I was a patient at palm shores twice for two months at a time and all i can say is that the staff is absolutely amazing they really do care about you and they all try there best to listen to you and handle you in the best way possible i had a very good therapist and staff on my unit even though i wasn't very cooperative half of the time they take the time to understand why and try to help it obviously wasn't fun being away from home for so long but they made it feel a lot more comfortable and i got the treatment i needed and i have been sober and baker act free ever since also if you go there keep a look out for Mr.Anthony he is amazing and so is everyone else on the Atlantis unit you'll know who the regulars on that unit are when you get there

My family felt welcome from the first time we arrived. A relative received treatment from the staff at Palm Shores for several months. From the nurses to the support staff everyone treated them like family. The counselors were kind and patient. They saved my family and helped us come back together. Before leaving they made sure we had the resources needed to support our family that would ensure a successful return. From my family's experiences we have not encountered a warm caring place like Palm Shores. Though it has be a difficult process at times we will always be grateful for the healing that occurred.

Forever grateful to entire staff at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center!!! This organization literally saved my granddaughters life! From the very first phone call made to the very first encounter with Mr. A to our initial 1st day arrival my granddaughter and I were treated with the utmost respect and compassion. Trust me...my granddaughter would tell me in a heartbeat if there was any type of mistreatment or abuse. There were some struggling adjustment the first couple weeks of enrollment trying to acclimate to a totally different lifestyle environment living with so many varied personalities, new living quarters, and a very disciplined daily schedule. I truly believe you get what you give. The ultimate success of any behavioral health program is totally up to the individual receiving the treatment and having the full support of family members working with the advice of the doctor’s, nurses, counselors, and staff members. My granddaughter was In the program for 6 months. Her grades were failing upon initial arrival but upon her release she achieved all A’s & B’s. She thoroughly loved all of the meals prepared through Palm Shores cafeteria (by the way a very picky eater) and really enjoyed the elderly gentleman who oversaw and prepared the meals. I can’t say enough positive words regarding the counselor who was assigned to my granddaughter...Ms. C is totally “AMAZING”...was able to connect with my granddaughter to help her heal with all of her inner emotional struggles. The watchful eyes of the entire staff helped keep my granddaughter on track through a successful completion of the program. On discharge day there were many tears shed from both my granddaughter, myself, and the staff members. The bonds and friendships made over the past several months will be cherished for a lifetime!!! Thank you so much to every member of your Palm Shores Team . Sincerely, B. Reece

This was a good experience! Although I had a lot of arguments and I saw a lot of things this placed helped me for the better. The staff was amazing, the food was alright, and spending the holidays like Christmas and New Years is really hard. Incentive was great!

The staff was excellent in how they treated my child. They helped her so much!! Thank you Palm Shores staff!!

This was a hard experience, but necessary for the success of the family. The staff were very professional, caring, informative, and provided constant sound feedback. We were concerned about the heavily incentive based model of behavior modification, but they balanced it all with a rounded therapy approach for our son.

My child went to Palm Shores in Bradenton and although the therapists and doctor were great the staff were the most ghetto, unprofessional people I have ever encountered. It is a shock to me that they would hire such uneducated people to deal with such a high risk population. This should be looked into and fixed if you seek longevity for the facility.

Midori Okane

Ruined my friends life, makes you want to kill yourself more. literally anywhere else makes you want live more, even the front lines of an active war zone. They suck the life out of you and then give you even more of a reason to die. the empty monotonous days seem to drag on forever and the staff there treats you like dirt. Take your suicidal kids on a trip and try to pretend you love them, or if you are a good parent actually care about them.

Karim Jasso

Horrible place they addmited my duaghter didnt gave me any updates never return my calls they didnt allow me or any other family member to visit not even to speak by phone.. Some supervisors and nurses were super rude by phone like Janeth and Paul. Keeping a 15 year old isolated and then releasing them back to the family they kept them away like nothing happened.. They dont answer questions and if they do is in a bad mood... Worst experience ever dont take your teenagers there!!!!! Is like a prison or worst.... There no half a star option so giving them one and is too much...

Nancy Bragg

The staff is the utmost of professionalism- from intake to day to day activities. The therapist my son had was amazing!! I can’t begin to tell you how much I would recommend this place to turn around your teen.

Stacy Greer

I know from personal experience this place saves lives. The team of staff care and everyone there was kind and took the time to really help out from the MHTs to the CEO. This place is a Godsend. Thank you Palm Shores!

I was in Palm shores for 7 months with 4 attempted suicideds before that . All i can say is this place was my saving grace . I am now off all medication have a fence and a daughter and another baby on the way ... This would have never been possible if it weren't for this place i was at 2 other residentals before and i always ended up doing the same thing. This place changed my life.

Augustine Lenden

I was admittted here in early 2018 for self harm tendencies. But I voiced clearly to doctors, staff, and therapists that I had no intention of killing myself and that my behavior was triggered by traumatic events occurring within the facility. My parents tried to remove me from that environemnt but they were repeatedly told by the doctor that if they made any attempt to discharge me, my family would be reported to Child Protective Services. Of course being there and seeing unnecessary restraints, staff take their anger out of patients, and not feeling like the staff were there to keep us “safe” was traumatic so I was self harming almost everyday. I wouldn’t call this facility a hospital it’s more of a prison for insurance collection. There were many unstable kids in there that would get into fistfights and constantly act out but once their insurance ran out, it didn’t matter if they had gotten into a fight yesterday, they were out the same day. Its not about a patients recovery, for the staff it’s about highlighting any sign of mental illness and using it to keep the insurance money coming in.

THIS PLACE IS GROSS. I SAW KIDS THROWING EACH OTHER OVER TABLES, THEY WAS KIDS DRINKING HAIR PRODUCT AND BOYS TOUCHING 13 YEAR OLD GIRLS UNDER THE TABLE AT INCENTIVE. THE NURSE GAVE ME WRONG MEDICATION AND I GOT EXTREMELY SICK. NOT THE MENTION ONE OF THE CAFETERIA WORKERS GOT FIRED BECAUSE THEY WERE TAKING FRUIT OUT OF THE TRASHCAN AND SERVING IT AGAIN. THE ATLANTIS UNIT IS MOLDY AND IT SMELLS SO BAD. DO NOT EVER SEND YOUR KID HERE ITS SCARY AND UNCOMFORTABLE.

Maria Perez

This facility does not care about the kids. They are not cooperative or communicative with the families. Further, they are very disrespectful to their residents. Main focus for this facility was to get you in and get the insurance payments...you run out of benefits - GET OUT...NOW!

My son is very young and has struggled to get the help he needs with depression, odd, and dmdd because of his age and because most therapists we have dealt with have been unsuccessful. So while it is unfortunate that outpatient treatment was not effective we are incredibly grateful for the palm shores staff for what they were able to do to help my son. After a 2 month stay this is the most optimistic we have ever been about his future. His therapist was amazing. She had great practical exercises that made sense for his age and really targeted his specific problem areas and most importantly they were effective in helping him build positive emotional skills. The entire treatment team made what could have been a very difficult time for all into the most positive of an experience you could hope for in a situation like this. At the end of the day no one would ever want to be in need of these services but it is great to know that if my son ever gets into trouble again or if anyone in the community is struggling that there is a great place like palm shores as an option.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!! I spent 6 months in this facility between 11/9/15 and 5/19/16 and I will be the first person to tell you that I received absolutely no benefit whatsoever from being there. I was sent to Palm Shores for substance abuse treatment, depression, etc and I did not get any of the treatment promised to me. I was voluntarily admitted with the false hope that I could get help there. That being said, in the time that I stayed there, I was attacked by staff on several occasions by being choked and punched and dragged from my bed by force when I was over medicated and physically unable to move. furthermore, I was denied my individual education needs and spent 6 months twiddling my thumbs while the teachers played movies for class and called it an education. Please, for the sake of your child, don't even consider this place; there are plenty of better programs within the state.

Bob Wilson

This is carli. DO NOT SEND YA KIDS HERE. Like frfr. This place sucks with a capital S-U-C-K-S. The only thing theraputic about this place is that some of the techs really really care. You meet with youre therapist 2 times a week IF UR LUCKY! Other than that youre basically sending your child away to big kid preschool. We do nothing but watch tv all day and dont trust albee, THERE IS NO POOL!!! The only good thing is the beautiful techs and some of the girls. Most of them are crazy af but some of them have good advice. Shout to the stallion trio. #phase4materialtho #givemrtheronaraise #givemscaseyaraise #givemsmichellearaise #stalliontrio #freemygirlchaser #givemrsshawnaraise #givemrssamanthaaraise #givemrbyronaraise #TT4L #AT4L

They are not a great solution with their residential program. They have a one shoe fits all approach to their patients that proved ineffective in our case. Their monthly team meetings are a joke; they don't care for your input and completely disregard legitimate concerns about your child well-being. They have no problems sending home a child who is a risk to themselves and others. Now we need to find another facility. I agree with the review below and wish we had seen it prior to choosing this place.

Have a teen who is suicidal and emotionally unstable is/was very difficult. We had an amazing team at Palm Shores that helped all of us understand why and how we could help and hurt the process. The techs who went to school with my my child and those who helped at night were great. At first we felt security was a little over done but came to realize how important it was and to follow the advice of the team.

Leah Chyann

I have a better relationship w my parents bc of the separation. I love all the girls on my unit and a lot of the staff. They really do try and help. But you and your family have to be receptive. It also means actually wanting to get better. I got out a week ago and miss everyone dearly:(

Amanda Caminero

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take your child there under any circumstances. I wish there were reviews to warn me about this place before I placed my daughter there. She was hurt multiple times, and ultimately could have died due to an incident that happened there. Her going there did way more harm than any benefit. It may look like a nice facility and there are some nice people there, but overall they are there to make money and cover their own behinds.. I wish I never knew about this place.. Beware...

KevinSmellsGood

I don't often have to leave a review for anything unless it's something that has to be brought up, but I recieved the worst customer service from a nasty lady named Latrice. She acted as if I were on HER clock. This place has really gone downhill

Sherri H

Really please with the care our child received at Palm Shores. The staff all really made sure all needs were taken care of, therapies were followed through, and encouragement provided all along the way.

Jim H

thank you very much. The staff are very nice and I really appreciate their help

Melvin Howell

Very helpful Behavioral Center, the staff and administration , actually care about the patient well being.

Debbie Trenker

I have had a very good experience so far at Palm Shores. Everyone has been very responsive to me when I have questions and concerns. My son has shown great improvement. He is learning some good coping skills and getting the opportunity to put them in practice in a safe environment. His academic progress has been very good. He is becoming more secure and his self esteem is growing and he is learning to take academic chances and ask for help instead of just giving in to his frustrations. The patience and caring I see from the staff - especially the school staff is heart warming.

Steven Warren

A well run facility with outgoing and highly professional staff.

Alexis Allen

Okay so my name is Alexis I was currently in Palm shores for 6 months when I first came there I didn't care getting in fights real disrespectful but I got my reality check real quick..Palm shores opened my eyes made me change my mindset on things...now all these ppl commenting negative things because those staff put u in check u not gonna disrespect nobody those staff are there to support y'all they know how it feels to be abandoned abuse and ect y'all think they don't care about y'all they do they wouldn't come to work just to deal with y'all they can find a job that makes more money and easy so for those parents that need help please take my advice Palm shores changed me if I didn't go there probably end up dead or sum but thanks to Palm shores they helped me.. and your kids gonna complain in the beginning I did but everything will work out ya..
