All the reviews proved true. I didn't even get a chance to make an appointment, since no one called me back. Left a message with my name, phone #. Sad, because many of these dr's have good reviews. Just can't get past the front desk :(

Amy was listed as a Behavioral Therapist in my insurance's Find a Doctor resource. After making an appointment with Amy, filling out several pages of questions prior to my visit, I met with Amy. Within 10 minutes it was discovered I was not a candidate for her services (that of prescribing meds). She recommended a family therapist friend of hers, along with her contact information. Amy then walked me out to the receptionist, asked her in a frustrated tone why I was there, and said I would probably not be billed for the session. Two weeks later I received a bill for $221.70. I tried calling them SIX times to get this bill dismissed. I called their contracted Billing Department, Amy, and Sheri their office billing person, leaving several messages for someone to call me back to discuss. No one ever called me back. I ended calling my insurance company, explaining the situation. THEY immediately called Amy's office and were able to get the bill dismissed. It was several weeks of frustration and stress trying to get this resolved. I found this to be very unprofessional. PS, from my brief experience, Amy seems to be a very brisk, rushed, to-the-point type of therapist...not too warm.

Slow, below average service. Receptionist "wasn't by the phone" 5 out of the 5 times I called the office on business hours. Always had to leave a message. In relation to actually being in the North End Psychiatry office, I received very rude person-to-person treatment from receptionist. > Very poor approach to handling customers, especially within the potential case I was actually mentally/ emotionally unstable.

I started seeing Nancy Nadolsky for my insomnia. It did not take long for me to realize that how intelligent and skillful she was. She is very kind, competent and compassionate toward your issues and problems. She is so smart to know how to get around your specific problems and how to apply the most up to date way of treatments. I'm dearly grateful for all the help and attention i've received from her when i needed most. I'll give her 5 star. My overall 4 star on the place is to give others a little benefit of the doubts. My own experience of the office is very good. They all are nice, polite and professionals. I will always thank you Nancy

If I could post a review with no stars, I would. I have had all of the same negative experiences described by others, particularly with the front desk. Never answer the phone, never return calls--even repeat calls, claim voicemails weren't received, blame patient for not communicating on time, cannot reach doctor when doctor is out of office, caused significant delay in medication, and charge for "no show," complete with a lecture, after I left two message confirming my cancellation a week in advance (also because I found a real provider for a fraction of the cost at Access Behavioral Health, 13th and River). Regarding the care, I am not confident I was well-managed. I was in crisis and was prescribed a cocktail of meds for a bipolar diagnosis. The drugs made me feel insane, having never taken psychiatric meds before. Every time I went back, I was in a different state of distress, and he upped my dose, or placed me on something stronger. The whole experience from the front to the back office was absolutely crazy. Last of all, I hardly ever got an invoice! Lo and behold, nearly 18 months after this disastrous experience, I get a bill from an agency assigned to "clean up the books at North End Psych" for $600 in "late balances." I called the agency and told them I never got any of these bills, this is crazy, and the agent told me she was aware. She said they had received nothing but complaints from clients who had never been billed, and then got hit with massive bills many many months later. The proof is that I refused to pay, and they wrote off my "balance due" without so much as a nastygram. Seriously, a life-changing and eye-opening experience with mental healthcare in America. Go to Access Behavioral Health. No, they don't have a fancy fireplace, New Yorker subscription, or refinished antique hardwood floors, but they have medical providers who care and a highly-responsive and polite front desk team.

I’ve been seeing Amy Edwards for the better part of a year now and all I can say is everything has been a positive experience. I really don’t know why they’re getting so much hate from people. It’s sad to see because their front desk worker has always been timely and courteous with me. I don’t know if these people were just having a bad day, and I do realize that most people only ever review if they’re upset. But I have a feeling, that I include myself in, that patience are getting some of the best treatment out there. Their traffic for people who are there every month is huge, that wouldn’t happen if people weren’t receiving results. If you’re serious about getting help, I highly recommend this establishment. Take the 1 stars with a grain of salt. My 2 cents at least

The receptionists are absolutely incompetent and rude and should not be running a psychiatric care facility. I once sat and waited for over an hour for an appointment, and I was once charged a no show fee for showing up 10 minutes late, and had to reschedule for a month out. Two weeks ago I had an appointment that I tried to cancel days in advance but the phone was never answered (even during business hours) and my calls were never returned. I was charged another no show fee and told to come back in two weeks. So I go in on a Wednesday (today), the day that the receptionist had told me to come in over the phone, and I am told that my doctor doesn’t work on Wednesdays, and that my appointment isn’t on the calendar. I told the front desk woman that this was a bit of an urgent issue I’ve been dealing with with my meds and she was very rude about telling me she could not fit me in for another month. If you love being treated poorly by front desk staff and charged ridiculous, unnecessary fees this place is for you I guess. If not, then don’t bother.

Terrible experience. I was better off before I came here. Their poor receptionist staff caused me to be without medication (bad withdrawals) on 2 occasions in a 3 month period. They came across as extremely rude over the phone when I was trying to correct the issue. If you are seeking psychiatric help, I know how hard it is to take the first step in doing so. You don't want it to be any harder than it already is. I advise you to go somewhere else.

I work in healthcare and understand how clinics operate. This office does not exemplify good patient care AT ALL. I would frequently leave voicemails with no return call. Once I finally got a hold of someone they told me they never got any of my messages and were not apologetic. I had two encounters where I went days without my medications due to this lack of communication. Once I established care with another provider, I canceled my appointment with them DAYS in advance. Due to the office never answering their calls, I left 2 voicemails clearly stating I wanted to cancel my appointment. One month later, I received a statement charging me a no show fee. I strongly advise anyone who needs good psychiatric care seek treatment from another office.

Would like to give zero stars. I have not been in their office for over year and am owed a refund. I have called multiple times over the last three months and with a physical visit with no reciprocation to getting the refund. Worst place for psychiatric, care avoid at all costs. Especially Dr. Edwards.

I love North End. I've always been treated well, and Janet is an amazing soul. Great place to seek help and counsel.

The clinic is really nice and my doctor was helpful is a way that, for the first time, really gave me hope. These negative reviews are written by angsty drug-seekers and I don't know what they're talking about. They had a lunatic working there for a short time, but she didn't last long. And then there's Laura (the receptionist). If you don't have something nice to say, you shouldn't say anything at all, so I'm not going to say anything at all about her (read between the lines). Actually, I can say this at least, I always have a whopper of a story to tell my husband about the "crazy lady at the front desk"!

Laura is seriously the nicest receptionist in the world, these people have to be talking about someone else.

I discontinued my relationship with this business for several reasons. First of call, the receptionist should not refuse to put you through to a providers voicemail and instead ask you to send HER an email about what I needed and she would print the email and pass it along to the provider. I managed to get my provider's email address and emailed her directly about an urgent issue. She didn't even remember what medications she had prescribed me in her reply. I had hoped to move up my appointment because I was having a serious family crisis involving the health of my young daughter that caused my anxiety to spike and they said I should just go to a therapist and work on my breathing. Continual switching of medications but yet unwilling to prescribe something that I know works because of its propensity for "addiction". I have already found a new provider. Really hoping to get some genuine care from them. I need anxiety treatment and not depression treatment.

I was referred to North End Psychiatry by my counselor. She thought I may be experiencing some very light bipolar symptoms. My initial appointment was between 5-10 minutes. In that time I was prescribed Lamictal and charged $400 for my initial setup appointment. This led to months of anguish and mental turmoil as the very drug they prescribed to me after only talking to me for 5-10 minutes caused havoc in my nervous system. Upon realizing the medication was likely responsible for the spike in problems with my anxiety and the onset of full blown depression after about a month, I began the incredibly painful journey of coming off the medication. In such a short time it was not supposed to be possible to develop an addiction to the drug, and yet I was exhibiting severe onset of withdrawal symptoms associated with the drug. "Brain flashes", essentially the feeling of electrical current shooting through my brain, generally experienced right as I would drift off to sleep. These would then lead straight into panic attacks, making every moment feel like it was my last. As a side effect of this, I began suffering from insomnia, a new hell I had yet to experience in my life. I would have to stay up all night because the brain flashes prevented me from sleeping, and I was only finally able to sleep once my body was completely exhausted and I finally passed out. This went on for two months. In the meantime, every call to Amy Edwards simply got me a reminder that it couldn't possibly be the medication doing this. I was experiencing what I assume to be the beginnings of losing my mind. I was completely out of control of my emotions and feelings. Every day felt like I was on the edge of something terrible. Eventually I was prescribed a second med to help me off of the first. This one was supposed to help me at least sleep. It did. For one night. After that it just seemed to amplify my other symptoms, so after consulting with Dr. Edwards, we discontinued it. I should also mention that at my many trips to Urgent Care for fear I was suffering some life threatening situation, I had multiple doctors tell me that the medication I was on, Lamictal, wasn't even the go to med for the condition she thought I might have specifically because patients have similar reactions to mine. Needless to say, once I came off the meds and my system had time to recover I was right as rain. Long story short, don't go to these people. If I could even get them to answer the phone they were really no help in the end. All I received for the almost $1,000 in medical bills was three months of hell and a much stronger appreciation for counseling. My counselor could not apologize enough for referring me to Dr. Edwards. I can honestly say that was the worst experience of my entire life. I should also echo another reviewer on the frustration of getting ahold of someone. I've left multiple messages to get ahold of someone only to finally connect with someone and find out my messages were somehow not received. That is not what you want to hear as your life seems to fall apart around you.

Very unorganized as a company in general, poor communication, front desk and the provider have odd and confused personalities. I really was very disappointed and will not be returning to this company for my care.

Clint Chrestenson

I selected this practice because it is only a few blocks from my home in the northend. I enjoyed walking over to my appointment this afternoon. I am unsure as to why others have rated the practice so harshly. From the front desk staff to my appointment with Marie, I was welcomed warmly and treated very well. The receptionist was very kind and Marie took the extra time with me to really drill down into my situation. They were both very caring, genuine, and professional. I can’t wait to go back for my next appointment. I felt great after my visit today and highly recommend giving them a chance.

Teresa Boardman

Absolutely the worst service but the front desk, add a hard lined policy on Late charges. As a new patient trying to establish care for a treatment no one else provides, to be told pay up for a no show when I was late for getting lost. So my options remain SLC or PDX. I get questioned on why I stick to my guns on this; yet, these providers are not questioned about their "We cannot make exceptions." Insurance companies should have policies about these issues.

Lilian Fierros

Caring psychiatrists and staff but Good luck trying to contact them through phone, you will alway get the voicemail.

Elektrikflow
