Most disgusting establishment, I hope it gets shut down. Was a loyal customer for 8 years. Lost my prescription for the first time ever (it fell out of my bag. I called and refaced my steps to no avail), they treated me like a drug addicted criminal and tried to humiliate me. Called 3x to ask a doctor for help w/a refill before I stopped in, each time was placed on hold by an automated system for one hour. Totaled 3 hours. Finally they called in the prescription, but it was incorrect. Went in person to speak to a doctor, they would not speak to me, or refill my correct prescription. Mind you: I’ve been a customer for eight years Would not release my medical records to me (signed paperwork, was standing right in front of them) , lied about which doctors I’ve seen (I’ve seen them all @ least twice). This establishment is run as a chop shop. A ton of people in the waiting room, long waits, never answer the phone, inflexibility, no respect for customers, liars. Last time I ever go to that garbage heap. Avoid @ all costs.

I love Dr. Mitelman. He is a great doctor. Unfortunately, the office itself can be an awful experience. I tried to call to reschedule an appointment and after being on hold for over 15 minutes I was disconnected. I am in and out of seeing the doctor in under 10 minutes, but then I have to wait to schedule an appt in person or on the phone for longer than my entire appointment takes. Also, the hold music so loud.

Meghan Kartstein

The worst experience I have ever have. My doctor made me wait 2 hours for an appt because apparently she had shown up 2 hours late. Nobody apologized and nobody made an effort to rectify the situation. Will never return. Do not go here, there are way better psychiatric offices in New York.

My son was having depression problems and hadn't had any luck where we live. We called Downtown Psychiatric Group – Manhattan and we were happy to get an appointment right away. The talented team of therapists at Downtown Psychiatric Group – Manhattan provides compassionate and empathetic care. They are excellent, perceptive listeners and provide skilled, targeted techniques to help their patients recover and thrive My son has been able to make healthy progress, achieve understanding and perspective, and I am able to move forward with my life. I am very grateful for all the help I received during the trail time.

David DuBois

No after hours support. I was out of town and couldn't get a few pills to hold me over.

James Miller

I was seeking a Therapist that could help me with my extreme anxiety. I found Downtown Psychiatric Group – Manhattan but I was worried because of the negative reviews, nevertheless I give it a try and I am glad I did. The Doctor’s approach helps me calm down. I left every session with a sense of hope, which I could never find at the previous Therapists.

I’ve had mixed feelings about visiting a Psychiatrist but my experience at Downtown Psychiatric group was very excellent, from the way the receptionist attended to me till I was able to book my appointment with the doctor; who happens to be one of the best I have ever encounter in a very long while. He understood my condition and gave me a very wonderful counseling. I’m impressed with the staffs of Downtown Psychiatric group and I’ll recommend their service to anyone going through depression and needs to get over it

If you are serious about your treatment and well being DO NOT SCHEDULE with this practice. Waited 2+ hours to be seen the first time, no one greeted patients as they arrived, ill advised on appointment and wait times, check-in and appointment times are irrelevant because they do not honor them or respect their patients time. Lacked communication and follow up with forms they requested. After the RN assures me of better operations and that she would bring it up with management, i returned. The follow up appointment did not start on time and when I asked to speak to front office manager it took me reminding front office staff that I was still waiting to speak to manager, for them to actually request. Finally spoke with manager who did not initially apologize, instead made excuses for being a large provider and said it was because they don’t know how long the doctors will take with patients and rebuffed when i said perhaps you should schedule them in timing increments that allow for the flexibility. They will ask for your copayments before you are seen with NO guarantee when you will be seen. No timing updates during long wait times and the staff was unprofessional and inexperienced. This is a factory and assembly line of psychiatric “care”.

Guaranteed 1 hour wait. Definitely not good for your mental health

Visiting Downtown Psychiatric group is one step i won't ever regret taking in my life, my session with the doctor was a success, the receptionist was awesome and every member of the staff was awesome, I'm feeling very much better and recovering very fast with the help of my doctor. I recommend Downtown Psychiatric group to anyone having mental issues and willing to overcome it.

Downtown Psychiatric Group - Manhattan is the best. My Psychotherapist has been a life saver. She has been competent, direct yet gentle and more accommodating than any professional I have ever dealt with. She put up with my last minute and ,literally, even few minuets into the appointments calls, on occasion to to cancel on reschedule. She seems to genuinely care about my well being, and has gone above and beyond to make sure I'm doing well at all times, even ones where she would not be paid for it. I would recommend her too to anyone any day of the week. She is the only therapist I fully trust. It is my opinion and experience that Downtown Psychiatric Group - Manhattan is the best in the field in the city.

Helen Mack

I'm dealing with a lot of stress at my work, had some personal issues with my husband. Downtown Psychiatric Group was recommended to me by a colleague who used them before. I came, my paperwork was quickly processed, and I saw the doctor within 15 minutes. I recommend them if you're dealing with similar situation

Mr. Sassy Flamingo

Table straight up steal from you. Because the doctors are incompetent and charge more because they’re greedy and like to take avenge of people with mental health issues. Do not go here This is the worst office I’ve ever had to go to. I will list everything is wrong with this place. These people are so terrible they go on and write their own five star reviews on Google. They do that so they don’t have to end it being a one star please what they deserve. 1. Never have the same people working the counter. I come back every single month and everything a month there are new people. 2. The doctors that they have are rude and insensitive to every patient. 3. The doctors if you had to see a different one because yours is on maternity leave will randomly decide one day that they’re doing more work than your other doctor and charge you more on your insurance. 4. Every single time I come out with more than an hour after the time I have to have my appointment. This is absolutely disgusting and very disappointing. They cannot keep a schedule if their life depended on it. 5. This office will still your money you make you pay more because they feel like they deserve more when they don’t. 6. When you try to talk to somebody tell you please be quiet and sit back down. Overall I say if you can go to somewhere else go there. This will never bring you the mental security that you need if this is your doctor. This place will add more stress in your in your life so you can get your medication that is all.

Lots of Drs. Phones are always a long wait if you call, but Drs generally are on time.

George Watson

I’m satisfied with their work and staff. Helped me very much. Dr. Very concerned about his patients, and really cares about her patients and takes time to find the right medications Thank you very much.

Wanda Sharp

My experience was positive very positive, and I went back until I was referred to the discrete services I needed. they are true professionals

Melissa Bells

I’m very satisfied with the staff and work of Downtown Psychiatric group. They’ve been very helpful to me. My appointment was booked very quick, The receptionists were very kind and caring, the therapists also was well skilled and very understanding which made everything easier. I strongly recommend Downtown Psychiatric Group to everyone suffering from depression.

Olessia Dultsin

I’m sure this practice has many good therapists but stay away from Neo Papaneophytou. Very unprofessional and unethical. He betrayed my trust from the first and only session.

Yuji Choi

This is the worst place I have ever went to. First off, I found this place through my insurance company as IN NETWORK. I called them beforehand and gave them all my insurance info and asked if I would just have to pay my copay. They said yes. I get here and they say now suddenly I have a $1000 deductible and have to pay $150 for the visit. So I complain and say that’s not what you told me over the phone and cancelled my appt. right before this I hear another guy complaining about the same exact thing. I walk out and call my insurance company. I give them the name of the doctor and everything. They confirm AGAIN that this doctor is in network and that I have no deductible and should only pay my copay. On top of that, I’ve been seeing a different psychiatrist for months and ONLY pay my copay with him and never have had any issues. So I walk back just 10m later after getting off the phone with my insurance company and go to complain to them. The girl is so rude and rolling her eyes at me. Then they say my doctor doesn’t have time to see me anymore even though I literally left 10m ago. Unbelievable that I wasted my time to take off work to go to this place.

Danny Goldyn

This is the WORST and most UNPROFESSIONAL office I've ever been to. I just moved to New York and needed a doctor and what a MISTAKE this place is. They do not value you or your time. If you are trying to get psychiatric help, this place will only make your problems worse. Particularly Dr. Lvov. She treats her practice like a business. You will walk away distraught and confused and dissatisfied. She needs to be investigated and have her license revoked for malpractice. I do not say this lightly. I have been to some amazing doctors and I know they exist in New York. Save your time and money and find an office who actually CARES. I know I will NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN and I urge you to skip this office. Shame on them and SHAME ON DR. LVOV.

C W

Celebrating my last day ever coming here by posting this review as I wait in the office again. Everyone else is right, I’m on 52 minutes right now and no idea when I’ll be seen. My boss and I have a running joke that I might not return to work when I have appointments here (make a night appointment if you don’t have flexible time because you will not be seen at your appointment time). Hilariously, the only time I have ever been seen ‘on time’ is when I messed up the appointment and came an hour late- they brought me right in and I think I skipped in front of two patients because they looked very sad as I was being led back. No worries though because I actually am seen for about 1 1/2 minutes each time just to get a refill. Now that I’m established Im walking out with my records and nevaaaah evah coming back. This is one of the happiest days of my life. Front desk staff is so rude, so unprofessional, all like 18 year olds that hate being here. My favorite is when I walked in and one of them was wearing a shirt that said ‘if u don’t like me why are we still talking’ lololol. I honestly find this place and every experience here so laughable but it’s only because I’m incredibly lucky to have a great job with flexible hours and I only have had to come once a month. If you are on ANY sort of time constraint just assume you will be here for two hours and plan ahead. Come here if you need some quick help, but once you’re established get your chart and run. Also- if you call and are anything above number 3 in line, hang up and call back a few hours later cuz you’re gonna be on hold for up to an hour.

Nurys Alvarez

I scheduled an intake appointment and didn’t even get a chance to be seen because I was left in the waiting room waiting AN HOUR past my appointment time. When I approach the front desk to inquire about my wait they reported that the doctor was in a meeting.... so they schedule appointments and willingly let people wait. The front desk was not sympathetic to my cause - when I asked for my check back (as they don’t take cash for their co-pays) they almost seemed happy that they had one less person to deal with. It is unfortunate because mental health has many disparities and adding this kind of services to the practice just makes people not want to seek it at all. I hope your experience is different than mine, just beware. Not rescheduling or returning to this practice again.

Tasha P

I waited over an hour to be seen. When I finally saw the doctor i explained that I was having anxiety and PTSD from a bad car accident in which the car was totaled. She had the audacity to say "was it really that bad" she went on to explain that she was in a car accident last year and took an Uber to work after it happen. She made several other disturbing comments throughout the session. The front desk over charged me. My insurance company called them several times and informed them that they needed to refund my money. After several attempts the assured me that a check was in the mail. It has been over two weeks and I've got nothing. They are unprofessional and if I don't get my check within a month I will seek legal action.

This place is awful. Typically the doctors (or registered nurses) are late to my appointments by over 30 minutes. The staff is unhelpful. The staff doesn't acknowledge you when you walk in. I fill in a sign up sheet but I'm not sure they read that. I don't think they do, as one time they had me correct info on my sheet 15 minutes after my appointment was scheduled. Also, the staff dresses unprofessionally, like they are going to high school. Finally, the staff takes incredibly long periods of time to answer the phone, if they answer it at all. I would go anywhere else if I could find another place that would take my insurance. Right now they are 30 minutes late for my appointment and still two people ahead of me. Total disrespect of their clients' time. Also, when I complained to the secretary, she said that it was my RN's fault, not the secretaries'. Unprofessional!!!! Avoid!!! Also, forgot to mention they keep an unlocked box of blood /urine samples next to the waiting room seats. Probably Illegal and definitely Gross!!!

Pam Rodrigues

Avoid this place. They are so incompetent. The doctor wrote my prescription wrong and the insurance won’t accept it. I have been following up with them for a week and it hasn’t been resolved. I emailed them multiple times and called. When I call, the receptionist says it will be done but nothing. It is a shame because my doctor is actually nice but the group is just terrible.

Ray Howard

Recently i visited psychiatric office. It was my first experience.

Merin Varghese

The receptionist is awful. A receptionist is supposed to set the tone of a clinic and she did a horrific job. I will not be returning because of her rude attitude and hostile demeanor. I am sure this clinic will lose patients if she keeps this attitude.

Эдгар Мартиросов

I was able to get an intake appointment relatively quickly and then an appointment with the primary therapist I was assigned. Everything went smoothly, from the receptionists, insurance, billing, therapy appointments, suggestions for groups, case management for community services. The entire Advocate Behavioral Health Program helps with every aspect of needs. The facility is always clean, the staff is always kind and the therapists are more than terrific.

Sarah Kastner-Ziemann

I have never left a review on any website before, but I was so furious after my experience at this office that I felt the need to share it. First off, as many have already shared, this office is run extremely poorly and it was obvious from the number of other patients who complained while I was waiting for my own appointment that the place is completely overbooked (I also had to wait nearly an hour to see my doctor -- I'm guessing that most working professionals such as myself don't have time to be waiting around for that long?!). Also, it is worth mentioning that my very first appointment here (I only ever had two) was rescheduled ONE HOUR before the appointment time! Beyond that, the nurse practitioner that I met with was extremely unprofessional to the point of offering copious amounts of unsolicited advice regarding my professional goals (according to her, someone with my condition would NEVER accomplish them). In addition, she was unwilling to continue prescribing medications that I have been stable on for YEARS. Although I admit to having no knowledge of the other practitioners at this practice, the way it is run and my experience with even one of them is enough for me to recommend you STAY AWAY.

Vincent Sciabica

They never have anyone available.

Corey

DO NOT GO HERE. Unprofessional in every single way.......

I've been going here for the last two years and in that timespan I don't think that my doctor has been here on-time to see me more than 4 times...and I come once per month. Not to mention the fact that I'm 99% certain that timeslots are purposely double-blind making wait times even longer. The reception staff, although not-to-blame and most likely underpaid, have no or very little training or interest in managing patients' expectations. The level of customer service is abysmal. Unless you're unemployed or have taken half a day off of work, I suggest finding a doctor's office that will respect your time as much as they enjoy your money. [UPDATE: May 21, 2018] Downgrading to 1 star considering nothing has been done to change or improve practices since my original review.

L S

Zero stars. The 16th floor of this practice is beyond horrible. It’s not uncommon for the reception staff to mess up appointments. Like that time I went and showed up to my appointment and they proceed to tell me that my practitioner was out of town. No phone call giving me a heads up, just decided to wait for me to come in. Some of the staff are terrible, including Deanna B. who is a NP. Do not see her for services, she is rude and stone cold in her interactions. I had a new appointment with her, had never seen her before, and the moment I walked in she had a very negative attitude towards me, and I felt very discriminated against. I left feeling awful and vowed to never return to this place. The wait times on are at least 1 hour. The negative and 1 star reviews on here are correct for the 16th floor. Avoid this place like your life depends on it. STAY AWAY.

A B

Do not go here!!!! These people are unprofessional To make an appointment you have to wait on the phone for almost an hour and on a good day 20 minutes. And forget about being seen at your appointment time if your appointment is at 12 you won’t be seen until like 1.. so what is the point of having an appointment??? If you miss too many appointments they will send you an email saying you can’t be seen anymore.. but they will not give you a warning. For example.. hey just to let you know you have miss to many appointments if you miss another one we won’t be able to service you anymore.. they will not give you a heads up.. which isn’t right being that they prescribe controlled substances and medication that has side effects if you just stop taking. They do not care about their patients.. well ENIKEV DOESNT CARE AT ALL ABOUT HIS PATIENTS ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS PRESCRIBE MEDICATION TO RECIEVE THERE KICK BACKS..

Charlotte Martin

CASH ONLY. Ever heard of a doctors office being cash only? Neither have I. My father who works in healthcare fraud was especially concerned with this policy as it’s a red flag. Hope they’re investigated soon. I booked my appointment a month out and was not told on the phone that they’re cash only. A but odd as you think they’d mention that, given how bizarre it was. I didn’t get a reminder call, which is fine, but you’d hope that with a policy like this they’d call to make sure you know. I arrived early, filled out paperwork for 20 minutes, and sat there until I was called up and asked to pay. My copay was $150. Like most people I don’t carry that much cash. I was told there was an ATM downstairs. As if I was in a dive bar or corner store. What kind of medical office operates like that?! This was an awful experience. I would not recommend them to anyone. This is an absurd policy that dismissed them outright. Worst doctors office experience of my life.

Grace Reed

Do not go here ...hour long hold times just to make an appointment. Hour or more long wait times to see the doctor.

Jessica McNair

I have been using this practice for a few years now, they help me remain calm in this highly-paced work environment. They have several doctors who work there, so typically you can schedule appointment with short notice. People in the waiting toom sounded pleased with the doctors, and I can say the same

Kriss Donald

I found Downtown Psychiatric Group and it’s been an amazing and wonderful experience so far, the doctors are very caring and awesome. I have tried other therapy before but I stopped when I found Downtown Psychiatric Group, They really help me when I needed them most and they were always calling to check up on me even after my session, and has always been there for me. I totally recommend Downtown Psychiatric Group to everyone.

Marit Taylor

HORRIBLE!! I recently switched insurance and am very low on medication. I also had to wait OVER A MONTH for this appointment, as it was the earliest available. I arrived before 5:30 and filled out all my paperwork in the lobby. After waiting for an ENTIRE HOUR, the receptionist tells me that he is having trouble getting in contact with my insurance. Understandable, since it is outside normal business hours. He tells me I can either have my appointment rescheduled or I can pay $150 out of pocket and insurance can reimburse it later. I took a minute to speak to my spouse and told the receptionist that I simply cannot wait and wish to see the doctor today, as my appointment was SUPPOSED to guarantee. I already had to leave work early today to make the appointment and, as I mentioned before, I am almost completely out of my mental health medicine. He tells me that actually, no, it would “a lot better if” i take the rescheduled appointment (for a FULL WEEK LATER) and leave the office immediately. I say that I am willing to pay the $150, but he still says no. Stay away do not come!

Caitlin McElroy

Incredibly incompetent office. I have never felt that my mental health would get worse from my experience with people who are supposed to help you, but that is what has happened when you add the stress of dealing with a huge administrative team which somehow over a two week period manages to mess up the paperwork for much needed medication not once, but twice. After the first time being told what they did wrong, they filed the paperwork incorrectly the exact same way. Trying to get ahold of them is a logistical nightmare. When you call, you're on hold for about 30 minutes to an hour on each time, and then they will say that they understand your problem and will call you back, only to never call you back and when you call again the next day, the next person you're talking to has no idea what you're talking about. The two people I saw, Rumi and Petia, were helpful and kind, but they are operating in an office which does not support their clients and rather brings them down. I feel abandoned and frustrated and not listened to. The feeling you most get when dealing with Downtown Psychiatric Group is that you are not important, and it is clear that they do not actually care about you or your mental health at all.

Bob

Fiona Farrelly

Every. Single. Time. I have waited over an hour for my appointment. Thinking about getting there early, maybe you can be fit in? Nope, just leaves you to wait even longer. The receptionist are a bunch of college kids, very unorganized.

Gena Gorlin

Wow - I’m still reeling from the level of unprofessionalism this practice managed to show me at every step of my ultimately failed attempt to see one of their doctors. First they canceled and rescheduled my initial appointment twice because of confusions on their part, and then when I finally came in for my re-rescheduled appointment with a different doctor than I’d originally requested, they kept me waiting for 50 minutes past my scheduled appointment time until I finally lost my patience, asked for my co-pay check back (they don’t take credit cards), and walked out.

Alison Silva

It is a shame how badly managed this office is because I love my psychiatrist who works here. She is honestly one of the best psychiatrist I've ever had (the 3 stars are for Dr. Grove). However, nobody is lying when say how long the wait time is and how rude and unhelpful the front desk people are. Bring a book and prepare to be late for work because you will be waiting for at least 45 mins. I'm holding out for the day my Doc goes to a different clinic...

Alex

Been ok for the most part but be aware that you’ll very likely end up spending easily over an hour in the waiting room with no explanation of the delay. Also choose your Doctor carefully as some are extremely obnoxious and dismissive compared to others. Currently searching for a new practice for the future.

Matthew Greninger

Sarah Patricia

I'm giving 3 starts for the doctor only, she is fantastic and listened to my needs. I wish I could give 5 but the reception staff is terrible. I've gone back several times and each time I go they have the worst attitudes, like I am bothering their internal conversations when I check in for my appointments. I have had longer wait times (sometimes up to an hour and a half) which I am fine with as I understand some patients need more time, but I could do without the glares and eye rolls when I ask when I will be seen or when I need to make a follow up appointment. Also, be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes on hold if you try to call as it takes forever to get through and when they finally do answer, get ready to deal with an attitude.

Caitlin Davis

I highly recommend steering clear of this entire office. If I could give Downtown Psychiatric Group zero stars, I would. Over the course of three months, the receptionists have hung up on me, told me I was annoying them and had me come in twice for appointments they had not actually officially scheduled. The last doctor I came in contact with there was blatantly rude and gave me information that I can confirm is inaccurate and untrue. This was a disappointment all around, and I cannot stress enough how unprofessional and awful this place is.

Mikey Kuplevatsky

Friendly staff, but wait times are way too long (30 minutes to an hour+) and for a five minute to ten minute appointment, the hassle and travel isn't worth it. A year ago, I remember I was seeing a therapist twice per week, when I was in a really bad place. Randomly, without a warning or advanced notice, as that's even legally required, I was told I could only come once per week. The owner's reasoning? "Other people's insurance promised to pay for kore than once a week and never ended up doing that." So, what? Punish me for others people's experiences? My insurance was and still paying just fine for more than once a week elsewhere. Horrible. Don't make excuses, make a plan that is smart, constructive and won't be detrimental to the mental health of the patients that come to your clinic for help. If you need a five or ten minute checkup just to get medication, go for it. You'll have long wait times, but they have no problem giving you medication. Need one-a-week therapy? Go for it. I wouldn't, after having so many bad experiences, but the staff and doctors there are nice. It's just about the management and whoever owns this that makes it so bad for a lot of people. It's quantity over quality, here.

Danielle Jones

Unbelievably slow, can take over an hour to get in even if you show up early to your appointment.

Scott Borges

Great doctors, and the staff are amazing. They always call a day before to remind me of my appointment

Antony Каr

I liked the service in Downtown Psychiatric Group and the attitude towards patients. I brought my elderly relative here. He had serious mental disorders but experienced doctors have helped several sessions and now everything is fine. I recommend this center. Real professionals!

I'm very happy I found this place. I work nearby in Financial District, and my work is extremely stressful. Politics everywhere, long hours, pressure from peers and management. Unrealistic deadlines, no life whatsoever. I became so immersed in this routine, I lost track on who I am. I was depressed and angry at everyone and everything. A friend at work recommended Downtown Psychiatric Group - it is nearby Wall Street so I decided to give it a try. Easy appointment, nice place and good doctors. They listened carefully and I'm back on my feet once I again. Definitely recommend.

Rita Kuskova

I was going thru very difficult times and my friend recommended this place. They accept many insurance providers so I didn't have to file claims and wait for return as I did with my previous doctor. They're flexible schedule-wise so I didn't have to wait for long. Staff is nice, good service.

I can't believe it - all our negative reviews actually worked! CIGNA just de-listed this clinic from their referral, in-network website. Bravo all for speaking up! Fewer patients to be disappointed by this group. Bravo CIGNA! Six weeks ago I confirmed an appointment with one of the psychiatrists but then didn't hear anything back. The appointment was to begin in half an hour, so I called. They had my name and details, but the doctor is not in today and so they completely no-showed.

Wait times are routinely 1h+ even if appointments are scheduled well in advance.

Everyone who works in the office itself is excellent but whoever manages this place understaffs it terribly and refuses to have functional phone systems and payment technologies. I missed access to my prescriptions because there weren't enough people there to even pick up the phone--and so I faced serious health consequences. Can't wait to find a new provider.

Justine Sorrentino

Don't make themselves available for those who need immediate attention. hard to make appointments, difficult hours.

Nie

Whoever runs the office On Sunday is very rude on the phone and could not help me at all I was lost and called office for help and nobody spoke any English properly and when I cried begging to get directions I was hung up on twice

Wicked Tuber

Recently started working with them, and everyone has been fantastic so far. Staff has been nice and understanding. They are usually quick with answers to questions and generally easy to deal with

I called them several times before I could reach someone (because there was always a wait) to make an appointment. When I finally did there was a three week wait, but ok. The week before THEY called me to confirm. I get there and the waiting room is packed, so I ask whether I'm going to be waiting a long time and t hey say "oh yeah!" Then they look up my appointment and say they can't find it anywhere on their system - even though THEY had called me to confirm. What a disgrace - and the doctor, double booking patients at the same time. It's like no one in the office gives a hoot. Like it isn't hard enough to go see a psychiatrist in the first place.

The staff at the clinic have been very courteous and my doctor is very caring/knowledgeable of my condition. He knows how to prescribe the right treatment and I'm doing very well.

Zero stars in all honesty. I was referred to a psychiatric nurse practitioner who was the most unprofessional practitioner i have ever met. Within less than 15 minutes she denied medical care and tried to talk me out of dealing with this practice stating “they can’t help me” even though they have 15 practitioners. When I asked if she read my chart, she raised her voice and insisted she doesn’t need to read my chart and can see i have multiple diagnoses. I asked her to inform me what they are, and she couldn’t. When I asked why I am being denied care after she asked me to quit my brand new job, she stated the appt was over and demanded i leave. I thought she was joking but she callec the office manager, and both basically kicked me out of the office for asking why I am being denied care. Had she bothered to read my chart she would know that I am a healthcare worker too, and this is not over. Voilating the patient’s bill of rights, unprofessionalism, lack of care, beyond awful bedside manner and the blatant bias is going to land this practice in a lot if trouble. The staff tried to do everything to prevent me from speaking to the head MD. The state/city needs to know what is happening here.

First, i NEVER, EVER write reviews but this place was an experience I hope no one will ever have to go through themselves after reading about my experience. First, the girls behind the desk are young and lack even the slightest hint of professionalism. They first told me my insurance was Inactive which after checking, they found to be wrong. Then they told me my copay was $50 before I called Emblem Health and had them straighten that out as well. I actually had No copay. When the doctor finally called me after an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment, that's when things really went bad!!! The doctor who was an older Russian women took 2 personal calls during our session, blew her nose constantly and complained about how she must have ate something that triggered an allergic reaction. We talked more about how she was feeling than how I, the patient was feeling. She asked me 3 questions in total and wrote 2 pages of notes. Even when i tried talking to her while she was writing, she proceeded to roll her eyes at me and asked me if i knew where to buy new pants. I asked her what she meant and basically she told me to buy new pants, embrace change and get over whatever brought me to her office. She then wrote me 2 prescriptions and said to come back in a month. This place was no better than a clinic in a third world country. They should just pitch a tent outside on Broadway and see patients there. If you are truly seeking help with a mental health issue DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. WORST PLACE EVER!!!

I’ve only been going here for a short time but I’m actively looking for a new place to go. Every time I’ve gone, something is wrong. My chart is missing, my appointment is missing, etc and I’ve always waited at least an hour. Today they told me I’d have to wait two hours before I could see her, but only after I asked. The staff at the front desk are not experienced with handling this and were openly laughing at the other patients and at me for wanting to know when we were going in. It’s so frustrating and disappointing.

Being a patient at Downtown Psychiatric was one of the worst experiences of my life. This practice is a collection of the most unprofessional people in the entire field of health care. My mental health deteriorated as a result of the "treatment" I received here. They simply push pills onto patients without any concern for actually treating the underlying issues. I was treated by Petia Papazoglou, but the entire office is incompetent. I would not wish the experience I had at downtown psychiatric on my worst enemy.

I worked with Dr. Mitelman of Downtown Psychiatric Group for a year and a half, and she is amazing. She is warm, caring and kind and very knowledgeable in her field. I have tried other therapy before, and always went a couple times, then stopped. Dr. Mitelman and I worked so well together and she knew when to push me and back off when she felt she needed to. We worked hard together as a team, and she was always there for me. I totally recommend Downtown Psychiatric Group to everyone.

If you are looking for amazing care and doctors that want to listen this is NOT the place for you. If you have seen a doctor and know what prescriptions you and want to save money their IS the place for you. Worst, least carind psychiatrists that give people who want to die a reason to kill themselves. But don't be so sensitive, You go there cuz it's cheap, NOT cuz it's good.

Jonathan Yodice

The absolute worst - I spent $250, even though I was a previous client - I saw a woman who could barely speak English, was very disagreeable and just horrible. - in the end, it was a total waste of time and MONEY - hard-earned money. Stay away from this place - they are truly the worst. I agree with the negative reviews here - they are on the money - no pun intended!

Negatives aside (I've had my own share of issues with the office itself, but people care more about the negatives than writing about something good that has come out of their experience). I'm writing to let you guys know Linda Grove is a wonderful psychiatric nurse practitioner. She has great empathy and I feel more comfortable chatting with her than any psychiatrist I've seen prior. She listens. She cares. And I'm happy I found her.

Inconsistent, inconsiderate, unprofessional, dishonest.

Downtown Psychiatric Group is located near my work, so it’s convenient. They accepted my insurance, so it was no brainer. The doctor was nice, listened carefully and advised on next steps. Overall, they have very nice practice. Many doctors to choose from, flexible schedule. I’m satisfied with their work and staff.

The WORST experience. Staff is a bunch of kids who do not know how to conduct customer service. They'll look at you standing at the counter than continue with what they're doing. Would be nice to say "hey I'll be right with you". The doctor I see is horrible. She messed up my prescription THREE times. If I had better health insurance I'd go elsewhere.

I have had enough of this place neglecting to call me back when I am in severe need of assistance and direction. I called yesterday regarding a reaction I am having from my medication. I was just switched to a new med because I felt it wasn't working and am realizing I may be allergic to both. I spoke to the front desk yesterday 05/16/2018 who said they would pull my chart and put on DR.'s desk with an URGENT note so they can call me first thing in the morning. I CALLED AGAIN TODAY asking why no one called me back and that I am in pain. My hands and feet (mostly left side) are red and swollen, I had a rash all over my body and the day before I called my throat started swelling which I thought was from anxiety. It is painful to write this now and is taking me quite some time. I have yet to have ANY DOCTORS CALL ME BACK BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT MONEY. When I switched my meds within a week because of the unwanted side effects and feeling as if it was not working they FORCED ME TO PAY ANOTHER COPAY and I bet when I go in for this allergic reaction a week later they will charge me again. They are unethical and lack empathy to patients in pain. I work for a DR.'s office and WE DO NOT TREAT OUR PATIENTS THIS WAY! I am calling the BBB on them straight away with my complaints. This is ridiculous and this place should be SHUT DOWN. Terrible customer service. AS INDICATED ON FDA DEXADRINE LABEL: "• Instruct patients to report to their physician any new numbness, pain, skin color change, or sensitivity to temperature in fingers or toes. "

Terrible - been going for 2 years because of insurance and other details. Every horror story you will read here is true (besides the fake 5 star reviews, see below). I never write reviews, but I need to voice my concerns for future patients. This is without question the worst doctors office I have ever been to. Some doctors have been excellent, but most leave/quit after seeing how the place is run. It confuses me why any self-respecting doctor would actually work here when all patients hate it. Only 1/10 visits ends up going smoothly. The office managers and receptionists know that people hate coming in for their visit and will have to wait forever. The staff is extremely slow, but they aren't terrible. Most are kind. I've routinely waited on hold on the phone for 30-45 minutes. The administration of the office is horrendous. If you value your time, predictability, consistency then you really can't justify coming here unless you absolutely need to. The 5 Star Reviews are 100% fake. They ALL contain Russian language syntax errors and fake stories. You'll also notice that almost all of them contain the exact words "Downtown Psychiatric Group" or "Downtown Psychiatric Group - Manhattan" without any other punctuation and an extreme overuse of the comma. What had me write today's review was a nurse practitioner who actually didn't write my prescription out of spite when I asked to have the medication sent to another pharmacy. It was really shocking and the whole thing has had me wait on hold for hours and wasted so much time for me and my family. They are definitely breaking laws whether they are written or unwritten ones.

I've been suffering from depression for quite some time now, and via the help of close friends and relatives, I decided to visit a therapist Center for Rehabilitation. I haven't done this before and the thought at first was a bit disturbing. Bookings were made nonetheless, and I had an appointment scheduled for me that same week. The receptionists at Downtown Psychiatric Group - Manhattan, were kind and understanding. The therapist I must say is well skilled because I enjoyed my session thoroughly. My first experience was excellent, and hopefully, when I visit them again, I would get the same service just like the first and would also see depression as a thing of the past, sooner, rather than later.

Am happy I found Downtown Psychiatric soon enough I was under a lot of pressure from my work as an accountant and had a lot of issues with my husband too..my friend from work recommended me to this place and they really helped me out now i can handle both my job and my husband...I would strongly recommend anyone who is in my state to try them out.
