Nancy Boyd is not only a fantastic clinician, she’s also a knowledgeable and informative practitioner. I first saw Nancy for postpartum pelvic pain related to some birth trauma. She was so well Informed about what my muscles were doing or not doing and how to reduce and alleviate the pain through simple exercises. I definitely would not have been able to figure this out in my own. She uses bio feedback, and is a partner in the process of healing tissue and restoring strength, but her information was always very accessible and approachable. She also gave me fantastic work and resources to do at home, so that each time I saw her, we could both see and feel the progress being made. Pelvic pain and trauma may feel like it puts you in a vulnerable position, I know I felt that way. But Nancy is caring, compassionate and committed to positive outcomes, and I felt that each appt moved us in the right direction. I am happy to report that I didn’t even complete all my sessions, before my pelvic pain was relieved. The last few appts we worked on strengthening and awareness on releasing the tension in the muscles. As Nancy says, in an ideal world, every woman would receive a pelvic pain consult at 6 weeks postpartum. I wish I had, that’s for sure. But I’m very happy that I took the initiative to seek out help for my pelvic pain a few months later as it has made a huge difference in my quality of life, ability to hold urine between voids and comfort during intercourse.
I have returned to Nancy for help with some disc-injury related pain in my lower back, and we’re already off to another great start! I am so happy to work with such a smart and invested physical therapist!
