my girlfriend and I had an appointment set up at 5:30 P.M. on a Monday. I arrived to the appointment approximately 15 minutes early assuming there would be paperwork to be filled out although we were not told to be there early. Upon arriving, I saw the mountain of paperwork to be filled out that took well over 15 minutes. also upon entering her "office", I was greeted by Tara with sunglasses on and a smug scowl on her face. no introduction whatsoever. just "oh theres the paperwork let me know when youre finished" there were two dogs, a child, and her husband in the office as well. my girlfriend arrived at approximately 5:40, due to high traffic as well as a commute from Venice to Cape Coral. After filling out paperwork for 45 minutes, and still not formerly greeted by Tara, we decided this was not the counselor we were looking for. we wanted to take our paperwork home, discuss whether we wanted to return for an actual session, and if that were the case reschedule. I asked Tara if that would be possible and she looked at both my girlfriend and I as if we were stupid. we felt extremely uncomfortable, highly judged, and very unwelcomed. she told us it would be an $80 charge for the appointment, RIDICULOUS. we understand maybe $20 for a missed appointment that only took up 30 minutes and then she charged us an extra $3 to process a credit card. my girlfriend left and I returned to tell Tara how I felt. She basically told me it was our fault we weren't there on time, I explained nobody told us we needed to arrive early for the amount of paperwork. she immediately went on the defense and told me it's "her time and she needs her money" ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? YOU ARE IN THE PROFESSION OF HELPING PEOPLE, NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEM TO TAKE THEIR MONEY. we have both seen several therapists and counselors, and she was by far the worst and only talked to her for 10 minutes if that. ALSO if you are a member of the LGBTQ community, she claims to specialize in "transgender counselling" yet only offers M/F as a choice for sex in her paperwork. highly unprofessional, very selfish, very judgmental, not open minded or willing to help whatsoever. first impressions mean EVERYTHING and this was one of the worst we've encountered. would not recommend to ANYONE. find a new profession if all you want is money, you aren't helping anyone. the fact she has 1 "5 star" review from herself should explain a lot.

Best counselor ever! My girlfriend and I are doing so much better. Tara is wonderful and treated us like family the second we walked through the doors. :)
