After having been a patient for 7.5 years, I call today to find out when my next appointment is. I'm informed that I no showed on 10/17. I apologize and ask to reschedule. I'm told no, that right now I'm being discharged and that given my "history"--a handful of cancellations and now 2 no shows, the last 5 years ago--i'm being discharged. Wait. What?! She tells me that I was called 10/13, 14, 15, 16 (14/15 were the weekend) as reminders. I ask what the number was and she says "oh...501-something I don't know". I have one call on the 13th, re checked my voicemails...no voicemail. So I'm callously told by some woman, who didn't ID herself. That I'm losing my doctor. No letter. Nothing. And to top it off, she tells me that they're downgrading their caseload and that people who've been patients longer than she's worked there are being discharged. That they can't sustain their case load.
Talk about completely and utter unprofessional. I've worked in mental health before and never in a million years (a) have I seen someone discharged for ONE no show, there's generally a pattern and there's generally warnings and (b) you don't tell a patient that people are being discharged because you can't sustain your caseload.
The PRI is certainly not the PRI I signed up with 2010. Disappointment doesn't begin to describe how I've felt since this phone call.
