I had a very pleasant experience from start to finish with Dr. Smith and his team. He gives great instruction and insight at the consultation and made himself available as a resource when any questions arose from that point on. His assistant Becca was particularly helpful and appreciated by me throughout the entire process, acting as a calming, caring, comforting resource and aid during office visits and every one of my multiple phone calls. I will say that a main driving factor in picking Dr. Smith was his price point for breast implants, as well as the fact that he is highly rated on google. The implant type is actually what I sought before even beginning the consultation process, and I am very happy with the results, however I do feel that because I chose my surgeon based on the lower price that it increased my stress level throughout the process. If you can mentally get over that fact or maybe aren't a worry wart like me then there would likely be no concern, but I would feel remiss to not mention that, especially as I believe a factor in the high rating on google has to do with the price point. Again, regardless of aforementioned blurb, I am so happy that I underwent the surgery and with what I've got going on now. Thank you again Dr. Smith & Becca!

I underwent breast augmentation with Dr. David Smith in the fall of 2015. Immediately after surgery when the bandage was taken off you could see that my implant pockets were uneven and one of my implants was bottomed out. I went in for multiple post op appointments and was given different "advice" and conclusions of the issue every time I went in! I was told I had capsular contracture, which I do not. I was then told he would move one of my nipples even though the issue was a bottomed out breast implant with uneven creases. Then I was told I do not have capsular contracture at another post op appointment and told to wear an underwire bra at all times. After he had me wear 3 different types of bras and saw no change, even after 3 months he continued giving me false information and diagnoses of the issue. I then had to pay out of pocket for a revision surgery with another surgeon. I needed sutures to correct the huge uneven pockets he made and a scar revision for the horrendous scars he made! Please find a qualified surgeon if you are looking to have cosmetic surgery! It is worth the extra money to go to a top doctor and not get a hack job done to your body. I urge you to read some of his other horrible reviews on real self. He has done this to multiple people! I will be making a formal complaint to the Minnesota State Medical Board as well.

This "surgeon" is someone to stay far away from. He's got very rude bed side manner and cares only about getting your money. After scheduling a procedure we found out my wife was pregnant. When we advised Mr. Smith of this, he was unwilling to fully refund. He charges upfront and cares little about the health of a potential client. He even offered to still do the procedure which is illegal and just sickening! Forced retirement should be mandatory by the board of medicine in MN.

OK .. for sure .. this guy is writing fabricating reviews about himself to manipulate prospective patients, like the fabricated testimonials on his website. It is funny and scary at the same time. He thinks so highly of himself that he views other people as too stupid to notice. If you really were that intelligent and that great of a surgeon you wouldn't have to fabricate lies, reviews, and testimonials, or make advertisements lying about your experience, training, and abilities. So I did a consultation with him back in 2016 within a week after a co-worker of mine had breast work done by him, wanting the same procedure. Both of us had gone through recent bad break ups involving infidelity. During said consultation .. I was greatly turned off by how odd and manipulative he appeared. For example, he kept insisting my nose was too big for my facial profile and that I "needed" a nose job. Thank God! I turned away. My co-worker then began expressing how furious she was with her breast augmentations, feeling disfigured. I too could see the damage he had done. Her implants were completely misplaced and her breasts looked oddly shaped and distorted. She then began to complain that he had written a fake testimonial about her experience with him and her sanctification with the procedure. This year his comment about my nose being too big loomed on me again so I decided to see a "real" facial plastic surgeon about discussing a possible nose job. Mind you Dr. Smith is not a real facial plastic surgeon. You can look this up online. He does not have a board certification to perform "facial plastic" surgeries. And on-top of that he has no training in performing nose jobs. Forget the advertisement about the "special" $4900 nose jobs with 32 years of experience, that he just recently took down due to complaints that he was false advertising, which he had up for years. This plastic surgeon that I saw who I won't name out of respect told me and showed me how to look up Dr. Smith's certification and training information. Also .. he told me that my nose was perfect and that I should not touch it :) :) :) So dear Dr. Smith .. you really should think about retiring and joining the circus with your big projecting elephant ears, crooked nose, and manlet like stature .. as you would make a better clown than a medical doctor. Lol!

As a medical professional myself I was careful to find the best place possible for my breast implants and tummy tuck. My results were fantastic and the team was wonderful! It’s a no frills office which helps eliminate some of the overhead costs to provide a very very responsible rate for my surgery as compared to other places. When comparing other plastic surgery offices that might look nicer and have more frills it was evident that the expense is passed down to the patient. At Smith Plastic Surgery it’s about results. Not only did Dr. Smith produce excellent results for me, the team caring for me was amazing. The anesthesia was provided by a highly skilled provider from the University of MN which I felt very comfortable about due to the vast experience working at the university provides. The nurse Alice was so kind and such a hard worker she really made me feel well cared for. Amy also was great. She provided great care helping coordinate everything from the time I scheduled my consult to the follow up appointments after my surgery. I can’t say enough good things about my experience. Had the most horrific experience of my life.. twice! I finally was able to fix what this man has done and my current surgeon said he never seen anything like it in his career. Please spend more money on yourself and go elsewhere! His bed side manner is horrible and he won't take responsibility for his work but only force blame where it doesn't exist. 6/14/19 Dr. Smith comments to me “Sorry” wow! Sorry? Sorry would have been empathetic to what you did to me! It would have been helping me find a solution rather than placing blame when I did nothing wrong. Ten years after I had my initial breast augmentation with saline implants done by Dr. Smith I decided to have a revision with silicone implants. Dr. Smith very wisely advised me I should go a little bigger to goo in the skin. I was a little skeptical but couldn't be happier with the results. His prices are unbeatable. I think people in general think you get what you pay for, not true in this case, Dr. Smith does an excellent job. He had an operating suite onsite which helps keep costs down.

I absolutely agree with the negative comments about this money hungry fraud. My wife and I had a consultation with him after she found his advertisement on facebook about 2 years ago. As soon as we walked into his office it smelt awful. Very outdated. The consultations are free, but most surgical consultations are these days. But he uses these consultations as a platform to talk about himself. We ended up not going with Smith. We ended up doing about 11 consultations before choosing a qualified surgeon, as should you all do. None of the surgeons went on long tangents about how intelligent and great of a surgeon they are. He even boasted about his academic achievements. Like your patients don't give a hoot that you majored in Philosophy, or that you got Alpha Omega Tau honors in Medical School, which come to find out, is not even an actual academic honor ... but rather something students pay to join into. So anyone in medical school could graduate with Alpha Omega Tau honors if they have paid for it lol Come on guy. Anyways, it was a clown show from the beginning to end. Dr.Smith is very manipulative, if he is not talking about himself he is talking with the sole purpose of manipulating you. I am glad that both my wife and I had this experience with Dr.Smith in contrast to the other consultations we have had. Smith is a very abnormal human being and clearly has some sort of personality disorder. He should not be in the business of surgery. His existence and the damage he has done to people does serve a purpose though... it teaches us that we have to choose medical professionals wisely and take their words for a grain of salt.

Great experience with gynecosmatia surgery - until the bandages come off. Everytime I ask him questions always the same BS “it looks beautiful, I did such an amazing job”. Was not worth the money I should’ve spent the extra and went to someone who knows what they’re doing. I explained my concerns many times and he just kept saying that it is “just swelling”. Nearly a year later I tried to talk to him again and he just told me I am “severely overweight” and should consider gastric bypass. I’m about 40 pounds overweight. What a joke! As for him responding to the “fake” reviews, I can guarantee they are not fake. If you want to confirm, please message me here. This guy is so full of himself and its sad reading the other reviews about how he treats other patients - because he treated me that way too - condescending, negative, and just disgustingly rude. Couldn’t care less about patients. All about the money. Everything is a sales pitch and once you’ve prepaid for your surgery it goes downhill from there. I wrote a positive review originally because he made me wait to be seen until I wrote him a good google and yelp review. This review will stay up, I guarantee that he won’t do anything to fix this and if he does it’ll be at a cost. I won’t let him touch me again. He kept saying “it’ll only be 70% better” I should’ve clued in at that point! I told that to another surgeon that specializes in gynecomastia and he laughed and said that he should be embarrassed by that. Regardless. I think Smith got his words mixed up because it is only 30% better for me. Spend the extra 30-40% and go with somebody that cares I really tried to give him another chance before doing this but that didn’t happen. Don’t let all those 1970’s and 1980’s “achievements” on his dated office walls fool you, it is all a joke. Will be pursuing legal action

Dr. David Smith is someone you should stay far far away from! He is not a surgeon he is a butcher! He does not have a board certification to perform facial plastic surgeries but is performing facial plastic surgeries. He needs to be removed by the state. He botched my septum deviation surgery that I needed back in 2009 through Southdale Fairview. I followed up with him 1 year after the procedure as instructed, with multiple complications. During the follow-up he was adamant in accepting any fault or responsibility. He was not at all concerned that I could not breathe through my nose, that I had profound drainage, swelling, and pain 1-year post-op. Though he offered to do a revision at 85% of the cost, but I refused. Then, to my shock and horror, he tries to persuade me into doing a nose job. Once he realizes that I'm not going to fall bait for the nose job or the revision at 85% of the cost he gets up from his seat and rudely asks me to leave as he has other patients waiting on him - there was literally no one waiting in his waiting room. Mind you, the follow-up had lasted no more than 5 minutes at this point. It has now been 10 years and I have had to undergo several revision surgeries and I still have complications from what Smith did to me. Surgeons that I have met along this journey have either shaken their heads or laughed at Dr.Smith's work.

I had a procedure done with Dr. Smith and wish I had invested more time into finding a more trustworthy surgeon. From the first consultation I felt that Dr. Smith was very pushy and more like a car salesman than a professional surgeon. His assistant, Becca, is sweet and the only reason I felt even a little comfortable in the office. However, the ultimate reason I ignored my gut instinct was the price point. I felt that positive google reviews justified going against what felt right. I did not feel that the office had any regard to my health following the procedure, even though I reached out several times for concerns. There is one post-op meeting the day after surgery that lasts about 5 minutes. During this meeting they will remove any bandages and look at your procedure site briefly. At my day after meeting, I explained that I didn’t feel well and they assured me everything was fine and rushed me home. Two days later I was in the ER and stayed in the hospital for for three days due to excessive blood loss during surgery. There are no checkups between the day after surgery and the two month post-op checkup, and there is little guidance during that time. At the two month checkup, Dr. Smith and Becca will ask you to give them some stars on google. They will also give you a scar cream that Dr. Smith claims is the best out there, but it is actually palmers chapstick. If money is the real factor for your interest in Dr. Smith, please look into other surgeons as well. The hospital bill, extended stress, and detriment to my health were not worth “saving” some money at the start. I am now completely healed from surgery and the results are uneven. After receiving additional opinions, my skewed result is not due to complications or improper healing, but rather surgeon error.

Amd I never would spend any amount of money like this. But I had a client who I followed her experience with Dr smith amd seemed to be perfect and so I went forward with a consult. I can just say this whole experience was the worst I have ever had in my life!! I am now dealimg with uneven implants which one side dropped too low after the 3rd day after surgery. I should have went with my gut feeling amd not went through with him amd shopped around more. There was no information packet sent home with what to do if u experience any of these issues. I ended up with a huge bruise on my arm from them having to have r people hold me down after coming out pf anwthisia . which I called asking questions and they didnt tell me till my post opt appt horrible pain and not realistic with me needing more help with comfort . I was wrapped so tight after surgery it actually injurex my ribs more. Worst experience I have had in my lofe. Never did I feel I could call and talk about what happened or what I should do. I was told to come in and talk. Well for me to come in at 7 am in Edina was hard since I am single mom of 2 small children who attend school amx I work a job mprning hours. Nothing was convenient about my experience. I was then told to wear a underwire bra a size smaller around my band to "help" lift the Brest that had dropped. Which any person would know that wouldn't really help since the muscle and implant have been down for 3 months and healing together where they are. I was told to wear my strap to push them down which probably made the one breast even worse. I have been waiting to think of how I would write this review anx its been a struggle but today is the day I express my anger about my horrible experience with Dr smith plastic surgery. Oh amd since we went with the 445 cc he didnt have that so they did a little smaller which now I have wrippling and looks horrible. Anx I was told "oh well we can fix what's going on. The surgery is free u just have to pay 1500 for the anesthesia . mind u I got a whole 50 dollar discount for payong in ALL CASH!!!! I'm not paying a damn thing. I have continued to research breast augmentation. Amd I feel he must have speed through my operation and abused me during the process . I will NEVER EVER REFER ANYONE TO HIM AND NEVER GO BACK. even though I have 400 dollars of oooowe free botox I dont want that man or his team ever touching me again. Couldnt tell me anything over the phone about why I had a large handling bruise on my arm for 3 months and what to do about my situation. All together i cant blame any one at this point but myself for not listening to the bad reviews aboit this guy and going with my gut. After he said I need to make the decision to pay for the operation or not and making me feel o would loose my spot amd I was just a number . I can't believe he would have anyone come back after a consult u have to make ur decision that day and put money down. Amd ALL OF IT!!! long message but I needed to get it out finally! I'm not searching for someone to help me fix his mess of a job and it will cost me more. So all in all shop around and get many different our looks on such a life changing expensive surgery. And make sure u feel 100% comfortable with them amd of they make u feel pressured or on a time limit do not go with them. Very very upset and unhappy woman . AND NO I WOULD NEVER TRUST HIM TO TOUCH ME AGAIN!! somehow I find it interesting this same situation happened to another client on the reviews for u. Very very disappointed and will never return!!!

Some years ago after my divorce I wanted to feel better about myself and get a bump removed from my forehead. After selling himself via a television AD, I thought Dr.Smith may be the right surgeon. While in his waiting room. There was a patient of Dr.Smith's who had been severely disfigured by a botched facial procedure performed by Dr.Smith. I asked this patient if she had done her primary procedure with Dr.Smith and she said yes. She was there for her 1 year follow-up. After spending about 5 to no more than 7 minutes in Dr.Smith's patient room. She ran out crying her eyes out. Now it was my turn to sit down with Dr.Smith. As soon as I walked into the room Dr.Smith would not take his eyes off me. It was as if he was trying to read me. Then once we began talking about what I wanted done. Dr.Smith would consistently interrupt me to tell me what he thought I should get done. Some of the procedures that he was pushing onto me were things that I did not even come in for. As I now look back and read the comments that many have read. It is absolutely true that he tries to manipulate potential patients into performing very risky procedures that he knows he will botch. He does not seem to care about patient outcome, however. Which is very sickening. He is incredibly rude and callous. After some back and forth, he realized I was not going to buy what he was trying to sell me. So he then begins talking about how ugly he thinks I am. Literally using the sentence "you have several unpleasant features" and that my chin was "very masculine for a woman." The consultation ended abruptly once I asked Dr.Smith if he could show me before and after pictures of the procedures he was pushing me to perform. However, he kept saying that he does but that he does not want to violate patient privacy. After I pressed on for a bit more. He quickly got up from his chair and asked me to leave because I was taking up too much of his time, again in a very rude manner.

My experience here was terrible. My wife was told to be at the office promptly at 7:00 am to begin surgery and not be late, so we arrived at 6:30 am. At around 8:00 am I went to the restroom, when I returned my wife was being prepped for surgery. When I asked to see her Dr. Smith went into what I can only describe as a panic attack. Yelling, saying I needed to leave, I couldn't be in the "wake up room", and I couldn't drive her in for her post op check up. All because I missed his post op direction speech, "there's not enough time to explain it, you were not here." His speech was some common sense directions about medication, driving, and after care. I only used the restroom for 15 minutes after a 1.5 hour wait. My wife went into surgery nervous, confused, and scared. This was a very unprofessional display of control issues and made our experience very unpleasant. Anyone who speaks to this doctor can identify his controlling personality just from conversation. It's too early to make judgement on his work, but his people skills suck.

Be-careful! Dr. Smith is obviously writing fake 5 star reviews about himself to maintain his ratings. A lot of reviewers have described this guy as "controlling," "money-hungry," "manipulative," and that he "lies pathologically" over the vast number of review platforms out there. These fake reviews, and the fake testimonials on his web page, are yet another example of how manipulative and sick this man is. He is also reporting 1 star reviews to get Google to remove them. Without a shadow of a doubt this man is a psychopath, and on-top of that he is probably the worst performing surgeon in the Midwest. Results of the procedure I had with him years ago were devastating and there really is no way to fix what he did. I have to just live with the damage he did to me. Luckily for humanity he is retiring in under 3 years. Now watch him make a slew of fake 5 star reviews to counter act my review which has been long over-due. :)

I suffered from a severely botched chin augmentation surgery performed by Dr Smith in 2015 ~ 4 years ago. I initially consulted with him to address the possibility of correcting what I thought was a slight chin asymmetry, an aspect of my facial profile that I was rather insecure about. But I was less than half hearted about undergoing any permanent alterations. Tragically, the very first consultation with Dr Smith ultimately influenced my mistake in getting this procedure done with him. During that consultation, Dr Smith was very offensively insistent that my chin was a far greater issue than it really was. Meanwhile he did not seem to be interested in what I wanted or what my concerns were, nor did he seem to be listening when I spoke. He appeared far more interested in talking about himself. About his degrees, certifications, and honors, even the ones dating back to his undergraduate years. He appeared very confident and full of himself. He claimed to be this highly prestigious and highly sought after surgeon running a very busy clinic. I left the consultation thinking that I must get this procedure done. Fast forward a few weeks post-operation. I’m in his office devastated and complaining about what he had done and that it did not match at all with what I had asked for. He had clearly demolished the natural shape and projection of my chin. He had mangled my chin into something awful. The slight asymmetry that was there before was much more profound. None of it made any sense to me. Dr Smith dismissively ignored my complaints and claimed that the outcome was “absolutely gorgeous” and that it was one of the best chins that he had ever done. A year later, I had collected statements from surgeons around the area that were baffled by Dr Smith’s work. Which I showed Dr Smith during that second follow-up. Dr Smith’s story had now changed, he began blaming the poor outcome on the amount of “pre-existing” scar tissue, and that I had poor quality skin, and that my body did not heal properly. I felt hopeless. I was finally able to reconstruct my chin with an out of state physician last year. My reconstructive surgeon (whose work I’m very pleased with, the contrast between a real doctor like him and Dr Smith is truly truly truly night and day!) said that Dr Smith’s claims that the complications and the poor outcome had to do with anything else other than his own mediocre performance and non-existing ability as a plastic surgeon is absurd. PS this is not a fake review, as I’m seeing that he responds to most negative reviewers by calling them fake. I can guarantee that they are not negative. I would be more inclined to believe that he is the one that is writing fake 5/5 reviews of himself. If you want confirmation or if you want more details please contact me.

An absolute psychopath. I'm sure he is writing fake reviews as many others have also suspected. He is so dishonest. This loser botched my eye lid surgery about a decade ago. There were no review forums or sites back then to see what he had done to other patients. I shiver recalling how highly he talked about himself. How he claimed to have performed thousands of these surgeries and that I was in right hands. Post surgery, his behavior and energy changed completely. He was rude and obnoxious. Rushing me out of follow-ups. I had to seek corrective blepharoplasty. My revision surgeon was baffled at what Dr.Smith had done and seriously questioned his competency as a medical doctor. I could not blink and could hardly shut my eyes. He had also ruined my natural symmetry. Yet Smith himself would insist that the results were perfect if not near perfect and that it was one of his best eye-lid surgeries he had ever performed.
