I admitted my child in there. The next day I went to go and see my child she was crying. She has asthma and had an attack and they didn't even give her pump. My child told me how they treat them at night. This place need to be checked out because we send our children to these type of places for help. Brentwood will never get a recommendation from me.

Jarvis Williams

Dont bring your children here

I will never ever freaking bring my son back to this place ever again. He has been there for a little over two weeks, they never once sent in a request to have his school work sent to him and now he is behind in school.you have to jump through rigs of fire to speak to anyone. His theripst that was assigned to him is no longer his theripst and has not been since the third day he came there. I am very disappointed in this place. They keep holding him because he tells " little white lies." Like did you finish your dinner, and he says yes and he did not eat all on his tray and that's a lie. To a 11 year old getting full and eating all you want is finishing what they want. It is not a damn lie. I suggest you take your loved one to another place. When I get my son out, I will never make him go back. Sorry excuss for a business.

Thanks Brentwood behavior health care this is a great place the staff and nurses are always helpful and nice to you on your stay with them way better than any other behavior health care place that I have been to thanks again so much staff and nurses God bless you all

I have placed 3 children here and all 3 liked the place and they are all doing better in life for going here. I adopted children with abuse issues and they were turning into abusers.

i was in Brentwood for a week. everyone staying there was mistreated by staff and were told we “set ourselves up for bullying.” a staff member also told a girl who had self harmed in her arms that it made her look “ugly and gross” and that “no one wants to touch her when she looks like that.” also they had male staff members waking us up and walking into our rooms without knocking or asking if we were clothed and i was walked in on twice. i would not recommend sending anyone here.

Absolutely traumatic. I hear absolute horror stories about this place. You come in with medium anxiety and come out with ptsd and horrible aversion to social interaction. The staff abuse these kids. Surprised they haven’t been shut down yet.

Lauren Peavy

A pure joke back in 2005 and 2007. From the look of the reviews, looks like it's gotten worse.

I went here in the summer of 2016. Very nice therapy. The medicine, however, made me gain weight when i had lost 40 pounds. I gained it all back. Anyways, the gym there was nice. But the beds were a tad bit uncomfortable. The pillows were flat. Also, the weekend staff were really great! i was in female adolescent. The short haired lady who worked as the daily week staff, however, was really rude. It was a nice place though.

Brentwood helped me with the lose of my wife after 36 years of a Happy marriage. The Counseling Staff run the Group Therapy with great skills and with very intense topics and emotional issues!!! The negative issue was the Doctor over us as patients was more concerned about getting to his office faster so he could go.

JJ Girrrls

My father had issues and idk what it was but they just said he was an alcoholic yeah he was but that doesn’t make sense this place made my father hang himself now i have to suffer the concinquences because they didn’t do their job guys don’t go here please find somewhere else I had to go to park wood it’s much better and I am 99.99% recovered they helped me very much and now I’m all better I wasn’t very close to my father but now I am determined to shut this place down so no one else looses a father/ loved one if I could give a star rating for it would be 0. Warning DO NOT GO HERE PLEASE

The staff is so rude. You should be treated like mentally ill patients who need help and you're treated with the most diserspect.

This facility is very misleading and they don't give you with any in sight. Before you take your child there be sure you read everything. Mainly ask about the 5 day release and sign it cuz if you don't they will keep your child long as they chose too. The therapists say they gone call but never do and she point blank told me that the doctor would not call me and he did not the whole 12 days he was there and the therapist didnt either. They got paid for just housing him because he was not on medication because I refused it. Upon discharge they wouldn't give a time and when I came to discharge him I had to wait 3 hours. These people are only here for a check they could careless about your child. Especially Dr. BYRD. How you gone treat my child without me beubg involved. Personally this facility need to be evaluated and properly managed. They do a very poor job of informing you on anything concerning your child. Very unprofessional!! I will be taking other measures to assist in this matter..my child matters to me even if it don't to them..i missed my son's basketball banquet for there foolishness.I advise you to your child somewhere that is compassionate about your concerns for your child. This is not the place to be..

I was a patent here before and the nurses can put on there happy face but once the parent leaves the nurses are not as nice as they pretend to be. Try asking the kids there there opinion and then judge...not all the kids/teens there will lie they will tell you what is really up.

Baylee Dickinson

this place is literally trash. i was forced into brentwood, and once my parents said that i wouldn't go in, their social worker threatened our family so therefore i was forced to go to this hell hole. this awful, bad workers, semi okay nurses, and good doctors.. but having good doctors doesn't make up for the absolute worst staff,, they don't care about people with mental illnesses,, they are terrible to the female adolescent patients..i spent 7 days in this facility and those 7 days were hell, i was served bad food, treated like a prisoner just because i was depressed..DONT NOT GO HERE from the fake "pretend to be nice until the parents leave." staff to the pettiness that you get for asking for a simple pair of socks,, get rid of the staff and maybe you'll have a couple more stars,, honestly i wish i could give negative stars

DO NOT LET THIS JAIL BILL YOUR INSURANCE!!! My son has gone to Brentwood 3 times and came out worse each time. This last time they say we have this new residential program and we would like ur son to be the first resident in their program CROSSROADS that place is a train wreck my son was at Disneyland going on field trips as eating all day he gained 40lbs he got ask the juice and soda he desired the school system was 3 grades behind the work he does in Clinton the director Alyssa was incompetent and we new they was short on staff and the kids in acute care got more calls and visits than the kids there for the long run. My kid behavior got worse while they pushed more medicine and no therapy. They limited his visitation and passes to 2 hours even on birthdays and holidays and that's if they can remember to put it in. Bottom line my kid got beat up several times by 17 year old state custody kids he then was denied phone call and no visits until he healed. I went and got him AMA and was denied his report card school work and medicine at discharge and they even screwed up the paperwork saying sorry it's our first time!

Christopher Kimble

This place is NOT where you want to send your child, Ours is there now, was supposed to be discharged yesterday, the staff told us we have a meeting with the doctor today, what time do we need to be there? No answer, I take off half a days work to be there and the doctor still hasn't got there. Screw this place!!!!

Young trooper Bunch

This place traumatized me. I went there for 7 days and all I got from it was PTSD. The staff blame you and say they only do it for the money. This is terrible on kids with depression anxiety or other things that people can not control. They humiliate you. Even saying that the reason you are there for that long and the tiniest things keep you there longer is for them so they can get money. It is total prison and all they do is keep you safe. Which even doing that makes you feel like you aren’t.

Shaquenna Arrington

I don't recommend this facility if you're a parent or concerned family member! They are quick to pump medicine in adolescents and young children without consent from parents or legal guardian. They talk nice until your child is admitted to the unit. Don't expect to talk with your child doctor often at this facility. Our experience with this facility is a 1 Star!

Worst place with a narcissist overseeing and providing unnecessary medicine based on mood. Never send your child here.

TL;DR: Brentwood messed up my mental health more than it helped. I wish I could give one star. I finally realised how to sum up my experience here, albeit a while since I was there (was admitted late February). I was on a 72-hour suicide watch. Because they don't count weekends as days (which is literal BS), I was there for five six days. I was finally admitted after several hours of waiting and got into the girls unit at 5pm. They got me a dinner and I felt welcomed by one of the night staff members. They checked my thoroughly and took away my binder (which was no harm to me but I needed it for mental sake). An hour passed and I felt like I was constantly being watched over. Not because of the cameras, not because of the other girls, but because of the other staff. They were rude and never gave into account of mental illness. You could tell they were in it for the pay check. Since the girls' unit was full, me and a few girls were placed in Obs unit, which is on the boys side. Nice. Regular bedtime on weekdays (minus Friday, including Sunday) was 9~9:30. Obs had to go to bed at 11:30. Regular wake up was 6:30 6:45, Obs was 5:30. Just because we were not even a few hallways down. So sleeping was useless. Staff is loud during the night once you actually get an on-unit room, woken up multiple times because of staff. Quiet time is a punishment. If even ONE bad apple gets loud, everyone has to be quiet Group therapy was useless. I don't remember anything in it because everyone kept getting off topic. The coping mechanisms they explained were ones that wouldn't do anything for the majority as well you can't do them unless you're not in school. The art therapy in the morning is incredibly annoying. The only outside time you get, if any, is on the weekends with Mrs. Glen (if that's her name, love her to death). They paid no attention to your triggers or what may help you. My medicine was partially the reason I was so irritable and tired and Dr. Byrd upped my dosage. I basically had to lie to get out because one wrong move or if you say the wrong thing, they add more useless time. I'm not saying this because I'm a child who didn't get what he wanted. I'm saying this because Brentwood isn't a healthy environment. Most of the staff don't even recognise an anxiety attack. I had a panic attack my second day there and if I sat down, I'd be put on red (which would add three days to my stay). Combine exercise (which I am not fit) and hyperventilating from the panic attack, I'm surprised I didn't pass out. Brentwood kind of has the right resources but they are not executing them properly. This place could be so much better if they actually had caring staff who could recognise mental illness. There was a girl there who almost got a tranq because of an outburst. You know what would have fixed the outburst? Help. Not a tranq shot. I left Brentwood more suicidal than I was and more of a danger to myself. I’ve developed more triggers as a result. Please do not send your kid to Brentwood.

I went in to get info on outpatient counseling services this morning. I had a bad feeling about the place from the start. For starters, we had just been told to lock up all of our possessions, and were locked in a small hallway with a room to the side, and I felt the interviewer was making us wait too long just to get started. It basically felt like a prison from the start. (keep in mind, I walked in to get info. I was not sent there by a judge, etc). Anyway, When the lady finally came back from walking the paperwork across the hall, I told her I was done and I am leaving. She informed me I cannot leave. I quickly informed her I know my rights, so she needs to go get my stuff promptly and open the door. She proceeded to try to ask my son questions, which i told him not to answer any of. Basically, I had to advise her 3 times that she was violating our rights and I wasn't going to stand for it. She then got up, threw her hands up and walked in another room and made a call saying that we were trying to leave (as if those bastards were going to stop me from leaving). She then comes back in with a paper that she asked me to sign. She says "oh, it's just stating that your son is leaving with you." What it actually stated was basically that a physician had recommended in-patient care, and we were leaving against that recommendation. (again, we hadn't even gotten past the registration for interview yet). I told her I am not signing anything and politely gave her the paper back.. and she finally got my stuff and let us out. I called the supervisor, who informed me that apparently when you step into Brentwood for info, you are relinquishing your rights. They're all full of crap is what they are. I hope this helps at least one person to not put their child in this Hell hole, or even use them for any services.

I am pleased with the service at Brentwood. They have wonderful nurses, who allow you to speak with your child over the phone. Also, the therapist communicates clearly about your child. My child was medicated heavily; however, he no longer had anxiety. When he was released, they had a plan in place for him. His medication was reduced and he is an active teenager. I went everyday to see my child and every weekend. I am grateful for Brentwood helping me with my son’s anxiety. I enjoyed the staff and I am thankful for great improvements in my son!!!! Hats off to an amazing staff!

Chantinise Howell

They have great service and the staff has great training and give good care...i like it at brentwood.

I'll give them 1 star for the parking because that's the only thing I was PLEASED with! This place is garbage. It's nothing what the professionals say it is. It's actually more of a jail for kids. My granddaughter was admitted on Thursday & still had not received toothpaste, deoderant, etc. on Saturday, but before I took her there they said they would provide what she needed for personal hygiene. She has a pacemaker & a history of fainting but nothing was done when she said she feel faint. I would NEVER let another child go there!

4 The Moment Studios

I went here several times as an adolescent 2001 and 2002. There were tons of fights. The staff there just yell at people or even verbally harass them. They think pills solve everything . If you felt sad you were given a pill. If you felt mad you were given a pill. If you had a nightmare you were given a pill. By the time I left that place my last time I had a pillbox bigger than my grandmother did. I threw all the prescriptions out once I turned 17 and I never ever looked back. This is an evil place funded by Big corporation pharmacies. Some of the medication I had back then I have looked up and still cannot find any information on and then it was revealed they test prototype medications on patients- in layman's terms this means if you go there you are their guinea pig for experiments. Do not send your children here and do not go here as an adult. This place will not help you.

My child recently had a stay here where they asked us to bring him for "an assessment" when they were through he was to come home. Nope they ball faced lied!! Had me sign a paper that amended yet they time stamped signed dated as if it was legal. It amounted to nothing. I fought 4 long grueling days with the cops, attorney's, doctors, i never left the facility. I napped in my car and stayed in the lobby. I live a few hours away. Finally after numerous calls and emails to the government senator and justice center he was released AMA of course even though the had no diagnosis for him or could not see any problems with him. I currently am seeking any other parents/ patients who were done wrong by this facility. I am leading a class action lawsuit against them. The more support we have the better. This place is a joke at best!!! Please help support us please get involved! Thank you!

this place is obviously trash and should be put out of business

Over the years Brentwood has really went down. Most of the staff act like they could care less. They are rude and some would even yell at patients. With the exception of Katie and Floyd, they were awesome! The environment is boring and depressing, the only main activity was watching TV. The food was okay though. But,I'd have to say the doctor was the worst. So,I would not advise ANYONE to seek treatment here. If you must go anywhere,St.Dominic's is a much better hospital.

Aliyah Jenkins

This place was like a prison for mentally ill patients. The week staff treats every one horrible like they were just working for the pay check they didn't care about us. The weekend staff was awesome I'd like to thank Mrs.Devita and Mrs.Gwen for treating me so well for my stay.

HELL ON EARTH! I was placed here when I was 6 years old for a week. It felt like a lot longer. This is the reason I now have a phobia of Silence and Isolation. Let me go over some things that went on there. They locked me in a "safe room" for 14 hours, no food or water, BECAUSE I cried because I missed my parents. The safe room was a 6x6 concrete cell with a mat on the floor and a thick, metal door. I got sick because they gave me pills on an empty stomach and puked, one of the male orderly there threatened me that he would rub my face in my puke if I puked again. I was being bullied by 2 girls while a orderly was watching me, I finally stood up and told them to stop and she grabbed me roughly, pushing me to the ground and drug me into the "safe room" while the other girls laughed. When we were "really" bad, in other words if we "talked back" to a orderly we we get some kind of injection in the behind that would make us "sleep" for 48 hours. I didn't get that thankfully, but another kid did. One of the male orderlies shoved a kid into the table and the kid busted his head open. I watched the orderly explain to the kid's parents that he "fell". My parents would sometimes bring me books and the orderlies would promise my parents I'd get to read them, only to snatch them out of my hands when my parents left. We weren't allowed to tell our parents that anything was wrong, a kid told their parents about how the orderlies were "mean" to him, he got snatched up after the phone call ended and thrown in the "safe room". If you even spent an extra minute in the shower, you'd get dragged out nude and still wet into the sitting area where the other kids were, you didn't get a warning and there were no clocks to see the time. I could go on, but this is upsetting to write. It's been 16 years, yet I still fear this place and have nightmares. Certain smells in hospitals will give me total mental breakdowns. Oh and on top of all this, they caused me Depakote poisoning. When I got out I was having blackouts and other symptoms and was rushed to the ER, turns out most of my white blood cells were wiped out from the Depakote, nearly killing me. I still suffer lasting damages from the Depakote poisoning.

Brentwood was the first treatment center I was ever admitted to. As opposed to another hospital I was in, Brentwood was a lot better. It had its pros and cons. Pros: I was able to have a nap everyday. It really helped me not feel so drowsy. I really enjoyed group therapy. The therapist was fantastic. He always knew how to make us smile. I got along with most of the other patients. I didn't feel like an outcast. Some of the staff was very nurturing and understanding. The food was great. Very healthy and tasty. I got a phone call every single night, and visitation every other day. Make-up was allowed. I was allowed to bring books to read Cons: Some of the staff was terrible. They would shout and yell at us, and it was not comforting. Sometimes I felt bullied by them. The education was an absolute JOKE. I did not like having my medicine mixed up. I got in trouble for the effects that new meds had on me, because I didn't know what the new emotions I was feeling were. I felt so lonely, depressed, and alone the entire time. I just was not happy. I felt trapped and scared.

Dwight K. Schrute

this place was hell

This place is literal trash, and so is the staff. It deserves to get shut down.

dxddy

it was an okay experience , food was great and my peers were decent. The staff could be better tho , some of them didn't care about the people there.

Mimi Finley

This place is a joke. The adolescent and children facility doesn't even deserve one star. You come here for help with behavior, disorders , depression, anxiety, etc. And you come out feeling more low than before you went in. I felt "free" once I left. The so called people that are there for you "nurses" laugh and make fun of you . Scream and cuss at you . I am very respectful too. I say yes mam and no sir and I got treated like dirt. Oh and they DO NOT care if you're upset or sick. You are pathetic and lazy and self centered to them. They are paid and that's all they care about . Trained ? Please.. ! You have no heart for people with problems. The children would come in for lunch in the cafeteria and get told "you can't have seconds , you have to watch your weight"(told to a 6 year old). The children are screamed at and talked to like they are nothing. Sure you're stressed but if you didn't want to be a psychological Healthcare worker you shouldn't have majored in it. You should quit your job if you actually aren't going to care. There was one. I repeat only one nice nurse. She gave me a painting book and always smiled at me and never rushed me. I loved her. The only one. I hate this place with a passion. It didn't help. NEGATIVE PLACE . NEGATIVE PEOPLE.

I was there for 6 days and attended group therapy after. I liled the staff members as well. I definitely feel that it helped me with my anxiety, depression, and self- harming tendencies.

Rachel Lynn Franklin

I have been here twice, once when I was 17, and again when I was 21, and have always appreciated everything they did for me. I enjoyed group therapy more than anything. The second time, I was there through the New Year holiday and they brought us Pizzahut pizza, juice, and soft drinks. They even bought special cups from Dollar Tree for us to pour juice in. I was very touched and still am that they were so kind and sweet on the New Year holiday. I mean, they were always nice, but especially on the New Year holiday and they were so thoughtful and it meant a lot to me, especially on the holiday. Cannot express enough how kind they were. The only bad thing is that there's not much to do. There were a lot of awesome activities provided for us when I was 17, but when I was 21 and in the adult unit, there was really mostly nothing to do except watch TV and they allowed me to write as much as I wanted in my journal but some activities would have been great. The people (patients and staff) were lovely and I will never forget them especially the patients!!!!! You guys will always have a special place in my heart, Perry and Mr. Billy. Thank you for showing me that not all men are bad. And thank you so much for your friendship while the three of us were in this hospital!
