I take my 7 year old son who has ADHD among some other learning/cognitive issues. Dr.Clayton, his psychiatrit, is wonderful and my son likes him. My son doesn't open up to many people but he did to Dr.Clayton. Dr.Clayton is also great because he didn't try to push Ritalin on me when my son was 6 years old like some other doctors (and his school) were trying to do. Aside from other psychiatrists like Dr.Clayton, the group also does individual, couple, group therapy; assessments for all types of diagnoses; neuropsychological testing - the works. They are at the top of the list in The Washingtonian magazine repeatedly. I recommend them to anybody that has a child you suspect has learning issues or adolescents with mood disorders. They are pricey but if you can find the means and your child needs help, at least get your child evaluated there. Then if you absolutely can't afford it, at least you have a good diagnosis to take to a more affordable place that your insurance may cover. Treatment may not be as good but the proper diagnosis is a good start.

I chose Dr. Clayton because of a negative review in which a mother decried his reluctance to prescribe or increase her child's medication without observation. Dr. Clayton understood our concerns and treated our child appropriately.
