Besides being condescending, and appearing as if he hates his job and his patients, Dr. Gucfa did not listen to me about my symptoms. You need empathy in whatever medical role you take on. I was an easy patient for about a year, never missed an appt, never late, whose medications remained the same as they were with my previous psychiatrist. Then, I got pregnant and he lectured me about respecting his time because I chose to miss an emergency appointment with him to go to the ER instead. I just had a miscarriage and he’s lecturing me about his time. On top of that he lectured me about people usually making changes to their medication before pregnancy and says, “But well,” gestures his open palms at me, “Too late for that.” There were other condescending remarks before this situation that I ignored, but I draw the line at what can be described as verbal abuse. I don’t allow my friends, family, or partners to speak to me like that, nor should I take that from a doctor. You should have trust in your medical providers in order to fully disclose everything that is going on.

If you want to feel like a diagnosis or label. Go to this doctor. This doctor lacks empathy towards his patients. He makes you feel like you are crazy. In my first session he referred to my mental illness as "my problems." He makes it feel like there is no hope in improving my depression and anxiety. I didn't feel welcome or treated with respect. He laughed when I told him I started a job and it was my first day today, as if I am not able to work as a CNA, because of my mental illness. If you want a robot go to this doctor. There is no respect or welcoming in this doctor. He straight out is rude. He seems very clean and professional on the outside, but when you hear him talk his bedside manner are not there. At the end he followed me out to watch me schedule an appointment in front of him. I felt like I had no other choice to go anywhere else. I felt pressured into keeping him as my doctor. The only thing I liked about that appointment was the nurse that took my vitals she seemed professional, respectful, and had good bedside manners. I literally scheduled non emergency medical transportation and had to leave 45 minutes into it, but he was very disrespectful about me leaving 15 minutes till, because I am suppose to read his mind about how long the appointment last. If you go don't interrupt his talking at all. Don't explain your story, because he doesn't listen. Also, most psychiatry appointments don't last an hour and accept anyone and everyone, as well as a flexible schedule compared to the other psychiatrists. I guess it is my bad for not thinking of it. Oh and he doesn't believe in genesight testing to see what medicine works for your body. Before I could even explain it, he interrupted me and turned it down.

I've been seeing Dr. Gucfa for over two years. He always treats me with respect and professionalism. His staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. Working over 9 years at UnityPoint is proof of his reliability and stability. I'm glad he is my doctor.

Dr Gucfa has been my doctor for approximately 7 years. He has always been kind and treated me with respect. Scheduling is easy and he is always on time. His staff is nice and requesting refills, etc is an easy process.
