Worst hospital ever! I'm a diabetic and know how to monitor my sugar levels! They don't give me enough insulin so my sugar levels have been high obviously!. Since my sugar levels have been high they won't discharge me because they have NO IDEA WHAT THEIR DOING!

This Facility should be torn down. They don't help people with mental disability or drug addiction. Legal services should get involve. The staff don't even care about the patients neither does the doctors. All they want is money. They ship people off to places that they don't know about.

I was brought here against my will and was held for 9 months before I was able to go home. I was brought in for an evaluation by the police and they threw me away to rott,I was so doped up on narcotics such as syraquil I couldn't fight the staff when they assaulted me. One night I pretended to take my meds and then layed down and acted if I was sleeping to see what they were doing to me, I couldn't believe they were given me such high doses of meds I had NO CLUE they were touching me and taking pictures while doing it. I was sexually assaulted for 9 months and couldnt do anything about it.. When I mentioned it to adminstration I was told to keep my mouth shut unless I wanted to be kept longer.....their is a special place in hell for the people who work here....

I agree with Sarah Thomas comments. I'd been victimized by this Rehab. It was a nightmare. It was not only that I wAs forced to take meds that I'm not supposed to take but the doctor wanted me to be jailed. I should rate zero this Rehab. I was with a pastor and his wife and his mother in law when he stopped suddenly to a nearby hospital for his morher in law. I got off from the pastor's car and followed his wife and his mother in law because I didn't want to go with the pastor for some reason I felt not good. I followed his wife And mother in law but I lost them so I looked for a nurse whom I knew that is working there and I got into the emergency department. I tried not to go with the pastor, suddenly a man in uniform said, "It's her." And they scuffled me, pinned me down, they ripped of my clothes and they injected me. I saw the pastor's wife looking at me while I was trying to free myself. When I woke up it was past 1am, I figured out they injected me sleeping pills. I was forced to Barnabas Rehab and I was treated so bad. The doctors and workers there believed I did something wrong to the elder I took care based on what the pastor and his wife told them which was a hearsay only from people they did not even met and no facts at all. They judged me and made me looked like crazy. Judge went inside the Rehab and the mean doctor trying to jail me based on what the pastor and his wife told them, that I didn't tell the doctor where I lived, that was his basis only. Just a hearsay and allegations they judged and accused me. And they forced me to take meds for crazy people. There was even a like a detective inside the room where I was. I was so terrified and that made me sleepless in that Rehab. I was being pinned down just by hearsay and gossips. The workers keep on asking you over and over why are u here? Why are u sad?? Who's not gonna be sad and terrified you were being accused of doing bad thing and you were treated like a crazy person?? I was helpless. I couldn't fight and resist them. My cousin who stole my pouch containing my camera with important docs and pictures was the culprit. She made derogatory stories against me. Since she lived with the owner of the house where we lived for over 5 years, they believed that scumbag thief. I was crucified. I was victimized. I was destroyed by having a record in this Rehab. There was no justice for what they did to me. The doctor tried everything to convince the judge to jail me. And they made my BP high intentionally to show it to the judge that I was scared because she is coming to judge me. I knew my BP was normal and I was not scared at all that the judge was coming because I did not do anything wrong to anyone!!! My heartbeat gets fast when I remember what they did to me. People who believed easily just by gossips without evidence is a fool and stupid!!!! Just by hearsay I was judged and crucified. I believed in Karma. You do and did something bad to others, it will come back to you. Those who wronged me will experience the same in some other ways, and that would be bad karma. God punish the wicked. Investigate before you judge! Gather facts and evidence before you judge a person A......s!!!!

What Francesca is failing to mention is the said gentleman, Lee Kenworthy, had DYFS at bay for 5.5 hours when all he needed to do was let them see the children and they would have went away!! No harm, no foul. He and the ridiculous group he follows set this up. He was ranting and raving like a lunatic, most likely, because he was spun out on meth. He is somewhere now where he is getting the mental health care he so desperately needs. Good for Barnabas, for giving him the help and medication he so desperately needs. Shame on Francesca and her minions for using this poor gentleman to further their cause.

My mother was here due to Alzheimers. She should never have been placed there but had been sent from hospital because she was being aggressive (ALZHEIMER's not insanity). They were horrible. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy.

The staff at this facility is amazing, caring, attentive and compassionate. I spent 7 days here and couldn't say more positive about the staff and care. These experiences are what we make of them and the bottom line is that most people don't want to be there to begin with so that impacts their experience and opinion but ultimately as a patient we have to be willing to accept the help offered. Great staff, great care and great people. Thank you Barnabus Health.

They are also blunt homophobes, at least amongst their staff, who have been reported to yell at their patrons. Do not go here whatever you do, this place deserves to be closed, and you should not trust them with your health..

I WAS IN THIS FACILITY A FEW MONTHS AGO THE STAFF AND DOCTOR WERE TERRIBLE . NASTY AND I WAS TREATED LIKE SOME SORT OF CRIMINAL INSTEAD OF A PERSON THAT JUST CAME TO FACILITY WITH ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION - THE ONLY GOOD THING THAT CAME OUT OF IT WAS THAT UPPED THE DOSAGE ON MY MEDICINE SO IT WORKED FASTER - IT WAS THE FIRST PLACE I EVER SIGNED MYSELF INTO AND WILL CERTAINLY BE MY LAST AND I TOLD THEM THAT TOO JUST BEFORE I LEFT!

This facility doesn't do much at all to address mental health symptoms. If you need mental health services, this pales in comparison to a single one-on-one therapy session with a real and qualified therapist. The purpose of the facility isn't really to treat mental health problems, but rather to ensure a patient isn't (homi)(sui)cidal. The extent of the treatment is speaking with other patients and incredibly simplified therapy sessions preformed by individuals who are underqualified, who aren't even close to therapists with the proper graduate degrees.

The worst behavioral center. For my father that needs long term help, they continue to send him home after his 4th stay. He is obviously not better, yet the doctor says he's showing improvement and sends him home everytime only for us the family to have to deal with his depression on our own.

Human beings are not being treated humanely. It is a shame an needs to be stopped. People are being forced to take medications for illness that they do not have an being forced to be there for weeks or months without a valid reason of harming others or themselves without hallucinations nor illness. People have been forcing others to be in these places by calling 911 for an argument or disagreements as a way of control an attack to be evaluated at a hospital then forced to stay for observance taking advantage of the human right to part ways with others an live their own lives instead being punished for no illness or crime. Jewish agencies have been denied to help the patients by sending bottled water or kosher snacks or meals at location that have been able to help Jewish people unfortunately forced to stay at the location without real reason or illness an have been forced to take medication to be allowd to leave the facility. Very dangoues place. The workers try to soothe the situwation by telling a patient someone Jewish works there but that dose not help while being forced to take medications for serious illness they do not have nor are aggressive. Do not harm others by sending people to these places because of argument, life is sacred and one man dose not become rich by harming another there will be justice for those serious harmed and have no illness being kept there agianst their will.

very nasty and terrible place to be some of the staff members where nice some of the staff members were very disrespectful they kept me locked up in short term care for 2 weeks and 3 days because of a fight that me and my father got into also because they thought that i had an housing issue and one of the doctors whose name is Dr. Kishnia is a very disrespectful doctor because he thought that i was crazy and that i wasn't well just because i kept repeating and asking the same questions all over again it was so stupid and ridiculous to get furiously angry over he even thought that i wasn't a good listener and he even thinks that i am autistic which that is so not true because I AM NOT AUTISTIC AT ALL and he even uses the term autism spectrum when their is no such thing as a autism spectrum and i am like how many times do i need to keep admitting to people that my one and only diagnoses is a Schizoaffective Disorder and i don't even know why is it so hard for everybody to believe that my one and only diagnoses is a Schizoaffective Disorder but whatever it is its really messed up and that really nasty doctor Dr. Kishnia has even threatened to lock me up in a long term care psychiatric hospital and everytime my father calls this hospital they never put him on the phone with Dr. Kishnia and these people at this hospital are such idiots and if you have serious mental health issues then this is not the place that i would recommend because this is the worst and most nastiest psychiatric hospital that i have ever been to also if i was autistic then i would be really sick and gross and really stupid my brain would be damaged i wouldn't even be able to eat and or talk and i would even be disgusting and i am not that type of person so that means I AM NOT AUTISTIC because my one and only diagnoses is a Schizoaffective Disorder so why is it that not everybody believes that? and so stay away from this psychiatric hospital. hopefully i never come back here or to any psychiatric hospital ever again.

If you are trying to help a family member with mental health issues look elsewhere. This place is strictly a business and provides no real help or solutions to those suffering. My mom suffers from manic depression, schizophrenia, and bi polar disorder and has had to be taken to St Barnabas in Toms River multiple times. All they do is load their patients up on medicines for a few days until their in house psychiatric staff deems they are “okay” and no harm to others so they can discharge them without ever actually helping the patient to get better. Aside from that, the staff member I spoke to on the phone was extremely arrogant and rude, pretty much stating my mom was our problem to deal with. We sent her there because we need help and aren’t doctors. I’ve read other reviews of this mockery of a mental health facility and they pretty much all fall in line with what my family has gone through. This place is just out to collect their insurance payments and it should be closed down.

I keep reading all the bad reviews, when this facility & its staff has literally saved my life more than once. The only thing I can think of other than ppl leaving comments aren't giving or are being lied to by their fam or friends, is that I haven't been there in many years & many things & staff have changed. I do believe 1 of the ppl that helped me the most in my life, as well as saved it more than once, twice, three ×'s is in a much higher position there now, but she may have moved again. I Dunno. Called to get information on a patient and to share the interactions I have had with him since he was there...was told I would get a call back and never received one. I then called again and the woman I spoke with was very rude and not helpful at all. I asked if she had noticed the over medicated behavior(slurred speach and paranoid behavior which was not symptoms patient entered with) she said no and that she didnt have interactions with him. No willingness to help and was extremely rude. Hope other staff is better than her.

Only giving a star to be able to give a review! This place is absurd! Not only do they treat people like they are prisoners and crazy just because they have some mental health issues but then they don't give families time to be able to see their locked up families! And what the hell is with only one freaking hour a day?! Like I said they're treated like prisoners and no time to have visits plus children are not allowed to be in! Wth?! So my family is going to travel long distance to see my father but his granddaughter isn't allowed in! OH and only two people at a time! So his wife then his two daughters have to split up time in that measly hour to see their father?!!! All he needs is to be back on his depression and anxiety meds! Not locked up! This is causing more stress and anxiety on him and his family and there was no reason for him to be treated like this. My mother was only trying to get help cause his lovely doctor hasn't done right By him and he stopped talking his medicine so she thought they be able to get him to take his meds and he'd be able to go home with in a day or two not locked up! Nothing like causing so much stress on the patient and his wife! Oh and if children are not allowed in what about their poor children patients?! And just cause she's a child does not mean she's going to run around! She's a well behaved child! If you are going to go to this place do all you can to NOT go here... Do not walk... RUN!

Francesca is rating this business based on ken the lunatic being sent there after moving countless times trying to hide from CPs and having a 5 hour standoff with police when he refused to let CPS in his home for a wellness check on his children. That’s sick. Way to try and ruin the reputation of this business just doing its job to push your sick agenda. She obviously does t know his history of drug abuse and failure to cooperate with CPS and law enforcement. Follow the law, don’t do srigs and take care of your kids then you don’t have problems like this man has right now.. anyway onto a REAL review... My family member is staying here after suffering from PTSD after a mentally and physically abusive relationship in which she was held captive in a bedroom, yes a bedroom for 15 years. She was 99 pounds and had no idea any current events or the date. The nurses and social workers have been absolutely wonderful in coordinating her care and finding an appropriate medication to help with her crippling flashbacks insomnia and manic episodes. She has even said she feels so much better and is so hopeful for her future. Thank you so much barnasbas behavioral health for making this difficult tine much easier for both her and our family.

No this isnt a place you come for fun, but o You have rights they cant violate and they will, they will not release you when you wish to be they will throw pill after pill at you, lul you into some group therepy and when you ope. My husband was restrained from day one til discharge, yet they insisted he was not combative. Management declared him ready to discharge against the Dr.’s opinion and then told me, “it’s not his decision to make”. She had never even met my husband. This facility is right out of a horror movie. That’s why they prohibit phones.

It’s a business. They will keep you there to make money. If you have a legitimate addiction problem or are truly manic maybe it’s a different story. They contradicted my diagnosis after telling me there is nothing wrong and were releasing me with no prescription or follow up. They switched it the next day and the psychiatrist scolded me and told me to “watch out or I can end up back in there and the next time I won’t be so lucky and will be stuck there”. Also one of the staff was hostile and kept provoking patients

This place literally saved my life on more then one occasion. I’m very surprised at all the bad reviews. I walked around for years never knowing why I never felt 100% normal. thanks to the staff Here, I got properly diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and am now living a normal happy life! The staff here is loving and caring they actually wanna here you if you are sad and go out of their way daily to just ask you how you are. Your meds are read off to you as you are given them and your never “forced” to take anything! I’ve heard patients strait up say no i don’t like how I feel on that. The nurse said hold on, marked it in the book and called the doctor. I think people see what they wanna see. The only thing I’d change would be the food lol! Even the rooms are better then most places!

A FAILURE IN ALL WAYS DEEMED TO BE A PROGRESS ORIENTED ESTABLISHMENT GEARED TOWARDS DISCHARGE AND RECOVERY. THEY ARE CLUELESS AND UNEXPERIENCED.WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE PATIENT I WAS VISITING AS TO PARTICIPATION IN THE DAILY PROGRAMS,THEY REPLIED WE DON'T FORCE ANYONE."HELLO" MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE NEED TO BE FORCED,THEY ARE LIKE INFANTS -LOOKING FOR DIRECTION.OR THEY WILL ROT AWAY IN THEIR ROOMS, AS WAS THE CASE WITH OUR LOVED ONE. I agree with the other two posts. The psychiatrist and nurse practitioners are awful. The social worker flat out lied about my daughter regarding a medication. My daughter was getting more depressed and anxious being in this facility. After my daughter was discharged, she decided to try the outpatient program. The NP that she was assigned to was very unprofessional and making ridiculous comments to her. I left a message with the supervisor of the program who did not even have the decency to return my call. Needless to say, my daughter refused to go back there. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

First and foremost, this facility gets a lot of disgruntled, severely mentally ill patients who don't think they need help, so read the reviews wisely and keep that in mind. Second, this place is really amazing. The staff is very courteous, many of the other patients barked orders at them like dogs in short term care. I feel very bad for them, they get no respect. The place could need remodeling but that's another topic. Haha. Thanks for the first step in help. Much appreciated. Great facility.

Failure to diagnose me properly and still continue to bill me for services they couldn’t even perform appropriately! The counselor I had was soo nasty to me, I had to practically beg to have a one on one session with her! So if the counselor isn’t sitting with me and the dr. (Who changed 3 times while I was outpatient there) saw me for all of 5 minutes, please tell me how in the hell they could say anything about me? Thy knew nothing about me!!! Pathetic excuse for an outpatient program for any type of mental health. Oh and if you have a panic or anxiety attack, just go sit in the hallway quietly alone! That was their solution for that issue. Seriously?! Who trains these people? I’ll NEVER pay that bill!!!! Oh and the nasty counselor I had, moved on over to Genpsych so I left there too! They had the audacity to put her with me even though it made me uncomfortable. I wanna know where these people get their licenses! Beware of both places!

The emergency room staff was very professional and friendly. Considering I came in with a problem and anxieties running high the experience with the hospital was very good. Trying to work out a billing issue, but the care given was great.

I want to point out, the center is not somewhere people go for fun. So naturally it's easy to write a miserable review. I had close family there, and I only saw concerned staff. Even the security was upbeat and helpful.
