I went to Doctor Ben with a self-diagnosis from web quizzes. After an initial assessment, he was able to tell me that not only did I not have the problems that I thought, I had an entirely different set, which was much easier to treat! After several months of working with him, I've had huge improvements in my quality of life, across areas including my marriage, my friendships, my job, and my ability to enjoy simple social interactions. I began as a client of Dr. Dokun for about 5 months before he went on paternity leave. Despite having a full schedule, Dr. Ben decided to take me under his care. Transitioning from one therapist to another in a middle of treatment can be difficult for all involved especially for the client since trust and rapport have to be reestablished. But from the very beginning Dr. Ben worked to ease this move by ensuring we stuck to a weekly schedule and being flexible on the occasions when I needed to change days or time. During the therapy he made sure to give me his undivided attention the entire session. Over the past 18 months Dr. Ben has continued to work with me using his noteworthy traits of listening, reiterating and inquiring to gain a better sense of the issues I deal with and then, over time, “pushing me” so I can overcome and better handle situations I am confronted with. Finding the right psychiatrist is like finding a solid friend in your life; someone who works as a partner, builds you up, challenges you and cares your well-being. You will find that with Dr. Ben.
