Thank you for the sex change operation! I love my new body.
After suffering a traumatic nose injury through a sporting event, I sought out a plastic surgeon in the greater Boston area who could help restore my breathing and aesthetics. I decided to have Dr. Bartlett perform the rhinoplasty procedure using ear cartilage grafts. Ultimately he failed to properly correct my breathing and deformed the conch portion of my right ear. I am particularly unhappy about the deformation in my right ear, as he incorrectly harvested the cartilage causing a collapse of the conch area. When I informed him that I still have trouble breathing, he became defensive and told me to start wearing "Breath Right Strips” which is an unfortunate response. I ended up having another revision procedure performed by a different surgeon to correct the breathing issues.
he is one of the Best
My experience with Dr. Bartlett and his office could not have been better. When I described what sorts of results I wanted, how much I wanted my breasts reduced, I felt like he was really listening to me. And Dr. Bartlett made the actual procedure, which I thought would be scary, not scary at all. And it was much less painful than I had anticipated. The symmetry, lack of scarring, and overall results are a testament to his skill as a surgeon.
Dr. Bartlett is a super conscientious, kind and attentive doctor. At my consultation for rhinoplasty and leading up to my surgery, he was very informative and honest about what to expect for results and about the healing process and made me feel very comfortable throughout the process. I was in a bit of a time crunch once I decided to move forward with the surgery, as I knew I would start a new job soon with no ability to take time out for surgery for a while. His team was very helpful and did everything they could to make sure I would be able to schedule this surgery as soon as possible. After we set the date, I decided I also wanted to do Blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery) and inquired if that was possible. Dr. Bartlett actually took the time while away on vacation to call me and discuss the possibility and procedure with me, and was able to schedule it in at the same time of my other rhinoplasty. I feel that Dr. Bartlett, his anesthesiologist and entire office team have been so helpful and supportive and everybody was sincerely kind and caring and professional. The surgery was a breeze and recovery was truly mild, as I experienced absolutely no pain at all, just a little bit of discomfort due to the initial swelling around my eyes, which was expected. Dr. Bartlett is a very skilled Plastic Surgeon who uses science and art in his work. It has only been three weeks so far, but I am extremely pleased with the results!
Such a wonderful surgeon! He changed my life. Thank you.
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Bartlett and the staff at his practice in Brookline. I am a 31 transgender man who sought top surgery (keyhole, pre-T) in the spring of last year (2012). Prior to deciding on Dr. B, I researched all of my other options--mostly financially because I really had to scrape the money together to make the surgery happen--just remember, this decision is LIFE CHANGING. In weighing out my options to travel to FL or CA vs staying local (I'm from Maine), the prices were comparable (especially when other surgeons were quoting $6500, but then neglecting to account for an $1800 anesthesiology fee (make sure you know ALL of the costs). When I first heard of Dr. B, I could only find one youtube video and no other strong references via transbucket or other online information sites for FTMs. Although the informational phone session proved encouraging, I visited his website and felt like maybe Dr. B was out of touch with the trans community, or not actually advertising for folks like myself. My partner reminded me that he is a cosmetics/plastics surgeon and that his website caters to a different audience. The office itself is immaculate and professional. Staff was exceptional; they asked all the right questions, and followed through respectfully. I thought maybe my own experience had been abnormally good, but after watching my friend get the very same treatment, have a different procedure for the same issue and have a friggen AMAZING result (we're hoping to do a vlog soon to show/discuss it), AND have it all happen Right Here In Boston, I'm blown away. Remember, safety and comfort is everything; even if a less-skilled surgeon makes a trans person feel comfortable and safe, the chance of that person seeking service from them is still pretty good. Dr. Bartlett is not only a highly skilled artist, but he and his staff create a safe experience. (For a slightly more thorough review of my process, check out what I posted on the Yelp circuit.)
A most amazing person and Doctor. He worked on my daughter who was 3. Two surgeries to remove a Cancerous Nevis on her chin on the midline. She had a wonderful memory from the doctor rather than a negative experience. Thankful
Dr. Bartlett is a wonderful surgeon. He is kind, validating, and methodical in his approach to procedures and recovery. His philosophy permeates to his support staff. They are genuine and care about your well being. Throughout this entire process I have left with a smile on my face each time I left the office. I am beyond happy with my results and the support I have gotten from him and the wonderful nurse team who deserve their own review for how great they are as well. Five stars is not enough to honor what his office does for their patients!
Dr. Bartlett and his entire staff were phenomenal. Thoughtful, knowledgeable and - perhaps most importantly - nice. And they never rushed you. I had a question soon after my procedure and they returned my call very quickly with an answer - that was appreciated. I have not hesitated to refer other people to Dr. Bartlett - and will continue to do so.
Dr Bartlett and staff were amazing pre, during and post op. I knew I was in good hands from the beginning and couldn’t be happier with the results. I had gender affirming top surgery and highly recommend him for this procedure. I didn’t need drains and pain during recovery was so minimal that I only needed to take Tylenol.
Im a transwoman and had surgery recently with Dr. Bartlett and I was completely satisfied with the entire experience from pre-op to post-ops. He was always polite, down to earth, and carried a calm confidence in every interaction. He was informative about the process and procedure and how to make sure everything healed perfectly. The end result is perfect, and the staff both at his office and at the hospital all treated me with dignity and respect. Would absolutely recommend.
Dr. Bartlett is absolutely amazing. I made the right choice choosing him as my surgeon for sure. I could not be any happier with my results. The office has very friendly and kind staff. They are very professional and good at what they do.
Dr Bartlett performed a procedure on me a few years ago. Dr Bartlett’s bedside manner is impeccable. He is not only Professional, Extremely Precise in his attention to detail, but also he takes control the minute he greets your bedside and even wheels you into the Operating room. Dr Bartlett Staff is outstanding. His office is immaculate. And the aftercare couldn’t have gone any smoother. I cannot speak any more highly of Dr Bartlett and how happy I am with my results. Thank You Patricia Grassia
A great experience working with Dr Bartlett, an his practice. From beginning to end exceptional
A highly skilled and kind doctor. I received top-level medical care. I read the one negative review on here. As a transgender man, I must disagree. It is not a physician's responsibility to go above and beyond the standard of care at their own cost. This is not exploitation. This is at least an extra hour in surgery at the cost of hospital facilities and staff. My results are honestly perfect, and that is in large part because his careful method is thorough - and therefore takes longer. Additionally, I had almost no pain. I was expecting a far more difficult recovery. It's been almost exactly a year and I would choose nothing different.
I had a very positive experience with Dr. Bartlett and his entire team. I found their approach to working with patients to be supportive, open and non-judgmental. I really appreciated their fantastic communication and responsiveness. I'd recommend them without hesitation for anyone seeking gender confirmation surgery.
After meeting him for my pre-op appointment, I had no worries or nervousness whatsoever prior to my surgery, even up until the last minute before going under. Dr. Bartlett has a calm demeanor that signifies his confidence in his abilities. He took his time and made sure my results were exactly what I wanted — very minimal scarring, it almost looks like I never even had surgery four months ago. His nurses were also a good representation of Dr. Bartlett, as well. They were on it when I needed a question answered and were flexible when I needed to change my appointments. I highly suggest Dr. Bartlett and his staff. I paid a bit more than say other surgeons might have sold me for but I feel like I got a higher quality surgery outcome, as well.
BEWARE: I've been concerned about Dr. Bartlett's FTM top surgery since I spoke to him. The fact that he does a "bare bones" surgery and then says that the patient has to pay between $2-5K for cosmetic purposes is a disgrace to transgender patients. The state pays for gender affirmation surgery. The contouring, symmetry and other aspects of a good surgery shouldn't be available as an additional charge!! Who does that? Well, Dr. Bartlett does. This was a huge not the big turn off for me. What was is the additional costs that are somehow or somewhat almost $5,000 for patients who often have no employment due of transphobia. I mean, that is exploiting us, our limited resources and that's when I decided not to have surgery with him.
I am 2 days post op from a breast reduction done by Dr.Bartlett. We chose Brigham and Woman’s Faulkner hospital to do the surgery at. I am THRILLED with how they look so far and I haven’t needed to take one narcotic, only Tylenol. Dr.Bartlett took such good care of me and let me know a timeline for when I should go back to everyday activities I was doing prior to surgery. Nurse Emily that works at his practice kept me in the loop and had amazing communication with me about the surgery and even my disability paperwork. This has been an amazing life changing experience for me and I couldn’t be any happier. My first post op visit is Wednesday!
