I've been seeing Dr. Purewal at Sahara Behavioral Health for nearly 15 years, if memory serves. Once I realized that I needed more care than what I was receiving, a close relative's glowing recommendation led me to Dr. Purewal's office—and before the end of my first appointment, I knew he was the practitioner I needed. His soft-spoken, even keel lends him an incredibly calming presence, and he truly cares about his patients. Despite his extraordinarily busy schedule—he sees patients at the office and does rounds at the hospital—Dr. Purewal remembers the most minute details of his patients' lives. He even remembers the particulars of my relatives' lives that have come up in various appointments, and will ask about them periodically. Due to the nature of the practice, crises are unfortunately not uncommon and cause delays; therefore, as other reviewers have mentioned, the wait after check-in is a bit lengthy. In my opinion, the quality of care I've received from Dr. Purewal is absolutely worth the wait. Additionally, the staff cuts down on needless waiting by offering on-the-spot appointments with immediately available practitioners to patients only in need of medication refills. Ultimately, I love this practice and trust them entirely with my care.

Busy and lack doctor patient time

The wait times are ridiculous but it’s all worth it to see Dr. Purewal. He is amazing and has changed my life.

I've been going here for about three years now, but I have never really felt comfortable here talking with the doctor, and every time we go we have to keep me out of school for the whole day because the wait time is horrendous. Its painful. IT feels like I go in, tell them an update, leave with three months worth of prescription and only go in when I need more, instead of going in for when I need to talk to someone.

Cindy Meyer

This place is always busy. I and my 2 children go here and seems we are more stable emotionally

Ian Stedman

The walls of the waiting room are covered with ugly printed signs with passive aggressive messages like "faxing forms is patients responsibility." And "No Rx refills over the phone." But I'm still waiting an hour after my scheduled appointment and I'm not sure why the five people behind the tinted glass haven't got this under control and they insist on seeing people in person.

Carrie Bear

I've been coming here for a few months. They are ALWAYS running late. I think they schedule your appointment time for a half hour later than the time they tell you because I always wait 30 minutes or more before I'm seen

Huda

I just went there for the first time today. This place is amazing, so organized, clean and neat. The staff is really nice and friendly. I saw Jon Martinson, he was wonderful, very understanding. I was really stressed out when I made my appointment, I left feeling like I just accomplished something big.

Kim Nicks

They have to fix the wait times. People wait 2 hrs to be seen here. They lost us before we were seen. Switching right after this refill.

Brianne Friend

I have been a patient for 15 years, and the office staff is Horrible!!!! Rude, uncaring, and not accommodating at all. They should all be fired and replaced with people who know they are dealing with people who have behavioral issues and can be sympathetic. If you can find another place to go, I recommend it. Purewal is a great doctor, but the staff..... Shame shame shame I'm not one to leave reviews, good or bad, but they finally pushed me enough. Beware

I was turned away because I wanted to talk to a Doctor about my situation. I thought I was there to discuss what would happen nect. All they kept pushing was the meds. They stated they didnt want to waste MY time. Then they complained to me that they didn't want to waste my deductible. I told them, I expected to pay and had the money. They would not even go through the visit because I didn't not EXPECT to need drugs. They turned me away unwilling to let me meet the doctor to make that evaluation, all supposedly for my benifit. They didn't want to do any evaluatuon. Unprofessional. They didn't want to talk. I was turned away.

My first time seeing a psychiatrist, I didn’t really know what to expect. Chris was very kind and patient. He listened to what I wanted and needed. I’ll definitely be seeking further treatment here.

All fun and dandy if you don't see the main Doctor. If your seeing a Dr. Purewal and your not his first appointment you will wait at least 90 minutes. So don't show up early, cause all you will do is wait longer. He overbooks to the max and also has patients at Aurora. Not a good doctor if you need to be seen ASAP. Even if you're a patient your looking at least 5 weeks for a led check appointment. It's too damn stressful you can get inpatient somewhere and get fixed way faster than waiting to see him. Receptionist can be a snot too.

It’s a doctors office so there’s a wait sometimes, but it depends on the doctor and their schedule. It’s cool and comfortable. Ample seating and the gals up front are accommodating in regards to calling in and re scheduling and adjusting. Doctors are nice but as the day wears on it wears on em like any gig.

Good doctors, but the front desk workers are unorganized and probably responsible for the long wait times. Just today I waited 15 minutes past my appointment time only to see my doctor call back a patient who had only just arrived! When I inquired at the front desk, the nurse said that I wasn't checked in, and asked if I'd signed in on the sheet. I assured her I had (she had seen me do it!), she muttered something about her accidentally throwing my sign in sheet away, and didn't even bother to apologize! Wonderful, right? If Dr. Ashram were not as good of a doctor, I would've found a better place a long time ago!

I have visited this location for many years. This office is clean, and organized. Folks are pretty friendly...even when I lost my cool at my last vist. That said the only reason I do not give them 5 stars is scheduling. Normally the perpetual running late office does nor faze me as I go after my work hrs. I completely understand the office specialty and it's implications regarding schedules. However, if at the first sign of 30min or more delay...give the patient the courtesy of a text with schedule delay. The patient is aware in advance and shows up anyway...or reschedules...

My Dr is good. Hard to find a good Psy Dr. But the front office staff is the worst. They have tinted front windows and will act like they dont see you. When I finally said hello I need assistance a lady stopped opened the window maybe 5 inches. I told her I arrived at 1105 for 1115 appointment when I tried to explain that a lady arrived around 1130 was just called back by my Dr the front office lady said theres one ahead of you and turned and walked away from me. Are you kidding me right now!!??? Like I saide Dr is good, but I will not be treated like a second class citizen because Im at a psychiatrist office. I realize you deal a lot with some SMI patients but that is not all of us. You shouldnt be treating anyone SMI or not as you did me today.

I tried everything to get rid of my depression. Still that dark cloud stood over my head. Fear to move forward in my life. Stuck thinking the only option was to collect social security, accept defeat, and throw away my college degrees. Then I met Kimberly Nelson at Doctor Purewals office. And instead of offering me another medication she suggested to me TMS therapy. That is when my life changed forever. I started TMS therapy and dedicated myself to have a total of 36 treatments. Around treatment #20 I started to feel whole again. That dark cloud drifted away. I started posting my resume and landed a job. My perspective of myself has changed. The treatment experience was amazing. PJ helped me through from start to finish. He was there at every appointment and he helped me through some of my challenges through the beginning of my treatments. He was so supportive and knowledgeable. I’m so thankful for his company. Doctor Purwal was right, after treatment things and circumstances seem to improve. Life is not perfect but I can simply accept what happens in a more positive way. Thank you to Sahara Behavioral Health and TMS, you changed my life!!! God Bless!!!

Dr. PUREWAL is not concerned about his patients. I was a patient of his for 16 years. When Dr. Pawar was sick,Dr.Purewal refused to see me. He does not care if you are suicidal or in crisis. His wait time is an hour and a half and his staff is very rude. He is very difficult to get an appointment with. You will wait a month or be passed off to one of his assistants. Avoid at all costs. This man devastated my life and got me addicted to xanax. He is very dangerous. He was a wonderful Dr.when he first started out.Now he has a huge business and is in it for the money. He doesn't care about the patients. He gives you a very fast 10 minute appointment and over medicates the hell out of you. Beware.

Allison Taets

Girls in the front office are very snotty. You think they would be a little nicer considering they work with mental health patients. I've been coming here for a few years now and have seen almost every dr here. the only one I can stand is Andrea Brunson. The others have no personality and just try to over medicate you and get upset when you disagree with them. (Kimberly Nelson) i also have to wait thirty minutes or more after my appointment time to be called back. They way over schedule here. I've tried switching offices multiple times but my insurance only covers select places and this is the closest one to my house and it's a forty minute drive for me.

bseaingu .

Terrible care. I was in a horrible abusive situation for years and they helped my abuser by keeping me drugged up without ever trying to discover the source of my anxiety and depression. I was didn't even see a doctor for almost eight years. I found a great psychologist, escaped my abusive relationship and have been healing and off of the horrible medications that made me ill for four years. If you want to get well, don't go here.

Vivian Carolina Barahona Cristancho

I started TMS around 2 months ago, PJ was the person who assisted me through the entire process, Dr. Purewal was there the first day of my assessment and I saw him for my follow ups. It has been quite a ride, the good thing about the experience is that I was never alone, PJ and Dr. Purewal were there for me, on my bad and good days, they were supportive, clear as far as the process and they were a big part of my healing. I will never forget the patience while I was struggling, I felt important and care for. I recommend if anyone is looking to start TMS to be confident that going to Sahara Behavioral will be the right choice.

Great clinic, and good doctors. I changed my insurance twice and dont have to change clinics or commute somwhere else! Highly recommended!!

Amanda Kelly

shawnika foulkes

Horrible Service, I spoke to the secretary and let her know I had different insurance, she repiled I can take care of upon visit. After driving 45 minutes away I find out this therapist doesn't accept United Health Care and I can pay $200or reschedule, no consideration.

Steve Pinette

Dr purewal is awful. My meds made me sick and i had been in hospital past two weeks Don't see him he will leave you very

Doctors here are good office staff is not! Office staff is rude. They need a new staff that actually enjoys their job. Happy employees treat clients better. These employees are not happy!

Just Music

This "practice" is far from professional and helpful. I have been seeing them for a year now and finally cant take the staff there any longer. As a previous comment said, they are all about the money and not about the patients well being. They change appointment dates or schedule you for an appointment you did not set up, then charge you for a fee on their mess up. Being a medical student myself, I can clearly see the lack of empathy and professionalism in not only the staff, but the especially "psychologists" themselves. Worst year of my life spent with this practice. Far from helpful by any means. My suggestion. Find another practice if you are seeking medical attention or help by any means.. The staff needs to go back to school and learn how to interact and care for their patients or just re-evaluate their career paths as a whole... As far as I've seen, the medical profession is NOT for them.

Pat Uszodi

i was about to write a negative review, but then i considered the fact that my negative perceptions of this facility are maybe not as grounded in reality as i had once thought. therefore, a five-star review is what i give. ashraf is a good doctor that seems to care. the staff is actually lovely. i do wish the wait times were a little shorter but what are ya gonna do?

Bailey Lacey

Ashley Nelson

I have been a patient here for the last 9 years. Purewal is the best!! He gets to know his patients inside and out to be able to not only observe even for a brief moment the manner of simple walk with automatically being able to tell without mentions yet how patient had been/is doing!! Dr. Purewal also is NOT a "watch checking" physician which are the best ones not to show or seem to just have you in and out as if he is trying to meet a quota!!! I do have to though rate a ZERO stars for every single one of the office staff being front and records departments as they are always in what seems to be a bad mood and as an outsider looking in myself as well as every other patient that walks through those front doors or makes a simple phone call are already being the background purpose of this physicality patients are there because they in one way or another need kind words and helpful attitudes!!

Nell Bell

Thanks to Dr. Gupe I am now coming out of nine years of darkness after the death of my only child, she was a 36 yr old great mom and I could not get past my pain, Kristy knew what I needed and proceeded with care and now I am back with the living and I can visist my daughter at the cemetary for the first time since she was laid to rest,

Rachel Koszegi Everyday Healthy Mama

If I could rate them a zero I would. The lack of compassion and care for the patient is ridiculous. It starts with the staff and continues with the doctors. Kristin Grupe is a sad example for her industry. Her lack of professionalism and care is sickening. I wouldn’t trust this office with my life, they clearly have little regard for anyone’s wellbeing.

Sandra Lynn Bainter-Strong

Professional staff, Physician Assistants, and knowledgeable Psychiatrists

Carol Baare

I've been a patient of Dr. Ashraf for many years. I've struggled with depression My whole life. I have had extreme panic attacks for 9 years. He is very kind and understanding. I've had to change my medication many times. Dr. Ashraf is a great Dr. He is very patient. I highly recommend him.

Dawn LeBlanc

Jon Martinson and staff are inept and rude!!! They couldn't care less about your mental health, they are ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. Jon does not listen to his patients, asks the most moronic questions and repeats them in the same session!! They wait till you show up for your next appt to tell you that you owe them over $150. I would've paid THREE months ago. Why are you waiting to spring it on me today. What a joke this place is! They will MAKE you suicidal.

Suzi Schor

My PA-C asks questions and when tears run down my face, she moves along. There's no therapy here...They are uneducated and the MD's don't have time for you! Run to an urgent care or ED if you're thinking if hurting yourself or others.... this bunch only cares about losing your payments, not your mental health!

Kailee Oines

Dr. Purewall is wonderful. However, the wait time is always 1 to 1.5 hours and the front office lady who checks in patients and takes co-pays is probably the most rude person I have ever interacted with. I was just told that “you can’t just come in 15 minutes late and expect to be seen on time.” Even though I would be sitting in the waiting room for an hour anyway. She proceeded to show no remorse, raise her voice at me and tell me I can leave if I’d prefer. Unfortunately I can’t just pick up and “leave” without being seen, as this appointment time and date is crucial bc I am 36 weeks pregnant.

RMDv8tor

This place is useless. They have terrible service up front and can't even write prescriptions correctly. The wait time for a simple refill is usually an hour minimum. Not once in the years I've gone here have they been on time with my appointments.

Michelle Matthews

Dr. Purewal is wonderful! When I was at my lowest, he helped me! He balanced me and continues to do so. I will not ever consider another Dr. he is wonderful! the staff is always friendly and helpful. I will always refer this place to anyone. Yes I agree the wait is always long, but he is busy, because he is a good Dr.
