REVIEWS OF AXIS Healthcare Group IN Maryland

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. I almost never leave reviews, but I feel compelled to do so this time as a public health service. Axis is a horrible company to deal with on so many levels. You see "the doctor" for 5 minutes and are asked if you're experiencing any harmful thoughts, etc. Then they re-up your prescription and tell you to come back in 60-90 days (after getting their $100). If you miss that appointment for whatever reason, your prescription runs out and good luck getting a refill. I've been trying for a week now to get a needed refill and haven't gotten a call or email back. Someone mentioned this place is an insurance scam and I'm inclined to believe it is. The staff doesn't care. The doctors don't care. And it's impossible to get any service. AVOID this place at all costs.

I was working with a Dr here for several months when she left and I was referred to another Dr in the practice. Unfortunately, the prior Dr had made no provisions to continue my medications in the interim before I could see the new Dr. I found myself calling their offices over and over just to get someone to prescribe the medications that I would go into withdrawal without. This place has a complete CYA mentality and no regard for patient health.

Kate Lester

I tried for weeks to make an appointment here, and no one ever answered the phone. I called probably 10 times over 3 weeks, and left multiple messages. During the second week I got ONE call back, when I happened to be in the shower, and they left a message telling me to call back at the same number I had been calling repeatedly. After my 4th or 5th call post-voicemail, I gave up. I’m glad I did, because it turns out a family member of mine who goes here was trying to get her medical records (for a time sensitive matter) and these people have given her the run around for three weeks. She STILL does not have her medical records. They are the least organized, least helpful employees I have ever come across. Do NOT make an appointment here (that is, if you even can).

Charles N

Terribly run doctor office, they never informed me one of their staff I was seeing was fired and if I didn't call in I would have gone to the office for no reason. Look at the other reviews, this place is a mess and it seems unless someone is desperate with no other option or don't see what's really going on they keep going here.

I would give zero stars if I could. It's a shame, Dr. Watkins is a great psychiatrist, but this practice has a higher patient volume than they can handle it seems. Dr. Watkins will only see new patients, and then each case is passed off to a physicians assistant for treatment adjustments. This system worked well for some time, but the PAs do not have enough appointment availability to meet the treatment recommendations they set. More than three times now, I have been called to reschedule my appointment at the last minute. One would think that an inconvenient reschedule of this sort would be given priority to be scheduled for the soonest appointment available, right? Well apparently this logic is too far out of left field for this practice. I was rescheduled TWO months from when my original appointment was scheduled. Not only is this completely unprofessional, it is unethical as well. I am a patient that has been given a certain treatment recommendation, and they completely disregarded that. Finally, I've called several times to schedule appointments, and to talk to management about their lack of professionalism, but never received a return call (they don't take live calls, you only have the option to leave voicemails. How convenient).

The second you walk into the office, you get the feeling it is an insurance scam. After speaking with the doctors, that is confirmed. Terribly unhelpful staff and disgusting office. Lisa Vandemark is a joke of a doctor. Dr. Nadine is the only person here that actually cares about her patients.

Edner Charles

I can understand why this practice has such low and bad reviews. I worked for them as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since February and we are now in August, they still haven't paid me for my services. Bunch of Thieves, what a shame

Leonore Jones

I'd like to report that Dr Andrea Watkins, at AXIS Kensington, is a stellar psychiatrist. She has given me excellent care and I trust her as a partner in managing my mental health

I expected to hate this place, but I really don't. The receptionists are accommodating (I prefer being e-mail to being called, which they generally do), the psychiatric nurse practitioners are cost-conscious (they directed me to the great app GoodRx and prescribe generics). Just today, my pharmacy misplaced my prescription, I called Axis, and Axis called the pharmacy to straighten it out within 5 hours. Good experiences overall.

Jumanah Abdullah

Terrible doctors/nurse practitioners. I've been seen at least 7 of them within the last year because they keep leaving the practice. Receptionists are typically rude, snappy, and condescending. My prescriptions were often never sent to my pharmacy, my medical records took a month to be sent to the new doctor I'm seeing, and phone calls were almost never returned. Things rarely get done around here, and the way things are run changes so quickly it's hard to keep up.

Shabaab Kamal

This clinic treats its patients horribly, and if its staff turnover is any indication, it treats its employees horribly too. Twice I was "discharged" because my doctor had left the practice—but I wasn't notified until I went for an appointment and learned my doctor didn't work there anymore! Their reception staff is unhelpful and unpleasant, often cutting me off mid-sentence or yelling at me. Do yourself a favor and do NOT visit a doctor here. They care about money, not your health.

Ms. Safford

They have great practitioners, but the office is poorly managed. Frequent staff changes seem to complicate this. I highly recommend Dr. Watkins; she is why we put up with the changes.

Liam Malone

"Arrival 5 or more minutes late for an appointment will be considered a no-show and result in cancellation of the appointment and a charge for the lost time of $75...." for a 15 min appt to answer boilerplate questions that could have been done over the phone. Zero confidence in them. No personal communication. Barely looked up from computer. I will find someone else.

I really like my psychologist, but the secretary is awful. I checked after ever appointment what I owed, and she would say i owed nothing. 3 months in, she tells me I owe 500$ for my past appointments. That's unacceptable.

I honestly wish I could give them less than 1 star, but that's how this works I supposed. I made an appointment back in March that was a month out to April. I was sent some forms and told I had to send in my credit card number along with the forms in case I missed my appointment. They said they'd charge 75 dollars if I did. The day before, not even 24 hours to my appointment I got a call from the office and they said Dr. Greenblum was going "on rotation" at the hospital so my appointment had to be rescheduled. I was told the next available was A MONTH AWAY. That's right, now I'm going to have to wait 2 months for my first appointment. Fastforward to 3 weeks later and I get an e-mail (not even a telephone call this time) that Dr. Greenblum left the office and they have to reschedule AGAIN. I e-mailed back asking for a timeslot and they never even bothered to write me about one or even apologize. This practice is complete crap. Thankfully I was only going for medication management and I didn't have an immediate need. The irony of them trying to charge me 75 bucks for missed appointments when they canceled outside of THEIR OWN GRACE PERIOD makes me wonder if I should be getting paid the amount instead. Seriously the WORST experience ever. Do not even consider calling them, you're better off staying AWAY from these unprofessional "doctors."

Devon Lee Miller

Terrible place -- they plague us with robocalls and won't take us off their call list.

Jorge M

See the other negative reviews, they are spot on and be warned that management will drop you as a patient with no warning and change their billing options as they see fit. I had been going here for years due to being close to home but suddenly they stopped taking my insurance and used excuses and misinformation when talking to me on the phone, I found out later that they dropped without telling having the guts to tell me over the phone. When I went to my appointment the next day that was on the books for a week I was told it was given to someone else. You are putting your life into the hands of uncaring reckless disorganized management by going here

Jennifer Valverde

Would give zero stars if possible. Been going to this practice for 2 years now. Each visit I would see a different provider because the last one was no longer working there. Finally for my last 3 visits I was seeing the same provider. On my last visit 2 weeks ago she changed my medication and I was told to come back in 6 weeks for a follow up. Just got a letter in the mail saying that doctor has left the practice and I have now been discharged from service with out the option of seeing another provider. I called the office and was told to go find a different provider because the doctor left the practice. I asked to speak to an office manager and was connected to a dead phone line. This is a terrible practice with zero regard to patients safety continuity of service.

Would give zero stars if possible. This office is managed so incredibly poorly. I saw no less than 5 psychiatrists. The office staff treated me poorly on a regular basis. I once had a problem with medication (but not a large enough one to warrant an ER visit) and did not receive a call back from the office for two full weeks after calling repeatedly and leaving several voicemails. My therapist left the practice and they did not reach out to me to place me with a new one. Frankly, this is negligent. They take advantage of the needs of their patients and hold them hostage to their poor practices. They also completely messed up my insurance for a while, over billed me each visit and then sent me a bill in the mail. I believe they owe me upwards of $100 but have decided that's probably a sunk cost at this point. I luckily found one good therapist while there and have no idea if the psychiatrists were actually any good. Most were very condescending. The therapist, Nadine, was the worst offender in that regard. Edit: completely forgot to mention. My dosage was increased and Dr. Seed required me to come in within a month. He had no availability for at least 3-4. This happened several times. Negligence! Dose increases are nothing to play around with yet this office is so overbooked they can't properly treat their patients. Unsafe!

Kenneth Shere

Psychiatrists so not stay with this group for long. Generally unhappy with their attitude. Am tempted to give them 1 star, but will not do so because some of the office staff have been very helpful.

The doctors and therapists here may be great, but I never got the chance to find out. I was told they couldn't even book me an appointment until I gave them my insurance and they "verified my coverage"; I've never dealt with a practice that did this, but whatever. They had me send insurance information as well as medical history over email; not particularly safe, but I left out any especially sensitive information, so again, I let it go. It took them a week and a half, and several confused phone calls, to get whatever information they needed from my insurance, but that's okay because surely I can finally get my appointment now, right? No. I was told that their insurance specialist said I needed a referral from my primary physician before they could see me, which is not true and to my knowledge, never has been. After that confusion, we got to the real kicker: they needed to have a credit card on file at all times. I said I was uncomfortable with this, that all charges should be covered by my insurance and in the strange event that they weren't, I would simply pay at the time of service. They refused to treat me unless I gave them my credit card. At this point, I've wasted 2 weeks that I could have had an appointment on the books with another doctor, two weeks without treatment that helps me be a functioning human being, because they seem so convinced all their patients are trying to stiff them that they're willing to sacrifice care and basic security.

I was so upset after visiting Dr Greenblum that I came here to post a review and already found one about Greenblum! I don't think I've ever met a doctor who spoke to me so condescendingly. Not much of a listener this guy. He's the one who went to medical school so there's really nothing you can say to him that is worth listening to. I realized after I left that I had many more questions than before I walked in. The appointment went so badly that I just had a bad feeling for the rest of the day and over the weekend as I recalled facial expressions and statements he made during the appointment, my anger grew and grew. This morning I decided to cancel my next appointment with him and post this review. I feel better already. Now I need to find a real doctor.

Sarah Chaney Reichenbach

After being a patient of Dr. Watkins (who is an amazing doctor) for well over a year, I was told by the practice three days before my upcoming appointment that Dr. Watkins would no longer be seeing her existing patients, only new ones, indefinitely. I was told this over the phone after calling the office because my appointment confirmation email a few days before my appointment listed one of the NPs instead of Dr. Watkins and I had called, thinking it was a mistake. I received no official correspondence explaining this decision and would not have known had I not called the appointments desk. I was told the NP was qualified to handle my case (even though her bio on the website does not list any experience or certifications in psychiatry) and that she could pass along issues to Dr. Watkins, but I could no longer see her myself. (I had previously seen this NP for side effects due to one of my medications and she offered no answers, advice, or treatment, other than to wait it out and we could tell my doctor, which they didn't.) This decision on behalf of the practice has left me high and dry with a difficult to treat mood disorder and separated me from a doctor who I had a built a relationship with and who knows the details of my specific case. When I asked the office what I was supposed to do, I was basically told that it would be unfair to the new patients to have Dr. Watkins only treat her existing patients. I am furious and, frankly, afraid for my health now. Axis Healthcare Group should be ashamed for this abrupt and unwarranted severing of ties between patients and their trusted physicians. I'm not sure where I will be going next, but, unless there truly has been a mistake, I will not be returning here.

DO NOT GO HERE! I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Like the previous review states, there is a revolving door of doctors. We have been here for 2 years and gone through 3. Now we have received a letter stating that the current doctor is leaving for 3-6 months and we are being discharged because there isn't another doctor. The letter gave us a weeks notice. They mentioned that medications would still be refilled, yet I have been trying for over 3 weeks (because I have learned that it takes forever to get medication refilled) to get my sons meds refilled. The pharmacy has also sent over multiple requests for refills. They have 1 person, Tyler, who apparently is the only one who can handle prescriptions. He along with the rest of the staff are incompetent and do not do their jobs. When you actually get in touch with someone, they all sound like they hate their jobs and don't want to help you at all. I have emailed, left messages and spoken to "Tyler" about refills and he says that they will be taken care of and they still aren't. Not refilling medication in a timely matter, especially medication that can have serious side effects if it isn't taken, is criminal. My kid could become very sick. We are at the point where he has to take it every other day to ensure he has meds until we see his new doctor in another week. These people should be locked up for negligence, because that is what they are. NEGLIGNET!!!!

Terri Barnes

Gotta agree w negative comments. Ongoing staff competency issues.

I am very disappointed with Dr. Greenblum's bottom performance at ASIS Healthcare Group. He is stupid and unprofessional. He sucks. AXIS Healthcare Group charged me for the day I did not get a treatment. I am very disappointed with AXIS Healthcare Group. Do not waist your time with them.

Elizabeth Dalasio

I would not recommend this office at all. The new patient coordinator is one of the only nice person I have met there. After they cancelled my new patient appointment the DAY OF my appointment, they then switched the doctor I was seeing for the rescheduled appt to a different doctor without telling me. The doctor I saw I doubt looked at my chart before my appointment and essentially started the appointment with "what meds do you want?" At my second appointment they again changed the doctor without telling me until my appointment started. The doctor I saw was very nice and thorough thankfully, however I still did not appreciate not being informed earlier. When I requested to be called for future appointments if the doctor is not available and will be changed, I was told that wasn't possible. I believe, especially in this type of provider's office, that the doctor should be the same one for each appointment. It should not be switched around unless requested by the patient. If you like consistency and being told the truth, I would not go here.

Cheryl Sherlock

Trying to reach you, Dr. Tankeh about Diane. Please call me ASAP.

Allie Crisp

Front desk personnel are unprofessional, rude, & simply should not be employed in a mental health facility. It is difficult to make appointments and often once you have made one the office will call to ask you to reschedule. Psychiatrist who runs the group is impersonal & condescending- not surprising given the front desk staff. Social worker I met with for three months in 2015 should never have received a counseling degree. Dr. Watkins is a stand out in the practice - although I can't imagine she will stay with the group longterm as her practice is on a level far above Axis's other clinicians. Unfortunate given the location and health insurances accepted. This practice treats patient poorly and should not be allowed to continue as a mental health facility.

Necia Disse

Disorganized and unprofessional staff. Almost ran out of medicine and called to get a refill. They said I couldn't get a refill without an appointment, but I told her that it was dangerous to go off the medicine. I couldn't get an appointment for my meds for a week (after calling the front desk and emailing with no replies.) I was a hot mess that week, and couldn't go to work. I had to completely start over the dosage of that medicine once I got it again, so I was a hot mess for 2 more weeks until I was at the original dose. If it wasn't for a gracious boss, I could have lost my job. In the end, my doctor said, "I would have written you a prescription because it's very dangerous to be off this drug." -_-

Geo Taleria

I appreciate my Psychiatrist here who actually takes the time to listen to me.

Stephanie Needham

I set up an appointment at least four weeks in advance for Dr. Watkins. They called me two days before to tell me it needs to be rescheduled. They gave me a new time, two weeks later. When I called to confirm the new appointment, they said they had no record of it. I tried to contact the office manager, but he did not return my calls.

Elsie Sharp

This is so true. Dr Greenblum didn't even look at me. He wrote me 3 prescriptions and told me to be on my way. Then he canceled 3 appointments afterwards. I remain optimistic so I am going to the Lexington Park Office instead of Bethesda. We shall see. SMH. I really didn't want to give one star.
