Any negative reviews about dr Manevitz make me question people's integrity I have been going to his practise for years now Hands down The best doctor ever

He is like a child throwing a tantrum. He called my internist and would not get off the phone until she left the patient she was with. He is rude, crude, and the nastiest, meanest doctor I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. His compassion with me was a complete zero. He is also a psychopharmacologist who in four different visits never looked at any of my medications or made any suggestions. He made a lot of horrible statements about me without even knowing me. He also screamed at me, in front of staff and other patients, loud enough that I thought the whole floor could hear, and then called the receptionist up to his office to grill her about my behavior. I was later told that he called three people up to ask them the same things, and they were all appalled. I would only recommend him to an enemy.

I had an appt with Dr Manevitz, last year. After paying a few hundred dollars, because he doesn't take insurance,i waited with my relative(patient)for over an hour for him. When we finally sat down to talk to him,he YAWNED(yes as in sleepy time ),several times in the first half an hour.(did he even hear or understand ,what we said?).He then proceeded to apologize, and explain that he had taken a redeye flight and not been able to sleep.(it was a 5 pm appt)He then proceeded to explain 3 or 4 steps that were going to be taken,to take care of the patient, such as getting back to us after speaking to the experts etc and we left.We never heard from him again. How come we get an appt, when this doctor is clearly going to be sleep deprived.?one of the most unprofessional, and uncaring doctors i have had the misfortune to seek treatment from.

I am a physician and well aware of a number of patients and families seen by Dr. Manevitz—-he is an exceptional physician. He is a rare breed of caring compassion, brilliance, cutting edge. He doesn’t look for credit; he only wants patients and families under his care to thrive. After years of seeing his work, a member of my family reluctantly needed his intervention... me! The thoughtfulness, thoroughness made me feel safe. He spoke with my spouse and children explaining my complicated case and helping them understand my issues. His understanding of my psycho dynamics was exceptional, the family work masterful, his sparse but on target use of medication worked.

I saw Dr. Manevitz about 30 years ago for a substance problem. He treated me with compassion and purpose. Certainly one of the greatest physicians in all of N.Y.C. A phenomenal doctor!

He helped for decades thousands of people, of whom I refereed too, with dignity and with moral, with a distinct psychological and noble approach to the various clients coming from various culture, race, religion, etc. People who were about to forsake their life found a new and joyful life with relief and with a with peace, health and tranquility. His medical approach is unique; no wonder that he has need recommend year after year, by New York Magazine, "Best Doctors." Can't recommend any better doctor for any one inflicted with any mental issue.

I went through Hell in New York City from 2005 to 2016. Dr. Manevitz was probably my Doctor for the last five years of it. I had more appointments than I can count which were two minutes or less. He should probably stick to doing his television interviews and whatever else keeps him away from live human beings. From what I saw: the better the insurance the patient had the better the treatment. Alternatively: he may have been a big fan of Wu Tang Clan's hit song "C.R.E.A.M."- Cash Rules Everything Around Me.

Excellent Psychopharmacologist who goes above and beyond though there are questionable issues with some of his practices. We need the "med allowance" he allows if only insurance companies covered them. Anything that works seems to be "controlled" and addictive. Well of course its addictive - it works! And sometimes this is what is needed - MORE not less... he understands and wants to heal those who are truely suffering and connect with them. We have this epidemic in inverse. It's a bigger problem that patients don't seek treatment nor People, Insurance Companies and Doc's dont Accept most insurances. I believe Allan to be on the more liberal side but this doesn't cut it. And our .Gov understand this inherently. As our values and changes in society that demand more and more of our energies 24/7 with our phones we always need to be "on" like them. We are under much more stresses and pressures than other generations in a different way which makes for more suicides and depresion that given the cost of drugs in other countries we need reform and now. With chronic multitasking and this poor reasoning medical marijuana and other drugs are illegal that help us feel 'good' so we CAN Focus and enjoy life should be OFF Limits and Over Priced is very odd to me. Money before our lives... live like a doctor who makes 100K not three million and don't tell me it's becuase of law suits. Becuase every industry has them. It's fear I fear. In addition, we don't take our meds properly - wanting to feel "virtuous" which is religious dogma chipping away at our rights imposed by those who support "Ash Wednesday" in turn opiates they recieve opiates for the masses which is Greed in its ugliest form. Get on the same page now, make less - save lives and your vanity plates and boats and second mortgages to afford other people the love they need too. He's well educated in the discipline and has tons of neurology with cutting art TMS and neurofeedback testing available; however, he is quirky. I can attest to this and his "crossing lines" and trying to help in ANY way possible - but there have been a few incidences that are not ok. Hiring me was one. In regards to a delayed payment this is a positive if you are suffering - I don't this he will turn you down. Which is amazing conversely. I would feel more confident with him if his focus was better but to keep track of his case load he has is likely overbooked and struggles. They are humans who have high rates of suicide who bear the brunt of the worst (or alot of the suffering) the mind has on us. But make no qualms a great doctor can do wonders for you if he has the right training and listening skills. Counter Transference can be is weakness but his usage of his phone during sessions annoying and dispiriting where he claims to be taking notes - though, there should be zero allowance for this sue to Hippa Laws. This is like net neutrality and the crossing of lines of certain tech co's into our personal lives, so unless we build Trust and have fair laws regarding our pre exsisting conditions etc is a looming problem... I like Alan personally and think he believes he does goes beyond - BUT does he "know where you start and he ends" as a priceless doctor once told me who I saw for seven years. He's been a lifesaver for many undoubtedly (including me) for certain. Whether "we" the people can keep the information private is our downfall. He did tell me to take down a prior post which "I am sorry" this is still the US and there is "freedom of speech" Doctor with all due respect so I had to mention it without feeling threatened about my treatment and the potential cancelliation if I say something. Self Analysis is an option a version of "Eliza" but is incomplete. Personal VA (Voice Assistance) should be able to ask a few questions so we can unload our issues. With of course privacy one when ones it should be mandatory minumum sentencing if companies break this.

Dr Manevitz saved my life. Hands down one of the smartest, most intuitive doctors in NYC. Remains curious, knowledgable and throughly scrutinizes newest treatment techniques available - both therapeutic and pharmacological.

James Richard

alan is really great, though he over prescribes medication. he believes klonopin's good for ankle / back pain. it's all good because he's really engaged.
