REVIEWS OF Dr. Ara Robinson IN Iowa

While Dr Ara Robinson may be an adequate psychiatrist; the front office staff at Iowa Psychiatry is atrocious. We asked the doctor's office to work on a referral for us to go to the Mayo Clinic in November and we still do not have the referral in hand in March. The front office person told our insurance company that she wasn't going to do it because it was too much work. The local pharmacy faxed Dr. Robinson's office 3 times to get a prescription authorized only to be told that they never received the fax, that they had done this before and weren't going to do it again. When I asked about some additional lapses in communication; the office personnel said that it sometimes took 2 or 3 times for the person sending the fax for it to go through. To which I said that they had a GD communication problem. My advice is to steer clear of this organization and find a more helpful and caring one that truly wants to help their patients.

He's fantastic, down to earth, and an amazing listener!!! Front office is a little scattered however!

Pat Heidke

He actually listens, and does not make me feel like an idiot.

Very easy to open up to. If your a young person suffering from mental illness/disorder, Dr. Robinson is the guy to see.

I wonder if Doctor Robinson knows that his clinic charges almost $200 for a missed appointment. Even if The reason the appointment was missed was due to their own office. To be specific they schedule a first appointment for a patient on a Saturday But when you call to confirm the time you get a recorded that says they are closed on Saturday. When you talk to the clinic manager she cavalierly lets you know that's it's their policy. How is someone who has mental health issues such as ADD, severe anxiety and depression. Supposed to react to this? I can tell you. They have a severe anxiety attack and you end up at the Emergency room. Thanks alot.

My son suffers from horrible anxiety and depression. He was seeing Dr. Robinson. Dr. Robinson cancelled all future appointments and refused to help a mentally ill, anxious person who in the past had attempted suicide because, he was requesting a refill on anxiety medication 3 days early. This Dr. R did after only ever meeting with him once. He had no idea who he is and his character. When my son tried to talk to the supervisor. She stated outright that policy precedes patients. And we wonder why IOWA has a mental health crisis. See Someone who cares about patients. Someone who takes the time to know and understand you. I am truly amazed at how incredibly rude people who work with the mentally ill can be .

Being a new patient, I was a little nervous, but it did not take long for me to feel comfortable. I especially liked the fact that I didn't feel judged or talked down to. I will continue my care with Dr Robinson!
