Amazing place, everyone from the receptionists to the doctors really shows care and they are also professional. The only problem is how expensive it is, because they don't take insurance. But I don't want that to detract from their ratings because I feel going to them is worth the money. My doctor, Dr. Portillo is awesome and caring. I truly feel heard, validated and respected for who I am as a person and not just based on my diagnosis. I feel he pretty saved my life during the semester in 2014 in nursing school. I pretty much had a nervous breakdown and I was so desperate to find a place that would accept me on a short notice, I called over 20 practices and either they didn't answer, weren't taking patients or weren't taking patients for a certain amount of time. I called them in the morning and they called back immediately and I was able to book an appointment the next week, as a brand new patient. They were the answer to my prayers. Now, almost two years later, in 2016, I am still seeing Dr. Portillo, and he and I have made great progress together. He is basically my lifeline and I don't know what I would do without him and Potomac Psychiatry. I have never had a bad experience here in the entire time I have been going to this practice. We were able to find the right medication for me in a very short amount of time (especially compared to any other psychiatric practices, which would have taken months to over a year, and we did it in less than half the time) because of this gene test they can do. They are just one of the psychiatric practices in the DC/MD/VA area period. I am so serious. So if you are seeking psychiatric help, this is the place to go. I love them so much. :)

Worst doctor I’ve seen in a while. I’m new to the area and discussed wanted to get back on my meds that I’ve been on for years which he could have obviously looked up in the computer and seen that I’ve been in them for years and they work but instead he kinda laughed it off and prescribed me with the most bs prescription that’s weaker than an advil and proceeded to tell me that even though he understood I didn’t have the money to make another appointment...he said if I gave the useless pills a try (meaning make another $400 app he would then consider giving me my meds that have proven to work again and again. Next time take me out to dinner first before you take advantage of me because I know that’s how you roll and I didn’t try to judge you but you wanna shame me and take advantage of me like that #METOO

After working with Dr. Novitsky for 3 and 1/2 months, my family has experienced a significant change in our household. He not only helped my daughter with her behavior and healthy expression of her emotions, but he helped my wife and I as well. Our household is now filled with far more laughter, smiles, and joy than yelling and unsuccessful attempts at discipline. Because of Dr. Novitsky's patience, guidance, and knowledge, we spend our days playing and making happy memories, instead of grumbling and worrying about how to the next blow up. Dr. Novitsky helped our whole family learn to express ourselves in an open, constructive, and healthy manner, which has helped to bring everyone closer together and strengthened our love and family bond. I would highly recommend Dr. Novitsky to any family that is having discipline and behavioral issues with their children. I would also include any parents who are struggling with resorting to yelling and shouting, despite not wanting to be that kind of parent. Rarely do I feel the need to raise my voice anymore, and because of Dr. Novitsky and his recommendations and guidance for me as well as my daughter, I have found that both my behavior and my daughter's are much calmer, less stressful, and foster a sense of happiness in and enjoyment in our parent-child relationship. I've had a great experience working with Dr. Portillo. I had previously worked with another psychiatrist who was less than helpful. Dr. Portillo was knowledgeable and always explained how the medication or treatment worked. He would always present me with options and ask what methods I preferred. He was also frequently available and accessible by phone. The office was responsive and helpful, including when working with the pharmacy. I would highly recommend.

Dr Norvitski is absolutely a great DR!! Potomac Psychiatry hit the jackpot in experienced compassionate care when they found him and Enough great things cannot be said about this medical practice! After many years of misdirection, I found a DR who cares and it’s made all the difference. More importantly my children who were taken by court order while I was unable to tend to them due to injuries sustained from serving were later placed in an adoption matter. Due to the excellence in care from this practice, currently I’m told the adoption cannot take place. What miracle workers they are! I strongly recommend Potamac Psychiatry and Dr Norvitski above all to anyone looking for skilled experienced able and qualified assistance in medical needs for court matters or other necessities.
