Dr Spirt is one of the few psychiatrists who accepts affordable insurances, but goodness does she nickel and dime you to make up for it. Her coldness and lack of empathy towards anything is also abhorrent. More often than not, I scheduled appointments with her that were supposed to last 20-30 minutes, but she would send me away after a measly 5 minutes of talking to me and then complain if I ask more questions because "I'm too busy, if you want to take up more of my time I'll have to charge you for another session". And the nickel and diming is absolutely atrocious, especially considering the vulnerable types of patients she sees as a Psychiatrist. You want a note for work? $100 charge. Prescription needs to be called in? Charge A simple copy of your chart that you need sent to another doctor? $.75 per page they have to fax Any kind of paperwork for FMLA/Disability/etc? "I charge $400 an hour and I'll tell you how much you owe me after I fill it out. Please leave a credit card on file with my secretary." It is absolutely abhorrent how much she takes advantage of her vulnerable patient population to make herself more money.

this woman is not a psychiatrist she is a bill collector. After nearly 2 years of going to her and spending more time talking about her dog than my actual problems and just prescribe medicine and rushed out of the office. I ran into a little insurance issue where I was switching insurances. Now mind you I never had an issue with any payments in the past. I had two insurances on at the same time and one didn’t want to pay because they said I had another insurance and the other said the same thing so I had to get documents proving that I had canceled one insurance and only had the one insurance. so because of that my sessions was denied payment. you would’ve thought I tried to rob her. that session, all we talked about was the bill and how I was going to pay for it. she didn’t want to hear or wait for the insurance company and told me that her office is too small to deal with calling my insurance company. However she certainly doesn’t charge as such! I then called the insurance companies Straightened everything out myself and had them re-run the clams which they said they would and gave her the date on which it would be re submitted. I explained it to her and then a couple days later without emailing me or calling me she still charged my credit card on file for $91 fee. And on top of all this she hires children as secretaries and assistance probably doesn’t train them and then when they make a mistake she blames them. this woman is the wicked witch of the psychiatrists. please stay away from her!

Dr. Spirit is a fine doctor. Her advice and guidance are towards the patiece. And coming from a rural part of the county, it's refreshing to hear from other doctors that her advice is indeed valid. I highly recommend Sheri Spirit.

I did not come to Dr Spirt hoping for a therapist to hold my hand, I went to her in the hopes of finding a Psychiatrist who was knowledgeable, proactive, and up to date on her knowledge. Instead what I got was a money hungry, outdated, and truly rude doctor who got frustrated that her dosages weren't having her desired effects and said to me "so what do YOU want to do? What medication do you want to take?" Excuse me? I am paying you for your medical expertise, not for me to tell you what medication I want to experiment with! I spent a year seeing her and must say that my time was definitely wasted. She was clueless about what common medications were (like mirena) and their interactions with antidepressants and said "those medications came out after I went to med school, I don't know anything about that" apparently her education stopped at graduation so her psychiatric knowledge ends somewhere in the 80's. I was deeply disappointed when I discovered that my discussions with my well known psychologist and research through reading medical journals and psychology today garnered me more knowledge about the possible relationships between diet and psychiatric conditions than her. I am not referring to pseudo science or homeopathy either, I am talking serious medical studies and advances in understanding brain chemistry and diet. What I had hoped to find was a knowledgeable professional who had an interest in her chosen field and even an ounce of desire to help her patients to find the right treatment plan for them. Instead I found a very eager copay taker. When I started seeing dr Spirt she had a lovely, professional medical assistant. I am sad to say I don't know her name, but she was great! She has since been replaced by a girl who seems to compete with Dr Spirt on how difficult she can be to even have basic interactions with. I missed an appointment because I was taken to the hospital with a 104 fever and when I called the office to discuss the missed appointment I was chastised by her saying "you decided not to show up to your appointment". Yikes. In over a year of seeing Dr Spirt I'd never missed an appointment or even been late and that's the response? Don't waste your time, life, or hard earned money here.
