My patients that I admit to Seaside don’t have computers at home. But voice they enjoy being at Seaside. Great food, friendly faces and Helpful. The care is great. My patients go home looking better than they did coming in. They always make the patient feel comfortable because going behind a locked door isn’t easy. Mental health is scary. They also wish the doctor had a private practice. They would follow up with him and his Nurse practitioner. It makes me feel good when they have had a good experience.

Seaside Behavioral Center is a wonderful place to work. The staff is friendly and it has a family type of atmosphere. The facility is beautiful and very clean. I would not hesitate to have my own family members treated here.

This place is not the best o Place for your love ones to be because if you are not there to see how they are doing it will hurt because they will not Tell anything over the phone about your family members.

My son is an inpatient for severe depression right now and is about to be discharged. The staff has been incredibly rude to myself and my son, not to mention the nurses talking freely about patients personal information for all to hear, which is a HIPPA violation! Not once did anyone orientate me to how to handle calls or enter the facility. I was given the wrong "code" for entry three times (even though they wrote it out for me) and was rudely refused access to my son because of their ineptness. This place is like a prison. The patients are handled like animals and the food is terrible. Never again will we use this facility and I will make sure all my friends and family are made aware of this terrible place. If you love someone, NEVER send them here!

I'm actually writing this as a review of the Seaside Behavioral Center at EJGH on Houma Blvd. Staying in this hospital was by far one of the worst experiences of my life. Some of the staff were helpful but for the most part this place is NOT a place of healing. The schedule and rules are horrific, the technicians do things against not only the rules of the clinic but also things that are illegal with no sanctions by the people running the place. I was told to write a list of grievances but instead they just pick pieces and parts of what was supposed to be a casual phone call after I got out, at the suggestion of the state health board. They had excuses for all of their illegal activities. There are camera in EVERY bed room and all the rest of the rooms. They refused to call any of my doctors. They had me on the WRONG medications and my regular psychiatrist was very upset. They sent me home still very manic because I had already been there 2 1/2 weeks. They told me I had done all these weird things, which I'm sure I did but have no memory of because I was injected with drugs for psychosis over and over again. If they had the 15 minute checks like they said and the cameras in all the rooms, how would I be doing the things they said I did? They treated my roommate criminally, allowing her to stay wet in her diaper for hours upon hours and yelling at her when she didn't make it to the bathroom during the day. I can't believe this place is still open. 2 staff I liked, just 2, and the rest should never work in a place of healing again. Also, my doctor was a complete idiot and I've had other health care professionals say so when I got out and started talking about my experiences. This was hell.

Well I was there for 12 days due to anxiety attacks it was very hard for me to get any care for my mental treatment I had actually one of the nurses asked me to take one of the patients to the bathroom and help her pull down your pants and sit on the toilet and take care of her I did it because I have a kind heart but it's not my job I got fed up due to the fact that when it's time for us to get our medications it took over 2 hours to get them they are very rude staff they don't care about the patients there it took 45 minutes one time for me to get an answer at the window and finally when I did they told me that they would get back to me on that which they never did I was roommating with a Spanish lady hardly spoken English and every day she was complaining about her stomach hurting she needed to lie down because she was hurting and she was probably about 60 and they yelled at her and told her to go into the day room and basically suck it up. I also had to bathe my roommates because they took almost 2 hours to get into our room to do it at 11:30pm finally the second night they did the first night I had to bathe her and I told them that's not my job I don't want to be liable for anybody falling or hurting themselves I don't want to get sued please can you please come in here and help this lady also there was this lady there in a wheelchair over Weight begging to go to the bathroom before she crapped on herself well she didn't make it because nobody came to help her I would never go to the facility again it is very bad for your mental health it actually made my anxiety worse and I will never go there again I wish that they would close this down because this is not a very good place to even take any family member if you're thinking about it don't do it cuz it will worsen than their mental disability. oh yes one more thing the men were allowed to come in and bathe the women and take them into the bathrooms to tinkle. I don't think that's appropriate that is actually I think that would be against the law for a male to bathe women. they don't care it's not right oh also one more thing one of the other patients there he got the wrong medication thank God he knew what medications he was taking and he told the nurse that this was not his medication and if he would have took that that could easily flared up his mental illness I'm not sure what these people got going on over there but they don't care they don't they don't care about people with mental illnesses and all they do is tell us to go into the day room and sit down or it's too early for this s*** or it's too late for this s*** also I stayed extra 3 days because one of the doctors there told me that I had low inactive thyroid problem so I agreed to say an extra 3 days well I stayed and the next morning they drew blood and the following morning I was supposed to take thyroid medication before breakfast on an empty stomach they never gave it to me so I went to the nurse's station and hour later she finally spoke to me. I have a little bit of short term memory loss but I had remembered that that's what the doctor had told me. The nurse told me the medication for my thyroid i received that morning. she said "oh yes you did it was that one little pill I gave you" I said, "no ma'am I have been taking the same medications for the past 9 days can I please look at my chart. I said I have the right to do that she's in looked at my chart 40 min later and she said,"oh yeah you're right you never did receive your thyroid medication" I said, "well why the hell am I even here I should have been out 2 days ago I stayed for thyroid medication and that's not even being taken care of and then the nurse goes and thinks that she gave me a medication but never did.when I am a mental patients and I need to have answers and I'm sitting there waiting and waiting and still nothing happens also they messed up my medication at the pharmacy I don't understand what these people are doing please don't send your family members here because they won't end up worse when they come out thank you

A prison. Not a mental health facility. Staff is rude, & put a fake front upon patient first entering. NO professionalism whatsoever. Terrible conditions. Treatment of patient & family as if the patient is in the prison system. Staff talks to family & patients as if they are criminals. Food like sludge/slop. (Eggs for dinner??!!) Whatever the hell is going on in there, this place needs to be SHUT DOWN. Severely depressed and psychotic patients walking in & out of other patients’ rooms, & definitely not a safe place. If your family member is in there, keep in close contact with the Coroner’s office. If you are not given the consideration of respect & familial participation for the betterment of the patient, call the coroner’s office to report.. There are NO activities for the patients, no books, nothing!!! White walls, windows with cloudiness, so that the patient doesn’t see the light of day. Looks and feels like an insane asylum.. This place is AWFUL for anyone with a mental health condition!!! If you aren’t depressed when you get there, you sure will be when you are admitted!!!

Can't say it's the service and dedication. A friend of mine was assaulted and insulted by one of the nurses or staff members as I am to come to understand I am not personally had any intervenience with this particular Hospital location although I have had experience with other locations of other mental health and behavioral health facilities and they have done nothing but real wrote people who have a better mind than they do about what going on in their lives

My mom was placed in seaside and when I went to visit it was filthy. My mom describes her experience as being in hell and back. The staff answers you in a nasty manner, no professionalism at all. I don't understand how there open, why haven't the state made them clean up the facility, there was stool in the showers, blood on the toilet seats. At night the staff turns the lights off and go to sleep.my mom describes it as being in jail, after her insurance paid for her to be there she should've been treated in a respectable manner, after all they did get paid.

My father was placed in this hospital from UHC and it's disgusting. From the moment he was there he called me telling me how disgusting and rundown everything was, many things falling apart, etc. I have NEVER in my life had him call me genuinely in distress about the conditions of a hospital before. Sure, he'd have minor complaints about stays but for him to call me upset and shocked and almost panicking about the conditions of a hospital??? That's absolutely awful. Not to mention when on the phone i heard a nurse answer to him quite rudely when he asked simple questions such as what they were allowed to have. Trashy trashy hospital. If possible, Keep your loved ones from going here. If they NEED acute inpatient care and they have no other options, keep incredibly close watch on how they're treated.

Do not send anyone you love here !!!!!! I was in this jail for 5 days. I went to the emergency room at EJ not knowing I was having a nervous breakdown. They asked if I had suicidal thoughts. Me being honest said Yes.(most people do in hard times) That was it ....off to the nut hospital. I had no choice go as you are. I was put in the ambulance and off we went. At Seaside I was locked in and all my freedom taken away. They let my husband bring some change of clothes which was all documented and my name written on. They heavily medicated everyone and made us sit in front of a TV. I was not allowed to do anything !! I couldn't walk the hall for exercise. I couldn't stay in my room to read a book. I know cuz I tried and was always not to. Everything I did was watched and listened too including phone calls, lunch, dinner, and famiy visits. If you didn't eat the slop they fed you it meant you were severely depressed. If you wanted milk her something extra you were glared at and told no. Therapy consisted of a staff member standing in the TV room where everyone was forced to be and a list of questions asked to the patients like what is your goal today? , what did you accomplish today? ....to each person in front of everyone When my son came to see me he was fussed at for hugging me. He was told they didn't want any physical contact with me so I could "learn my lesson" and try to get out of there by knowing I would only be able to get love from my family at home. As we talked my son gently patted my shoulder and the came up to him aggressively and told him "I'm warning you not to touch her" and then a third time he said "that's it! next time I will make you leave". He said it in an angry tone everytime getting angrier and angrier. Visitation was only an hour long. They threatened every simple thing you did with " they will make you stay here longer" ....I'm talking about asking questions and things like that. Once I ask about my cholestrol meds because it was being given to me at a different time then another nurse. ( I was on it before I came to this horrible place) The nurse said " if you refuse to take your medication you will have to stay here longer" I said I am not refusing to take my medication.....blah blah. Then one of the patients went around yelling to everyone that I was refusing to take my medication. Their was a 99 year old woman in there that yelled all day long for someone to help her. They had her in a chair in a semi laying down position and she stayed that way the whole time I was their. She was only quiet when they drugged her heavily. This is satan's home. Stay away ! Consider yourself warned......
