Waste of a $40 copay. Went in for a skin check, they looked for 20 secs top. No wonder African Americans are more likely to die from undiagnosed skin cancer when the PAs and doctors take our money but don't do proper checks. I've had a skin check before somewhere else that was much more thorough than the quick glance I got here. So in other words I know when I'm being brushed off.

I will not be going back. After giving all my info about my family. I had a scalp Biopsy for hair loss, PA Molly advised it was Androgenetic alopecia but there's absolutely no family history of us balding. ALL OF US HAVE A HEAD FULL OF HAIR. Read the test results for myself and it's not even a diagnostic, it's supposedly possibly that condition. She prescribe me Spironolactone to take "to see" if it will work. I advised about my scalp itchy as well, she never addressed that issue. Overall, I would not recommended her to anyone. You may have luck if you see the actual doctors and not the PA.

Misdiagnosed when I had the shingles! They did not have the proper cultures to culture the area, they were supposed to call me when they had them, never did, and that’s been weeks!! Thankfully a wise Nurse Practitioner at Walgreens health center was able to PROPERLY diagnose. Don’t come to this shack, and do not recommend friends. Poor customer service, and even worse health care.

Don't judge a book by it's cover, in this case don't judge a derm office by their signage. I wasn't quite sure what strange cave of mystery lie beyond the no frills signage, but I went inside the derm cave anyway. It wasn't bad. The office had a modernized intake process with ipads instead of clipboards that I was able to take with me from waiting room to patient room as I completed my forms. Also, the staff was great. The greatest of all being Matt my PA. He was very kind and thorough. He entertained my pre-appointment research with grace and ease. We chatted like old friends catching up the whole appointment, and I felt smarter and more informed when I left than when I had entered. These people are wonderful!

Although the whole staff was very friendly and I felt like they listened to my issues, I am not fully satisfied with the appointment charges. My initial appointment was $65 for the consultation and application of the patch test. My second appointment was for the reading of the patch test. After the initial reading didn't show much, it was recommended to schedule a delayed reading for the following day. I inquired if there was an idea of a treatment plan moving forward and was advised once the delayed reading was completed, we could discuss treatment. This appointment was $45. During check out, I asked if I would be charged again for the delay reading and was advised there should not be a charge. After my delayed reading appointment, I was advised that because treatment was discussed, there would be another $45 charge. If the driving factor for the charge during my third appointment was treatment plan discussion, then why was I charged $45 on my second appointment? It makes me skeptical of the services provided by this office and wishing I would have just returned to the CVS minute clinic for a one-time $25 copay with the same Rx of hydrocortisone. Instead, I feel like I wasted $155.

Stella, the MA was the next person I had contact with & she thoroughly explain step by step what the MOHS procedure would entail & how long it would take. Yulia Khan, MD, was the physician that performed the procedure & she was professional, friendly & she also explained step by step what she would be doing. The office & the surgery room were extremely clean. I had a very pleasant experience.

I had a very disappointing experience with my dermatologist appointment after sitting in the office waiting room well after the appointment was to start. I asked if I was checked in, to find out what was taking so long. They informed me they were running 40 minutes behind and that I should not book on Tuesdays as they don't have enough doctors working on Tuesdays. They suggested I should reschedule if it was going to be an issue. I didn't consider this to be an appropriate attitude or explanation for a new patient and I also believe they should have informed me of how behind the doctor was running when I checked in an hour early at 9:30 for my 10:30am appointment. Or maybe since it is common knowledge Tuesdays is their day they run behind maybe space out the appointments more appropriately? -I live in the West Valley about an hour away. It wasn't a skip down the street I'd be happy to do again for giggles. I decided to cancel my appointment and find another dermatologist after waiting a bit longer. My cheif concern with this office wasn't the issue how late they were running however. I really wasn't pleased with the cleanliness of their office. The carpets were all very dirty, they have stains from water leaks on their ceiling tiles, most of their lighting in the waiting room were burnt out light bulbs, the waiting chairs were all dirty and very old, everything was very worn and dated(very 90s). The lack of attention given to the room EVERY patient has to wait in was very troubling to me. From my past experiences with dermatologist this is not the norm. This was not a place I would expect One Medical to refer patients. After being so happy with my experience with One Medical I have to say this was very disappointing. This office seems to be the exact antithesis of One Medical. One Medical, appointments start on time, the office is beautiful, clean, comfortable and designed to welcome. When I said I wanted to cancel and return my co-pay, I explained my issues with the office manager. She acknowledged the office was ran down and in need of a remodel but she said the dermatologist was really good. I informed her as someone who sees a dermatologist on a very regular basis, based on this experience, I wasn't wanting to book another appointment with them. She was cordial but repeated the "do not book on Tuesdays" which is a bit bizarre to me. They also never emailed or called to confirm the appointment. I had to call them the day before to confirm it was still on the books.

Do not use advanced dermatology. They come back and bill you for additional hidden charges...over a year later..pictures to prove..No explanation of benefits. Billing department rude over the phone. Since they are still sending me bills without the explanation of additional charges I will be filing a claon with the attorney generals office.

Doctor wasn't very helpful or possessed much knowledge on the subject, and facility had a damp old building odor. Was not treated or refereed. But at least I got the bill in the mail promptly.

Not recommended - the PA did not even bother to ask any questions to help determine a cause and instead provided some general diagnosis that made no sense with it being a chronic issue. Then the PA prescribed some medication as an after-thought.

I only gave the one star so I could leave this message. I saw someone by the name of Rod Hood who is not a Dermatologist. He prescribed Tazorac for my acne and dark spots on my face. Well after the first two nights my face was extremely tight, dry, flakey, burned, and red so I'm like OK, maybe it's because it's a new product so I'll give it two weeks oh my word, what an Awful, painful, emotional experience. I'm so disappointed that I trusted this man and I got messed up even more.

I have oily skin & started noticing that I was breaking out on my face (even on my neck in some areas) with more than a pimple here, a pimple there. The whiteheads, & some blackheads, were turning up all over my face everyday! No matter what I did, the breakouts were just uncontrollable. I was frustrated. I finally gave in & searched for a dermatologist here in Phoenix, AZ. After consulting with another doctor at my primary physician's office (my primary was out that day) & was evaluated, they approved me for the dermatologist. Michelle at AZ Advanced Dermatology was very nice & informative; she suggested I start using the generic version of Epiduo, (which worked for me in NY, but my insurance stopped covering it), Adapalene .01/ Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% topical gel. It really does keep my breakouts at bay. I'm relieved. And my insurance covers it. I really don't understand what goes through the mind of these thick headed medical assistants who can't even record appointment times. Dr. Hood was very thorough and realistic about my condition and was very careful as well. One of the Medical Assistants / Staff, I believe her name is Keena, was very helpful and went out of her way to make sure that my issue of switching to an equivalent Rx was resolved right away. It was extremely difficult to get a hold of the Phoenix clinic staff on the phone for days right after my visit (my prescribed medication was on back-order / out of stock), but as soon as I was able to speak with Keena, the issue was quickly resolved and I was also given instructions over the phone on how to use the medication for my specific condition. Overall I had a pleasant visit and the staff at the clinic were very helpful and efficient.

We all have been to physician offices where the person at the front desk was brusque, did not even look at you, or give you smile. The staff (and physician) at Arizona Advanced Dermatology were delightful and professional when I came for my appointment for MOHS surgery. From the front desk to the physician assistants, everyone made you feel welcome, were very careful prepping you for surgery and then extra careful when covering the wounds. They were careful to explain what they were doing. Dr. Khan is a special physician. My experience has been that most dermatologists do not spend very much time with you. Dr. Khan was just the opposite. She answered all of my questions, did a great job on closing the wounds, making the whole process relatively painless.

If you feel payment is off at checkout, let them run through your insurance and opt for payment later via mail. My first time there they insisted they did everything right, and I owed the full amount. I said send it through insurance and turns out my visit was completely covered. Second time I forgot to do that since I was in a hurry. I got notice from insurance it was covered but I paid. not happy about this at all. Easy to get in and easy check-in. Hard to get a hold of them via phone after you're out though. Took 2 days and 3 messages to finally get a call back that they called my prescription in. I got my biopsy results on a Monday, and it took them until Wednesday afternoon/3 voicemails to call my prescription in to the pharmacy. Extremely frustrating when I had symptoms for a month, had a couple doctor's appt, and finally had a result but still nothing to try on my skin.

Zero communication from these people. After not hearing from them for 4 weeks, I called them today to check on the status of my medication. For 18 months at 6 months appts I requested biopsy of suspect sites but Rod Hood PA continued to freeze them. I finally pushed to have two biposies done. They came back SCC Invasive. Rod Hood "scrapped" them out did no follow up biopsy or get markers. I am now having radiation therapy to both sites 5 days a week times 6 weeks. I've been going to Dr. Roenigk for years and he is the best dermatologist in the state, in my opinion. He knew immediately what medication was needed to clear up my sister's hands that were so hurtful from psoriasis and my scalp from the same ailment. We both had suffered for years. My sister has since become an angel but she always said Dr. R gave her 'liquid gold'! I know if Dr. Roenigk isn't available as he goes between offices, I can put myself in the hands of Dr. Hood who is also the best at what he does. I wouldn't hesitate referring anyone to this practice. Both doctors are personable and care for their patients. By the way, their staff couldn't be better. Their informative, efficient and most of all kind. I've said this in a couple reviews but do not say it lightly. Five stars, I say not ... how about all the stars in the sky!
