I dont blame Dr. Rumer for my GRS results as losing depth and width, only because Kaiser Permanente (DC) sent me to her, but I am sad because she always blame patient for this outcome and even funny when complications appear she always says "I never see these before" so good luck everyone and yes results are different from each other because everyone heal different but go under your own risk and ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS... I had my FTM peri-aeriolar top surgery on March 31st, 2018 at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA by Dr. Kathy Rumer. I made the appointment by phone probably a month earlier, and I had my month post-op check-up yesterday and my results look fantastic. TLDR AT THE BOTTOM! Dr. Rumer’s office is situated in beautiful and green Ardmore, PA. I drove from NJ - two hours each way to her office each time because I was dead set on my decision. I had done plenty of research, based on a “dream” that one day I would be able to afford to have my chest look like her before and after photos. Maybe four or five years later, I took a chance on that dream. I decided to take a risk on my gut to see if Dr. Rumer was compatible with my insurance - the worst thing they could say was no, right? Turns out that she was tier 2 with my insurance, which was Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey - surprising for a PA surgeon, yeah? But I sure wasn’t complaining, they paid half of the surgery cost. Something that really spoke to me about Dr. Rumer is how involved in the transgender community she is. COUNTLESS people - both FTM and MTF - have their consultations/check-ups, etc done right here at this office. She also regularly presents at the Philly Trans Health Conference and does around 150 top surgeries a year, she’s a member of WPATH, she was *****AN AEROSPACE ENGINEER FOR OVER A DECADE***** LIKE NO BIG DEAL OKAY so basically this lady is no joke. I wanted someone experienced, so she definitely had that box checked for me. Her office can hold your hand the whole way through if you need it (I know I did, as I was doing this on my own) - the packet you get as an e-mail attachment before your pre-op appointment will be your Holy Scripture that will get you through any trouble you’re having. It breaks down everything you need to do at certain stages before your surgery and puts it super simply - your full medication restrictions, addresses and phone numbers of associated facilities, important dates, FAQs, step by step like a checklist. I took a marker and marked everything off one by one so I wouldn’t miss anything. Upon entering the adorably PA building, you’re greeted with a beautiful, clean, air conditioned, chic waiting room with marble, stainless steel, and black leather accents. Small and quaint with lots of gorgeous windows, a large plasma screen TV, and a rack of current and relevant magazines. Dawn will probably be there to greet you, and Dawn is an absolute sweetheart. She is your best friend and guide to the office - she will be speaking on the phone with you, e-mailing and keeping in contact with you and she knows a lot, so ask any questions you have, all you have to do is call. If she doesn’t have the answer, she will find it for you. I ended up needing to return to the office a number of times for check-ins due to an issue I had while I was healing, so Dawn and the rest of the staff saw quite a lot of me. The amount of care and compassion that I received from not only Dr. Rumer, but her whole staff have been nothing short of absolutely amazing. 5/5 would recommend. Solving the issue that I had was not at all fun, but Dr. Rumer and her nurse’s aides were very professional and assuring. I trust the aerospace engineer. Getting this surgery done can be scary, especially if you’ve never had a major surgery before - so it’s really nice to know that I had access to such a fantastic and knowledgeable support system from the beginning all the way to the end of my journey. TLDR:: Experienced, caring, professional, clean office, amazing staff, involved in the community, insurance-taking, crazy cute Philly accent, aerospace engineer Dr. Rumer could not come any higher recommended by me. I would recommend this doctor’s office to ANYONE who might be considering where to get a surgery done. 11/10. Will update with before and afters once I don't have zombie nipples anymore!!!

The level of her irresponsibility is beyond belief to the point where it's sickening to my senses. What's worse is, it's not even just pain but extreme weakness in my arm/hand. I NEVER HAD THIS BEFORE! I could accept it if it just affected the chest , but no. This is just wrong and beyond unfair. I can't even work, exercise or even enjoy any of the hobbies I used to do prior to this injury of a surgery anymore all because of my inability to concentrate from this physical pain that doesn't subside at all! I get extremely remorseful of my stupidity of going to someone unfitting like her in the first place. I really wonder just how much I am going to be able to cope with this as I honestly can't imagine living with it for life:( Suffer the absolute worst to the point where you won't be able to use those hands to operate.

I had a consultation with Dr. Rumer on April 23, 2018. I have never had surgery performed by her and this was my very first visit. My rating is based on my experience with Dr. Rumer for the consult only. Dr. Rumer as well as her staff were friendly, polite, professional. They treated me with respect and as if they had known me for a long time. Unfortunately Dr. Rumer was unable to assist me with my issue. This is not because of any inability or skill on her part. She gave me my options and stated she would attempt surgery if I so desired however I could very well end up worse than when I started. I could end up with 24/7nerve pain. She left it up to me. I decided to live with what I am stuck with and my pain level now. Dr. Rumer was honest with me and warned me of the possible life long post op nerve pain. My consult was not rushed, all of my concerns and questions were answered. I traveled from Central Maine to see her so not being rushed through a consult was great.

Before I selected Dr Rumer for MTF SRS I mentioned her name to my gender therapist and my endocrinologist. Both were very optimistic about her. After my surgery I was sent home with a bottle of oxycodone and have did not have to open it even once. That must say something about the quality of her work. I was and am completely satisfied. I consulted a urologist about a nonrelated situation a year or so post-op- she said that my surgery had an excellent result. I have found everything about Dr Rumer and her practice to be first-rate- before, during, and after my surgery.

Nothing short of wonderful from the beginning. Having have had 3 consultations with surgeons from around the country, I ultimately chose to go with Dr. Rumer as she was the only one to make me feel confident and assured I would be safe yet satisfied with my surgical results. After reading some questionable reviews about her lacking interest in patients wants and concerns, I ultimately decided to talk to her about it during a later consultation and again, I felt 100% reassured and genuinely listened to by her. Being almost 3 weeks post op, I can’t say how happy I am that I stuck with her until the end. Everyone who has seen my results has been blown away by how much of amazing of a job she did. I believe had I gone with another surgeon for my procedure, I wouldn’t be as happy as I am today. While in the hospital, she personally came in every day to check on my healing, and to ask if I had any questions. Going into this procedure, I was scared and began to have doubts due to a wild imagination. Once again, Dr. Rumer calmed me down and made me feel I was in the best hands. All her staff has been incredibly helpful during my healing process, answering every question I have promptly. I definitely will be using Dr. Rumers services in the future.

I learned more in fifteen minutes that I have in the last fifteen months. My concerns were treated with pertinent information and no hesitation. The knowledge I sought was at the front of the receptionist's mind, without having to ask someone else. Upon following the given recommendations I found the information given was accurate and consistent with my insurers. Kudos to professional and educated staff. DO NOT USE RUMER! GRS surgery went south and there is ZERO after surgery care. it was a joke and ive lost all depth with as ive said ZERO help. Rumer blames the patent and i had to threaten to sue just to get to speak with her about my problems where in she became extremely hostile and refused to help me at all. dont just look at this review look at the reviews for rumer cosmetics.

She shouldn't be doing surgeries for transgender population as she is ruining peoples lives by causing lifelong misery by committing medical malpractice.She thinks she does a good job while the poor patient has to live with her mistakes and need revisions. Most of the time, other surgeons don't want to work on previous surgeon's work because they don't want to be responsible for the original mess up. That's where her neglect comes in. Go to her at your own risk if you don't mind suffering.

If I could give a lesser rating I would. Dr. Rumer seemed nice enough at first talking about compassion and care but as soon as I had any form of complication post op she started distancing herself more and more. The office became less and less helpful and stopped returning or answering calls or emails when they messed up my information. I was told in August I would need a revision and it took months to even get that moving forward. Cut to November and they are still not getting my paperwork for insurance filled out properly (they refused to schedule even a hold date for a patient identifier issue, already had a preauthorisation letter from insurance) and they suddenly just stop responding entirely. I am in pain daily because of her botched surgery and her office truly couldn't care less they're just happy to ignore and pretend it didn't happen or I don't exist. Won't even give me care instructions on what to do until I can get a revision to help ease pain or how to prevent it from getting worse. It hasn't even been a year since my initial surgery and they've gone MIA as if they have no compassion or care for their patients. I'm definitely considering a lawsuit for at least breach of contract Edit: it's funny to me because I have email and call histories that show their response is emphatically untrue. Also, how unprofessional do they seem with the responses they've given bad reviews? Also, isn't it amazing that they claim they don't condone bullying or the like when their responses to negative/honest reviews appear to show differently...

She is extremely rude and acts as if she has no time for patients, I was supposed to have a second consultation with her because I had concerns about my upcoming surgery she called and told me that she wasn't moving forward with me at all as a patient, because I call the office too much and hung up on me, her office staff is absolutely awful and do not return calls mis-schedule appointments. Overall her and her entire staff are unprofessional and I highly recommend that people in the transgender community stay away from this woman.

I went to Dr. Kathy Rumer for FtM Top Surgery (double incision, with nipple grafts) after hearing horrible things about the plastic surgeons in the area where I am from. Due to the distance, I had my consultation with her over the phone. Dr. Rumer and her staff were extremely friendly and answered every single question I had, and my first impression of the staff was very good. I called them multiple times and I never felt that they were annoyed with me and they never shrugged me off. Dr. Rumer's staff is AMAZING. They have a lot of passion for what they do, and it definitely shows. I felt confident that I was going to be in experienced hands (Dr. Rumer performs over 150 top surgeries per year!), so I went with Dr. Rumer for my surgery. It was a huge bonus that she took my insurance. This made the surgery more affordable for me. I took a plane to Ardmore, PA and moved into Dr. Rumer's recovery facility (located right above her office!) the night before surgery. Her staff was extremely welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable and ready for surgery the next morning. I was, I believe, Dr. Rumer's second surgery of the day. Everything went extremely smoothly. The hospital paid for a taxi for me to be transported to and from the hospital. Upon arrival, it was clear to me that all of the doctors were trans friendly. No one misgendered me, which is a first from doctors for me. They all treated me with respect and dignity. Before the surgery, I was kind of nervous, but Dr. Rumer was right there by my side to assure me that everything was going to be okay. I felt completely comfortable around her as I took my shirt off and she drew the marks on me for my new chest. Dr. Rumer truly is an artist and a compassionate individual. The surgery went without any complications, and my results look flawless! When I got back to the recovery center after surgery, Dr. Rumer's staff gave me a number that I could call at any time to get a hold of them if I had any questions, concerns, or issues during recovery. It was so nice to just be a phone call away from a medical professional during the duration of my stay. It made me feel safe and eased my anxiety. Luckily, I did not have to contact Dr. Rumer's staff for any medical concerns during my stay. The recovery center was very comfortable, and included a tv, wifi, my own personal fridge, and a shared kitchen. I was able to cook meals for myself while I was in recovery - it was so convenient! The day after my surgery, Dr. Rumer personally visited with me to make sure I was doing well. She is such a kind lady. Her staff was very competent and kept an eye on me while I recovered. Regarding my results, I could not be happier. The nipples are even and the incisions are almost symmetrical. During the appointment to remove my dressings and the drains, Dr. Rumer's staff patiently answered all of my questions and made sure I was well informed about what I needed to do before I left. They gave me the majority of the supplies that I would need to care for my incisions and scars. I am so thrilled to finally be free from my chest - it caused me so much pain and dysphoria for years. I cried tears of joy when I first saw how wonderful my new chest looks. Dr. Rumer and her staff are so compassionate when it comes to trans people like myself. For anyone else seeking this kind of surgery - I cannot recommend Dr. Rumer enough! She and her staff are all amazing people.

I elected her for my procedure disregarding one bad review because I was in good faith that everythingwill turn out fine from the good reviews and after talking to her. Now I'm in deep regret. I am in the need of revisions to correct flaws of a one-stage procedure, to what it lacks and the asymmetric surgical appearance. I still have nerve damage to one side after 2 years. Yes, I was reassured that everything will be fine on my follow ups. I had healthcare coverage for the procedure, but the office manage a denial. My medical necessity letters were improperly fax by their office creating a denial causing me to pay up front, a big mistake. Days after my surgery, I was approved for healthcare coverage. Everybody who sent out a bill for the claim got paid, the hospital and the anesthesiologists. Their office failed to send out a claim to them. I became concern and called. Their office is in network with my coverage, they send in the claim. So they sent one out. Later, I was denied on the claim because it wasn't filed on time. A healthcare coverage provider rep explain that I should not have paid until the claim clears them, then they can bill me. This prevents them from charging twice. I wasn't refunded by them on this mismanagement. The claim denial was their fault. I was in good faith. I do not recommend.

I wish I had a pleasant experience with some lucky patients here too... but I had horrible experience. I had top surgery last year and I am so dysphoric about how my chest ended up. (Even more than pre-op state!) Her once nice attitude changed to a careless one when I went for a follow up. Very unprofessional!I felt like my concerns were ignored and needless to say, I will go to a better surgeon for a revision! I ended up in tears as soon as I left the office...

Had my surgery on 07/16 and the procedure was successful! No complications and the hospital stay at Jefferson Methodist was the best experience. Dr. Rumer and/or her Physician Assistant made way to see me at least twice a day after the procedure. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience and nurses were all amazing. I'm so glad I chose Dr. Rumer as my surgeon because she didn't disappoint. * Update 8/28 * I just had my 6 week check up and everything has been amazing. I’m healing up very nicely and I’m blown away from the aesthetic appearance. Dr. Rumer has truly done an amazing job and her passion to help the Trans community definitely shows. I’ve been in contact mostly with Jen, the office manager and she has been very helpful. She’s always willing to go the extra mile to make sure my concerns are addressed and definitely professional. I’m so happy with my experience with Rumer Cosmetics. They’ve made me one of the happiest woman alive.

I just had top surgery in January. I had a pleasant experience with them. Everyone who has been saying. Do not go to her for transgender services. Need to grow up n get over themselves. Its EXTREMELY RIDICULOUS everyone has different ways of healing. Not only that but they're extremely busy. I have had them at times not return my calls. But I didn't get that upset. Since things happen. Like maybe the emails or calls ne or made it to the inbox. But it is POSSIBLE THAT its errors on ur end. Grow up n take responsibility!!! I was supposed to have surgery on dec 6th. But I didn't have it on that day. I misunderstood the things that were required. As far as a escort. I WAS A GROWN MAN TOOK RESPONSIBILITY!! I was extremely upset yes I even cried. But it was a small obstacle. After I got a friend that came with me as my escort. I had my surgery in January. They were NOTHING BUT pleasant. I think its wrong saying she is against the trans community. She was annoyed by my mistake but its understandable. She's a busy woman that has alot of surgeries to do. She was nothing but pleasant as well. Saying she will help me reschedule my apt. I would recommend them to another trans person. I have actually done so.

Today is my 6 month visit with dr.rumer all I can say is thank you thank you sooo much you and your team were there every step off the way many told me bad stories about her and guess what they were just that stories!!!
