Victor, the office manager from Dr. Szachowicz's office has replied below to my review. I find some of it inaccurate and unfair. I have responded below.
My First Reivew: "I consider myself a responsible person. I've been clenching my teeth at night for years and heard of a procedure where you can put botox into the jawline to reduce clenching. I called this office to make my first appointment. I'm not sure how this happened, but the appointment was entered into my phone on a thursday and a friday. I had friday in my head, wrote a note, and hung it on my fridge. I called that morning to verify my appointment, get good directions and ask where to park. I was told my appointment was the day before and I had missed it. I was sick about this as I had scheduled this appointment a year previous but my son in law got very sick with cancer and I moved out of state to care for him. I had to cancel that appointment. The receptionist was very kind and told me to call when I got back in town and they would help me. I asked the receptionist if I could reschedule...."nope, " I was told. I'm not sure I heard him correctly and asked for clarification. "Nope....we don't reschedule a first time appointment" I was floored. I offered to pay anything the Doctor felt was fair for the missed appointment the previous day (even though this was a free consultation.) This would certainly show how committed I was. "Nope", I was told. "I'm the office manager and I follow office policies without exception." There is no margin for error at this office. How are we to know that sometimes the office management might make a mistake? That is why everyone deserves a second chance before getting permanently cut off. I'm sure the physician is very good at what he does, but the office lacks good customer care. To be honest, I'm still processing this. I've never experienced anything like this in a professional setting."
In my defense to Victor (office manager), I had to change my first appointment because my son in law took a bad turn with cancer and I was his caretaker. He passed away shortly after. I didn't randomly miss my first appointment. I flew to Colorado and called Dr. Szachowicz's office to explain what happened and that I would need to reschedule an appointment I was so looking forward to. I asked the office to send me a packet I could fill out ahead of time so I was prepared for my rescheduled visit. I never received it. I searched through all of my gmail and could not find it. I was watching for it. I also went through my phone and found no texts or calls from this office reminding me of my visit. Clearly there was a glitch somewhere. I give this office a 1 star as I only missed that one appointment and it was an honest mistake, not a calculated "changed my mind" visit. I have never seen this kind of customer service anywhere in my 60 years. Both my husband and I have been in the healthcare world for 35 years. I've always found the healthcare world to be forgiving as people make mistakes and in the end there is a healthcare need that needs to be addressed. Some compassion is in order.
