January 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. I worked with a nurse navigator who educated me about the DIEP Flap procedure and Dr. Oscar Ochoa with PRMA. PRMA is the only practice in San Antonio doing this procedure. One year later I am over the hardest part of my battle and I am in full recovery. I feel very good about the progress I have made. I have nothing but excellent reviews to say about Dr. Ochoa and the procedure. I rid my body of my cancer, have perky new breasts and a tummy tuck. With Dr. Ochoa at PRMA there is a silver lining to this journey with breast cancer. It is definitely worth a consultation.

I have not had any interaction with this Surgeon or anyone at his office. I anm posting in response to the negative review from "Leonor Dean". I am actually doing my research on here so that i can select someone for myself. I work in the medical field and I am in nursing school. I have been reading reviews all morning (shh..dont tell my boss) and there is not a lot of bad reviews for several of these surgeons I have been looking at, well so when i came acroos the negative one on here, i was interested. I thinking finally a real review, cause not all reviews should be perfect. Reading that review from Leonor Dean had me smh. Working along side Orthopedic surgeons I knew why her weight was an issue. ANY surgery is a risk! ANY surgery that requires anesthesia is a risk! ANY procedure that requires things being stuck in you, or altered is a risk! Overweight ppl have a higher risks. If I was STILL over weight, I would have an chance of running into complications. Overweight ppl hearts worker harder to adjust to things like trauma, surgery, exercise. their whole body works harder to adjust, therefore increasing a risk for compliactions. I am sorry for that lady if they did not explain it to her that way. It really is for her safety. And to protect any doctors reputation. Also, kuddos to that group that did not take her money knowing she had increase risks for complications. I have lost 20 lbs while looking for a doc for me and I was not even overweight ..well in my eyes... The only reason why I started to get in shape is because I read that after surgery I would not be able to do much physical exercise. I didnt want to have new breast but gained even more pounds cause not being able to exercise. Anyways, i hope this post eases that ladies mind and I am really hoping that other looking for surgeons take those factors into consideration when selecting a doc. Happy hunting y'all P.S I typed real basic and used simple terms on this post because that I speak to my patients.

PRMA has a wonderful group of receptionist and fabulous nursing staff. I had a good experience with ancillary help. My plastic surgeon was very pleasant and cordial; however he was not really listening to my requests. I recommended to have smaller breast after diagnosis of early breast cancer. He was very insistent on keeping my breast the same size as what I had; whether he wanting me to return to reduce my breast, I am unsure. My Primary Care also was upset that he placed my areola back since my cancer was tubular. My breasts are very heavy now and I was not informed that my breast feel so unreal. Now I will worry if the cancer will return in the next few years. My sister has recently died of stage 4 breast. I also had 2 severe infections after each surgery, which took my recovery longer due to MRSA. I am also a nurse so I may be colonized however I would think knowing this I would receive Vancomycin prior to surgery. Would I refer them, I am not sure. I did not meet the other surgeons.

Amazing results from a great surgeon and his staff. My initial reconstruction was over 15 years ago and I needed a tune-up. Although I had heard of the improvements to the reconstruction process, I did not think these changes would benefit me. My thinking was incorrect. I made an appointment with Dr. Nastala who did the original reconstruction, explained my concerns, and he discussed with me his idea for the revision. I am 11 days post-op and can see the amazing results already. I guess being a 52 yr old breast cancer survivor was below Dr. Steven Pisano. He wasn't my first choice and he made it clear he was insulted. That should have been my clue to leave.I went in for my first revision in 19 years. I still want to feel good about myself. I just wanted to even up one breast that had started to set lower than the other. After the surgery I couldn't tell much difference so I thought to give it time to settle. It had been made clear I would only be allowed 1 revision. So I waited. Now it has been 2 years and my only chance was waisted. My before pictures and pictures even today are about the same. I know l shouldn't be so vain at my age but this was for me.

Words cannot express my love for everyone at PRMA. From my very first contact with PRMA, they took the fear out of the steps ahead. I am a BRCA1 carrier and chose to have a prophylactic double mastectomy with one-step reconstruction using Alloderm. I was referred to Dr. Peter Ledoux by a friend when I was having a lot of pain from Keloid scar tissue from a previous Breast Reduction preformed by another plastic surgeon. I was actually very nervous about going to a male doctor for my breasts, but I felt comfortable and reassured after meeting him. I knew I had the right doctor this time. He and his staff also assisted in getting my insurance involved (my original surgery wasn’t covered because I chose not to have another 200-300 grams taken off, making me too small for my body type). I also went into surgery feeling relaxed because he asked to pray with me and my husband before we went in! This is something I personally loved hearing! I’m currently 8 weeks out from surgery and my scars look and feel fantastic. We have our fingers crossed they stay this way. I’m being extremely careful and doing everything he is telling me to do. If I ever decide to do any future plastic surgery, either medically necessary or by choice, I would most definitely contact PRMA and Dr. Ledoux! Thank you Dr. Ledoux for making my breasts beautiful!

Everything from scheduling, financials, and consulting, through the surgery and follow up care has exceeded my expectations, providing me with the confidence that I've had the best care available. My wife and I cannot possibly say enough wonderful things about the PRMA staff and Dr. Minas Chrysopoulo. Breast Cancer is scary enough with having chemo and surgery -- but finding out that you are a genetic marker carrier (BRCA1) and need a double-mastectomy/reconstruction makes it an even heavier burden to bear. Having done a lot of research into mastectomies, reconstruction, direct-to-implant and other surgeries, we found the DIEP Flap procedure which looked like an amazing solution for her. Researching literally dozens of hospitals and clinics around America we didn't find that many surgeons that even performed the DIEP Flap procedure - and even fewer that produced good aesthetic results. In fact, some of the post op "After" pictures were pretty bad. Continued research led us to PRMA and to Dr. Chrysopoulo specifically. His patient reviews and post-op pictures looked not just good, but EXCELLENT. We traveled to San Antonio (from Colorado) to consult with him and the staff and it was a wonderful experience. Dr. Chrysopoulo truly cares about his patients and he made time to ensure that my wife (and I) fully understood the procedure, the recovery, cancer mitigation, etc. He was very kind as well as informative and he always provided answers to our questions until we were fully satisfied and comfortable with the procedure. I traveled from Kansas and Dr. Arishta completed my DIEP procedure. For a working Mom that was worn out from chemo, radiation and things gone wrong for 15 months of breast cancer, Dr. Arishta was able to make me feel like I wasn't the patient and that we were going to fix what cancer had ruined! He made sure he handled every concern I had no matter how small! With both phase 1 and phase 2, he took notes on small issues that made me unhappy even though they were so insignificant compared to the huge surgery he was doing! My follow-up visit came with questions related to how he handled my concerns! I woke up from phase1 instantly knowing the cording had been removed from under my arm and an annoying stitch from my mastectomy had been taken out! Both pretty minor compared to the overall diep but nonetheless issues that were big to me. In addition he always kept in mind that I had traveled a long distance and had three boys at home. I was so appreciative that he was always ready to let me get home!

I am a larger BMI woman, so my surgeon did not offer me DIEP FLAP and tried to discourage me from it. I am sort of stubborn, so I pursued PRMA and I was glad I did. I have been cancer free for 12 years now. Because of complications and other unforeseen circumstances my reconstruction was never completed as planned. I was not happy with my reconstruction as it was not done right. Years went by and I moved to San Antonio and I was referred to Dr. Ledoux.
