REVIEWS OF Raymond L. Davidson, MD IN Hawaii

Dr. Davidson was very willing to listen to our family's situation regarding our elderly mother's mental disabilities and our efforts to care for her. Dr. Davidson was very quick to accommodate an evaluation of her condition. We had been seeking help for our mother for a long time, only to be told that she needed to self-refer herself for evaluation. Finally, we found Dr. Davidson who arranged a meeting with our mother on our request. Our hands are no longer tied and we can now move forward in seeking the help Mother has needed for years! Thank you, Dr. Davidson!

I have nothing but good things to say about him. Check him out.

I will be telling all of my providers to never refer anyone to Dr. Raymond Davidson. I have a history of some mental health issues and after my previous psychiatrist retired I need to find a new psychiatrist. But I have never experienced what happened at my first appointment with Dr Davidson. I was originally a little concerned that the appointment was only scheduled for 30 mins (new client appointments are usually 45-60 mins) However when I went in for my appointment and left two mins later with a medication that I knew nothing about I was even more concerned. Then the receptionist breached my HIPPA rights by disclosing information over the phone to my mother. Well it was actually not my information, we believe she somehow pulled up my mother’s history as my own. So not only did the receptionist breach my privacy, she gave the wrong information. I will never go back or recommend Dr Raymond Davidson to anyone.

This man was unable to empathise with any single thing I said. He couldn't wait to boot me out. He told me I was a _____ ______ & would always be one. If u want a disgustingly intense egomaniac,go here. What a joke

Crissy Quebatay

I love this guy. He's caring so nice. He allows me to help with my treatment and I highly recommend him

Shelly Wilkinson

This guy is an uneducated, abusive hack who should have his medical license suspended. A complete megalomaniac, he definitely violates the Hippocratic Oath of "Physician, do no harm." DO NOT GO TO THIS GUY!!!! He actually called himself god and was the craziest person I've ever met. A danger to the community.

My husband went in there as a first time/new patient of Dr. Raymond’s. Unfortunately he had a very uncomfortable and poor appointment experience. This doctor did not seem interested in listening to the questions and concerns my husband had. Instead, he answered the questions with egotistical and prideful responses. Very rude and insensitive. He needs to calm his ego down and really listen to their patients and address their concerns with sensitivity.

Dr. Davidson and his office staff are awesome. They are always very helpful and efficient. I have always been satisfied with my care from them.

Dr. Davidson seems to be a caring doctor. But due to being on Quest, the pool of doctors in his line of practice are very limited. With that being said, he is way better and caring then my last doctor. My only issue is that I have been on medicine rides before. After years of finding out what works best for me, I like to stick to that certain meds that do the job. Now I have been see Dr. Davidson and I and going on a medicine ride because he feels what has proven to work for me, does not meet his criteria. I can sleep, eat or seem to be able to prevent panic attacks and my anxiety. Like I said, he seems to care but I can only speculate why he thinks that the meds that have worked for me, for many years, do not fit his style of practice. Perhaps he might be too text book on treatments and combinations of meds. I just pray that this medicine ride does not land me in jail like the ride I have been on over 10 years ago.

At the beginning of my 1st appointment he asked what brought me to see him today. I basically gave him my history with mental/emotional health and explained what led me there (seeking help to possibly get medication). I brought up meeting with my previous doctor, an experienced licensed psychologist, and what diagnosis he had given me. I felt at that point Dr. Davidson’s demeanor changed. He started to question why he gave me that diagnosis. “What did you say to him that made him think that?” I explained that I had seen that doctor several times and that it was a culmination of lots of discussions. At that point he basically tried to make it sound like my previous doctor didn’t know what he was doing. “You saw him that many times and you’re still coming here.” He disagreed with what he had diagnosed me with and suggested a few different things that he felt I was dealing with. I had only been in his office for about 10 minutes and he was already suggesting that he knew better what I was dealing with. I was confused and really felt like his ego was coming out. I really trusted the doctor that I had previously seen so when he discredited him, it did not really build any confidence in him as my new doctor. I asked him if he ever collaborated with other doctors when he received new patients. At that point I think that I really offended his ego. Like by me asking him that, I was somehow questioning his intelligence. His response to my question, and I kid you not, was “No, I don’t really trust anyone else. I trust myself more than anyone else. I’ve had more schooling than most therapists on this island.” Then he said something along the lines of “If you think I need to get help from someone else this isn’t really going to work. If anything people come to ME for help.” I was just blown away by his response. I wasn’t suggesting that he needed help, I only asked if he ever collaborated to get information from a previous doctor that has known that patient longer. This was my first time seeing a psychiatrist as an adult and I didn’t really know what to expect. After his response I explained the only reason that I brought that up was because that doctor had seen me on and off for a while so I felt he knew me well. I explained that I had only seen him, Dr. Davidson, this one time. At that point he told me that it only takes him “2 minutes” to know a patient. I questioned him “really 2 minutes?” I find that hard to believe but hey I’m not the doctor, right?? He then said if I wanted to go and see a different psychiatrist who would spend “hours and hours” with me I could do that but “I don’t know of any doctors who would do that.” I was just completely frustrated and shocked at this point. I had only spent maybe 25 minutes with the guy and he was telling me I could get a second opinion. A second opinion on what? You barely asked me any questions about myself and spent the majority of the time talking about how smart you were and how much experience you have and that you do this “50 times a day” Way to make your patient feel like you actually care. To end the appointment he said he would not be prescribing me any medication because I was not “ready” in his opinion. He basically said that I was not at the point of “I’ll try anything, I just need help.” Which for me meant that in order for you to take medication in his opinion you have to be desperate. That is not how I felt. I would like to continue to address my issues and grow and improve, but that means that I can’t still be cautious about medication? I had questions but I felt like every question that I asked him was being taken like I was doubting him in his profession. Obviously this is not a complete account of my appointment but these are the things that really stood out to me. He was arrogant and did not show any concern for me or what I was dealing with. I came out very frustrated and discouraged. That was the first psychiatrist I had seen and was really hoping to get help but instead left feeling much worse than when I came. I would not recommend him to anyone.

My name is Clyde Nipp and I’m using my wife’s iPhone. I want to say that Dr. Davidson from the get go explained to me exactly what kind of doctor he is and wanted to be sure that we were on the same page. He is not a Psychologist. I also want to add that from day one, Dr. Davidson has been a warm and caring doctor. For example, I couldn’t make my appointment one day so he accommodated me and squeezed me in the next day. He makes you feel comfortable and I highly recommend him.

Knowledgeable and caring. He is seeing to my psychiatric needs in a proffesional/ unabusive way. He is knowledgeable about what he prescribes and also cares about the health/safety of his patients. I highly recommend this doctor because nobody else in Honolulu returned my call within a week besides his office. Currently a happy patient, finally starting to get a grip on my manic tendencies.

Dr. Davidson has been a big help with taking my concerns into consideration while dualy prescribing me with just the right medication for the daily struggles of life that will get easier. Thanks again for all that you do Doc! Sincerely, Bugz Bunny.

My doctor of 25 years was about to retire and had searched for the best doctor to take me. He had lined up everything with Dr. Davidson’s office. Sadly he passed away before my last appointment. But Dr. Davidson and his staff quickly without wait took me under their wing. They have treated me with the utmost professionalism and also the wonderful personal kindness I had become accustomed to with my Dr. of 25 years. The office and waiting area are clean and very pleasant. Very little wait time. The tv is always on my favorite program, the Dog Whisper. Dr. Davidson comes to the waiting area personally to greet his patients. He wears a very welcoming smile. 100% satisfied.

Did not like this Doctor at all. He was very cold, judgemental, quiet , and uncaring. I thought he acted like I was wasting his time. He was rude and seemed like he didn't care one way or the other. Of all the doctors i have been to throughput my life I will just say he's the worst one I'd ever been to.

Rhonda Ryan

Dr. Davidson knows his stuff! Educated, empathetic, compassionate and willing to work with a complicated person such as myself. His staff is amazing as well. They are always professional and handle patients with care. Really happy with the services.

Kristyn Ige

Dr. Davidson is very professional person. I am a Patient of his in Hilo. When I first went to see him I did tell him what I was on when I had kaiser. He asked me if the medication I was taking helped before and said yes and he decided to keep me on them and not change a thing. He’s very attentive and always in a great mood even at my 6:20am appointments. Thank you dr. Davidson n to your staff in helping out with everything!

Davidson is hands down the worst physician I have ever been to. And I've had a long life.. I transferred to him from an excellent doctor that accepted a job as the head of phyciatry at another facility. Davidson wanted to suddenly change and reduce my medications that had been working with the doctor I had been seeing for years and years. After speaking with him for 7 mins, he flat out did not respect my doctor's professional assessments at all. I could not believe how bad it could be for some people who don't know the difference between a good doctor and a bad one. Some of the reviews on here are a delusional joke. Davidson is an uncaring, horrible prima donna of a man with tight pink pants and snake skin boots and intense arrogance to boot.. I will definitely be going to a different doctor no matter the cost.

Kayla Medoff

I switched insurance companies and was referred to Dr. Davidson through Kaiser. I came to him happy with the medication plan I was currently on and didn't have any issues with Dr. Davidson up until now. I needed my medication adjusted/changed and he wanted me to stop what I was taking cold turkey and start a new medication right away. I told him I was concerned about withdrawals and switching to a medication I never heard of and he told me not to worry. After my appointment I went home and looked up side effects and reviews of the medication he suggested and not only were the side effects not something I wanted to risk but almost all the reviews on this medication were horrible and scary. I called Dr. Davidson and asked to make another appointment to discuss other options and to remain on the medication I currently am on until then. THAT is when his bedside manner completely changed. I brought my 5 year old with me to my next appointment as I have before because of school break and after saying "Hey, how are you?" Dr. Davidson completely demoralized me. He seemed to be offended I didn't want to take that medication he recommended and made me feel really bad about myself by talking down to me (and in front of my daughter). He said he "has thousands of patients", many of whom are on this particular medication and I shouldn't believe what I read online over him. I said I have a nice life and don't want to risk it by taking a medication I don't feel is right for me. I asked if there were other medications instead of that one and he said there are many but refused to name any of them, even saying "You want me to list all of them and their side effects?!" I told him that he's the professional and should at least discuss options with his patients to which he responded by patronizing me, telling me to "go home and research online and tell him what to prescribe since I know more than him". After about 5 minutes of his rudeness, eye rolls, and condescending disposition I just walked out of the office. As soon as I got to my car I cried because I just couldn't believe how he was talking to me. I've never experienced anyone, let alone a doctor who I thought I had a good relationship with, treat me like that before. He is very unprofessional and is not a doctor for the right reasons.

Rodney Martinez

I have a special needs client and not many Drs welcome clients like mine. Dr. Davidson agreed to see us and help correct former doctors over medication of my client. I recommend him to my colleagues for their clients. It is very difficult finding a Dr willing to treat special needs and even more difficult finding a Dr who is respectful to clients with special needs.
