I came in for a consultation with Daniel Downey earlier this year. Daniel seemed like a nice guy during the consultation and looking at what we were thinking of doing he said we shouldn't go through with it. Our meeting maybe lasted almost 10 minutes and on the way out he asked if I had paid any copay when I came in. I hadn't and he said that's fine since there would be no charge. He even walked me out to the lobby to tell the front desk gal to not take any payment. Couple of months later I received a bill with a charge for $180. I immediately called them and was assured that it was a billing department mistake. A month later I get another bill plus interest. After another phone call to dr. Downey's office I got another apology. A few minutes later they call me back insisting that Dr. Downey never said there was no charge! I couldn't believe it, the man had walked out of his office with me and said in front of his staff there would be no charge. I would steer clear of this office and Daniel Downey if I was you. I'm very happy that I hadn't done the procedure with this man since it is obvious he has no morals and conscience. Don't let his nice guy act fool you.

Dr. Downey walked me through every option based on the MOHS surgery I was having in the coming month. He was informative, kind and he took time to answer every question I had. Post surgery he was available to answer a question I had. Dr. Downey was exemplary.

Dan Downey, MD made a very serious mistake in my surgery from which I nearly died. I came to him with old silicone implants which were very symptomatic with pain and swelling on my ribs, asking for removal. I paid for removal of implants and capsules and surgery was carried out in April of 2016. Despite my requests, the capsules were not removed with Dr. Downey declaring that it was medically unnecessary to remove the scar capsules as they were "thin and pliable." Within a few weeks, I got much sicker and the breasts swelled greatly. I lost 20 pounds, had fever and chills and was examined and it was found that both implant capsules which he had left behind were filled with seromas. The thick swollen lumps which he had ignored on my chest were also seromas and my lymph nodes were filled with silicone and greatly inflamed. I had told him about all of these symptoms before surgery but he had completely ignored all warning signs, left all disease in me and did not even biopsy it and completely lied to me, claiming I had been in "excellent health" and therefore, no diagnostics and thorough explant were done. I was very seriously ill after his surgery and went to the Cleveland to the Feng Clinic and they literally saved my life after this gross malpractice by Downey. Dr. Lu-Jean Feng involved diagnosticians of the Cleveland Clinic and removed all capsule tissues, seromas and disease Downey had left inside of me. Both she and the radiologist confirmed that Downey had not even cleaned up the spilled silicone from my body as they removed it and cleaned up behind his disaster. Dr. Lu-Jean Feng in Cleveland is a world-renowned plastic surgeon who cleaned up this disaster after Downey operated on me and left this dangerous condition without attempts of diagnosing or removing the disease. Dr. Feng literally saved my life. She found an oncogenic systemic mastocytosis directly growing out of the implant capsules amid the pools of free silicone he had left in my body. This disease was wide-spread and causing my symptoms and would have been discovered by any diligent surgeon because it was very obvious that something was very wrong per Dr. Feng who cleaned up behind Downey in several hours of surgery later. Dr. Feng states that the capsules were extremely thick, scarred and inflamed and not at all "thin and pliable" as Downey had claimed and that it had obviously been that way for many years. Downey already ignored what I said about the many symptoms I had and additionally lied to me, stating he had not removed the capsules because they were fine, had no disease. Dr. Feng states they were the worst in her career and it was clear that this was present and obvious a the time of Downey explant but he either does not have the diagnostic skills or did not care to remove and biopsy this. My husband is a physician and was with me as witness when Downey lied to me about my condition after surgery. Downey prior to surgery had been warned that I was very ill and it was coming from the swollen breasts and these swollen ribs which turned out to be seromas and that is why I wanted to explant in the first place. Incredibly, despite all this obvious disease he left in me, he never sent the implants to pathology and never biopsied the obviously diseased tissues and ignored the seromas, all warning signs that there was a likely cancerous condition. Dr. Feng and the Cleveland Clinic had to do a lot of serious rescue work after this Downey disaster and I believe the Cleveland Clinic a lot more than the statements of Downey and according to the info they gave me, it was impossibly to miss the condition and Downey was very careless and very untruthful in what he told me about my condition. I nearly died after surgery with this man and it took the diagnostics and surgical expertise of Feng Clinic and Cleveland Clinic to save my life. Dr. Feng will confirm these facts.

I was surprised by other reviews. I have seen Dr. Downey several times for reconstructive facial surgery and have always been extremely impressed by his obvious skill, as well as how he runs his office. In fact, I recently commented to a physician friend of mine, that Dr. Downey was possibly the very best physician I had been treated by. My husband was also a patient of his for reconstructive nasal surgery, and was likewise very pleased.

Rude office staff, no customer service at all. Waiting 45 in minutes and still not called back for a consultation. Don't waste your time.

I would never recommend Dr. Dan Downey to anyone. My first appointment which I was referred to him by a a dermatologist as I had a MOHS procedure done. Came back skin cancer. It was on the rim of my nose. During my consult which I was sent over to his office early the following morning. I had never heard of Dr Downey before. He was very nice at the time of the initial consult. I had no choice or no time to get another opinion as I had an open wound from the day before with packing in there. He said prior to to doing the procedure with my husband present it would look great afterwards. Well it doesn't look great. I have a bump on the end of my nose on the rim. My last and final follow up appointment Dr Downey was very arrogant and actually asked my what do I want. Really...Seriously ? Who is the doctor here? Please if you are considering having Dr. Dan Downey doing ANY repair work or plastics worked done on your face please get a second opinion. I DO Not recommend Dr. Dan Downey.
