Cares more about the financial contribution over the serious health condition of his patients. Once you are no longer able to afford him, (i.e your insurance changes because your job changes) he offers no help or recovery plan, and no empathy at all. Just tosses you off without even acknowledging you directly. Your only option is through his assistant since even Termine's time on the phone is paid for. For all he may know any number of his former patients may be extremely ill or God forbid gone, with the lack of medical concern he exhibits in helping one transition. There is more to be said but I feel the most important thing to get across is that Dr Termine clearly lost, or never had any integrity in this field in which he is supposed to be a healer and instead wound up a top notch opportunist. I wouldn't even offer 1 star but I'm unable to post zero.

Anthony, his assistant is always so pleasant, great with follows ups and professional. The office is located in Soho and convient to the subway, shops and restaurants. Dr. Termine’s office is bright with natural light, beautiful plants and the overall office atmosphere is peaceful and very nice. Dr. Termine has helped me navigate through life’s ups and downs and I cannot thank him enough for his care and guidance.

**Update, I was just contacted by the doctor's office, and I will be receiving a refund for my cancellation fee. While this smooths things over a bit, this experience was still trying enough that I feel like it is completely uncalled for by a place whose sole stated purpose is to help people with mental stability problems. I've never had to fight with a doctor over something so petty as this before, and for the time being I'm sticking by my review. For the change of heart and returning my money, they can have an extra star. Original Review as follows: Been with Dr. Termine for 4 years. Assistant Anthony has been consistently rude to me throughout my tenure at this office, with constant threatening reminders about severe cancellation fees for missed appointments, or late arrival times. Charges extra $5 copay credit card processing fee, which is way more than the CC companies charge, plus far more than the 4% permitted by NY state law. Never had a missed appointment in 4 years, all of a sudden I find a $265 charge on my credit card. Called to ask about it, and this is when all the real trouble started. Dr. Termine was away on vacation, and I was told that he was the only one who could actual speak on the issue, but also that it was definitely my fault though I had no record of it, and that the doctor would be calling me when he got back from vacation a few days after. Cut to almost a month later-- I've left 4 messages on his machine, my medication is expiring in 2 days, and I've called multiple times just about every single day since the beginning of January. Finally I call a DIFFERENT doctor in the office, and his assistant puts me through to assistant Anthony. Again I am told that the doctor is out of the office at a conference, and that he personally "just walked in" even though it is 10:15AM and the office is meant to open at 9. Again I am reassured that this was definitely my fault, I definitely missed an appointment, and that's all there is to it, I'll have to take it up with the doctor otherwise, and for that I need to make an appointment. I tell him that if the doctor does not call me by the following Monday I will be stopping by, obviously in an agitated state, and I hang up. Immediately I get a call from a blocked number, and now it is the doctor, who wants to "make everything right". First he tells me that there is no way I could have been calling and leaving messages, because he has all the systems in place to get calls 24 hours a day. Then he tells me that I missed an appointment, no doubt about it, and he thinks this policy is absolutely necessary, and that people would be cancelling on him left and right otherwise. Fine, I understand that, but almost $300? Well he doesn't think it's ridiculous at all. Oh, and he knows that I've never missed an appointment before, in 4 or so years, but it's his policy, and he's sticking to it. To his credit he does attempt to refill my prescriptions so I don't have to go through withdrawal, but only after many other attempts to get me to make a follow-up appointment. I have not yet checked with the pharmacy to see if it's true. Then he offers to split the cancellation fee with me, which I refuse, and to which he responds "well that's all I'm offering. Maybe we should not schedule a follow-up appointment." Agreed. I'm taking this up with the credit card company. TL;DR: This place is a cash grab. If you want actual sympathetic advice from someone who is going to remember your name after a year of appointments, look elsewhere. Oh, and if you're feeling suicidal or something? Be prepared to wait a month to get a callback. Just avoid.

After a bad experience with a previous doctor, Termine was like a breath of fresh air. Attentive, methodical, and without a hint of judgement, he genuinely wants to help you become your best self. I always feel listened to and as though my assessment of my own care matters as much as his. That said, he will tell you like it is when you need to hear it as well, but always with a considerate bedside manner. Highly recommended.

Dr. Termine is everything a person would want in a psychiatrist. I moved to New York many years ago with very high goals for my career and my personal life. I set up my existence to be one that was full of challenges. Stress, disappointment, surprises, complicated relationships, scary times, great times, milestones - I have brought it all to Dr. Termine and laid it on the table. We built trust very quickly and were soon off to the races. I have been seeing Dr. Termine for years. He helps me face every challenge in my life head on. He pushes me when I need to be pushed, he empathizes when I need understanding, he points out what I might be missing and need to examine so I can sort it and move on. He does NOT push medications, but is rather very careful about what he prescribes looking at me as a whole patient who deserves to live a good life bolstered by solid problem solving abilities and chemical help only when and where needed. Dr. T is extremely professional and also genuinely seems to care about me, partnering with me to find the healthiest paths forward. We celebrate victories together and also pick up the pieces together when things fall apart. I've called him in the middle of a crises and he is always there. Amazing. There are so many psychiatrists out there who don't get it. Dr. T. lives in the real world and always "gets it." No intellectual snobbery here. You can tell him absolutely anything and then, suddenly, you're not alone and you're on the way to making it better. Life in this town is tough. Dr. T makes it a little easier and gives me a real boost every time I see him. I hope he stays in practice a very very long time. Eat your kale, Dr. Termine!!

He runs his office professionally and his assistant gives patients courtesy calls before each and every appointment. Dr. T makes it clear when you work with him what his policy is around last minute cancellations. Unlike many doctors in New York, Dr. T takes the time to try to proactively find an appointment for patients if a spot opens up on his schedule. He understands that sometimes you really need to talk to someone. Beyond administration, Dr. T stays up to date on the newest treatments in his field. Whether you are looking for someone to talk things through issues with, and/or you are consider taking medications, he is one of the best.
