My 15 year old daughter had two cysts. They were removed by Dr Ashinoff. Two days prior to her scheduled surgery date she grew a third. The doctors office was concerned about receiving authorization from the insurance company to have the third removed in time. They placed her on an antibiotic and advised me everything would be removed. Her surgery went well. The staff was great with her. However, if you have a surgery at the Tinton Falls surgery center do not bring anyone with you. Multiple surgeries are scheduled and the tiny hallway/waiting area has maybe five chairs total. Follow up appointments were a mess. Waited over two hours past our scheduled appointment time for all our appointments. They are in one office one day, another office another day. A different office once every two weeks. They will want you to travel to all of these different locations for appointments that range from Manahawkin to Shrewsbury. So, it is the norm and not a rare occurrence with this scheduling and logistical mess. Now, she still has one cyst. The doctor does not want to go back in and remove it but wants her on an antibiotic to hopefully shrink it. I am going back and forth with my pharmacy and the doctors office for two days to get the prescription to the pharmacy. Still no prescription at the pharmacy. Very simple task to achieve yet not done. Today, the cyst ruptured breaking her skin open bleeding and leaking a fluid. The on call nurse called me back and advised there is nothing she can do for me other than to advise me to call the office tomorrow and schedule an appointment when the doctor is available and this is not an emergency. I would not recommend this group to anyone. In the morning instead of calling to schedule an appointment I will be scheduling with a different physician. Update - Dr Ashinoff called me to personally apologize for the office staff stating he should have been called by his nurse right away. After three days of back and forth with the doctors office the pharmacy finally received the antibiotic prescription my fifteen year old daughter needed. We confirmed with our pediatrician she did have a rather severe infection that most likely could have been avoided if antibiotics were started the three days prior. The staff basically caused another cyst to rupture ending in unnecessary pain and an infection due to lack of care. I am happy that the doctor recognizes the issues currently in his office and hopefully the necessary changes are made to create a better environment for patient care. The office staff is the hub of the doctor and regardless of how great the doctor is, if everyone else does not provide the same level of patient care, it’s a no go for me since 90% of interaction is not with the doctor.
