Very unprofessional, therapist Christina decided to cancel my very first appointment only a few hours before my appointment. Set aside today for this, now its all messed up. Thought contacting them would help me, not make things worse.

My husband stopped his appointments and they continued to charge him an additional 9 times for appointments he didn't have and demanded payment or threatened collections! Outrageous!

Jennifer Nielsen

Staff very rude and condescending.

To note- this review isn’t in regards to the actual therapy because we didn’t even get that far. This is about their response time; it took a week and a couple of follow up calls for just the first outreach to me from the therapist, Susan, who didn’t contact the patient at all. Then no answer again for another week. So the following Monday, we called the main office to make sure didn’t miss anything (with the insurance, wrong number, etc.or an emergency etc. on their end), as this was for a loved one, and there could have been a disconnect. Nope-and they didn’t seem too worried about it, either, from a customer service aspect, which is probably more concerning. Considering it’s a mental health treatment facility to help people and a for profit business, I don’t understand why there was such a lack of urgency in even just an initial welcome call to the patient; I would think these clinics would be especially sensitive and caring. On to the next...

Firstly, billing issues. I have gotten bills for visits I paid up front, or that they billed my old insurance when I had already given them the new information. Second, when I call the psychiatrist to talk about my kids medications, I'd like a call back in a day or two at most, not bordering on 2 weeks after leaving multiple messages.

I have been seeing a therapist here for about 6 months now to help with my anxiety attacks. I have learned a lot from my sessions and I have really appreciated all of the strategies that my therapist provided to manage my anxiety. When I feel an attack coming on I know how to handle it using the strategies from my therapist. I can't thank KaraLee and Associates enough for all of their help.

Wonderful staff. Jill is my psychiatrist and she is amazing. Goes above and beyond for me. Explains all the medications in a way that makes it easy for me to understand. I was off my medicine for almost a year, I started back on them in January and I'm doing so much better now. My life now has meaning again. I would recommend this place to anybody suffering with mental health . 5 stars for sure

Ellen was great!! She’s so good at listening and giving great advice and actually making sure she’s making it personal and not being robotic. She’s also very knowledgeable of psychological issues and traumas. Thank you so much Ellen.

If you have the option through health insurance or paying out of pocket pricing when looking for counseling resources in south eastern Michigan - Please stay away from KaraLee and Associates located in Plymouth. Not speaking to the level of care you will receive there, but I had nothing but billing issues that were 100% the fault of the employees at this business. I chose the business because they were covered by our insurance. I gave them the information for our insurance before even looking at possible therapists. They chose the therapist for me, based off of our insurance information. I received my first bill and found out that the therapist that they chose was not actually covered by our insurance. They worked out a deal with me (because she was going through the process of being approved for our insurance) so I could keep seeing her. When I ended my time seeing her (for non-monetary related reasons), I were told that she had just been approved through our insurance and that there would be some prorating and then I would get a final bill. This was in July of last year. I contacted them multiple times since July, and was told the same thing each time - that it hadn't gone through the insurance yet, and I didn't have a final billing amount, so I couldn't pay a final balance since they didn't have one for me yet. I had been consistently making payments to them through my visits, so it's also not like I hadn't paid anything to them. In February or March I contacted them again, stating that I still hadn't received a final bill, and that I wanted to be done with whatever balance that I had there. They resubmitted my information again, and promised me that there would be no surprise collection agencies coming after me, and that I would get a final bill from them soon and that I had nothing to worry about since I had been making payments while going there, and it was an obvious insurance issue. GUESS WHO JUST GOT A COLLECTIONS LETTER IN THE MAIL TODAY? I'm a little pissed if you can't tell. Aside from the fact that I don't have time for this right now, I continually was in contact with them regarding the balance and wanting to pay it off, and this still happens. While I know there's not much I can do about it aside from pay it, if it shows up on my credit report, I'm gonna have some words. And some actions. Long story short, if you can avoid it, don't give your business to KaraLee and Associates in Plymouth.

My husband was seen by the therapist Dr Jacob Rosen. He was reffered the psychiatrist for meds for severe depression. After several months he became physcially ill. Started to throw up and lost 35 pounds. My husband had 2 appointments once each week the last 2 weeks we used their services. On the day of the first appt. I called because he was sick with flu like symptoms the day of. I asked them if they prefer him to come in or stay home with his symptoms. I told them we can come because we do not want to be assessed a fee. They said they wanted him to stay home to avoid getting anyone sick. And they would waive the missed appt fee. To call next week when his next appt came. My husband was still very sick. We got the same response. Dont bring him, we will waive the fee. I didnt even bother making a new appointment because I was very concerned with my husbands weight loss. I took him to the hospital instead. Where they said his meds need to be changed and he admitted to the doctors that he felt like the meds were giving him suicidal thoughts and causing him to be physically ill. They admitted my husband for a week. Next thing you know my husband is in collections for the 120 dollars of missed appointment fees. I called to resolve the issue based on the promise they made to waive the fee. They told me No they will not take care of me. And ignored me.so we stopped going there. But now my husband has a bill in collections effecting his credit that should have never been assessed. I cannot believe this place and there lack of professionalism, inability to keep their promises, and the audacity to put their patients in a financial situation that could have been avoided if they wouldnt have made broken promises. My husband was willing to come to the appointments and they asked us to please stay home and not bring the puking their way. If I could give them negetive stars or no stars I would. No compassion. Not good people.

I need advise. Same stories as below. They said they had to verify my insurance they said my insurance covered visits (then it didn't) I paid the medical bills out of pocket. I am now getting calls from a collection agency saying I owe them $$. Last time I went here was in 2016 and paid off my bills. Is there anything I can do? My credit is now being wrecked.

OK. I am 36. . I decided to try seeing a counselor close to home. Don't let the" cute" house and name fool you. This place has "No Idea" what's going on. I get there and they forgot my appointment. Gave me to a different person (so called counselor) did all there paperwork which they are suppose to read. They loose that so now I'm 2 weeks in. 2 appointments and they have no idea who I am. He had me sign a paper that we had at session. He saw me for 20 minutes but that paper is all they need so it looks like sessions are complete. I could have talked with my hand and had less stress. Karalee...how cute. Blind leading the blind. You will feel like your at welfare department...save you time...oh I can't forget in that 20 mins that was suppose to be for me. He was taking calls and setting other appts. All they do is waste time. They should be shut down soon

Unprofessional, condescending, judgmental staff! They told me if I needed anything to give them a call. Well I did and one woman started yelling at me telling me I should not be getting prescriptions without seeing the doctor. Well he's not available for months, what do you want me to do? Get sick? Very compassionate...not! Then I called on a Saturday and some brain dead girl answers and just says "mhmm" while I tell her I'm suffering from depression. My initial visit was very comforting, but I don't know what happened! They must have hired these losers off the street! I'm very disappointed in this place.

We have dealt with this practice for years. This is a poorly managed practice. They have trouble keeping qualified psychiatrists on staff. My children have seen a total of 4 psychiatrist since they started there. One would literally fall asleep during our session. The last one we really liked, she took her time and invested in her patients. However, she left after a few months because of the way the practice was mismanaged. Their nurse practitioner claims she can no longer prescribe controlled substances to adults. According to the receptionist, that's because they are under investigation by the state. The company that handles their billing is a complete and utter mess. Constant problems trying to have insurance billed correctly. If it wasn't for the fantastic relationship and care we get from our therapist (the ONLY person we will see and reason we will stay) we would have left a long time ago. As it is, I have sought psychiatric services from a more capable facility. This place is not worth the headache.

Better look elsewhere. Trying to get an appointment is difficult. Then getting the doctor to show up, and be respectful of your time, is not worth the effort. Perhaps the director should take a few bucks and buy his employees some clocks. We will be looking elsewhere.

I've seen two therapist's here and one physiologist and let me tell you, they are WONDERFUL people. I'm not sure why there's so many bad reviews but the people here CARE. they've all helped me in different aspects of my life and I'm forever grateful for Karalee and Dr. Nowak, John and Anne Marie.

James Burger

Been going here on and off for a couple years. Never had any trouble with staff or billing. Genuinely don't know where all the vitriol is coming from, doctors are professional and staff is friendly.

Nick El-Takach

I called the office and scheduled an appointment and followed the process, based on my first visit, I was scheduled an appointment with Doc Nowack 2.5 month later, few days before the appointment, I got a call that my appointment was canceled because I didn't see the therapist since and he was the one who scheduled my appointment with the Doc. Get organized with your process and procedure and be on the same page in your office. They waisted my time and money.

J Bung

So far so good. I would change my rating to 5 stars if I didn’t have to book the doctor out 2 months in advanced. Having to go through the process of getting diagnosed for add is sort of ridiculous, 2 appointments and one is a 3 hour long testing session, that’s literally a test?!? I’ve lived with add most of my life, and I’d like to say I’m above average in intelligence, but taking a test seems silly. Ive learned to cope when I’m not medicated, but I’ve seen how well I’ve done with the medication so I suppose I’ll jump through the hoops. To see the Doctors you must regularly see your therapist, which I have no problem doing, but sometimes I just don’t have anything to talk about and it seems like a waste of our time to meet. 3 Stars because: having to wait so long to see doctor, having to jump through hoops to get specific meds, not being aware of what types of therapy each therapist practices. Would give more stars if they added more doctors to their teams.

I’ve been coming to Karalee for about a year now without issue. The employees truly care about helping you. Dr. Nowak is wonderful and helps me so much. I have such sensitivity to medication, but she’s so understanding and lovely. I also usually am quite scared to see psychiatrists because of all the questioning, accusations, and overall unpleasant experiences I have had since I was a child. Dr. Nowak is nothing like this. I love her soft voice and how she truly shows sympathy. Karen is a great therapist. When I am having a particularly rough time, she can make me laugh. She understands me. She listens to me. She empathizes with me. I love this place and I do not understand the negative comments.

Emily Rowerdink

I have been in and out of psychiatrists and therapists as long as I can remember and this is the first place I have ever stuck to. I have been seeing Kelsey and Jill for 2 years now and cannot say enough good things about my time with them. I would highly recommend this office.

Going for 5 years now. Very helpful. I could not have started regaining my ability to write (my career) without them.

Tony Koenig

Take these negative reviews with a grain of salt. Kara Lee & Associates have been nothing short of friendly, professional and extremely helpful. This place has done wonders for my mental health and I look forward to continuing on with them.

Cas Briar

Wow, I'm surprised by the low score! I can't speak to other counselors there, but I've been seeing Karen Shernit for about a year and a half and would recommend her to anyone seeking a compassionate therapist.
