Dr. Whitfield and his staff members are very professional, kind, concerned and courteous. I enjoy getting to be around them all. I have read online reviews that say Dr. Whitfield does not prescribe pain medicine for the management of post-surgical pain, which is simply not the case. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Whitfield's heart for his patients. Dr. Whitfield was even concerned enough to take the time to get me connected with a physical therapist whom he felt certain could help me with the ongoing hip pain I have had since two hip replacement surgeries eight years ago!

I’m a three-year breast cancer survivor. Had bilateral mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction. Both of my surgeons did excellent work: Brant Victor, my general surgeon, and Rob Whitfield, my reconstruction surgeon. IMHO, aftercare is as important as the surgery itself. Dr. Whitfield had certain expectations of me as a patient in recovery from major surgery, as well as a cancer patient preparing for chemo. He did everything he could to see that I was well taken care of; I did everything he asked of me in taking care of wounds, looking for problems, taking medication. My recovery was easier, less painful, and less stressful. Dr. Whitfield is a knowledgeable and skilled surgeon. I’m glad to have been his patient—I knew I was in good hands—and should a need arise, I’d return to him in a heartbeat.

So glad I kept going until I found Dr. Whitfield! My breast cancer journey started in Oct/2016, I did chemo followed by a bilateral mastectomy. I was not pleased with the surgeon who placed my expanders in. So I started to look around. Dr. Whitfield was my 4th consult. I knew right away after meeting with him that he would be the next surgeon on my path to feeling whole again. He has been upfront and honest about what he can do for me, he is caring and pretty damn on top of things. Although complications with infection followed you never gave up on me and you and your staff have always made me feel I was your only patient! Week after week I met with you as you diligently gave your time and expertise to cure me! After chemo, when more complications came, you dedicated so much time and energy to making me well. You didn't have to do so much for me but did so with a smile and genuine concern every week. Okay, so after much thought, I've come up with two stars. I appreciate Dr. Whitfield taking my implants out, as they were literally killing me (Breast Implant Illness and no insurance). Unfortunately, that is all of the good I can list here. To make a long story short, Dr. Whitfield lost my implants at the surgery center. I was under the impression that I would get to see the toxic bags that caused me so much pain and sickness for 5 years; I thought my doctor understood Breast Implant Illness (and how we need to see the implants after removal for closure), amongst other reasons I'll list below. When I asked to see them, Dr. Whitfield got out his cell phone and proceeded to find a picture for me, but said he needed to get ahold of someone as to their location. ...And he never contacted me again. I called him one more time to ask about the implants and he told me that he would "get back to me." This is now twice I asked him about the whereabouts of my property, with no answer. Needless to say I was devastated after my surgery by how I was treated (or not treated); not to mention he had apparent difficulty removing my implants and my breasts are very uneven. However, that part I can live with. What I cannot live with is being treated like I don't matter, and being lied to. If you forgot to save them after surgery, or threw them away just TELL ME. Don't pretend you're investigating their whereabouts and then just avoid me...because of course I'm going to have to tell people. For the people that are wondering why someone would want their implants back, I have 3 reasons. 1. Implant manufacturers will buy them back from you after removal as a way to keep you quiet. They pay over 2 grand for a pair. I could have used that money to rest longer and not have return to work as soon as I did. 2. If I chose not to sell back the implants, I could have kept my property for a class action lawsuit, which is in the makings in one of the Breast Implant Illness groups I'm a part of. 3. They're my property. What I choose to do with two toxic bags that nearly killed me should be MY choice and mine alone. Anyways, I gave two stars because I did appreciate him removing them; I probably wouldn't be alive if the implants were still in my body. I just hope he can learn to be more honest with his patients. UPDATE: After Dr. Whitfield messaged me on Facebook messenger, I've changed my review to one star. He offered me money to take down my reviews and to make the situation right (after reading the conversation I hope he didn't just mean for the reviews because that would be dishonest and hardly sufficient for this huge oversight) and when I told him how much I would need to be reimbursed for the surgery and to take down the reviews he refused to work with me. As I'm obviously all about honesty, and you've made it this far in my review, I'm just going to give you the details. My total loss is 8k+. Between surgery cost, and the buy-back (reason #2) that I would have most likely chosen, I asked for 10k to cover my loss and to remove the numerous reviews I have written and was planning on writing. Not to mention the 25 screenshots I have of our conversation and his proposal to shut me up. In the conversation, he only agrees to pay for the 2500 for implant buy-back OR his surgery fee (3k). Which, to me, is absolutely insulting. Especially when his entire motivation (as you can see from the screenshots) is for me to delete all of my honest reviews. I'd like to think he actually wants to reimburse me for the money I wasted, but I highly doubt that's true after reading the conversation again. Like I said before, I'm very glad he has great reviews and he has helped many people get better. Had AccuTite with liposuction on my neck area about 2 months ago and can tell a dramatic difference in the skin elasticity . The skin is definitely tightening and firming. I am 60 now and people are amazed and always tell me I do not look my age. Everyone ages as we get older, but we have the ability to look younger and to feel confident and happy with ourselves. Dr. Whitfield has done that for me and he can do this for you! Recommend highly.

Altering something as prominent as my nose was a huge decision for me. When I finally decided to undergo the procedure Dr. Whitfiled was my first and only choice. His reputation as a skilled and talentd surgeon combined with the extensive consult and patient referrals from his office only gave me further confidence in choosing him as my surgeon. From start to finish Dr. Whitfield was professional, responsive, caring and took time to explain everything to me. When I had questions he responded to me personally. I never felt like anything other than as if I was his only patient. My rhinoplasty turned out beautifully. I couldn’t be happier with the results. The shape, slope and size of my nose are everything we discussed beforehand. My surgery itself went well with Dr. Whitfield being there before I was put under anesthesia and there immediately after when I was coming out. He called me at home after discharge to make sure I was doing well and always made himself available to me when I had questions. Undergoing this procedure not only changed me physically but emotionally as well. I’m no longer self conscious about how I look and feel much more confident when presenting at work and in other social settings. My nose looks so natural that people are often surprised to find out that I had a rhinoplasty done. To me, there could be no better compliment than that to pay Dr. Whitfiled.

After my initial meeting on Dec 8, 2017 with Dr. Whitfield, I knew he was the right surgeon to remove my 25 yr old silicon implants. He was well versed on the importance of proper Implant Removal / Capsulectomy. At the time I knew one was ruptured and during surgery he discovered they were both ruptured, which made the surgery more complex because there was a lot of toxic matter that had to be scrapped from my breast. I also had many concerns about the surgery because I take blood thinner. He patiently answered all of my questions and also contacted my hematologist. Dr. Whitfield also took into consideration that I was eager to have my implants removed ASAP. During my consultation he personally made a phone call to the surgical center and rearranged his schedule to make it possible for me to have surgery Dec 29, 2017, a day that worked best for me. Dr. Whitfield and I discussed giving the implants back to me after surgery, which was very important to me. He made sure to inform the surgical staff of my special request as it is not protocol to give implants back to patients. I almost forgot them because there was so much going on during the discharge. After the surgery Dr. Whitfield made a point to call me everyday over the holiday weekend including New Year's Day, which I thought was going above and beyond. During the whole process not once did I feel that I made the wrong choice and I am very pleased that I took the referral from another patient of his. Dr Whitfield is a very kind and considerate person. He genuinely cares about the best outcome for his patients. Thank you Dr. Whitfield and his team. Happy New Year 2018!!

If I could give 10 stars- I would! I drove over 500 miles to have Dr Whitfield do my recon.surgery. I had BC and a double mastectomy 3/1/17 and then lymph nodes taken out 3/12/17 , here in Jxn, MS. I did not have the recon. surgery immediately because I knew I didn't want implants and not much else was available here. I drove to Austin and Dr Whitfield did the DIEP flap surgery 7/21/17 and then did my nipples 12/12/17. They look amazing! He cares so much about his patients. He has always been available for my call or text. Thank you Dr. Whitfield for what you've done for me. You have given me such a gift and I can never thank you enough.

I had an explant with Dr Whitfield. I was very nervous about how much downtime I would need and how bad the pain was going to be. Dr Whitfield prescribed the perfect combination of medication to keep inflammation and pain and a minimum. My surgery was in the morning and that day I was a little sore. The next day after surgery I woke up and didn’t even need the pain meds. I just felt like I had a bruise on my chest. I was really pleasantly surprised how easy the recovery has been. I could drive 3 days after explant. Dr Whitfield is a fantastic surgeon who really cares about your recovery. Any future cosmetic procedures I have will be with him!

My girlfriend used this surgeon for her explant, and from an outsider’s point of view in the medical field, the entire thing was unprofessional and poorly executed. From the office set up to the actual meeting, this doctor seemed very unprofessional. I voiced my concerns to my girlfriend, but she chose to use him anyways. Now I wish I would have been more assertive. When he called me to tell me she was out of surgery, I could tell that there was something wrong. He sounded incoherent, flustered and stressed. He didn’t sound like a man that could stand over his work. What I experienced on the call to come get her was very strange, and after coming to get her I could see why. I knew she was supposed to get her implants back to sell to the manufacturer in order to offset her surgery costs, and that didn’t happen at the surgery center. I figured that maybe he and my girlfriend had another arrangement I wasn’t aware of, or something. Nope. The reason he sounded incoherent and why it felt like we were rushed out of the center (she was still in incredible pain—the only times I’ve seen someone look like that is before they died) is because her implants were lost. So not only did we spend the money to get the surgery (which she never healed properly from, mind you) but now we are out another 2500 dollars for the “losing” of the implants (over 8k at this point). Dr Whitfield never bothered to contact her when she asked him about the implants directly TWO times. Then, when she left a negative review, he had the gall to offer her money to take it down. She has proof of this in screenshots. Then, this guy took to Facebook and asked people to write positive reviews on him (I’m glad he has some at least) and he received 17 new 5-Star reviews in less than 48 hours. He had 5 reviews when my girlfriend wrote hers, if I remember correctly. Nothing about this man was professional, and as a medical professional that works with surgeons myself, I should have seen the red flags. Maybe he does good work for other types of procedures, but you should NOT use him if you are considering him for breast explant surgery. If something goes wrong, he will just avoid you and then blame everyone else for his mistakes once he feels cornered. 1/5 stars for at least getting the toxic bags out of her.

Dr. Whitfield is a fantastic surgeon with incredible bedside manner. I was diagnosed with BRCA2, a deadly gene, which can lead to an 85% chance of developing breast cancer over the lifetime of the patient. I spoke with many surgeons for the prophylactic double mastectomies and every-single-one of them recommended Dr. Whitfield without hesitation. They heralded his skills above all others. He does NOT disappoint! I had a DIEP Flap surgery, a very serious surgery which requires a skilled microsurgeon to perform for positive outcomes. I'm six weeks out from this surgery and have natural tissue for my breasts, a tight (nay, glorious) stomach, and could not be happier. Scarring is so minimal and well-placed along the abdomen! Cosmetic benefits aside, I also have a significantly lowered risk of developing breast cancer and can live with peace of mind. I think the more important aspect of Dr. Whitfield to point out is how caring he is for his patients. He has called me after business hours a few times to console me over insurance woes, pain management, or just to check in and make sure I'm doing alright. He's not the kind of doctor that does the surgery and goes away. He holds your hand through the entire process. I've been a patient of his for many years now and would highly recommend him to anyone considering a plastic surgery procedure! He's saved my life and made me feel whole again. Can't say that about most doctors these days.

I was looking for a PS in Austin TX that did explants (implant removal) and preferably by enbloc. That’s how I found Dr. Whitfield, his name popped up in that search. And I’m so thankful I did find him and he advertises breast implant removal on his website. That in-of- itself made me very happy - many PS I’ve found don’t advertise implant removal, even if they have done it. So the fact that Dr. Whitfield has a page on his website that’s easy to find, made me also confident in going to him. I loved that he never tried to talk me into doing an exchange or other unwanted procedures, like draining them before removal — like some others had that I had talked to. Dr. Whitfield took the time to listen to me, he wanted to know what my complaints were and he gave me his honest opinions during the consultation. His nurse Sarah is also really helpful and I love that, both Sarah and Dr. Whitfield will get back quickly if I have a question and they don’t mind if I ask questions. And they are both friendly, they always greet me when I come in for my follow-ups. And Erin, who works in the main office has and is always really nice and can work wonders with the scheduling. When I first went there, I had to move around my consultation and surgery date a few times. Erin, was always very at ease with it and never got flustered with me. She was able to move my appointment up even, so I was able to get it done earlier in the month. Which was AWSOME! I really like how Dr. Whitfield will have pathology testing done and gives you the option of keeping your implants if you want them. They are super easy to find and they have a satalight office in RR which is helpful. I’ve been too both. I’ve recommended a few ladies here, who were looking for a PS. I feel like I’ve been in great hands and know it can be hard to find a great one. Dr. Whitfield and his staff is one of the great ones.

I wish I could give my experience with Dr. Whitfield 10 stars! I went to see him to discuss fillers for my face and lips, which was all new to me. Dr. Whitfield removed my breast implants with a full capsulectomy and according to him I had the widest implants he’s ever seen! Lol. He also performed a donut lift and I have to say he did an amazing job on both!! I am extremely pleased with my results! Dr whitfield is an excellent doctor. I had previous reconstruction on my breast before and Dr. Whitfield made sure that my reconstruction was to my satisfaction. His staff is awesome. I was referred to Dr. Whitfield by my sister in law and a friend of mine. I have nothing but rave reviews for him and his staff. From my initial call through all calls, texts, and appointments, his entire staff has been courteous, polite, and helpful. Dr Whitfield, took the time to listen to my concerns, I had a plethora of symptoms that I had been dealing with for about 5-6 years (each one only getting worse with time). They each started small, more of annoyances, and each one I disregarded to 1. Getting older, 2. Having children and the toll that eventually puts on your body, and 3. Early onset of menopause (I and currently in my mid 40’s). I began hearing about BII over a year ago and began doing my own research. I was worried that the symptoms would not go away after my explant, but was out of options. (Every medical test I had taken came back normal and I had tried pharmaceutical medicines and wholistic approaches to no success. I was a 45 year old who felt like I was in my mid 60s. I had my surgery on March 7th 2019 and within a week I began to notice major differences in my health. Little by little my symptoms began to lessen. If you are suffering from Breast Implant Illness and looking for a highly skilled surgeon who does en bloc capsulectomy, I would highly recommend Dr. Whitfield. I was able to get a consultation right away, and schedule my surgery a few weeks later. I wanted my implants out right away so this was a huge plus for me. During my consultation, Dr. Whitfield took his time to listen to me, and I never felt rushed. He has you fill out a survey of your symptoms for his research he is doing on BII. After surgery, he checks up on you, and has you come in for follow ups as needed. His team is also amazing, they are all so nice! I’m one month post op today and I feel great! I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Robert Whitfield and his staff. My story was unique in that I had 3 year old implants that needed to be removed due to them making me sick. My symptoms were severe and I was desperate for help. Everyone in his staff helped me every step of the way. Although Dr. Whitfield is probably one of the busiest surgeons in Austin, he made me feel like I was his only patient. Surgery is always scary and his staff helped me to feel at ease and calm through the process. They have a great patient portal to send secure texts/photos to the doctor shall you have any concerns. I was Referred To this Amazing place by tracy Pendley. Although, I didn't see Dr. Whitfield I did see Sarah for botox And fillers. ( Mind you my very 1st time at the age of 38) Almost 39. I felt super comfortable with all staff and Sarah is Amazing. Nothing hurt, she had all the answers and it was easy peasy. My only thing is, I was under the impression I could get a little more work done if i joined the program, as i did.. With knowing what i had done, I was dying to get 1 more syringe in my cheek area. I didnt know i was limited too. Under the circumstances I totally understand why I was limited, but should have been told that when making the appointment. However, not a huge deal and wont stop me from coming back and finish what i want done. The practice is super clean, professional looking and classy. Every employee was super sweet. Erin at the front desk was super helpful as well. I will be calling in a few days. Absolutely recommend this place to Everyone!! Sarah knows her stuff and did AMAZING WORK. SEE YA'LL SOON.

Dr. Whitfield and his staff are amazing. I suffered from breast implant illness with my implants (he was not my original plastic surgeon). He genuinely listened to my concerns and didn’t try to sell me new ones or try to talk me out of removing them. He is caring, professional and took time with each visit and in present day, that is hard to find. He is on an approved list of surgeons in the Facebook group and website: Breast Implant Illness and Healing as he removes both implants AND capsules, which is extremely important. He even discusses this illness on a video on his website and has info regarding the procedure, en bloc, on his website as well. A “thank you” to Dr. Whitfield and his staff for everything!

He uses a pain control protocol that greatly reduces the need for post operative narcotic pain medication-and the associated side-effects. I was alert very quickly after DIEP reconstruction. The day after surgery I was walking short distances. I was released from the hospital three days post op. Recovery has gone smoothly and the reconstruction looks amazing.
