We saw Dr. Thompson for a consultation after being referred to him by our ped for my son’s lip tie. I’m sure he could’ve taken care of our needs on a basic level, but we canceled surgery with him based on failing to introduce himself, failing to take time to consult fully or ask if we had any questions, describe the procedure, and ultimately missing the posterior tongue tie. The standard of care just did not meet our expectations. He referred us to a pediatric dentist to confirm, and we were scheduled over a month out.
As a mother, my instincts urged me to seek care elsewhere for someone who is confident in what they are diagnosing. We were taken care of by a knowledgeable and thorough dentist who accommodated our needs the next business day and has gone above and beyond being available since. At the end of the day, Dr. Thompson is probably excellent at what he does- I’m sure he can meet needs as an allergist, but this was not our need and it was not the right fit at all for us. Before I hand my infant over to you to work on, the least you can do is introduce yourself and shake our hands, ask for my child’s name. If a child is needing care and is failing to eat/losing weight and you can’t accomodate for a month, pass on taking the case and urge parents to seek help elsewhere. Act in the patient’s best interest.
