Lied about my diagnosis, mistreats and disrespects patients; totally unprofessional. They overprescribe meds and falsely assumed obscene things about my family (I will not go into any details). Pure greed. They chastise you for not "playing along" and following rules that are nigh impossible to follow. Keeping clean was hard as you have to ask permission to care of your own personal hygiene needs which they often deny you access to if the time is inconvenient to them. I missed far too many workdays as well. I had responsibilities outside this sorry institution, but they didn't care. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

Some of the staff there was actually looking out for the well being of my daughter/ son. My child was to sent there on a 72 hr. hold. Once they had her/him in their facility not care because they didn't care. My daughter/son went in with depression and anxiety which was diagnosed medically. I had to fight to get her/him out of there before they could do more harm to her/him. I wouldn't send a dead animal there because they suck the soul out of you and break you. My child has sleep terrors from that place. They also billed our insurance co for 4 days prior to hospitalization. Please do not listen about them helping and wanting the best for your loved one. The bottom line is lining their pockets and trying to keep innocent people inside their hell.

This facility would be great if the owners would put more money into a modern clean facility , more money into retaining the staff instead of vacations or giving it to there friends who work there. There is a high turn over of the staff there. There is only 1 person in Security that covers both BCOM and SBC so if a tragedy would happen all he can do is watch from the cameras at home. 2 people in Maintence who is not qualified at both locations. There is 4 people in housekeeping at both locations who is all older and can barely clean the rooms. There is mold and dust everywhere. Both facilities are bedbugs and mice. The mold is so bad it is in the water . There is favoritism among management and staff. They short change people on their checks , there is no raises, no bonuses , the insurance is horrible. The DON Kathy is antisocial and don't know her staff. The business is a cash cow and don't put any money into the building nor staff. They only accept patients with good insurance . Oh I forgot many people got a $0.13 raise after working there for years. The EHR system is garbage and it was a free system for them . The patients rooms are missing doors. They are not equipped for geriatric patients. They monitor the staff more than the patient safety . The lights are on 24/7 which agitates the patients. I would never recommend my family to go here and if they were sent there I would call the news station and the joint commission very quickly. Please help this place

This place is awful, I went there having a suicidal episode and they gave me a shot of a cocktail of downers... I couldn't walk and they expected me to partake in class with my head just hanging.... then I seen a doctor maybe 10 min out of the 2 weeks I was there and let's not forget to mention they have bedbugs!!!! Then they diagnose me bipolar and only gave me Zoloft and not a mood stabilizer!!! I came manic and left manic....

Eagerly misdiagnosed my condition after less than a day. Overprescibed medication that kept me drooling. No regard for patient health or wellness. The only way out is to cancel your insurance. Do that and they'll cut you loose the next day. Totally fraudulent, plus they bill over 400 per day. They held me 9 days on a 72 hour hold. Too bad it took me so long to nix my insurance. Do not pay their bill.

What goes on within this facility is frightening and wrong. Patients are held captive, confined to their floor and that only, forced to take an assortment of medications no matter how they feel. No fresh air, no exercise, sunlight barely seeps in; a bland daily routine of nothing, not very helpful to those with mental illnesses looking for recovery. Reckless patients, who of course deserve care too, are left to roam around and provoke others without much action and make for an eery, uncomfortable environment. They are threatened with some sort of shot or oral medication as a first resort when causing any kind of commotion. Upon visiting I felt very worried and concerned for the patients here. I can only hope they find some sort of proper help. Certainly the person I visited hadn’t. This really is not a place for 18 year old kids, or anyone for that matter. A modern day cuckoos nest-esque facility.

As a past senior staff member at Behavioral Center of Michigan i can attest that this facility is inadequately managed by the CEO, head nurse and other managers. The management has making money as their primary objective verses patient care. The facility is ofen understaffed and management will throw any employee under the bus during a Medicare audit. Supervision is non existent. This facility needs to replace its CEO and the Head Nurse. Psychiatrists visit faculity when they can fit it into their own schedules verses the identified schedule outlined in dauly operations. Medicare needs to maintain a close eye on this facility to ensure adequate patient cate. In short go somewhere else for psychiatric inpatient care except for Samaritan Behavioral Center as the same CEO and Head nurse oversee this hospital as well.

Horrible place, the building is dilapidated and falling apart to the point it looks abandoned. The staff are all inept and have no idea what's going on. I've been told different stories by every staff member was called to pick up my gf and then told I had to wait two hrs for a doctor once I got there. Horrible place. I was diagnosed with PSTD from my regular therapist when I was discharged from here. Ive been to multiple mental hospitals, and by far this one has been the most traumatic. The doctor will see you for literally 1 minute a day, if not less. They keep you there for at least 7 days no matter how bad your condition is. McLaren will transfer you here if you end up in their ER. Im begging you with every fiber of my being to go to a different hospital. The ward is TINY! You get your room, one short hallway and 2 little activity rooms. I was put in solitary confinement my first night there. Remembering anymore is too painful. God Bless everyone who has been abused by this hospital.

This place is nothing more than an insurance scam. They held my 20 year old sister here like a prisoner. Never once did a doctor reach out to contact us on her progress or release date even though she signed a form stating they could. By the end of her week stay they had diagnosed her with an eating disorder amongst other things because she had lost 3 lbs. That would happen to any normal individual under stress. How can a physician psychologically diagnose a patient they have known for a week when they only saw her for about 5 minutes every couple days? They just want to punch your insurance card this place is a nightmare and needs to be shut down. They have 7 different law suits against them that were settled out of court.

Couldn’t see my own mother because I’m not 18. What the heck kind of place is this? Staff just made me sit in the waiting room while they watched me cry. Nobody asked if I was okay. If you love someone, don’t send them here if they have kids. Their staff were also extremely late to the front desk because apparently it takes 4 people to fix “a flood on the 3rd floor”. ALSO, if you look “ugly” or “overweight” the staff WILL snicker amongst themselves once you aren’t paying attention.

Do anything and everything to not allow yourself or a loved one to enter this facility. I don't like that I even needed to give them one star. This place is an unorganized jail with no staff control. Facilty is absolutely filthy! Mold and mildew in the two showers...dirty sanitary napkins on the floor! This facility will allow the most outspoken patients take control of the entire floor and staff will stand by to watch. You will witness physical and verbal fights with the staff standing by and watching. You will be threatened by other patients and when you Alert staff, you will become a target. The stress that you will incur is unbearable...I lost weight and my hair was falling out as I was always on high alert as to what was going to happen next and whether I would become a target or get caught in the middle of a physical fight which happened several times and staff did nothing!!! An older gentleman was being physically abused by another patient. The abused called 911, when the police showed up they were turned away! This is not a place to get better, this is a place to survive.

In 2015 because of financial problems I decided that I would take my own life unfortunately. Because of this I ended up in this facility I had really good insurance and they milked it as much as they could and even more so after they milked the insurance they started milking me which is really crazy to me because that was a reason I was there for in the first place lack of finances just recently they went to court for what they overcharged me for and as I was trying to work and make up for other things working two jobs they went to court they garnish my check they garnish my check 25% every week I tried to reach out to them and they never return my call I need it to make payment Arrangements so that I wouldn't be experiencing what I'm experiencing now my DTE and water are in shut off status and my car just got repoed. I want to tell u that this hospital changed my life the 1st time i was there. I came home and was a new perso. Of course i was there 4 3 weeks. However, this hospital has u fill out a questionnaire asking if u would come back. Well...guess what its almost a year later and i am worse than ever and they r referring me to other places that never helped b4. I wish this hospital and its staff my disorder!! Scitzo number 1. Bi polar number 2. Now i want to cry 4 wasting my time asking 4 help. I would rather go to hell than b a fool!

This hospital was the worst excuse for a mental ward I have ever seen. I was admitted there in October of 2016, and they had optional group once a day only during the week that no one went to. The staff couldn't be bothered, and would rather avoid us and watch the cameras than to actually check in on the patients. The psychiatrist Dr. Medina does not listen and makes no effort for her patients. I, along with other patients, was promised a specific discharge date and then ended up held over a weekend in which nothing happens and you're just billed for the extra days. The hospital itself was freezing, and I could see the springs in the mattress. The food was almost inedible, which is inconvenient since they take note if you don't eat and it can extend your stay. I would never recommend this place to anyone, it was of no help to me and I left no better than when I was admitted.

The food could use some improvements, they could include an additional enclosed outdoor activity area somewhere down the line. Other than that I had a pleasant experience and was treated well by the staff, disagree with a medication alteration, but I think my doctor may help with that, because she's more aware of my neurological problems. Other than that I was able to clear my mind, sink coffee, have snacks, was kind and treated kindly. You must understand that the staff can't give you medication until physicians order it. Please be patient!

I went to St John's on hoover and 12 asking for a new antidepressant. I was having side effects and they sent me here for 7 days. It's a voluntary commitment scam!! It's a way for them to legally have you committed for a way to get the insurance companies. Yeah I have my problems because I have M.S. This place screwed me up. I had no identity but a bracelet. Was put on meds just from me saying I thought I was adhd. Put on adderall 10mg 3 times a day. They put me on the same meds I was on that made me go to the er to begin with. In the end the dr still prescribed me the same antidepressant For double the dose that I was taking before I went to have it changed because of side effects. If you are not crazy. This place will make you that way. Had to attend groups. Had to be social. Had to play the game to get out. They deemed me superficial because I kept saying I really wasn't supposed to be there. I believe the hosp. and them work together to get money,. They let me a girl, and a detoxing heroin addict go in 7 days. I kept in touch with the girl and the heroin addict ended up relapsing. I knew he did have enough time. Ridiculous. Spread the word. This just happened last From the 25th of Aug- 2nd of Sept. 2014 This doesn't even scratch the service

This place is such a poor place for mental healthcare. PLEASE if your family member has to EVER go here. Call any other hospital and get them transferred out. Mr. Baker, Jennifer and Dr Medina are poor excuses for employes being employed here. Medicaid NO LONGER uses this place. If your family member has Medicare and experiences any negative issues call Medicare and make a complaint. They need to throw this whole place away

I use the Pharmacy which located on the eastside of building. Its called BC Pharmacy and they have that old school Pharmacy atmosphere but they are still very very competitive if you have to pay out of pocket for your prescriptions. I followed Roger the Head Pharmacist from 2 different CVS locations and I would never go anywhere else but to BC Pharmacy. Roger is the head Pharmacist, Kelly, Tracy and Im sorry but I can't remember the other girls name but they are the Pharmacy Technicians. They are all very friendly. If I'm not Mistaken they take all major insurances and some off the wall ones. Blue Cross and Molina for sure.

I was not a patient of this hospital but my experiences along with my wife's are what drove me to give this review. If you're looking for a Psychiatric Hospital and actually expecting proper mental health, this isn't the place for you. Your one on one sessions with the Psychiatrist (Dr. Daniel Appel) last between 5 to 10 minutes once a day Monday through Saturday. Group therapy happens twice a day. The first one is exercise and stretches. The second is coloring books. Social Worker Carla Crawford likes to think she's a doctor and will introduce herself as such which is illegal and untrue. She's also as fake as they come. She'll tell you what you want to hear and play you like you're stupid while completely ignoring everything you say. I had set my wife up with a Psychiatric program in Livonia on a Thursday. She told my wife that she was going to call and verify. She never did. I called and she told me the same exact thing. Carla didn't call until 4 days later when my wife was getting discharged. She's as useless as can be. But that seems to be the theme with this place. While I was calling around trying to get a hold of my wife the operator at the hospital was rude and even laughed at me. Then she transferred me to a woman named Angela who was in Unit 1 on the first floor. Angela claimed she had no idea who my wife was and transferred me to Unit 2 on the 3rd floor. Even though I kept telling this Angela woman that I know for a fact that my wife is on the first floor. Well of course the guy on the 3rd floor had no idea who she was so he sent me back to good ol' Angela who again refused to connect me to my wife but definitely sent me back up to Unit 2. Finally, my wife has prediabetes and was told that she couldn't get her medicine that she needs because the hospital couldn't afford it. Strange. They literally have their own pharmacy but can't afford her medicine? This place is nothing but an insurance grab. While in the hospital my wife could only call me 3 or 4 times a day and only for 10 minutes at a time. It made it very hard for her to be able to speak with the kids and I. They really do treat you like a prisoner at this place and if you refuse anything they threaten to keep you there longer. Also a lot of the patients who come to this place are repeat offenders. They really do not help at all. They will try to keep you there for as long as possible and then still try to bill you. When I'm paying for services I expect results if I don't get those results, I don't pay for the services.

There were no high standards really. It was quite terrible. The food was always lukewarm, I'm quite positive that one day the meat I had was soiled. We only met maybe once a day not even all days for group sessions. They keep you there longer than they need to and most people generally seem scared in that place. It was really not am ideal way to help me get better. It felt robotic....I never want to send anyone there. There are only a few people that I know on staff that actually helped me. They helped me accomplish nothing.

I wish this place would be shut down. I really think the good reviews that were left are fake accounts or staff people. This is the worst place to ever go if you are suffering from a mental health problem. There are so many things wrong with this place. I was sent there from the ER and going here was the worst place I could have gone. Like many other people said in the reviews this place is one big insurance scam. If you have good insurance they keep you longer because they get more money regardless of your condition. I was part of the higher functioning group of patients (they mix together both high and low functioning patients which can be dangerous) and while even the staff told me I was ready to be released the doctor kept me longer. If you are higher functioning they try and make you go crazy by misdiagnosing you and giving you drugs that will make you a whole lot worse than you were to begin with in order to keep you longer and rake in your money. They do not care at all about your mental health, they just care about your money. They violated a number of mental health codes. You are locked into a floor with just one small hallway and two small activity rooms. They do not let you outside. Yes, you have to stay inside that small area without being let outside for a whole week. Even in prison they let you outside. Also, when you first get there you have to strip down completely naked and bend over and cough just like in prison. I know at other mental health hospitals this is not standard. You cannot be properly diagnosed from a doctor that comes in a few times a week and says "you have one minute to tell us how you are doing." They literally give you one minute. They take full advantage of the fact that you are legally bound to stay there until they release you. So in order to get out you have to play the game. You take the medicine they give you even if it makes you feel worse or debilitates you. You have to act happy at all times because if you don't they'll come up to you and say, "are you okay? Do you need to stay here longer?" You cannot talk to anyone about how you are truly feeling or what you are truly going through because they'll give you another false diagnosis and another drug to take that you should not be taking. When I went home I went to my family doctor and they told me I was misdiagnosed and that you cannot be properly diagnosed from the short amount of time the doctor spent with the patients. My family doctor told me I should not have been taking any of the medication they gave me. What's worse is some of the staff working there knows how messed up the system is and I was so thankful I had a staff memeber who truly cared about me. She told me I was misdiagnosed but I had to take the medication for that week because if you don't or ask to take something different they add more time to your stay. And she told me stop taking that medication once you get home and if you want to actually go on medication get diagnosed from someone qualified. The place itself had horrible conditions. One of the showers was broken so they put a vacuum hose on the shower nossel. For as much money they are raking in from the patients insurance companies you'd think they would be able to pay for a new shower nossel instead of putting a vacuum hose on it. It was very disgusting. The bed I slept had a mattress so thin that the broken bars were sticking into my back and kept me up at night because of the pain. If you need mental help please DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. It will make you even worse than you were before. They do not care about making you better, they only care about money. It is truly disgusting to me that the doctor and staff who work at The Behavioral Center of Michigan take advantage of mentally ill and disabled people for money without providing any proper treatment. This hospital is one of the best displays of corruption and greed and it needs to be shut down.

Dirty and not equipped to handle anything beyond a common cold. I was given seizures from one of the meds they gave me..and they tried to treat it with benadryl.
