I cant even tell you what a blessing it is to be a patient here. After calling DOZENS of places I continuously heard that they didnt accept new patients, were booked out for 5 months, or they didnt take my insurance. When I called Wilkins Family Psychiatry, I had an appointment within a few weeks and had no issues with my insurance. Their Nurse Practitioner, Tarah, has always made me feel comfortable, and important. She listens to me and talks with me about all of my treatment options before we decide together what would be best. I was so hesitant to start the journey seeing a psychiatrist, but Tarah and everyone at the office made me feel so much more at ease. They are easy to get in touch with if you need to change an appointment, or have follow up questions, and really care about what they are doing. It is so worth the hour drive I make to see her.

Dr. Wilkins has been my Doc for 8 years. He knows what works and what doesn’t. When I first went to see him I was a complete mess but he got me stable. I actually have not had to see him for over a year since I have been finally been able to get off of all medication which is been a big victory for me. And yet I still check in with him and The level of care you get from him and his staff is A+ quality. I probably would not be here today if it wasn’t for him and that help me help me to get.

Dr. Wilkins is really great. As I saw another woman say, he's a medical psychiatrist (right terminology?) but he's not the kind that you sit with and talk for an hour. He finds the right meds for you & he's very good at it. He's very patient and understanding and will not give up until you're feeling better. He listens to you explain your feelings and will come up with a plan for meds to see how they help. Depression/Anxiety meds are extremely hard to find the perfect combination for everyone so there is a bit of trial and error, since every person's chemistry is completely different. Believe me, I grew up watching someone constantly changing meds to find a balance and never did. I wish I could of sent him to Dr. Wilkins before he passed. He's helped me climb out of the hole I've been in for sometime now & I couldn't of done it without him. He's always there when I need him. No matter the time of day and even weekends he always answers my emails and has an answer for me, which is very reassuring. I trust Dr. Wilkins, which is difficult for me to do & why I wouldn't see anyone else. The 30 min drive is worth it!

This is not a Doctor you would want to waste your time with, particularly since its your mental health we are talking about. I went there twice, to be prescribed 3 different medications, as a hit or miss or trial and error basis, since he didn't listen to me for more than 5 minutes in the 2 visits combined.

My husband is a current patient. He loves Dr.wilkins but the front desk staff needs some serious help. We both call and call to schedule or reschedule appointments and no one EVER answers the phone!! Also if you leave a voicemail they never call you back! We have to call multiple times over and over just to get someone on the phone. It’s so absurd and unprofessional!!

I went to see him days ago after waiting four months to get in and I've been on meds since I was a young kid for ADHD. He took my 250$ and said he will let me know the next day what to give me. Now days later he still avoids my calls and I literally feel like I paid for him to talk to me for 3 minutes and I'm still waiting for the meds he told me he would send through the mail. Which is illegal. Next I'm calling the American medical association if he doesn't give me my money back and reporting him and calling everyone and anyone I can.

Dr. Wilkins is a wonderful psychiatrist. I've been seeing him for 2 years on and off. He is a medical psychiatrist meaning he focuses only on your medications and helps find the best medication for you. That's his job, he isn't the kind of Dr. that you sit and talk about your problems in life and so on. He had done a wonderful job listening to me when I have problems and he tries to come up with a plan as to what he can do and gives me the say in that matter too. He is a great person and a great medical psychiatrist. I love almost an hour away from his office and I still go to see him.

I’ve been seeing Dr Wilkins for almost a year. He’s not a therapist. He prescribes medication. I’ve found him very professional. Astute and accommodating. He evaluates and treats. If you want to talk, he is not your Dr. He manages medications. Excellent Psychiatrist!
