In the late 1970's I was in Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital for 7 months. A male nurse violently physically abused me because once I wouldn't swallow Thorazine. He is retired now and no longer a threat to others so I will not name him. Over 3 decades have past and I still have the effects of PTSD (self-diagnosed) from my stay at KRPH. I am now a Certified Peer Support Specialist and it is my joy to help others affected by mental illness and its treatment. (I have recently (7/19) talked with the Director of KPH. I am very hopeful there has been/will be more positive change).
