Amazing and caring staff that works to tailor the program to meet your individual needs. Instead of feeling like just a number, you actually feel like a cared about human being! They have everything you need right there from applicatible skills groups, process groups, trauma therapy, an at home worker and medication management. In addition, they have free peer support groups and give support as long as you need it. When you fall they are right there to help you through- it instead of kicking you out like most programs. I cannot say enough good about this program and how grateful I am to the exceptional staff and to founder Paula Desanto.

If you have a broken leg you go to a doctor. If you struggle with mental health you go to a therapist or a psychiatrist. If your mental health issues include substance issues, then you might try Minnesota alternatives. This is a no judgement, No Label, alternative to the traditional 12 step, pass fail, stringent and more draconian style of treatment we are all familiar with. One should not feel ashamed if one has struggles in life. Everybody struggles sometimes with some things. I have been going to Minnesota alternatives for about 2 weeks primarily for cigarettes. Cigarettes are extremely hard to quit, I need skills, support, and some outside responsibility to get the job done. After 34 years of smoking, I feel grateful that Minnesota Alternatives is here, and available to meet my needs and to help me achieve my goal of becoming a non-smoker.

I also see my psychiatrist Dr. Sawyer here, as well as my therapist Allie Lucas. I have been doing sessions with her, twice a week for the last 6+ months.
