They do ok but you can never get ahold of anyone and if you have an emergency concerning meds they prescribed and it's after hours there's no emergency line my wife has meds that she takes and needs every day but because insurance and the doctor's office don't seem to communicate she now can't get her meds till at least Monday because there doctor has to redo the prescription form and submit again this is a Friday we don't find out about this till we go to pick her meds up from the pharmacy which informs us about this and it's after the doctor's business hours because we both work so would be nice to have a number to call for emergency medication issues because the ER does not help

Pathetic! Called to make an appointment for my daughter and talk to a Medical assistant. He proceded to ask me some so called pre_screening questions to determine if they will accept her as a patient. He stated the medical director review the answers and I would get a call back that same day. Didn't happen. I called them a week later and talk to someone else. She didn't know why we weren't contacted but she would look into and call me back that same day. Didn't happen. Another week plus went by and I get a call front the first MA. He said the Medical Director reviewed questionaire and decided they could not see my daughter. I asked to speak to the Medical Director or set up an appointment with him so he can talk to my daughter in person and perform a real evaluation then make the determination. Was rudely told that will not happen. Asked to speak to his supervisor and was told that won't happen either. Since when is it good medical practice for a physician to base his decision on an evaluation given by a medical assistant. My daughter is receiving therapy from licensed therapist and needs a Psychiatrist to manage her meds. They refused to see her based on a medical assistants evaluation. Pathetic, irresponsible, and borderline Malpractice. This place should be investigated by CMS for its practices!

The office staff often makes me consider leaving this office and seeking treatment elsewhere. They told me they’d call me to schedule appointments and did not call for 4 months or bother to tell me my doctor at the time had left the practice. I have had multiple calls when I needed simple information or to immediately schedule an appointment and was put on hold for over 20 minutes. It is truly mind boggling that the staff at a mental health facility refuse to answer the phone and never call back in a timely manner. Both of my doctors have been very reassuring and helpful. I just wish there was a way to deal with them directly instead of getting ignored every time I call in.

My first psychiatrist here was extremely rude to me and unprofessional. She got my prescription wrong and then blamed me for her mistake. Luckily, I was able to get my prescription because she called the pharmacy and had a new one sent over. Later on, she moved to a different state and I was given a different psychiatrist at the same office. She was very nice but I had to wait two months to see her each time I've made an appointment. The first time, it was fine. She was very kind, receptive and I felt she really listened to me. The issue came when I went to make another appointment, after having my medication adjusted I was told I would need to wait 2 months to see her again. Which would have been fine, if my appointment wasn't cancelled without me being given notice. I only found out once I showed up for my appointment. They claimed that they called me ONCE, and were not able to leave a message. I had no record of being called and my voice mail has been set up for several years. There's no way that anyone made an attempt to inform me that my appointment had been cancelled. I think this is inexcusable. If I do not get my medication on time I could very well end up in the hospital. The only redeeming thing about this situation is that they gave me a prescription refill until my next appointment, which will also be a couple months wait.

While it is hard to get through the phone lines the doctors and staff are great. Dr. Naidoo is the best doctor and listens and engages with her patients. When I was in a psychiatric crisis and no other place would take me as a new patient they did.

Conflicting Information from Staff, Unprofessional Responses from Therapist. We were shopping for a talk therapist for our 12 year old child. While I didn't appreciate having to take a pre-screening interview before finding about their therapists, I went ahead and did it. I was clear on the phone that I was ONLY looking for a talk therapist, not a Psychiatrist. After waiting over a week for a "review" of the screening, with multiple calls (each 10 minutes or more on hold), I was told "The Psychiatrist does not want to see your child." When I explained I NEVER ASKED FOR A PSYCHIATRIST, the person got flustered and offered to make an appointment for the therapist we were interested in. I had to wait several weeks for an appointment (which is typical in the valley). I filled out all their paperwork online (That process was easy at least). The office said we would need to bring our child to the first appointment, which was odd. The day of the appointment, seconds before we were heading over, the office called to cancel for an emergency. Ok, people have lives, it happens. I then had to wait several more weeks for an initial appointment, which required taking my child out of school. When I mentioned this, the staff said that we were NOT supposed to take our child to the first appointment (conflicting information again). So we went to the first meeting alone, with all our child's diagnosis, paperwork, info on previous therapist, etc. Meeting seemed great, Therapist appeared receptive. She mentioned that we should not have been able to get an appointment with her because she doesn't see patients under 14. This is NOT MENTIONED ANYWHERE ONLINE or by the office staff. We were very clear about our child's age to the staff. She agreed to meet our child anyway, a good faith move on her part. Our child met with her, liked her right off. The Therapist said she would write up notes and get started on a plan for our 12 year old. We scheduled appointments, this time way ahead, planning for the best times we could get. Still, regular appointments were also several weeks out. Just days before the next appointment, I received a call from the staff stating that the Therapist felt our child should be seen by a Therapist in the same office as the Psychiatrist. This we had cleared stated to multiple people, including her was NOT AN OPTION with our insurance. I sat there stunned that we'd strung along for 5 weeks for nothing. If you're unwilling to take a patient, be a professional and state that. We would have accepted they were "not a good fit" had this occurred immediately after meeting our kid. Don't hide behind vague excuses, weeks into therapy with a under informed staffer sent to deliver them. It broke our child's trust and ours. You're in the business of helping troubled people, at least pretend patients are more than dollar signs.

Called recently to make an appointment as Desert Horizon is one of the few mental health providers in the Valley which accepts traditional Medicare. Was quite surprised when I was told I needed to answer some rather intrusive screening questions before they culd see if any of their psychiatrists would accept me as a patient. I really felt like I was auditioning for a part but went through with it because of the aforementioned scarcity of practitioners. Given that I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder decades ago and have been very stable on medication for years, I was shocked when I was informed their practice would not accept me. The reason they gave was even more shocking: my heavy drinking. During the phone screening, I mentioned that as a relatively observant Jew I drink a small amount of wine at the beginning of Shabbot (the kiddush) and a small amount at the closing of Shabbot (the Havdalah). Other than that, I may have a glass of wine on my birthday and on our anniversary, and that's it. If Desert Horizon is denying me care as a result of a ritual required by my religion, I hope they're doing the same to observant Catholics and to those Protestants who partake of wine during their Communion rite. Otherwise, I view this as a highly discriminatory practice.

Nancy is an AWESOME human being. I'd give her 5 stars if I could independently give different workers there ratings. She listens, is kind, remembers small details, and she actually sympathizes with your problems. She's amazing. Best of all, if you forget about your appointment with her, she literally calls you and asks if you're alright. I'm not kidding. She wants to make sure that you're okay and will let you come at any point during your appointment with her so you won't get an extra fee She ACTUALLY CARES. Dr. Patel, on the other hand. It's definitely accurate that the dude is only there and with his degree for money. He told me the wrong side affects for drugs that I was taking, prescribed multiple things that made me worse, and dropped me for being 15 minutes late to his appointments. I have every issue under the sun. OCD (Not prescribed with for WHATEVER reason, but it becomes pretty obvious that I have this issue when I have actual breakdowns if I step on a crack in the concrete and lock the door three times before I feel safe), ADHD, Anxiety, Mood Disorder (which he totally forgot to tell me that I have this problem), Depression, and multiple phobias (again not prescribed, but I've literally jumped off of buildings to get away from bugs and germs so like, obvious) and this dude COULD. NOT. CARE. LESS. Maybe other Psychiatrists are different, but I suggest not seeing this guy.

The 4 stars are for Dr Victor and Nancy Tinger. I cannot get ahold of anyone on the phone though and have been waiting 20 minutes to schedule appointments! Please answer the phones or give me a call back. When I leave a message I do not get called back and its getting frustrating..

I went thru the same pre-screening (fine), did the intake appointments for my daughter (fine) and an appointment with the child psychologist (very good). They then proceeded to schedule me for 4 additional appointments at the same time (okay). I lost my insurance and called to cancel all future appointments until the issue was resolved (my responsibility). Two months later I get a letter stating I owe $200 for 3 of the 4 missed appointments (not okay). They schedule 4 appointments at once but I can't cancel 4 at once? I was extremely clear on my message. I call the office and explain again to see if they would correct their mistake. No, sorry you have to pay $200 for our mistake. We don't take responsibility here. My recommendation, unless you have money to burn don't even schedule here. Calling does not ensure you will not be charged anyway. They obviously care more about the money than the patient as my daughter now will have to start at square one with another office going forward. Apparently they don't read their reviews well either... I clearly cancelled the appointments (all of them) - clearly called to have the charges removed - was clearly refused. I will call again if that is their answer, what else can I do? I couldn't afford the appointments with no insurance, clearly can't afford $200 as a non disclosed cancellation fee.

I switched to Desert Horizon Integrative Medicine when my regular therapist left at my old facility. My first appointment was back in July with Nancy Tinger. First impressions were she was nice. Of course the first appointment was basically an intake which the office did tell me before that I didn't need to do an intake. Either way, whatever. I've been to many offices for therapy and I have always done an intake first before making an appointment for therapy. PROS: The facility was nicer then any place that I've been to. CONS: Like stated, I've been to many therapist through out my life and I've always been diagnosed with the same thing. Never have I once ever thought that I was diagnosed. I actually agree to a T and believe its spot on. Nancy, as we went through the questions wasn't really agreeing with my diagnoses from my past doctors. She was trying to put it off as something else. So that made me uncomfortable. Then, what really helped me with my decision to leave this facility without getting a chance to do therapy was because I could barely get in to see her unless it was months away. I can't wait months to be seen. I understand that she gets booked fast, and there's a lot of people that need help. I just can't wait unfortunately. It's up to you to go here or not but, I couldn't wait months to be seen and I didn't like hearing that my diagnoses doesn't seem fit. When I saw her once and just was giving straight answers to the intake process.

The staff were warm and welcoming, the clinic was pretty & peaceful and it was easy to schedule. The clinic was right on time & the doctor was awesome! I will go again!

My wife is a patient there, and her doctor is wonderful. However the scheduling and phone service are horrendous. Every time we call in, we get stuck on hold for at least 20 minutes. When somebody finally answers, they hang up immediately. We have tried 5 times to get our daughter in for a pre screening, but it's impossible with the horrible front desk service.

Calling for two days, on hold for hours even though message kept repeating "my position is que is 1". Called all extensions, never got a real person. TERRIBLE customer service, did not use to be that way!

Melissa Bahaman is a wonderful doctor. Great to have someone that can do Well Woman Exams, Immunizations and Physicals for me and my children all in one place.

I was seeing Dr. Patel for 4 years who is a great person, and an even better psychiatrist. however one day he left to help the VA office, and I was assigned a random psychiatrist named Dr. Kafer. She ended up switching my medication which I was against, but I did take her recommendation and ended up with horrible side effects. Then I told her I flushed my kolozapam anxiety meds due to the fact they made me feel fearful. SHE THEN ACCUSED ME OF SELLING MY MEDS, AND REFUSED TO PRESCRIBE ME ANY ANXIETY MEDS AGAIN. I was so flabbergasted by her statement it had me break down into tears, and she didn’t show any signs of empathy. She was extremely aggressive, and rude. She is a horrible human and a horrible doctor.

Amanda Baker

They are not accepting new patients until January 2018!!! 4 months out! Don’t even bother calling.

John Svien

Their phone system is inoperative. I was left a message stating that my appointment was for June 5th at 10 PM. I try to call and was told that "your position in the queue ...fifty. Please stay on the line." When I call to make an appointment, I am stuck on the queue at number two.

Caitie Cunningham

They cancelled my appointment for today at noon, but didn't bother to tell me until I showed up to my appointment. I did receive a voicemail last Thursday offering me an appointment for the next day at noon, but the message did not advise that it was because my appointment for Monday was being cancelled. I had to schedule this appointment 3 weeks in advance, because they load up the counselors schedules with as many patients as possible with no regard to any of the treatment needs of the patients. To top it off my counselor Nancy Tinger keeps the volume of her cell phone on during sessions. It has rung during my session more than once during the 3 months I have been seeing her, and in my most recent session she received a text message and CHECKED IT while I was talking. With sessions only lasting 45 minutes it is absolutely unacceptable that the counselor cannot silence their phone during sessions and take calls and answer texts in the 15 minutes they get between clients every hour. Patient care and well-being is clearly the LAST priority here. Save your mental health by taking your money elsewhere.

I am so grateful that I found Desert Horizon. I was anxious about the setting of this office, since hospital-like environments make me uncomfortable. But over scheduling my initial appointment the receptionist verified it was more of a “homey” feeling. She set me up with a therapist that she believes would fit, and she did! Even though the phone wait can be long, that is the only con. Everyone there is extremely friendly and I have always felt comfortable. I recommend this facility to anyone who asks about my treatment!

Wonderful psychiatrist Dr. Irons is! Office is good about answering calls and handing urgent mental health situations. Dr. Is amazingly prompt and responsive to concerns. I think they overbook or have trouble with flow and keeping things organized. The office staff make a lot of mistakes hence the drop in 2 stars. I’ve had a lot of headaches for mistakes made in their behalf.

Awful doesn’t even begin to describe this place. The one good doctor they had left and no surprise. The reception is clueless, the screw up appointments repeatedly and then they bill you for missed appointments. Good luck talking to billing, they will take messages for the person in charge and “call you back” which never happens. There is human error and there is incompetence. I gave it a try even after reading the reviews. Well, people were not exaggerating.

Utter disgrace of a clinic. Avoid at all costs, especially Victoria Sanchez. She was by far the worst excuse of a professional I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. I will never return and will make sure my patients know to steer clear of here.

I am furious! Everytime I call no one answers. I leave a voicemail and no one gets back to me. My pharmacist sent a request for a prescription refill and they still haven't heard back so I have been without my medication for a week!!! Someone fix this!

Robin Jouett

Treat patients time as invaluable. Do not listen to scheduling needs and in general pretty rude.

Katarina Kearns

I was seeing a doctor at this establishment for about over a year just for an adderall prescription I needed. I paid a co-payment every time just to wait 20 mins to be seen, then once I got into his office, I sat for another 15-20 mins while he asked a couple of questions and typed on his computer, but mostly I sat in complete silence the majority of the time I had an appointment with him. A few months back I called and left a message (because of course, no one answered the phone) requesting to set up an appointment with a therapist. A week went by after leaving 2 more messages and NO ONE called me back about seeing a therapist. I called and left another message explaining how upsetting it is that I'm requesting to set up an appointment with a therapist which means more business for them and threatened to find a different doctor to go to...I should've just done that instead of threatening it.. So then I finally saw a therapist a couple times who was nice and all but she was not the right person to see for the specific problem I had, so over a message (yet again, because the phone was not answered) I cancelled all the upcoming appointments I had made with this therapist. I even requested to be called back once the message was received so I knew it was heard! I didn't get any calls back so I assumed they got it since I wasn't receiving any calls or letters in the mail about missing appointments. Then I had an appointment back in February I ended up cancelling via voicemail AGAIN and asked to be called back once the message was received just like the last time I requested (so I knew the message was heard!). Well, yet again, no call back, so I assumed again that all was fine. I start to run out of the medicine the doctor prescribes me so I called last week to make an appointment with my doctor to be told by the receptionist that my doctor CLOSED MY CASE because I 'NO-SHOWED' TO TOO MANY APPOINTMENTS. She then goes on to tell me that I also have several outstanding fees for all the 'no-show' appointments with the therapist MONTHS AGO!! NO ONE COULD HAVE CALLED ME TO INFORM ME OF THIS??? I was FUMING and explained as calmly as possible to her that this was NOT true that I missed my appointments and just didn't show up!! I had left MULTIPLE messages and even asked to have a call returned both times so I should have known they never got the messages but they obviously have a history of not calling their patients back! I told her this is ridiculous and I will NOT pay those fees since I DID call and cancel all of them well before the appointments approached! She told me she would contact the doctor and ask if he would reopen my case to see me again but the next day she called me back and left a message saying the doctor would not be reopening my case. I literally never leave reviews for anything but after all this B.S. I definitely felt the need to. This establishment certainly does not act professional when it comes to following up with their patients and LISTENING TO THEIR DAMN VOICEMAIL MACHINE. It is NOT my fault that YOU people didn't hear my messages and now I'm the one without a doctor and my medicine. I am not pleased with this place at all and at this point, I'm HAPPY to go find a different doctor and services elsewhere!

I would not wish these people on anybody.

Fairly good psych. Office.

Front desk staff need training in how to treat patients as humans not as dollar signs. I suggest some counseling for the "kiosk" like personalities at the front desk.

KP Peterson

Unable to get a hold of anyone for 20+ minutes, No system to email/txt/call to verify appts., very procedural to get you out fast$, call you back for an appointment? They don't even schedule you while you are there and they cant schedule you for 50 days! I should have headed the signs when they lost their best doctor. My child deserves better.

wendalynne o

I came in to see dr Keiffer or however you spell that, and when I disagreed with her diagnosis, I came in to discuss it with her. She was very rude, and would not let me speak at all. She was too condescending and defensive to carry a conversation with me after she knew that i disagreed. I came in to legitimately discuss her diagnosis, calmly. I have no problem getting help, but i will not just get put on drugs without a thorough explanation, maybe some follow up sessions, and a 2nd opinion. This is my mental health, not a common cold. I wish she had just been willing to listen, then explain calmly, rather than going off on me like a child. I won’t come back to her anymore, even if it turns out she was right.
