I broke my ankle while on vacation in Tennessee in June. I needed to follow up with an orthopedist, but was not scheduled to return to Maryland for another week and a half. I wasn't sure if I needed to come back early, so I was told by the office staff that I could overnight my X-rays to them for a doctor to review. It was a 90 minute round trip to get the X-rays and $40 to overnight them. I called the office several times over the next few days and finally got a call back, but they said they didn't have the X-rays. Someone in the office signed for them, but no one had any idea where they were. A few days later, after they failed to find the films, I gave up. I got a 2nd copy of the X-rays. By this time, I was due back in Maryland, so I took the 2nd set with me to my first appointment. They reviewed the film and wanted a new X-ray to see how the healing was progressing. While I was waiting to be taken to X-ray, a technician came in to look at my ankle. He spent a few minutes before someone came into the exam room and told the technician he was in the wrong room! Got the updated X-ray without further issues. They made no changes to my treatment, I was already in a boot, and scheduled a follow up appointment for 4 weeks. At the follow up they took another X-ray, made no changes to my treatment, and scheduled another follow up for 3 weeks. The boot was heavy and hot and caused a rash on my leg so I called the office before I was due for my follow up. When they didn't call me back this time, I cancelled my follow up appointment and went elsewhere for treatment. They called me today and left a message asking what I want them to do with my X-rays from June. They said if they didn't hear back from me they would discard them. Since they returned the X-rays I took to my first visit, these must be the films that I overnighted back in June! Never seen such an unprofessional, disorganized practice!
