After such a horrific experience at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, St Lawrence had among the most caring, kind and compassionate nurses and doctors. The nurses spoke to you professionally and you could tell they enjoyed their job. The nurses and aides bent over backwards to make patients comfortable, address all needs and worked effectively with a team that diligently worked to get patients rehabbed and able to go home. The Physical Therapists were amazing. Even though the therapy hurt like crazy, the therapists were very compassionate and explained everything in detail. I was able to rehab fairly quickly due to ST Lawrence's amazing program.

The therapists were great and motivational. The inpatient social worker was very personable and helpful. I enjoyed my therapists, they pushed me to work hard. And I made big improvements on my flexibility and waking

St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center is a excellent facility! My recent experience exceeded my expectations immensely! My Physical Therapist, Leslie Marrazzo made my recovery process rewarding. Leslie, is patient, knowledgeable and dedicated to the field of Physical Therapy. I was very pleased with the results I achieved with Leslie. John Marsala my Occupational Therapist was truly awesome! Funny, committed and serious all in one. My functional skills have increased working with greatly working with John Marsala! I am very grateful for the remaining staff and faculty that have not been named. However, the reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is the negative experiences with some of the CNA's and Food Service employees. These people don't support the team effort shown by SLRC. They were very unprofessional, standoffish, disgruntled and very insensitive to the care and concern of those they are being paid to oversee. In conclusion I highly recommend SLRC to my family and friends and anyone seeking the best therapy!!! Thanks SLRC!!!

I'd give negative stars if I could, those who actually had a good experience here must not have had to stay/were outpatient only because there is no way in he*l this place should have a 4.6. My mom had major brain surgery and we chose this place based on the reviews for rehab (BIG BIG MISTAKE). Their neglect not only almost cost her life once, but twice!!! First time around she was on the third floor, was going through rehab fine, doing well, was supposed to be there 4 weeks yet they were releasing her after 10 days (not because of insurance) which I felt was extremely rushed. They were given specific instructions for post surgery medications that had to be followed perfectly by the neurosurgeon or she'd relapse. The last day she was there, they screwed up her medication according to her chart, she was barely coherent, dead weight like she never even went to rehab, she fell in the parking lot and it took several people to get her in the car and withing 2 hours of being home she had regressed so severely an ambulance was called and she was rushed to the hospital. Why in the world would you allow someone to leave in that condition?!?! After a few days in the hospital, fixing her post surgery medications and getting her stable they sent her back to rehab. She was on the second floor this time around. I wish I took pictures because the entire time she was here the second time, they did not wash her, did not change her diapers/sheets right away so she sat in her own waste, when they finally changed her, they left her sheets/diapers in a pile on the floor in the corner of the room. Because they did not bathe her everyday she developed an infection and fungal growth where her port was and we kept nagging them to get a doctor in to see her. She wasn't doing as well as the first time during physical therapy because of the relapse, dad left her on a Friday night at 9 and she was ok. He came back Saturday afternoon and she was pale as a ghost, laying in her own waste, hardly breathing, he had to fight to get someone in the room, she had a 103 temperature and my dad was so dumbfounded they did not notice she was clinging on to life/so ill since he had left and they didn't even rush to call an ambulance. He had to prompt them to. Because of this disgusting place and neglect, she got a UTI, bad skin infections from bacteria, pneumonia and contracted SEPSIS! She's been in the hospital fighting for her life for weeks, WE ALMOST LOST HER!! Went to pick up her stuff and the staff asked if she was coming back and we said absolutely not, she contracted sepsis and almost died. They weren't surprised ugh.... She is finally healthy enough to ago to a different/safer rehab. I greatly wish no one else has to go through this because it's been an awful time. She still isn't herself since before the first relapse. She's emotionless, blah and in a fog. Thanks a lot incompetent staff!

I would have given this facility no stars but I didn't have that option. My wife was discharged from the hospital and was brought to St. Lawrence under the auspices of this being a terrific place to do rehab. My wife had to use the bed pan and when she was done the nurse, not an aide, but the floor nurse removed the bed pan, spilling some on the sheet. She left it, didn't bother to clean it, put a pad on it, change the sheets or offer an apology. I informed the nurses aide who was willing to change the sheets, verbalize discontent with concern about the nurse's behavior and lack of action, and was concerned about going over her checkout time because the staff had a meeting about not getting overtime. In this profession you can't time things and caregivers should not have to be concerned about a couple minutes of overtime to change urine soaked sheets that someone else should have changed. My wife shifted down in her bed. The aide grabbed a maintenance man to help her readjust my wife. A maintenance man? It was determined by the floor nurse that my wife needed a catheter and had ME hold a flashlight so she could see what she was doing. It's humiliating enough to have to use a bed pan, but to have me stand there with a flashlight? At this point I stepped out of the room, called our daughter and told her to find us another rehab to transfer to. This is not the end of our experience at St. Lawrence. My wife was given an overdose of medication which caused her to start to hallucinate and she started to attempt to crawl out of bed. She had just had back surgery and should not have been moving that way. I had to pull up a chair to the side of the bed to try to keep her in. I pushed the nurses button several times for assistance. I could not move as my wife would have fallen out of bed if I had. After 15 minutes of trying to hold her there with no help, I called the outside line and told the switchboard operator what room I was in, that I needed help and an ambulance. I heard the operator page the nurse to call the switchboard. Only then did I get help. The ambulance arrived an hour later and we finally received the help we needed. Would I recommend this dump? Absolutely NOT.
