Horrendous adult day/outpatient program. The staff are condescending and treat you like a child. Specific examples would be rolling eyes at participants’ questions, mandatory coloring, and using words like "Graduating" from the program instead of simply “leaving.” The staff make you feel as if you were in Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf or in preschool. Verbal abuse is routine. To describe some staff, I would quote Steven Colbert: “You know what I hate about people who criticize you? They criticize what you say, but they never give you credit for how loud you say it. Or how long you say it.” All objections I had to my (mis)treatment were immediately dismissed and overruled with the same condescending and paternalistic attitudes mentioned above. One other participant there told me she “cried every day for a month” when she entered the program. While she was obviously okay with such (mis)treatment, I want to give a warning to others on what to expect with this program.
