Mentally emotionally verbally and at times physically abusive to adolescent patients. My son was there unfortunately. He watched a staff member bully and hit a patient with autism who could not speak. The staff members on 2 east verbally and emotionally attack patients. Cursing at them and calling them names destroying their self esteem. Not what you would want for your child that needs to heal. The male staff on 2 east provoke male teens instigate fights and bully the very clients that make their pay checks possible. Staff also steal money from patients. Paperwork said my son had money but nobody could find it in the "safe" when he eas discharged. Im sure staff used it for the vending machines as it was all in one dollar bills. Ive heard myself while on the phone how staff talks and refers to patients and theres no way they should be working around children especially children with mental health issues. Iam reporting this hell hole to the state. By all means do not send your loved ones there! Not sure how adult services are but this is not a mentally healthy environment

While There were a few good nurses and techs, sadly most are nasty, rude, dismissive, and disinterested in caring for patients. What ever training the techs had, it was not enough, or some didn't learn a thing. I saw money stolen from a fellow patent, saw techs who consistently treated distressed patients with body language and tone that only served to elevate the situation and blamed the patient. They do not listen to the people acting less like patient care techs and more like prison guards. Were I in charge I'd be firing a lot of techs and nurses. Yes Angel, Terrilyn and Crystal..I am looking right at you three miserable b•••••s. Never go to or send anyone you love here. The few good people are not worth the foul bitter slugs.

If I could rate this place as a zero I would. I wouldn't let my worst enemy go here. My mother's boyfriend was put here last week from a suicide attempt, he was released on Monday, came home and within 2 hours of being home, he hung himself. He is gone cause this "hospital" let him leave. They should be ashamed of themselves. And when my mother called to let them know what happened, someone on the phone told my mother that she sounds depressed and she should seek hospitalization. Really? Of course she is depressed! That place let a mentally ill person back home to finish what he started! Horrible, horrible hospital.

Was offered a job here a a referral. Unfortunately the kids are not the only ones who need help. The kids are kids and are a lol broken. But with time & the right enviornment they have a fighting chance. It was one particular staff member that I encountered talking poorly to the kids and unfortunately the personal life if this person should not cross paths with these types of children. I actually believe in blood on your hands and though this man goes to church, has kids, a wife and works. Behind closed doors he is on gay hookup sites for men and trans men on the low, has been par taken in local north, West Philly sex parties, multiple ones, and heavy smoking and drinking while driving . So it's cool to live your life but I'm not sure a man who lies to society and commits ever crime under the sin , in a sneaky way while wearing a mask and disguising people is no leader. I'm good and I will not expose so I won't take part. But if u are concerned for your loved ones safety please consider another place. They hire whatever here apparently and do thorough check ups on people and staff. Good look everyone. Peace

I have a relative that attends this clinic and she have come a very long way in a positive direction after attending the clinic. God bless her doctor and the staff.

Call this a hospital? Disgusting. The staff was terrible and the hospital is organized horribly.

Michael Bruja

Do not go here! They make you leave a message and can’t talk to a live person to schedule and appointment. Been on the waiting list and they don’t call you back. I’m sure it’s a high suicide rate from calling this place. I don’t even see how they’re still in business!

Butta Luv

It seems like a nice place, so far. Based off the reviews I've read here I was a lil skeptical to work here. I'll update as needed.. But, so far it's a regular behavioral health hospital.

Rannesmay {emo girl} {chim-chim}

It was miserable, the staff act like children, don’t do their job, fight, and allow the patients to fight by encouraging them to do so, I have been there twice, on units 2 center and 2 south, they both were terrible

The children's unit 1 South of Belmont Behavioral Hospital which holds children ages 5 - 12 years old is not very hygienic. There is currently a large issue with rodents and this is something that was verbally confirmed by the staff to me in a meeting I had with administration on behalf of my 11 year old child's release. I cut short this very important hospitalization due to the facilities cleanliness, rodent issue, and NUMERIOUS concerns of mistreatment by the BHA staff to my child and other children. They curse out the children, they without consent of myself gave my child a test after we adamantly made clear that they had NO consent to have blood tests/needles since this was unnecessary during her stay, they then gave her a TB test (Which I understand is not in need of consent now) however they should have made me aware of because this was four days into her hospital stay instead of the first 24 hours of the stay which is when is should be done. Once this test was administered by staff she then had a bad mental reaction and the BHA staff then manhandled my child to subdued her to sedate her, this also happened without any paperwork submitted to her file which was admitted to me in the exit meeting as well and was to be looked into by the nursing supervisor. They also continued to given my vegetarian child meat throughout the stay as well as the basic cleanliness is just not up to standards on a child's unit. My child was there for DEPRESSION not behavioral issues and has never exhibited any behavioral issues, this place is unsuitable which is terrible because the Dr.'s and therapists actually care, they just cant contain the minute to minute staff.

Belmont Behavior Health has saved son who suffers from a mood disorder. After a terrible experience at another facility in Ambler, this place was like a breathe of fresh air. Their doctors assessment and their therapy has been thorough. The staff is wonderful and the facilities are comfortable, Would highly recommend.

Belmont hospital has great programs to help your child. Depending on what situation your child is coming from it can be extremely effective. My child was not previously exposed to some of the children she saw. Primarily children who curse and fight for their reasons. My daughter was broken down by it plus not being able to eat. She is so picky that she would rather starve.( she was offered every meal they had to offer she is just so picky she would much rather not eat and starve before eating their meals). Overall the staff tried to be as helpful as possible in their unique environment and tried to console her according to the rules. She was admitted Friday night through crisis center and I discharged her against medical advice that Tuesday due to my parental concerns. For a child who comes from a loving home wait until Monday and only admit your child if you have exhausted all other options is my personal opinion. My baby girl was “scared straight “ which calms some of her symptoms but does not resolve things for now and is also not a permanent solution. I hope this helps the next parent mane their choice about having their child evaluated and possible admitted

I have been to almost every mental health hospital in the area and i can say without a doubt, this one is one of the worst. i will leave this short and just say that at one point, a fellow patient told me {IN FRONT OF MULTIPLE STAFF} to KILL MYSELF, and no-one did a thing. i even went to the nurses station to report it but they did nothing. they didn't put her in a quiet room, keep her in her room for the rest of the day, or anything. i left there feeling worse than when i went in. just a week later i was back in a crisis center. PARENTS, take it from a child who has been in and out of the mental health system since age 6, this is one of the worst hospitals. one i would highly recommend is Hall mercer in south philadelphia {NOTE: This one is for people 18+ and they have amazing doctors/staff, and depending on your ward, there's even an outside patio area you can go to sit whenever you feel like it.} The best one that i have found for people under 18 is Friends hospital. the care is incredible there. if there is anyone out there reading this who needs help with finding good places to go for mental health (in patient, out patient, therapy, psycatrists, etc.) ,i have you covered 100%. feel free to contact me if you need me.

Keirstin Betz

I don't usually post reviews but this place needs to be held accountable for its terrible and overall unqualified services. The problems with this facility go beyond the time spent there. I went to therapy (out patient) once a week for about 5 months and it did not help. I originally shrugged it off assuming therapy just may not be a good treatment plan for me. A year later I am ready to see a different therapist at a different organization which has led to an annoying 2 month process of trying to get medical records forwarded along. After a month of not hearing anything I had to reach out to the office to see what the issue was, they explained the paperwork sent over from original visit at another facility was not valid and I would need to fill out theirs. 6 phone calls and two days later someone finally emails me a copy of the forms. Then I had to continuously call to check on the progress between two departments because apparently the medical release office and the out patient office don't communicate effectively with an estimate of 30 business days to have my records released. When I was finally able to speak to outpatient instead of a voice mail I was told they never received the request that was supposedly sent over a week ago. The woman out patient was able to have my stuff processed and it is said to be in transit to the other facility which would take a week or so because they don't fax things just postal sending (IN 2018?????). As soon as I think this situation is resolved I receive a $200 bill for services from a year ago out of no where. Spoke to my insurance and they explained they will be reviewing the bill again and they the facility should not be billing me directly for anything especially this far past the date of treatment. They may be taking advantage of people with these delayed bills especially since the majority of their patients are seeking help for mental illness. TLDR: The service is abysmal at best during outpatient treatment. the headache doesn't end after leaving this place especially if you need medical records released. The staff does not communicate or seem to care about doing their job whatsoever. If you receive a delayed bill contact your insurance to clear things up, Belmont or their collection agency will not be helpful.

When i say i was tricked into sending my daughter to this so called hospital it was more like a prison......me and my children went to visit it was so scary

TOM SOBUSIAK

This is a good place to stick it to someone you hate. If you're looking to add that one flew over the cuckoo's nest to your life experience or you can swing an illegal 302 on a pal or spouse this place if for you. You'll be chased you'll witness glass smashing and most of all you see utter nuttery from all sides( staff patients etc).

Heather Schwartz

They do nothing but lie in this place it is beyond filthy, the staff are the most rude and inconsiderate ppl Ive met in my life. Everything Ive brought up for my daughter has gotten stolen, Ive seen them get physical with other children . Please please do not go or send anyone to this facility. They may lose all of your belongings and make up lots of lies so u never get out. RUN RUN RUN FAR AWAY PLEASE DO NOT WALK FOOT IN THE DOOR. They do nothing they say or supposed to do

I was in the new adolescent wing almost exactly a year ago and it was probably the most traumatic part of my recovery. The "group therapy" sessions were beyond unorganized. Fights would break out daily and weren't broken up quickly at all. There was little food that could be considered edible in the cafeteria. One of the nurses overdosed me which left me with a dangerously low blood pressure for the entire day. This made me unable to leave my bed without passing out. They refused to bring up food for me the entire day and refused to send me back to the ER. We were treated like cattle, it was a rare occasion that you could even look out the window. Not to mention at the time, I identified as a trans boy. Instead of being supportive I was frequently demeaned and questioned about my identity. On my sheet it said I was sent for a "med fix", but the entire time I was there, there wasn't a single medication that was modified. When I expressed my concerns to my mother and the staff, they threatened to AMA me if I did not stay. It did more damage to me than anything and I wouldn't even send my worst enemy there. Nobody deserves to be treated like this. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONE, DON'T SEND THEM THERE IF YOU EVER WANT THEM TO GET BETTER.

Melissa McCaslin

Making the decision to admit any person to a hospital can be terrifying. The staff at Belmont were very kind and compassionate upon entry. The admission process was streamlined and informative. It is an older building that needs to be fixed up but, I understand a new building is being erected; that's a positive. Recommendation for the interim: the area where families are meeting with loved ones; a new coat of paint (happy colors) would do wonders until the new building is up. Also, A/C is needed in those meeting rooms or at least fan. Overall, the staff and treatment plan are solid. It is a hard process to accept and I'm very grateful for the help that is being provided to help turn a life around. Thank you.

this place was dick. very unsanitary, the staff often didn't care about anything. most wanted fights to happen so they would have a reason to jump in and restrain people. staff picked on patients just because they could, and it was almost like they wanted the patients to snap so that they could get extended for a few days. they would bunch people who all have problems with anger together like it was a good idea. fights would break out several times a week.

My nurse was the best! As soon as walking in the security and receptionist was polite . The doctor examined and treated me accordingly .Very clean! Less than two hours inside emergency room!

David DeArros

2 East unit is the best at Mental Health and they helped me so much I am so grateful I have so much gratitude for the staff the doctors and the social workers the techs and all the nurses.

Stephanie Quinones

Horrible hospital! I was 4 months pregnant and they didn’t even care about me and to remind you when your pregnant your extremely hungry all hours of the day and night so I ask for food at 2 am couldn’t offer me any food not even a snack horrible way to treat a pregnant women.

Very nice place. Most of the staff are there to help you. Very good groups fairly clean. Food is good. The doctor who does ECT is the best one around. Did my treatment for that here. Only ever was on the mood disorder unit. Biggest down fall no private rooms all rooms have three beds and as a trauma victim it's very hard to deal with that. Hopefully the new building will have some. Overall very nice place if u can handle have two other people in ur room and the best place to get ECT.

I remember being here when I was 18 and being degraded by a doctor. The staff were really rude and neglectful of patients that were severely psychotic...there were multiple areas of the building that reeked of urine. They always treated me nicely when my mom would visit but as soon as she left I felt unsafe, vulnerable and fearful because of the way I was treated and the way I saw others were treated. With patients who were severely psychotic they would make fun of them and were just rude. It was unbelievable. Everyone is human and deserves to be treated that way. Please, if you or your loved ones are going there be cautious. Have someone check on you or make sure to call in or physically go and check on your loved one. I just don't want the same thing that happened to me to happen to anyone else.

The food was absolutely disgusting. The psychiatrist were good as were most of the nursing staff. The techs and other staff were extremely lazy and did not want to do anything. They would often be sleeping and on their phones instead of working. Their attitudes were not proffesional. The place was unsanitary. My bathroom was often not cleaned and housekeeping were lazy as well.

I can't stress enough how much you should avoid placing your loved ones in the care of this horrific excuse for a hospital. My son (12) was placed here when he was in a bad way because there were no beds available at any other facility. It was his first hospitalization and he was terrified and hysterical. The staff were utterly devoid of compassion. They called him names. They fat-shamed him. When I questioned all of this after my son's first night, I was told the staff had a "tough love" approach. But that is nothing more than a blatant attempt to excuse the behavior of an unfit staff. They cursed at the children. They did nothing to stop other patients from verbal bullying or physical aggression. The staff did not get physical with my son directly but he reported they did with other children, even knocking down a disabled boy. They also got my son's meds wrong, or rather repeatedly omitted one, despite my insistence over several days. They didn't bother giving him the personal items we brought (even though they were allowed items). I confronted one of the nurses who had shamed him for crying and she gave me some B.S. excuse for her behavior and then gave me the silent treatment in order to end the conversation. It was beyond unacceptable. I could really go on and on. My troubled son left here after a week in far worse shape than he came in. He twitched like a PTSD survivor for days afterward. I believe the psychiatry staff to be well-meaning, but the staff on the unit floor had no business working with children, and especially not mentally unstable children. My son has since been hospitalized elsewhere, and several other children related that Belmont was the worst of every facility they'd been in. Aren't there accrediting organizations governing such facilities? This one ought to have its accreditation revoked.

I had an absolutely horrible experience at Belmont. I was placed on the unit 2 south while dealing with horrible depression and anxiety. Most of the girls on that unit had some serious behavior issues while I did not. I witnessed my roommate punching my other roommate in the head and people being stuck with needles to stop them from beating up staff. Some of the staff was nice, but most of the techs didn’t care about anything going on and just wanted to leave. I wouldn’t want anyone that I know in an environment like that. It is truly traumatizing, but I believe in some strange way it helped me. It made me realize how much better my life was when i’m not trapped in a place like that. It definitely increased my anxiety ,which was a serious struggle, but i’m learning to cope with everything now. I’m very grateful for my social worker(s) at Belmont. They were amazing and helped me to leave and actually cared about my wellbeing. I’m very sorry for anyone who has to stay there but I wish them the best after they leave. Thank you to some of the great who helped me with treatment at Belmont please continue to treat your patients with respect and care.

Horrible staff very unorganized loud mouthed the office intake area reeks of funk. Staff spent tims time talking about mice in the rest room a hour for staff to fine the papers to sign then waited to sign for meds. Then know one said i was done. They just left me in the office.Their were holes in the walls lound banging noises even walk shakes..

I'm a teacher, and I visited a student here who complained of being mocked by staff. A formal complaint was made, which I wrote up and presented, and the manager was informed, yet the student reported no follow up and was in fact further mocked during a bout of anxiety by said staff. This kind of behavior shows me this is NOT the kind of place a child in need should be sent, and it should in my view be avoided if possible. These kids are already vulnerable and do NOT need to be re-victimized by those supposedly in charge of helping to take care of them

I absolutely love this place! I love the outpatient side, everyone is so nice & always smiling which means a lot because people coming to this place are going through a lot! I have the BEST therapist in the world! I love her!! (Dr. Sakinala) Front desk staff are amazing especially Jenny! I recommend everyone come here!

Horrible place. Do not send your worst enemy here. The staff physically abuse the children in there. Then lie to the parent about everything. The staff here have stolen my daughter's clothes then told me I was lying and never dropped them off. The kitchen was disgusting, food still on the floor from 2 days before. The staff was very very rude as well. Please do not send your worst enemy here its that bad

Margaret Miller

My husband was sent there because he was suicidal . He was supposed to stay for six days at least . They released him after three days with no references to assist /support him in the future . He killed himself within a week . I frantically tried to get him help for days ,no support . My life is in ruins . He said it was dreadful there .

Skylar Walter

I just got out of here today and I hated how disrespectful the staff was and the food barely cooked and I only got 10 minutes on the phone to call my family and they are very self centered

Jeff Alexander

Unfortunately, my 14 year old daughter is there now. This place is horrible. Please do not allow your family to be transported there under any circumstance. #1 - At admission, they separated us and had her sign documents with out me present. This is allowed in Pa since consent is at the age of 14. The rules were not fully understood by my daughter who believed that she could say when she wants to leave. #2 - They did not have any history about her nor did they want me to provide it. I believe that this is rather critical in providing mental health care. Especially when you have had support from exceptional doctors at CHOP for the past 3 years. #3 - When we were finally able to talk to our daughter after about about 48 hours, we learned that they never provided her with her medication! This is absolutely astounding and borderline malpractice. Worse, we verbally told them the requirements at admission and we talked to the social worker at 24 hours. #4 - My daughter is terrified of needles. She requires a sedative and plenty of emotional support to get her through the process. Still, this is an ordeal for her. A social worker and a physician at Belmont were told this. It is in her records. No of that mattered. They drew blood with out her consent and no sedative provided. #5 - It took a day for them to figure out that we dropped off clothes for her. Those were only provided after she explicitly asked for them. #6 - After 36 hours, they have decided to change her diagnosis from one that was previously established over 3 years by extremely qualified doctors at Children’s Hospital. On top of that, they want to completely change her medications. See points #2 and #3 above. Again, this is extremely alarming. Many of you will read bad reviews about clinics. You may come to the conclusion that those who write them are former patients. The reviews may be foggy and come across as disgruntled. In this case, I am a very alarmed parent of a girl who needs help. I do not believe that this facility is helping her. Again, do not go there.

Gamertag BVQ

This place was pretty bad. The staff and patients there at the time weren't bad at all and were very nice and easy going. (I've heard at least one fight, but it was small.) My major gripe is that there are field mice running all around in this place and there is nothing to do to occupy your mind and you'll be stuck in you head for the most of it. (Which is bad for those who are suicidal.) I was also put in the wrong area the first few days I was there. After those few days of being on the schizophrenic unit they finally put me on the right side with the people who had the same problems I had at the time. (To an extent.) Anyways if I were to ever go back I'd say "Hell No" as it didn't help me at all with my problems. Personally it only made me want to conceal them more so I wouldn't have to go back to any of these "Mental Health" facilities ever again. P.S. I was there in December of 2018 and luckily got out on Christmas Eve.

Inv8derChris Doe

I was admitted early in the morning and they did their best to get me processed and helped quickly. Staff was very polite and helpful. There were a lot of group sessions and anything I needed they did their best help me with. At a time in my life when I really needed help; I am grateful that I had a staff available to me that was willing and capable. I see quite a few bad reviews here but that is not my experience. Thank you Belmont!

Ana Taylor

I'm reading all these 1 star reviews..and I'm questioning how someone can rate this hospital so low..I was there just a month ago and the staff was great. They were very supportive and caring. They really helped here, your treatment will only work if you put into it.

Sarah Robbins

So far I haven’t been admitted. I’ve been waiting for two days then they said there was a bed available. The intake doctor told me she was not being rude by rushing me but she was in a hurry and only wanted the brief over view. The waiting room opens up directly to the outside and it is freezing my thermometer says the temp is below 12 degrees and my fingers are litteraLly frozen. My phone will barely let me type. I came here voluntarily for treatment and I’m going on two days with out any help. They have girls under the age of 13 waiting in an unsupervised waiting room with grown men a bathroom that is never checked. All the while people are litteraLly freezing. For the the first time I’ve b en here I hours I was told I now have turn In My phone and I am wondering what’s surprised are I store. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for real help

I have been taking. My sibling to ECT treatment for 6 months now. These Dr's and tech assistant s have done more for him than any other Medical staff has in 20 years. This place was disgusting and the staff was rude. My 9 year old grandson was there, they didnt give him his meds and when they did it was the wrong meds. When we went to pick him up he was covered in bruises. They were so bad i had to take him to urgent care. It took about a week to get him feeling better. They have traumatized him for life. Do not go there.

I wish I could review their treatment, but I haven't even been able to get an appointment. I've called the outpatient referral number over a dozen times in the past two months. Turns out they don't actually have a receptionist for that line, just an answering machine. In theory they're supposed to call you back within 24 hours to schedule an intake appointment. In practice, I've gotten three or four voicemails 3-5 days after my messages (on days I specifically said I wouldn't be available during business hours due to my own work schedule), just telling me to call the same number again. The rest of my calls went completely unanswered. Eventually I tried calling the number for "urgent matters," and the receptionist there said they can't schedule outpatient appointments and forwarded me back to the same answering machine yet again. I've even left messages asking them to just schedule me for any time on one of my days off in the next month and if they call while I'm at work to leave a message telling me the date and time of the appointment. I just got the same canned message yet again telling me to call the number that doesn't connect to a real person. So I can't actually review their healthcare, but as somebody who works in a medical field myself, I can tell you that Belmont has 0-star scheduling service.

I like Belmont for their outpatient therapy. I go to the new building that was recently built and the doctors and staff are always friendly and professional. I would recommend this facility. The waitlist can be a bit of a wait though, but worth it if your not in a rush for outpatient Therapy. They have Therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist all in one, which makes it a plus!
