I had really high hopes for this practice. I filled out the online intake form, giving details like the fact that I’m a high-functioning professional and seeing a steady therapist, but some major life changes have me seeking a medication reevaluation. I explained that I currently see a doctor at a less-than-reputable center, and since I’m already heavily involved with holistic approaches like exercise/yoga, nutrition, and meditation, I’m looking for a practice more aligned with those values. Dr. Arcara seemed like a great match, according to the website. After weeks with no response via email or telephone, I called the office. I gave my info and explained why I was calling to the girl that answered, and then she told me in a put-off tone that she was “just the answering service, but could take a message.” Not sure why she sounded so huffy about it, since that’s fine by me, but maybe she expected me to know that upfront even though her initial greeting did not include the fact that she was the answering service. Then she asked me all of the same exact questions I had just given all of the answers to so it was obvious that she spent all of the moments I explained the reason for my call just waiting to tell me she was the answering service. It wasn’t a big deal and I didn’t show any frustration to her, but it was really odd and unprofessional, especially in the context of the rest of my experience. No one called me back, but I received an email a few days later from a Samantha Tripp, stating “We are at this time referring you to a larger practice that we feel better suits your needs at this time,” followed by the contact information for the practice I already go to. No further explanation included. I responded to state that I was disappointed in the dismissive response and would like a more in-depth explanation as to why I was being referred to the place I am trying to leave, since there was never an indication that new patients are not being taken. I also asked if there were any similar practices they could refer me to instead. Two weeks later, no response. Above are the actual words I used in my email, so I was calm and asked direct relevant questions. I’m pointing this out because I didn’t fire off some rude, angry email, which I probably wouldn’t have responded to either. The fact that no one bothered to respond or explain why another practice would have more value for me was incredibly disrespectful. Maybe this is a great practice if you actually see the doctor, and to be fair, I never had contact with Kimberley Arcara herself. However, I would never attempt to deal with them again and discourage anyone from supporting business like this. The most awful thing is that these people deal in the care of mental health.
