Dr. Ziyar is very nice, listening and understanding doctor. He did a very good assessment of me, he answered all my questions, I felt comfortable with him. His front disk secretary was very kind. I am hopeful to get better soon.

The only thing that is positive is he was able to write scrips for Saboxin He never ever counseled my son or nephew. He had them come back twice a month for 3 yrs. I went broke trying to help my son. The best addiction specialist in Fresno is Dr Mark Lasher. He gave my son hope help and got him clean. He was a God send

My first experience with Dr. Ziyar was in his clinic. I felt listened to, cared about and was worth something. He saved my life. He worked very hard with me for almost four years on my Bipolar 1, ADHD and Anxiety disorder. I am patient waiting a while in the waiting room because I know he is treating the people in front of me as he does me. Takes the time to be present in each appointment and it's not over until I'm clear and ready to go. There were times I had to see him days apart, weeks, and now months and I can call and get a response in times needed. I am now working in my own business as an ADHD and Bipolar Life coach and have been stable for over 2 years, focused and know what I need to do to manage my anxiety. I recommend him to anyone I know and they love him, too.

Dr. Ziyar is the cheapest private doctor for getting suboxone, this is a positive. I live in the foothills and cannot attend a suboxone program that requires daily attendence. I find both Dr. Ziyar and NP Gregg to be quite thourough and attentive with patients but I do have a problem with one aspect of his treatment methods; he uses money to motivate and unfortunately that comes across as greed. When the patient (myself) is struggling with severe financial problems, I find that using money as a motivation is actually kind of messed up. All appointments are $100 per visit after the initial assessment that is $200. What Dr. Ziyar will do is only perscribe 2 weeks worth of medication and tell the patient. "Oh this is an incentive to detox faster." This was very problematic for me because I could in no way afford two $100 visits per month. So I would cut my dose in half every time Dr. Ziyar did this. I believe this partially contributed to my last relapse because I forced to detox quicker then I was comfortable with due to financial reasons. When I brought this up with the doctor I was told this rule of only perscribing 15 strips at a time was based on some rule or regulation that was set by the state. But in my experience with 3 other doctors who perscribe suboxone, this wasnt the case, each of these other doctors were able to perscribe 30 days worth of medication regardless of the number of strips. During my first episode of suboxone treatment i was perscribed 12mg daily and would receive 30 days of medication that equated to 45 8mg strips and I never had a problem with the state and my doctor then had been in business for many years and is to this day. So, over all I like the care I receive but I think the doctor needs to reevaluate his perscribing practices.

Dr. Latif Ziyar is the best psychiatrist in the Central Valley. I’m from the Bay Area; upon moving to Fresno I felt apprehensive about seeking a new psychiatrist, especially since I know the medical systems work quite differently between counties. For a year or so I continued to drive to the bay once a month to see my old psychiatrist; however, once I sat in Dr. Ziyars office, my fears began to melt away. He takes the time to listen to the issues (the deep underlying issues-beneath all the surface emotions and triggers that brought me into his office). He’s highly intelligent yet humble-it’s apparent that he’s engaged with current/new research about psychiatry, the way the mind functions during/after trauma and it’s effects on the emotional body, and medications as well as side effects. He’s very transparent with his execution of care. This is a psychiatrist that I can honestly trust. I felt "seen" for the first time in years. He’s given me hope in a hopeless system made to function as such—I highly recommend Dr. Latif Ziyar to anyone who is seeking professional assistance with their mental health and well being. Thank you thank you thank you!

It has recently come to my attention that my identity has been stolen and a fictitious account has been established, bearing a very close version of my name, along with photos of me, in order to make to make comments on this site regarding Dr. Ziyar. As I have been a patient of Dr. Mark Giesbrecht, formerly with the same practice & only have seen Dr. Ziyar once, I can only attest to the outstanding care I received while with Dr. Giesbrecht. As a female and a former medical professional, myself, I do often times find myself having to "dumb down" in order not offend the many physicians I have had to do this with; which I find absolutely ludicrous. Dr. Giesbrecht always treated me with intellect & respect. I had sought him out in order to quit taking opiods, which I became dependent upon after a back injury; which I did, successfully. I believe I was able to do so w/ease because Dr. Giesbrecht did *NOT* attempt to pull me off all my meds at once, allowing me to keep taking my anxiety meds, which I do need, as well as my muscle relaxants and sleep meds. I did well for nearly a year, but, sadly, my back injury is worse than I thought; confirmed by my last EMG & after several months of discussion, I had to go back on the pain meds. However, Dr. Giesbrecht's assertion that I have a pain problem, not an addiction issue, has proven to be invaluable to me. I am able to finally accept my need for these types of meds in order to have any semblance of a life, as with out them, I lay virtually bedbound, failing to thrive. While I am still hopeful that a cure can be found for my condition, as I do not want the rest of my life to be dictated by a Rx pad, for now, my meds are essential for me to function & while I may be dependant due to the nature of such meds, I take solace in knowing that my addiction specialist's assessment of me proves that I am *not* an addict & for a former health care professional, this means the world to me! I thank Dr. Giesbrecht w/the utmost sincerity. As for Dr. Ziyar.. I cannot say, nor rate, as I, myself, have not seen him enough to do so. I just want to make it clear that I, Jackie Cross am not the same person as the impostor, Jaqi Cross. Apparently, I cannot post this unless I do a rating & as I only wish to make it clear, at this time, that I am not Jaqi Cross, I shall give an average rating so as to not throw off the real posts/rating scores.

Ziyar and his staff are very welcoming and patient. They go the extra mile to make sure your comfortable and happy with your treatment and scheduling. Also very flexible with appointments. Great Dr and staff

I feel that some of these reviews are a bit on the hard side. Dr Ziyar is very busy and he does see many patients, however I have found that he does listen and cares for his patients. I see his Nurse practitioner and he is great I am not ashamed to tell either one what is happening to me. I think if you have issues with the Dr, perhaps you should feel free to speak to him personally about it. As patients I believe it is our responsibility to do our home work on the physician you are seeing. I have issues that are hard to deal with however, they truly understand and are giving me the time I need. Thank you to Dr Ziyar, Gregg, and the receptionist. I appreciate your kindness and giving me the time to get my life back on tract. Victoria

After a few weeks I’ve decided to change my review. I made a quick ill mannered judgement call to post a 1 star rating two weeks ago. And since then I’ve decided that was an unfair rating. I give him 5 stars because he has truly helped me, even for someone who thinks they can beat their addiction on their own. And have had absolutely no trust or respect for doctors in the past, Dr Ziyar is actually a good doctor, and good person. Overall, if you are considering a Suboxone therapy, this doctor would be your best choice. But you have to be willing to make that change, and put some trust in a doctor for once. You won’t be disappointed. Addiction is a difficult disease, but I’m glad I have someone helping me conquer it.

I’ve been seeing Greg for a little over a year I believe. I saw Dr. Ziyar only once. He was very competent and engaged. Greg is quite attentive and concerned. He’s easy to talk to and has a friendly demeanor. I was just thinking yesterday after my appointment that I finally feel as though I’ve established a rapport with him. As in, a bit more of a connection. I’m quite silly so I try and entertain him sometimes. It may be working. Thank all of you for being there. Because I have had to call on occasion to get an appointment quickly. And they were always accommodating.

Dr. Ziyar is a good doctor, his staff are very helpful too. They helped me a lot, treating me well. I recommend him to anybody who needs help with mental issues and addiction.

Dr. Ziyar is our house psychiatrist at our residential care facility for the elderly. He has done a great job making sure our residents get the care and attention they need, in order to manage their symptoms of mental illness. He is quick to resolve any concerns we have related to our residents' mental health needs. He pays close attention to our residents' behaviors and symptoms, and is thorough is his assessments. He is easy to get in touch with, and his staff is very helpful. Dr. Ziyar has been our house doctor for many years and we are pleased with his service!

Michael .

By far the most incompetent psychiatric office and help in Fresno. 1. Dr. Latif Ziyar has no "bedside manner" so to speak. He is rude and is presumptuous with his diagnosis and doesn't respect your prior medical history. He only cares about what insurance you have - not your well-being. He often disregards what you are feeling entirely for his own opinion. 2. The front desk secretaries have no clue of what they are doing (including managing your appointments and not having enough communication with the doctor). DO NOT GO HERE

Michael Fernando

His bedside manner is impeccable, he wants to hear the root of your life’s stress so he can properly prescribe you what you need. He takes his time. He’s so kind that I’m always chocking back tears. But he also tells me when it’s not mental illness and just poor habits. Almost two years of seeing this doctor and we’re still working on myself. He hasn’t given up and nor will I. Thank you doctor.

Michael Qarabashi

Dr. Ziyar is a very good doctor, he helped me a lot when I had some family issue. I will recommend to any one who needs help.

K Ave

I didn't know what to think at first, but Dr. Ziyar turned out to be a very kind and understanding psychiatrist. Very helpful and always willing to work with me on my treatment. Never shut down my ideas, and would, at the very least, consider them, rather than brushing them off as negligible.

After seeing many doctors over 10 plus years, this guy is the worst and the only thing he would discuss is how my insurance company was going to pay him. He wanted me to give him $200 cash and when my insurance company would pay him he would credit me back. Very odd deal since he WAS 3rd on the list of referrals I had received from my ins company. He doesn't know his job or how to actually help people, no wonder why he has lost his license in the past. Stay away for your own good.

Ginger Dukes

Great doctors. Fast. Efficent. Very caring. Would recommend to anyone.

Joe Foster

This Dr. is a clown. I can not believe he still has his license. Probably because he is sponsored by the drug companies. He is too eager to put his pin to his pad and start prescribing. He does not listen and is very disrespectful. He is not a bad person, but not a good shrink by any means. I do understand he is great for methadone and other treatments for addicts as that is 90% of his waiting room. Probably because of the price.

Crystal V

I would highly recommend Dr. Greg. Appreciated the fact that he listened to me, and gave me an honest opinion. Looking forward my 3 week follow up!

Jerry Martin

I was very pleased with my overall experience. The facility is well kept. It was clean and organized. Everyone one was very friendly and nice. I will continue to come here. Thank you very much!

I am very grateful that Dr Ziyar is seeing me again! I was so overwhelmed without his care! But now I have hope and feel calm again just having his care! Thanks so much for everything!

Bonnie Ramirez

Dr Ziyar is a great psychiatrist in Fresno that will treat our developmentally disabled patients at Harmony Homes Inc. Some are very complex cases. Dr Ziyar & Greg NP are very flexible & helpful. The front office girl is great! My only complaint is they no longer take straight Medi-Cal.

Eli c.

This Dr is rude and condescending. He kept cutting me off when I would try to speak. I had to see him because my actual Dr moved away. This Dr said about twenty times that he is not like my other Dr, something I found both irrelevant and condescending. This Ziyar guy is an obnoxious jerk, and it took all my strength to not get in his face and let him have it.

Justin Martin

Dr Ziyar, is a very knowledgeable and caring physician. He spends his time thoroughly getting to know the patient, and listens to their needs. The office staff is very attentive, organized and efficient.

Abdollah Partovi

Dr. Ziyar is highly professional and very caring physician. I am the care provider for my father; he takes time to explain my dad’s medications, and has provided very useful ideas to us; Dr. Ziyar has also refered my dad to another health care provider in order to further confirm his illness. Thank you.

Philip Rodriguez

Thank you dr. Ziyar for helping my get through the suboxme program, and the nice secutary that helped a lot as well

Shayan Zoghi

Dr. Ziyar is an outstanding psychiatrist that I highly recommend to everyone. He spends his time thoroughly to get to know the patient well and caters to their needs. He is always thoughtful of their health in any manner possible to ensure they have the medical care necessary to live well. I am also a medical student and have observed Dr. Ziyar in his interaction with his patients. He is very kind, very thoughtful, and very engaged with each of his patients. I would recommend Dr. Ziyar to my family and all of my friends. He is an outstanding individual and a fantastic psychiatrist.

Stewart Lopez

Doctor helped me through tough times and was straight to the point in my evaluation. Easily approachable

Todd Johnson

Dr. Ziyar has helped me a great deal. I had to get my life back in order after a 6 year battle with prescription painkillers and other opiates. I was skeptical at first, but he listened to me, talked with me, and offered a new perspective on life and how I could live it without the drugs. He didn't just grab a prescription pad and begin writing, he discussed a plan of attack and a relapse prevention method, which has helped me a GREAT deal. Also, when I needed him fast his staff worked with me to get me in quick, understanding my situation at the time. His practice is professional and I would recommend him to anyone wanting to change their life. If you are reading this and currently are having addiction issues that seem hopeless....give him a call and go see him.....you will not be disappointed.

Went in on short notice because I felt myself slipping into a depressive episode. I called the morning of and was able to receive a cancellation appointment. I drove from Hanford. When I arrived I was told my the receptionist that the dr refused to see me because my insurance hadn’t paid any of my bills this was an issue that had been brought up last time and I had called my insurance and they said it was because of the way their billing department was billing the insurance and that I needed to contact them, so I tried several times. The lady I was trying to contact never called me back so I figured all was well since my insurance assured me my bills were being paid. The receptionist told me to hang out for a bit while she would attempt to get ahold of the billing department and so she could see what was going on. So I sat there and waited for an hour with my two young children. While I was sitting in the waiting room as Dr.Ziyar came in and out of his office I could hear him repeatedly tell the receptionist to tell me to go home because he didn’t see patients that didn’t pay their bills. After the hour I decided to call my insurance again to ensure that my bills were paid and they assured me yet again that they were. I asked if they could speak to the receptionist to let her know what was going on and when I went to hand my phone to her Dr. Ziyar just went off like a bomb yelling at me and screaming into my phone at the insurance company. I was mortified because everyone in the waiting room could hear him yelling at me. Keep in min that I was being seen because I was in an unstable state so this was very traumatic for me. He called his next patient and stormed off. I was left in tears. I really needed help and that’s what I drove there for. I received just about the opposite of that. After the Dr left I just told the receptionist that I would be leaving. I walked out to my car a sobbing mess and had to wait a while before driving myself home so I could somewhat compose myself. As I was loading my kids into the car a patient that was in the waiting room came out and asked me if I was ok and told me that I didn’t deserve what had just happened and she was right. I didn’t deserve the way that Dr.Ziyar treated me especially in my time of need when I was at my lowest. And especially when it was due to a billing matter that was out of my hands. I have since filed a complaint with the medical board against him and just warn others that Dr. Ziyar only thrives off of money and not for the well being of his patients. He is an awful short tempered egotistical man. I hope no one else goes through what I had to go through. Update: I just received an itemized statement of services received and can see that he has been charging my insurance company for services I have never received. He’s charged me for 60 minute therapy sessions on top of med therapy sessions when I never received any psychotherapy. He is a FRAUD!!! I can’t imagine how many more insurance companies he is scamming.

Treating drug addiction is only effective if the addict WANTS treatment I don't care who the doctor is...we have seen some who were labeled "the best". I've come to realize the key here is finding a doctor who doesn't give up and turn their back on the person because their so called "rules" were not followed according to protocol every time. An addict has no rules and seems to learn as they go through life experiences and connect with people like this doctor! And believe me, sometimes my son hasn't given him much to work with! Dr. Ziyar seems to understand one very important concept.....when someone comes asking for help there's always HOPE, and through this long extremely difficult journey we often find that those few people who have offered us hope when there was nowhere else to turn, are the ones that ultimately guided us change in the long run.

Unable to bill insurance correctly. Filed claims saying I did not meet deductible and won’t re-bill insurance. Met deductible 3 months ago and insurance bill from date they’re talking about shows my deductible is paying what they’re requesting.

I would give Dr. Ziyar a minus 1 if I could. This letter is a complaint against Dr. Latif Ziyar M.D., Psychiatrist. On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, I took my mother to see Dr. Latif Ziyar M.D. We arrived at 11:15 am, before the scheduled time of 11:30 am, to see Dr. Ziyar. A lady rushed in ahead of us and talked to the receptionist for quite a while. We over heard the receptionist say, “just wait, we will work you in even if you don’t have an appointment,” to the lady that had rushed in front to us. We let the receptionist know we were waiting for our appointment. There was another patient waiting in the office too. When it was our appointment time to see the doctor, the first patient that was waiting went in to see the doctor. Two people left and then the patient that had gone in left and the lady that had rushed in before us went in. She was with the Doctor for 10 to 15 minutes. Then he called us into his office. By then it was 40 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. He asked what he could do for us. We started to explain what was going on and what help we expected and he interrupted us and said He wanted to ask some questions. We started answering his questions and before my mom could finish her sentence, he said, “be quiet, I am dictating and it messes up the machine when you are talking.” Then he seemed upset and said “because you were late we have to do this quickly.” We said, “we were here prior to our scheduled appointment. He said, “I know. I saw you in the waiting room.” He still accused us of being late. A few minutes later he said that he is missing his lunch because of us. Being a retired nurse, I was shocked to think any professional medical person would say anything like that! He did not care what my mom’s problems were, he was more concerned for his own stomach than the problems my mom has been going through for the last 5 years. He did not listen to her and would cut her off in the middle of a sentence. He asked my mom how many children she had. She told him she had two living and one that had died at three months of age. He then started talking about himself and his family and how proud he was of his family. We are happy for him, but what does that have to do with the reason for this visit if you are out of time for my mom. He seemed very unprofessional and self-centered. He looked at his watch and said he had to go. But this is what he wanted my mom to do. He told her to take two drugs and then changed his mind about three times as to what Rx he is going to write. He did not explain to my mom what medication it was and why she should take it. I was confused and she was more than confused about what she was to do. We attempted to ask him questions, but he started out the door and said to trust him on what she needed to take. He had not spent enough time with her to know anything except what she was taking was no longer working for her. He said to come back to see him in 30 days and we could talk more then. We did not do that, we cancelled the appointment scheduled for mom and told the receptionist we were not happy with our appointment and the doctor was not what we had expected, nor did mom take the medication he had prescribed. We felt he was rude, very unprofessional and did not really give mom the best medication for her situation. We wonder how he can stay in business the way he talks to patients and the way he treats people. We do not recommend Dr. Ziyar.

I was there in the waiting room when Emily was at the window almost for an hour blocking others to check in. She was asked if she received checks from insurance, she hesitantly said yes a couple of them and said that she contacted the insurance and was told to void them and she did. In fact she may have cashed them instead of bringing them to Dr. Ziyar's office because it belong to Dr. Ziyar because he saw her and insurance send her the checks. I have not witnessed Dr. Ziyar yelling at patient.

Travis Abernathy

Dr.Ziyar is 100% the best physiatrist i know and 100% one of the top in his field. You can really tell he cares about his patients and he actually spends the time to listen to you and help you. If i could give him 10 stars i would and i would recommend him to anyone i know. If you are looking for a physiatrist then pick him! He’s awesome!
