John Hopkins has a truly amazing staff that cared for my autistic daughter. The doctors and nurses gave her a new outlook on life and taught her amazing coping skills to use during the rough times. The unit was always well-staffed with very polite security and caregivers. I always felt as though my daughter was well cared for and that they truly listened to what our family had to say. They gave us a path forward! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am a mental health clinician and I had the unfortunate experience of being hospitalized at Johns Hopkins Psych ER in October 2018. I was thoroughly disappointed and disgusted by the conditions and the way mental health patients are treated. I was admitted for “delusions”. I saw a doctor for 15 minutes at 3:00AM. He told me that I would most likely be admitted to the inpatient unit. I was not treated or medicated. That was the only time I saw a doctor. I laid there for four days without treatment. I was not offered a shower, hygiene products, or clean clothes. By the second day I asked for hygiene products and they gave me wipes. I had migraines for most of the time and they were not able to give me my typical medication I take to relieve the migraines. The conditions were reminiscent of suicide watch in jail, of which I am familiar because I worked in those conditions. The staff was unable to find me any placement. On the fourth day I discharged myself and found my own treatment. The only question they asked me upon discharge was if I was going to kill myself or someone else. As a clinician I understand the importance of those questions but that was not even the reason I was admitted there. When I left my phone was stolen out of my belongings. They were not able to replace it unless I had a receipt. It turns out I was later diagnosed with postpartum bipolar with psychosis, a very rare and severe condition that they had no idea about and took no time to understand. Not to mention they have a perinatal mood disorder clinic to which they did not refer me.

I was told they could see me one day and the next was told they couldn't. What was worse is when I asked what they could treat, I was directed to the website, which doesn't even have a list with that and information. Honestly, this program is at best misleading and a waste of time.

My son was in their NICU being premature and the entire staff that dealt with him was caring, quick on their feet, and did everything they could to make us informed with everything that was going on. When I was rushed into emergency surgery, the doctor and nurses were caring and patient with my freaking out beings that no one was allowed in the room. For a rushed and emergency c-section, my scar is straight and I have had no post surgery issues.

At my wits end, I've heard John's Hopkins is supposed to be the best, well since Sunday when I had to take my 26 year old daughter, there, I really feel like it was the best decision! The doctors, Can't remember their names and the nurses I've spoken the last few day's, have been wonderful, doing everything they can to help my child!!! A whole hearted Thank You to the entire staff!! Special Thank You Aisha!! When I called earlier to find out the status, she was so helpful, and caring and extremely understanding!! I will remind Sarah to thank you all for doing all you could to help!! Sincerely Wm.

DO NOT GO HERE. I was admitted here due to depression. During my stay here I was abused by several members of the weekend part time staff during the weekend. I have spoken to the police and several attorneys regarding this matter. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. This place is ABUSIVE and not caring.
