I just want to start by saying THANK YOU Dr. Mountcastle and staff! You all are awesome. I got a keloid removal on my ear a couple of months ago and it is healing just fine. I had to do 4 steroid injections and of course the actual removal. I started at the end of July and came once a month for the rest of the injections. I had to do 1 injection before the procedure, one at the same time as the procedure and one after the procedure. (I had to do an extra one, because the last one didn't take, making that #4). Dr. Mountcastle and his staff was super patient with me being that I am a college student and having to keep travelling back and forth for the injections and making sure I stay on the timeline. They are very warm and welcoming. My ear is doing awesome. I am still wearing my compression earrings (in which I get a lot of compliments on ) and scar cream. Needless to say I highly recommend him! He and his staff know what they are doing.

AWESOME experience! Dr. Mountcastle and his staff are wonderful, kind, compassionate, and professional. I never once felt negatively judged. They evaluate you to help you reach your best you. He actually listens to you and tailors his treatment to your needs. After having a spinal injury and then a baby by c-section, causing a lot of weight gain and pain and depression.... not only did Dr. Mountcastle help me, he gave me hope. I had smart (laser) lipo done on my stomach, flanks, and bra pads. I intend to have this same procedure done again on my inner and outer thighs. Dr. Mountcastle and his team were very professional and welcoming throughout my 7 month tenure with them. My initial consultation for my breast reduction surgery took place May 2014. Although I was extremely unsure about getting the procedure done at first, the team answered any questions I had, showed me pictures of work that had been completed in the past, and ultimately made sure I was comfortable with my decision. The day of the surgery, Dr. Mountcastle allowed me to express any lingering concerns and reviewed my wishes one last time with me. The surgery seemed minimally invasive-- I had no real problems post surgery, except for a small wound opening which I discovered many patients had experienced with this operation. The night I began to bleed, I phoned Dr. Mountcastle near midnight, and he enthusiastically calmed my fears, instructed me on proper self-care, and invited me back into the office if the bleeding had not stopped the next day. Needles to say, his advice worked, and I only visited the office a few more times for my regular post-op care. It has now been 5 months since my surgery, and I am extremely satisfied having gone from a DDD to D cup. I would definitely recommend this physician for any surgery needs.

I was truly excited about my appointment today with Dr Mountcastle when I found out doing my first visit with him I was also able to get my procedure done. The procedure went well up to the point where his assistant was not able to provide him with the forceps he needed. At that point I got a little nervous but he made do with his hands. I have no idea how this office got such great reviews?!! This place is a total mess and the work that was done on my skin cancer removal left an ugly scar. My first introduction to this office was in the waiting area where the women behind the desk were bad mouthing the doctor...seriously? !!T he doctor then came out and had an argument with one of them in one of the rooms loud enough for the waiting room to hear. When I went back to the room for the surgery, the doctor was talking outside with one of the assistants/nurses about the other troublemakers..?. UNPROFESSIONAL. POOR BOUNDARIES (who's in charge over there?!) SHODDY WORK. There are many other plastic surgeons to choose from...go elsewhere.

UPDATED 5 stars to 4 stars TL:DR You are probably thinking this sounds like a mini golf course. Well, Mountcastle is his actual name and he’s a really great surgeon. I skinned my elbow and needed it re incised and stitched back together. I called at least 7 different plastic surgeons and this is the 2nd I met with and its been the best. Office 5/5 The office feels very friendly and high tech. They have really modern computers, office-made infomercials playing, the rooms have Amazon Echos and you can tell it the music you’d like. Staff 5/5 As you know, doctor’s offices are typically staffed with skinny, vegan, hot-girls. The difference here is they are also extremely helpful, patient, kind, and nonjudgmental. I think the office is fairly busy but I never felt like they were rushing to get me off the phone. In addition they were really committed to working with my insurance on my procedure. Dr. Mountcastle 5/5 The truth is it takes a certain kind of person to be a good surgeon. You WANT your surgeon to be confident, have some swagger, maybe a bit cocky. As a surgeon, Dr Mountcastle is excellent! I’ll be honest, he recommended my procedure be done in two parts. He would have done it in 1 if I asked and in hindsight I would have preferred to do it in one procedure.

I recently had a breast reduction done by Dr. Mountcastle. They were very helpful in my initial consultation and pre-op appointments in making sure that all of my questions were answered and they helped me deal with insurance to get everything processed. On surgery day, Dr. Mountcastle made sure that I was completely comfortable with everything and made sure that we were on the same page with my end result wishes. My highest review, however is their post op care. I had a minor scare on a weekend and left a message on the nurse line, and Dr. Mountcastle personally returned my call within the hour to make sure that everything was ok and ease my mind, and everything has turned out even better then I was imagining! I would absolutely recommend Mountcastle Plastic Surgery & Vein Institute!!

I recently fell on an asphalt surface and totally macerated my elbow. It was a large open wound that went down to the tendons. Because of the location normal stitches and bandaging would not work. My Family Practice Doctor sent me to Dr. Mountcastle. After examining the wound (about the size of a half dollar) he recommended surgical repair followed by a wound vacuum. Dr. Mountcastle went in and described the wound and the damaged bone. Then he put in an artificial skin to serve as scaffolding for the new tissue to grow on. He followed this with a wound vacuum. I had the wound vacuum on for approximately four months with dressing changes three times a week. My elbow is now healed completely with new tissue and looks like new. For those of you unfamiliar with Wound Vacuums they place continuous suction on the wound site which pulls out any drainage and draws fresh blood into the tissue to promote healing. The healing time is cut down by more than half of what it would take without the wound vacuum. Something about myself: I worked in hospitals for more than thirty years – first as a Navy Corpsman and then as a Hospital Administrator. When I retired in 1990 they did not have wound vacs. I highly recommend Dr. Mountcastle, his professionalism, knowledge, and care for his patients. Without his care my elbow may have never healed with such amazing results. A. Chris Fristad

Dr. Mountcastle and his staff are amazing. Dr. Mountcastle is very open and honest with his patients. If he feels that a patient will not benefit from a procedure, he will let you know. If you are a candidate for a particular procedure, he will let you know that you may not get the perfect results you want. That is what I like most about him. He does not make false promises and lets you decide if you want to proceed. He takes the time to examine your issue beforehand in the examination room, then meets with you after in his office to explain the procedure in detail by showing pictures and results of past patients. He goes over the cost as well at this point. Everyone who works in his office are professional, caring and take care good care of you. You could not ask for a better plastic surgeon who is caring and will take the time to ensure that you get the best care and results possible!

Amazing!!! Back in September I decided to get a breast reduction surgery and after doing my research and talking to Dr. Mountcastle before when my husband had his surgery I knew he was the one. There are a lot of plastic surgeons out there but Dr. Mountcastle made me feel comfortable he is very nice, friendly and his work is amazing. I had a tummy tuck and from day one I was confident that all was going to be ok, today is my 15th day after surgery and all I can say is that despite the fact that the tummy tuck is the most painful experience I have ever gone through after the c-section, Dr. Mountcastle made it easier, he is gentle and I have never seen a surgery that looks as clean and perfect as mine does. I still have the tape and not yet seen the scar but I know it will heal as well as it should. I went back to work the 11th day after the surgery, the first day I was miserable due to back pain but from the second day on I am perfectly fine, walking almost perfectly straight and I feel great. I am wearing dresses since I am a bit swollen, I can wear workout clothes nicely but regular pants not so much. Overall I am so happy to have found Dr. Mountcastle, I trust him, not easy to say that about a doctor now a days. He is a Keeper!

Wonderful experience with my lipo procedure on1/18. Great doctor and nurses. They made me feel comfortable the entire time. Update 1/26: Today is my one week post op and I can already see the difference in my outter thighs like crazy. I can tell a difference in my stomach area too but it's still swollen. I am very happy with the results so far and I would say the soreness/pain after surgery has only hit at most a 6 out of 10. I've had lipo before, many years ago, and the procedure and pain afterward was way worse last time.The new way Dr Mountcastle does smart lipo is truly a dream compared to that. Highly recommend!

The office procedures were well-explained beforehand and Dr. Mountcastle is compassionate as he does his work. I learned that plastic surgery isn't just for cosmetic issues; it really is for all sorts of problems, and the staff helps with all of the associated emotions that come along with the physical concerns. My teenager is the patient, and Dr. Mountcastle gave appropriate and helpful information. In fact, as a result of this experience, my child wants to become a surgeon. I just removed two moles on my face at Dr. Mountcastle's office, and he did an amazing job. My moles were there for years but started to grow very fast recently. My family doctor and dermatologist both suggested that I remove them as soon as possible. I was recommended to have the procedure done at a plastic surgeon's office, because they are on my face and they are very big in size. I decided to go to Dr. Mountcastle's office after reading many online reviews (if someone is getting five stars from all reviews, he has to be good). At the consultation, he told me everything I would like to know, including the procedure, the expected result, and even discussed plans to treat scars if there are any. The procedure took only like five minutes, way faster than I thought. And the result is, so far, excellent. The places are flat and barely noticeable except for a little redness (Dr. said that should fade with time). I can't be happier. Thank you, Dr. Mountcastle!

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Mountcastle and his staff. I needed a pilonidal cyst removed and Dr. Mountcastle has significant experience with the procedure to remove these cysts. Also, he participates with my insurance (which was Blue Cross), so I only had to pay the associated co-pays for consultations and procedures. He performed the removal procedure at Inova Fair Oaks, and everything went very smoothly. In addition to the cyst removal, Dr. Mountcastle's office provided laser hair removal to the affected area to hopefully reduce the chance for recurrence. This was also covered by insurance. The Medical Spa facility is in the same Ashburn building, and definitely feels more Spa-like than doctors office. The specialist who performed the procedures Maria Foster, was excellent. She managed to strike a perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism. I can recommend and would go back if necessary.

I had a (second) Pilondial cyst. The first was surgically removed by another doctor the old fashioned way (excision) in 2013 and eventually came back. I went to MountCastle because I read he did the Cleft Lift surgery. He does and does it very well. The recovery time was faster and easier than the excision. The Cleft Lift has a much lower chance of reoccurence than the usual excision. Staff is friendly, Doctor Mountcastle is friendly and a great surgeon. I've had no problems since he did the surgery in August. They'll work with your insurance effectively. Great place.
