My experience with Dr. Rumer was amazing. From the very beginning I felt very comfortable in her relaxing environment. Her office was very clean and pristine. Dr Rumer reviewed over all the options that I had. Because of my chest size I was a great candidate for double incision. She's very straight for and doesn't cut corners. She gave me realistic expectations of how my surgery would go and what the end results would be. Her helpful staff was very patient with the many questions that I had periodically when calling the office. The morning of my surgery she marked where the placement of my new chest would be. Surgery went well I awoke in the hospital with a great staff. As far as the follow-up visit 1 week to have my drains removed. This also was the first time I was able to see my chest after surgery. My thoughts was she did an amazing job! She also Contoured my chest to outline my PEC muscles. The basis of me writing this is if you're looking for a surgeon with a steady hand and great post op results then Dr Rumer should be that choice.

THIS BUTCHER RUINED MY LIFE: Cosmetic problems:Nipple& incision unalignment.Even when there is proof,her defense is perfect with dismissal.Comes up with senseless reasoning like "my nipples would have looked artificial if they were perfectly even", suggesting to trim my GOOD right nipple so it matches with the damaged one,and tattooing them to even the coloring when the real issue is actually evening out the alignment which would involve adding pigmentation on left one's bottom portion while also adding some on right one's upper portion to make it look like they're even.But this would make the areolas larger than they should and even risking the left one's fragile state more because there is a cut in the middle from surgery.From looking at photos, I even noticed pre-op nipple drawing on the left side being more below than how it actually ended up being placed.That should give a sense of truth, but to her everything was fine.It’s irritating to hear exaggerated statements based on her stuck-up illusion. Pain problems:I got two dog ears when I shouldn't have them in the first place according to what she confidently told me beforehand given my thin weight.Even when there was an ideal body to work with, she gave me retarded results.I was mad to even need a revision for them because Im not ok with having more/fresh scars when the rest has healed ok in terms of coloring.I already don't ever want to be shirtless anywhere because of scars.The right dog ear hurts when touched, but left one is worse and hurts on its own.The majority of that area going up to the armpit is numb without tactile sensation, YET there is pain all around.I can’t even lie down on my left side without more pain from pressure.Also, there is fullness on the armpit level right before the nipple.Im not sure if it's scar tissue, left out tissue or neuroma.Basically, majority of the left side of my chest hurts.If I try to exercise the left arm,I get even more pain going to the back that just ends up disturbing me further.I am trying to distract myself from the original pain, not add to it!Something else I got right after this was,parasthesia symptoms around my left upper limb that happens randomly.All of this pain is supposedly from scar tissue when its actually nerve injury.She still avoided this fact to save herself from the trouble she deserves.I just want my pain gone because I am beyond sick of suffering for almost 3 years!I tried physical therapy,massaging,pain specialists,other plastic surgeons but got no real help.I didn’t know who to trust anymore considering my sensitivity to pain affecting my entire being.Because of my desperation, I made a stupid mistake of pursuing revision with her by logically thinking because she operated on me, it would be wise to go back to her despite not being comfortable.I didn’t want to be cut up for nothing if there was nothing to remove though since it will give additional fresh scar.I was lost in what to do because of risk of more scar tissue forming.Also, since my pain resolving not guaranteed and her telling me to 'take a 50-50 chance or live with it for life', I wanted her to just remove the dog ears and the scar tissue around there instead of risking the upper portion nearing the armpit, but that’s when everything came to an end by her true nature of indecency.By telling me she ‘wasn't going to do a 2nd revision for FREE’ was the last straw for me.She made it sound like she wasn't getting paid from my insurance for the one I was supposed to have.At this point I was in shock and the very least I said was that she owed me my health.Arrogantly calling me 'dramatic' like I am making up any of my suffering is truly despicable.Like I said anything bad, she ended up saying she didn’t want to operate on me.Because she's only after money, she’s incapable of comprehending the most important thing: someone’s well being. How dare you even bring up the word free when you're indeed the one who OWES ME?Suffer the absolute worst to the point where you won't be able to use those hands to operate!

I should have known something was off when they sent me the wrong quote. They sent me a quote for someone wanting gender reassignment surgery, with their name and address at the top. Their offices are nice, and things seem legitimate, but it's all a front. While Dr Rumer consulted me, it was someone else who I never met who performed my surgery. One of the assistants didn't show up, and the replacement said she hadn't eaten all day, but didn't want to eat because it would make her tired, and her work suffered for it. The main assistant got a phone call early in the procedure. It was his girlfriend, and he left the room in the middle of the procedure to take the call, and didn't return until toward the end, hours later. Rumer Cosmetic never scheduled a follow up visit. I had to call and request one. They give the appearance of professionalism, but are simply scam artists. The best scam artists give the appearance of legitimacy, and Rumer Cosmetic would fit right in selling snake oil in the 1800s. Please, for your health and wallet, avoid them at all costs.

Although I had difficulty contacting them in the past, they’ve reorganized the office and the phone system to eliminate the problem. My patient coordinator, Amanda Hoffman, has been especially good about making sure the clinic meets my needs. Any problems that cropped up have been dealt with in a professional manner in the most expedient way possible. I found Doctor Rumer herself delightful during my consultation and I am looking forward to working with her to realize my goals.

zero aftercare help when you leave that office, called several times and dont get a response. i would advise against going with rumer as youll end up regretting it. after their generic response i tried contacting them and guess what NO ONE PICKS UP THE PHONE! 5 calls and an email later nothing. can someone recommend a good lawyer?

She shouldn't be doing surgeries for transgender population as she is ruining peoples lives by causing lifelong misery by committing medical malpractice.She thinks she does a good job while the poor patient has to live with her mistakes and need revisions. Most of the time, other surgeons don't want to work on previous surgeon's work because they don't want to be responsible for the original mess up. That's where her neglect comes in. Go to her at your own risk if you don't mind suffering.

If I could give a lesser rating I would. Dr. Rumer seemed nice enough at first talking about compassion and care but as soon as I had any form of complication post op she started distancing herself more and more. The office became less and less helpful and stopped returning or answering calls or emails when they messed up my information. I was told in August I would need a revision and it took months to even get that moving forward. Cut to November and they are still not getting my paperwork for insurance filled out properly (they refused to schedule even a hold date for a patient identifier issue, already had a preauthorisation letter from insurance) and they suddenly just stop responding entirely. I am in pain daily because of her botched surgery and her office truly couldn't care less they're just happy to ignore and pretend it didn't happen or I don't exist. Won't even give me care instructions on what to do until I can get a revision to help ease pain or how to prevent it from getting worse. It hasn't even been a year since my initial surgery and they've gone MIA as if they have no compassion or care for their patients. I'm definitely considering a lawsuit for at least breach of contract

I went to Dr. Kathy Rumer for FtM Top Surgery (double incision, with nipple grafts) after hearing horrible things about the plastic surgeons in the area where I am from. Due to the distance, I had my consultation with her over the phone. Dr. Rumer and her staff were extremely friendly and answered every single question I had, and my first impression of the staff was very good. I called them multiple times and I never felt that they were annoyed with me and they never shrugged me off. Dr. Rumer's staff is AMAZING. They have a lot of passion for what they do, and it definitely shows. I felt confident that I was going to be in experienced hands (Dr. Rumer performs over 150 top surgeries per year!), so I went with Dr. Rumer for my surgery. It was a huge bonus that she took my insurance. This made the surgery more affordable for me. I took a plane to Ardmore, PA and moved into Dr. Rumer's recovery facility (located right above her office!) the night before surgery. Her staff was extremely welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable and ready for surgery the next morning. I was, I believe, Dr. Rumer's second surgery of the day. Everything went extremely smoothly. The hospital paid for a taxi for me to be transported to and from the hospital. Upon arrival, it was clear to me that all of the doctors were trans friendly. No one misgendered me, which is a first from doctors for me. They all treated me with respect and dignity. Before the surgery, I was kind of nervous, but Dr. Rumer was right there by my side to assure me that everything was going to be okay. I felt completely comfortable around her as I took my shirt off and she drew the marks on me for my new chest. Dr. Rumer truly is an artist and a compassionate individual. The surgery went without any complications, and my results look flawless! When I got back to the recovery center after surgery, Dr. Rumer's staff gave me a number that I could call at any time to get a hold of them if I had any questions, concerns, or issues during recovery. It was so nice to just be a phone call away from a medical professional during the duration of my stay. It made me feel safe and eased my anxiety. Luckily, I did not have to contact Dr. Rumer's staff for any medical concerns during my stay. The recovery center was very comfortable, and included a tv, wifi, my own personal fridge, and a shared kitchen. I was able to cook meals for myself while I was in recovery - it was so convenient! The day after my surgery, Dr. Rumer personally visited with me to make sure I was doing well. She is such a kind lady. Her staff was very competent and kept an eye on me while I recovered. Regarding my results, I could not be happier. The nipples are even and the incisions are almost symmetrical. During the appointment to remove my dressings and the drains, Dr. Rumer's staff patiently answered all of my questions and made sure I was well informed about what I needed to do before I left. They gave me the majority of the supplies that I would need to care for my incisions and scars. I am so thrilled to finally be free from my chest - it caused me so much pain and dysphoria for years. I cried tears of joy when I first saw how wonderful my new chest looks. Dr. Rumer and her staff are so compassionate when it comes to trans people like myself. For anyone else seeking this kind of surgery - I cannot recommend Dr. Rumer enough! She and her staff are all amazing people.

What a dope experience! I hate doctors. They make me nervous. Dr. Rumer and her staff did nothing but make me feel comfortable. They answered all of my questions often before they were asked. Jen and Amanda in particular were awesome in terms of helping me navigate paperwork and responding back to my emails in a timely manner. They are customer service oriented. Maureen made me laugh, which was welcome because I was nervous as hell. As for Dr. Rumer, I got the impression that she actually cared about me. Her pre-op visit to my room made all the difference in calming my nerves. She's also quite the artist, Im extremely happy with my results. She even corrected some of the cosmetic errors made by a previous surgeon a decade ago. I can't say enough positive things about my experience. If i ever have to recommend a place for cosmetic surgery this is the place!!!! They made my wife feel so much as home and they were very kind and helped us through the entire process and kept us up to date with things going on with surgery process. The entire staff are awesome and kathy rumor is amazing!!!! When we first met her i remember her blue eyes and that smile she gave us in the emergency room and her staff continued to work with us. I recommend this place to anyone who is getting a surgery done. We came all the way from Charlotte nc because my wife said kathy rumor has to do her surgery and no one else and we made that happen. I had top surgery and liposuction (known on her website as “mansculpting” with Dr. Rumer on September 12. My first consult was in January. I hadn’t meet with any other surgeons yet but I immediately knew I wanted to have surgery with Dr. Rumer after our consult. She was blunt and to the point about what my surgery would be like. Others have called her no-nonsense; I completely agree. She’s not there to hold your hand, but she knows what she’s doing— personally I appreciated this a lot. She took a quick look at my body to know what type of surgery I would have, and gave me and my partner, who came with me, a chance to ask questions. Everyone in the office was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Dawn, who sits at the front desk. I was concerned since I identify as non-binary and use feminine or gender neutral pronouns (not super typical for this procedure) yet everyone there assured me I wasn’t the first to identify this way. They’re very good at making you feel normal in what I have found to be a scary place for GNC people (medicine). Dawn made scheduling surgery super easy— when insurance approved, she contacted me and we set a date. I had a pre-op appointment to take photos of my body and discuss recovery, and was given protocol (taking arnica, what to eat and what not to eat, what to do day of surgery, etc.). I did have to pay out of pocket for liposuction directly to Rumer Cosmetics, and still had many not covered charges from the hospital, so it ended up being fairly expensive, but nothing crazy compared to other stories I’ve heard from people having surgery with my insurance (all in I paid about 6500, not counting time off from work and accommodations, but I believe it will turn out to be more like 5000 after some more claims go through my insurance). The day I was originally supposed to have surgery, I got a call— there was an emergency and Dr. Rumer could not operate that day. I am from New York and was in an Airbnb, so this was a huge issue for me. Dawn kept me up to date at every turn as she tried to remedy this. My surgery ended up being moved to a week later, and Dawn got me and my partner put up for a full eight days in the recovery suite upstairs from their office, free of charge (since I’d spent the money on the Airbnb and taken off work the week before). While it was a huge letdown to have surgery moved at the time, once I was post-op I was so thankful for the proximity to Dawn and everyone in the office. I had lots of little worries about swelling and discomfort and all I had to do was walk downstairs and I could be seen by someone. Even with the hiccups along the way to surgery I have to say it worked out better for me and my partner in the end, and I am so thankful to Dawn and Dr. Rumer and everyone at Rumer Cosmetics for doing everything they could to make things easy for me. Dr. Rumer has an associate, Dr. Brandt, who seems to be a fellow of transgender surgeries, who is SUPER responsive via email and always available to answer questions. She has made this process all the better. And most importantly, I am in love with the results of my surgery. I still have a few weeks of wearing a compression garment where I had liposuction and an ace bandage on my chest, and I’ve been told my final results won’t be visible until six months post op, but I already am healing quickly, and feel so great in my body. As others said it can take a little time to get through their phone lines, but I would be patient, send an email, and leave a message. I really can’t recommend Rumer Cosmetics enough.

Dr. Rumer has absolutely atrocious bedside manner, and the office is severely understaffed. When my wife came to have her Jackson-Pratt drain removed, Dr. Rumer viciously yanked it from her body and told us to change the wound wrappings ourselves. I will be telling friends to avoid her. Her surgery went well otherwise, but once they had our money it was obvious they were done acting like they cared.
