I had a positive experience at Desert Vista. They were there for me at a time when I had no insurance and couldn't afford to see a doctor. The co-payments were very reasonable, and they gave me samples of my medication because I couldn't afford it. They gave me paperwork to receive free meds directly from the company which made them since I qualified. Doctor Bahar Goldestan ( not sure if spelled correctly), was very caring, helpful and insightful. I referred a friend and they are helping him as well. This place was a real BLESSING for me!

I was here on an involuntary hold for two weeks, what i thought would be hell actually helped alot with my struggles. The techs on Unit 3 were amazing and extremely understanding.

I wish there was a zero star score. I will be taking this place to court as soon as I can. Someone needs to stop them from harming other innocent people.

I worked here through registry in the past and it's a very professional facility. Btw, Daisy Wilson is a spam/fake account that's review needs to be removed. This person has copied and pasted this same review on multiple behavioral health facilities. Obviously this person is against behavior health because you can find the same exact word for word review all over various facilities.

You barely see your doctor. They give you pills with bad side effects and make it harder to leave if you dont take them. The staff is allowed to sneak in a few punches when they gang up on you. Better check your staff. It takes hours to do simple tasks for these people.

Omg he's right somebody needs to call Geraldo quick!!

I was a patient here for 2 weeks in '14. The facility was as well as you can expect. The staff "at" the facility was first rate.

My son has been there since April this year. I love the staff there and they treat my son with respect. They understand his mental illness and help him with his coping skills. I do not like the lack of communication regarding his behaviors and physical. His social worker calls after various complaints regarding lack of communication about one out of five times.

The staff at desert vista got away with forcing scrubs on my brother, who was not talking at the time, who could not tell them without anything to write to let him dress himself. The staff also let the high risk patients pick at him and touch him in places men should not touch other men at. He reacted worse and worse to the point where he started throwing things and overreacting too anyone and everyone touching him and then they started heavily medicating him to the point where he was barely coherent, the doctors ended up giving him an antipsychotic called resperodon, he immediately screamed from immense pain and the staff kept giving him respirodal. The staff assumed he was faking until he slipped into a coma. It took my brother almost dying for the doctors to realize that my brother is part of %1 of the human population that has a lethal allergy to resperdon. My brother could have died, after he woke up from a month long coma he woke up in stages, the first stage was seeing the whites of his eyes while he slurred sentences my mother, brother and sister could not understand. The second stage was rapid eye movement and short mobility. The Third stage was nerve pain in his left leg that pain killers could not help, he screamed and screamed to the point where he could barely get any sleep for a month. It was all a sickness called Neural Malignant Syndrome. After all of the hell he went through, the techs, nurses and psych doctors were not brought up on charges, absolutely no one was held responsible. Anyone and everyone who loves the members of their family who need help in regards to their mental health DO NOT EVER SEND THEM TO DESERT VISTA THE STAFF THAT WORK THERE WILL DAMAGE THEM BEYOND ANY AND ALL RECOVERY, MAYBE EVEM KILL THEM.

I worked at this hospital for 2 years! I really enjoyed the hospital staff tremendously. They were caring, helpful and dedicated. It’s a hard place to be if you’re new to the behavioral health system, but the staff are there for any questions you may have. It always helps to have some clarity during yours or your loved ones darker times.

2016-05-10 Kelly Cain deceived me with a "sleeping pill" at roughly 0430 believed to be a risperidone. My medical records show no medication given except the percocet given 3 hours later I have TBI and wrongfully admitted due to false information. It has negatively effected my quality of life since ( 2.5 months later) and also can no longer use MMJ as i have depended for physical comfort for many years since.

My son has spent too much time in this facility. The first time they released him too soon and he ended up right back! The last time, the communication between the social worker/ doctor and us(the family) was poor!!!

Just spoke with Mike in intake. He took his time to understand my questions and provide detailed information on processes.

I am 14., and i was in Unit 2, for Suicide Attempt. I was so afraid to come to this place, and it was last minute at 1 am in the morning. It was the best experience someone could have, especially as a "child". The food is good. The staff is amazing, and always supportive, and always get you what you need. You have a roommate also the same age, and u can decorate your room as much as you like. Everyone was so welcoming, and supportive. I highly suggest you have your kid come here. By the way I was here for 6 days, and i went I went outside everyday. If anyone goes tell Ashley I say hello. BTW shes a patient,

It's hard to have a loved one sent there for many reasons. But thanks to their hard work and documentation of my loved one's behavior they got court order medication for my loved one. Quickly my loved one's behavior improved to be able to function and have a fulfilling life again. They always make you feel welcomed as a visitor even if getting your loved one to accept seeing you in the beginning can be a hassle since your loved one has to accept which with mental illness can be challenging but once you're in you're in for good and they'll be very comforting when something bad happens because of mental health issues. I've seen my loved one's behavior going from "each day is worse than the previous one" to "almost back to normal". Even when my loved one was violent with staff I witnessed very calm handling and very professional behavior. It couldn't have been done more calmly and tranquilizers were really used as last resort as the behavior was dangerous for self and others. Also they won't let my loved one just go back outside, there is a serious follow up which is very reassuring. I don't know how our family would have survived without this place, not only doctors, but also Social Workers and lawyers. They helped dealing with legal stuff and avoid a financial disaster for our family. I lack of words to say thank you.

If you want help for your loved one, don't go here. My brother was sent to Desert Vista via court-order after he attacked my mom and nearly broke down her door trying to get to her. A few days prior to that the cops had been called out to our home for another spout of domestic violence, aggravated assault, and vandalism. A few weeks before that the cops were called out because he tried to stab his friends with a knife. He has a long history of PDD and Bi-Polar syndrome. Desert Vista kept him for a week before they decided he didn't need to be there. Why? Because he told them he was Okay. He wasn't going to hurt himself or anyone else. And that was good enough for them. And, because the court ordered that my brother could not return to our parents' house for their protection and he has no friends, they kicked him out onto the streets. This is not the kind of place to send your child, sibling, or loved one if you truly want them to get the help they deserve. They flat out told my parents "We don't care."

These people forcefully injected me with a pharmaceutical that induced a heart attack. They are pushing drugs for #BigPharma. These state employees need to be sued for criminal negligence, attempted murder, threat and intimidation.

The doctors there are some of the best and go all out for the patients under their care. However, the general staff working there is another story and there's not enough space to explain it all. I'll share one of problems that really had my wife and I mad as heck. My daughter was taken there and coldly dropped off on a gurney by correctional officers from the Maricopa county jail. She was in terrible shape and on her last leg. She had been incarcerated there for over a year without being put before a judge and allowed to plea. She was never officially charged with a crime nor afforded the due process our fore fathers put in place under this country's constitution. This whole time we had no contact with her and all our attempts to do so failed. We were subsequently notified of her release by a social worker assigned there. We were requested to bring some cloths, toiletries and items such as books and drawing material to help occupy her time there. We brought a couple of large bags of these items the next day and turned them over to the appropriate staff members to inspect before giving them to our daughter. We visited almost every day there after for over a month that she was there. The following day we discovered she hadn't received the care package we brought her and were told it sometimes takes afew days to go through the process. For the next three to four weeks we inquired about these items Somme of which she still had not received. We were always given some weak excuse and told to be patient. I was fed up and began asking to see a list of their chain of command for names and phone numbers of management to file a report with. I never got anywhere and continued to get a run around. Some of the items began filtering down piece meal to her but she never got all of the items. Some of the new items were exchanged for used and worn items which really upset us. After reporting the matter to her social worker he looked in to it. He said that every one he talked to stated they knew nothing about it. That's pretty sad for this type of thing to go on at a place established to help those in bad need. It destroys the credibility of the place and carrys over effecting all the good and trusting employees who provide a good service and would never do anything like that. I still haven't gotten over that and other terrible things that happened to her. Let me be clear about this, the doctors and medical staff that worked with her were great and did alot of good helping our daughter receive proper medication and counseling to get her on a recovery program. To those dedicated professionals I'm truly grateful. To those low life's responsible for the in house theft you ought to be ashamed and you will be judged one day trust me.

I was here for I believe a month and a couple of weeks. All of the staff were very manipulative to my family and myself. I can't remember most of my days there because I was in a schizophrenia state. The staff drugged me up and I'd tell my mother once I was aware of everything that was going on in that place. They'll give you unnecessary drugs and unnecessarily force you down when they feel like it. They forced me a couple of times because I told my mother they want to keep giving me medication that wasn't for me. They told my mother I wasn't taking the medication that was "supposedly" meant for me. Which I knew the ones I would take daily. They would stop giving me my daily medication so they can call my mother and tell her I'm not taking it so they can force me. Bare in mind that my mother is full aware of good and bad people. She and my family are best that could have happened to me because they came almost every day. One of the doctors harrassed me and told me if my mother comes back that something is going to happen to me. I told my mother this once I was out the hospital. I also told her the doctor was pocking me extremely hard on my chest when I could barely move because of the medication. It took me about a year to have full strength, full body movements and to be able to talk. They drugged me up so bad that I couldn't do any of that. I was drooling every where I had gone and had the shakes. I thank God I'm out of that hell hole. Nobody belongs there and I pray every day that nothing happens to anyone that asked for help and was court ordered because the characters of the staff are dead inside. They have no heart and I do believe they are very bad people.

Miserable. The facility is run-down. Showers where you have to press a button over and over to use water. Food is depressing, there are no soda’s or chocolate bars and it’s cafeteria food. You are just a number in this place that they make money off of.

Better send Geraldo quick!! Desert Vista Behavioral Health is heavily involved a known domestic TERRORIST company that just got shut down. That company is Docu trak. Docu trak has several fronts including a chop shop and irrigation company that all lead to the same site.

I called to find out what was needed to start receiving treatment & what services they offered. When they answered the phone the lady didn't let me get 2 words out before transferring me to some one else. When my call was answered I said "Hi, I'm calling.." I heard him mumble something as he hung up the phone. I definitely will not be calling this place again, I can only imagine how people are treated in person. Desert Vista doesn't deserve the star rating I gave them.

Terrible place that doesn't know the 1st thing about mental or physical health. Do not recommend this hospital to anyone.

Lisa Jensen

Worst facility ever. My blood pressure went to 220 over 120 and they did nothing. The last day of my stay they gave me more blood pressure meds.

Courtney LaVelle

It was horrible. Its a holding cell for your 2 week stay and its no place to go for any real help.
