As a chronically ill person, dealing with this center has been excruciatingly frustrating. All I wanted was for them to give me a referral to a doctor in BR and to get my prescriptions filled. They refused to give me a referral because I could see a doctor there if I was sick. I explained I meant a specialist and they wouldn’t listen. They said they could handle my prescriptions but 2 weeks later they haven’t been filled and I’m completely out.

I've used the SHC for all 4 years, and have always had positive experiences. I've gotten everything from lab work, to vaccinations and flu shots done there. The services were either free or really low cost since I'm a full-time student. The doctors I've seen always encouraged me to email them through the patient portal if I have any concerns or follow-up questions and they usually responded within an hour or so. I also use the women's clinic and am usually able to get an appointment within a week of calling. The doctors and practitioners at the women's clinic always make me feel comfortable and address all of my concerns. Would definitely recommend utilizing the SHC.

LSU student health center is a damn joke. They treat you like crap and talk you out of being sick. They tell you if have an emergency then you should go to the ER, but when you call to be a walk-in they tell you they can only take you if it is an emergency.. so you agree then they say "how does in 4 days sound?" seriously?

My rating is for the medical part of this place. The women's health center made me take an hour long class just to be misinformed of the pricing and protocols they take at this facility. They told me before my appointment everything's included in tuition except labs, but that's far from the truth. The man receptionist and woman who takes vitals were rude, unhelpful, and had a so what attitude. And refused to answer my questions. They just cut me off and acted annoyed. But if my questions were answered in the FIRST place I wouldn't have even wasted my time here!

I always have an excellent experience at the Student Health Center. The doctors and professionals there are respectful and helpful. I'm someone who gets anxious over even the smallest health issues, but they always listen to my concerns with care, and come up with an appropriate care plan for me. What I like the most about the people is that they welcome you whenever you go. It's never a dread when you think you are going to visit the SHC. For the last four years, I have developed a great relationship with the physicians and psychiatrists there, and the Health Center is one the places I will miss a lot once I leave after graduation. 5 STARS.

Always ask how much they will charge for each service because they will give it to you without letting you know. As a student at LSU, you’d think what you pay for in tuition would cover basic charges but that is untrue. They drew labs for me without telling me it would cost $160 out of pocket, luckily I was able to cancel the labs before they were sent out. I needed a vaccination and when asked how much it would cost, I was given a flyer, stuck, and found out 2 weeks later the vaccine costed $110. The provider I saw was professional, just wish I would have known what I was paying for before I used the service.

Basically my primary care when I’m in Baton Rouge. I love the health center, wish I could keep coming after graduation! I think it’s under-utilized by the students. Great facility with a lot of technology so you don’t have to go elsewhere.

This place is literally ran worse than the VA. If you are sending your child to LSU, make sure you establish doctors in the Baton Rouge area, bc your child will not receive adequate care at the LSU Student Health Center. You’ll try to use the SHC at first because, after all, you’ve paid tuition money towards it. But then you’ll realize that the incompetence isn’t worth the hassle. Also, during the summers, you won’t have access to care.

I've never used the health center for anything other than mental health, so I can't speak on the medical aspects. I've been seeing my therapist for a year and a half and it's great to get mental health care included in my tuition. I've had positive experiences with my therapist, but negative experiences with the psychiatrist I was assigned. Other people I know have had great experiences with the psychiatrists, so maybe I just pulled a bad straw.

I have been a student paying the fees for 5 years and never used this place once. They turned me away on my last semester because i was not full time. All they care about is money, not students' wellbeing.
