I came for repeat rehab for my knee. I sincerely feel if I had started here initially after my arthroscopic surgery, I would not have needed additional services. You keep the same therapist through out your rehab. They have gym quality equipment. Everyone working there is the best. Kiddos to my therapist, Rachel, masseuse Kelly and the front desk staff.

I can’t recommend SSOR and Alex Bolin enough. I came in with severe lower back pain and by the time I left - in just a few months - I was not only feeling much better, but I had also built up a routine while working with Alex that allowed me to continue building core strength at home. I’m back to doing things I enjoy without pain and it’s thanks to Alex; he quickly established himself as knowledgeable and credible from the start. Trust in what I was doing was a big factor for me. After my stay at SSOR, there’s no place I would trust more in my rehabilitation.

They were great. I was struggling to squat pain free and had tried everything I could find. Korbyn had me fixed in 3 sessions over roughly a 3 week period. My only regret is that I waited so long to go see them.

Excellent experience!!! Very knowledgeable staff. Went out of their way to find the best solution without a bunch of appointments. Emailed me weeks later to check on me. Continued to help me through email free of charge. Fixed me up and I have had no issues since.

I searched high and low after my daughter's knee surgery to find the best physical therapist and I was told by a fellow PT at Children's Mercy that Daniel Lorenz is the best in the city. And that he is! He also only hires equally skilled PT's in his offices. My daughter had tried a couple others around town but she recognized immediately the difference in his techniques and approach. She was told 6-8months and he had her back on the volleyball court in 5 months. Once released, she also took advantage of sports performance training which has raised her confidence and body control on the court. She is actually stronger and more aware of proper movements that have helped her become actually better than ever physically. As you may gather, we highly recommend SSOR for all physical therapy needs. We have recommended other classmates as well as club players and they are all very impressed and happy with their progress. The SSOR staff are like family to my daughter and I can always breathe a sigh of relief knowing she is in great hands! Not much more a mother could ask for! They are truly a "hip" joint! :)

This place is awesome !!! They have a highly knowledgeable and friendly staff that is down to earth and genuinely cares about you! My first experience was working with them two years ago on a herniated disc in my lower back. I had worked with other trainers for about two month previously with no results and I don't think I would have ever made much progress if I hadn't came to these guys. My second experience was with rehabbing a labral tear in my shoulder this spring. I had been discourage about whether or not I could see any results from consultation from other athletic trainers but, these guys encouraged me, got me back on track, and got me back on to workouts on my own in a very timely manner. Overall they aren't going to try to get you to come in more than you need to or hit you with any hidden or extra charges. From my experience they want to get you better and back out as quick as healthily possible. I give a special thanks to Curtis and the rest of the Staff. Keep doing great work and thanks for all the help.

I would highly recommend SSOR- great place and the staff is first-class. After struggling with knee pain for over a year, I started PT with Adrienne Fox. Prior to my first visit I couldn't run, jump, even walk up and down the stairs long without feeling pain in my knee. Within 6 weeks of PT with Adrienne, I'm now back to doing all normal athletic activities and squatting without pain for the first time in over a year. SSOR has made a huge difference for me, thanks for everything!

Having been through my fair share of PTs in the last 20 years I can highly recommend the staff at SSOR. The staff and therapists are fun and welcoming. It makes you really want to come and work hard. I had to have rehab for a shoulder surgery. I had previously had rehab on my other shoulder at a different group (prominent in the Blure Valley area) who followed the same model every time. Show up, warm up, execise up, ice up and then go home. No supervision or correction as I worked. No partnership in my recovery. That experience left me with weakness and not great range of motion. Even to this day I don't feel 100% in that shoulder. Unfortunately this seems to be the model for much of what is considered physical therapy. However,it was not this way at SSOR. This time I was listened to, appropriately cared for, included as a partner in my rehab and most importantly functionally fixed! Fixed better than when it was a normal undamaged shoulder. Dan and his team of therapists have a true hands on mentality. Meaning they actually put their hands on you to help heal you. The soft tissue work they did was the single biggest contributor to my fast and strong recovery. Every time I would see them mobility of the joint and surrounding tissue was addressed, then range and then strength. When doing exercises they guided, cued and encouraged. My experiene was just like I have always thought it should be and wished it would be. I cannot endorse this group highly enough. I have had 1 ankle rehab, one knee, 1 elbow and 2 shoulders done. Far and away this was my single greatest success in rehab. SSOR not only strives for excellence but they truly attain it.

Adrienne Fox, my therapist, was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable! I would highly recommend her and SSOR for helping you with your physical therapy needs!

I came to SSOR because I was having a case of re-occurring plantar faciitis, and was about convinced that I was going to have to give up running all together. I tried everything - podiatrists who gave me oral steroids, cortisone shots, and orthodics, and I even stopped all working out except swimming for two months. The pain was not going away. Within a few short weeks of working with John Smith, the pain was virtually gone, and within two months John had me on a running program to ease me back into things. I have been an athlete my whole life, through high school, college, and since then have regularly trained for running/biking/mud run races. Although I tend to workout every day in some fashion, I learned that I was a "lazy athlete" - someone who does the workout, but never stretched or did strengthening exercises. Now I have incorporated the exercises/stretching into my routine, and feel great. I also learned that my orthodics, which were prescribed to me by a podiatrist when the Plantar Faciitis started in 2012, were one of the factors preventing the pain from going away. I am done with my therapy, but I feel empowered with knowledge on how to proactively prevent another onset of Plantar Faciitis. The other therapists and staff are very friendly and accommodating. Great group of people, great vibe in there! I highly recommend SSOR to anyone with a sports related injury - as well as any other reason to need PT.

My experiences at SSOR were great! I worked specifically with Korbyn. He was attentive and listened to the problems I was having. The treatments and exercises he provided me with have made a big difference. I would refer Korbyn and SSOR in OP to all.

David Sylvester

Where you go for PT makes a huge difference and Dan and his team are the best in the city for sports injuries. After an ACL and medial meniscus tear with a broken tibial plateau I spent over a year at another PT clinic because it was close to my house and I thought all PT was the same. I was doing everything I was supposed to in PT and on my own but I just wasn't making the progress my surgeon had told me to expect. After doing a lot of research I switched to SSOR and the progress I made in 2 months was better than what I'd been able to do in a year and they put me back on track for recovery. I just can't recommend SSOR enough.

Adrienne helped me with a basketball related calf injury. Using a variety of techniques (including dry needling!) she had me back on the court at full strength after 6 visits and 2.5 weeks. I've worked with a number of physical therapists over the years and she's one of the best - highly recommended.

I visited SSOR in late March to be treated for a problem with my right ankle and lower leg and also severe pain and weakness in my right shoulder. Because I am an active runner and swimmer, it was a high priority for me to be able to run and swim, especially at this time of year (spring/early summer). I saw Dr. John Smith to begin my therapy on 3/26. I was instantly pleased with the hands-on approach I saw with John and also the others therapists. SSOR utilizes hands-on treatment with rollers, massage and other tools. In addition, I was taught various exercises with bands, stretching, and manipulation and was encouraged to practice at home. To facilitate the in-home approach, many of the exercises were printed off with descriptions and pictures to ensure I got it right without a therapist present. The final key to my success was a written path to a return to running which outlined a daily and weekly progression to follow in order to effectively run and not become re-injured. We followed the same plan for swimming. The team also kept constant records of my strength and flexibility throughout the seven weeks. The constant measurements made me comfortable we were making steady progress. The administrative team was excellent to deal with. From appointment scheduling to insurance to billing I was treated well by the staff. They were friendly and definitely customer focused. I can tell you readers that this experience was the best I've ever had - by far - at a rehabilitation center (I've had 5 knee operations so I have been to plenty) and I would thoroughly recommend John and Dan and their entire team. I will take away a healthy ankle and shoulder and also many exercises that will benefit me in years going forward.

I've gone to SSOR a couple times, both far exceeding any expectations. I went first for strengthening my hips/core before needing a hip replacement. Most recently I went following a hip replacement, as well as strengthening of knee areas. JT was my therapist who did a great job! As a result I did a strenuous hike of Mt Sinai , 7500 feet, within 90 days after starting rehab. Staff was so kind as well, with flexibility as to scheduling.

I started seeing John Smith at SSORKC in November of 2013 after battling back, hip, and leg pain for over a year. A radiologist's read of a hip MRI conducted in December 2012 indicated no structural damage. I am very active and participate in softball, flag football, basketball, running, and cycling. I had just finsihed competing at the Natiional Duathlon Championships and qualified for Worlds 2014 but finally admitted I needed help with the pain. John worked with me for over 8 weeks and recognized that something wasn't right and urged me to see a hip specialist. After consulting with 3 orthopedic surgeons, John's suspicion was confirmed - torn labrum of the right hip (radiologist missed that in the December 2012 MRI). Surgey was scheduled for January 24, 2014 and John continued working with me right up to surgery. Five days after surgery, I resumed seeing John with the goal of competing at the National Duatlon Championships on July 19 in order to hopefully qualify for Wolds 2015 since I had to miss Worlds 2014. Plus, John knows that I want to return to all my other sports and tailored my physical therapy toward those goals. I recently had a 4-month post-op evaluation with John and because of the personal training program he provided, I passed with flying colors! I would higly recommend John Smith and SSORKC. Their personal attention is invaluable and has me back to doing the things I love.

Exceptional customer service - Jeanne was very warm and polite when I called today looking for someone to see me with my neck issues. She accommodated my scheduling needs right away. Tony was my therapist and he was everything you’d want in a therapist - competent, friendly and addressed my concerns effectively and efficiently. Great group of people that like each others' company!

Korbyn Steadman has been a great physical therapist. Helping me with my low back pain so I can get back to my active lifestyle.

I would recommend SSOR to anyone that has to go through any rehab. The entire staff is very friendly and caring for each of their patients. The staff is also very professional and knowledgeable. every time I had rehab it was the highlight of my day, I looked forward to going in to get my work done and talk with the other patients and staff. They are great at scheduling to where it is never crowded and are very flexible with your schedule.

Becca White

This facility did not follow doctors orders, and the way they treated me was unprofessional. They acted as if i did not know what I was talking about in regards to my own recovery. Cleared me too early and caused an extra month of pain and sitting out of sports.

Rich S

I was fortunate enough to be treated by Dan through serious neck, back, and knee injuries. I would trust Dan w/ any and all injuries I've sustained and often look to him for advice w/ day to day issues. Highly recommend Dan and his practice.

Stacy Sopcich

Before coming to SSOR, I had a low opinion of physical therapy. I have had lower back and neck issues for more than 20 years and every time I tried PT, things got worse instead of better. John Smith and the team at SSOR have not only changed my mind, they have changed my life. I came to SSOR at the six month mark after spinal fusion surgery. While the surgery successfully eliminated the sciatica pain I had been having, I still couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes or sit for extended periods without pain. John worked to identify the underlying issues causing my pain, implemented a course of intense soft tissue work and kept me honest about doing the necessary home exercises. After three months, I am in a good place, finally. It's remarkable how far I have come, and could not have happened without John's expertise. Physical therapy places are NOT all alike, it really makes a difference where you go. If you have been suffering from chronic pain, have had ortho surgery or a sports injury, there is only one place to go. SSOR. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that most health insurance plans do not require a referral to see a PT. You can just call and make an appointment for an evaluation. We have an HMO and our plan covers 100% of the cost of 60 visits a year. Sort of makes it a no brainer!

Dan Lorenz is an expert. He quickly diagnosed my problem, established a course of therapy and exercise and solved my problem. I'm now pain free. Each of the staff members are professional an experts in rehabilitation. Dan, knows all of their patients, their level of progress and where they need to go with their treatment. I can't recommend any group of therapist more.

After four years of chronic lower back pain that impacted every aspect of my life--from three epidural injections, SI injection, eight weeks of physical therapy (at another facility) with no relief, two Radio-frequency Ablations, and a Synovial Cyst removal--I finally found my way to SSOR. And now, after only two months of treatment, I am feeling much more like my old self, and am getting back to MY life. I know this may sound a bit sappy, but Curtis and staff are miracle workers. Curtis knows exactly which areas need manipulation, which areas need work, which areas need needling, and which areas need rest. His knowledge-base is incredible. His interactions with me are always professional, but at the same time, kind and understanding. I cannot recommend SSOR enough. They know what to do, and they care.

Karen Riepenkroger

I had a total knee replacement in August 2017 and at the suggestion of a co-worker I selected SSOR for the rehab and it was the best decision I ever made. I was assigned to Korbyn who has been excellent in helping me reach my goals of returning to the activities (excluding the running) I was doing prior to the surgery. It has been a great experience with the outcome I was expecting. Also, the staff at the front desk are outstanding. Again, special thanks to Korbyn for helping me reach my goals.

In just 6 visits with Adrienne, I am healed!! Many thanks to Adrienne who helped heal a pinched nerve that I suffered from for more than 9 months. She gave me practical exercises to correct my posture and a plan to maintain my progress at home. And if you haven't tried dry-needling, this is the place! SSOR is top-notch in physical therapy! Ask for Adrienne! She's the amazing!

Alex Volovoy

After my ACL surgery I started rehab at different practice. After few sessions where I was doing “textbook” exercises without much evaluation, I started searching for alternatives and was lucky to find SSOR. My PTs were Mallory Mahoney and Dan Lorenz. They are both extremely knowledgeable and great to work with. It was a huge difference and was definitely the right place to be. Now at 6 months, I'm slowly coming back to sports I did before injury and so far everything is going well. I’d definitely recommend Mallory and the whole SSOR staff. If you are stuck at the another place and feel like you’re not making progress, the least you can do for yourself is stop by SSOR and have them do a quick evaluation.

I received excellent care at SSOR! Would highly recommend. Dan took care of knee pain within two visits. I couldn't believe what was weeks of pain was solved in two visits and with simple yet strategic exercises. There was no need for a physician referral and I was able to get right in. Clean facility and very helpful and thoughtful staff. A+

Had total knee replacement in early November.First two weeks of home therapy, then 8 weeks with SSOR in Overland Park. Couldn't ask for anything better. Rachel (my Physical Therapist) brought me along with a series of exercises to regain excellent motion and strength. Will probably have another knee done in the future and will be sure to return to SSOR for rehab. If you want the best...go to SSOR in Overland Park.

SSOR is great and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Everyone that works there has been great and I always know I can trust them in helping me recover from my injuries.

Dan and his staff are the only people we trust to treat our daughter's hip and back after he successfully rehabbed my husband after a car wreck. They have a good selection of hours, and prices are reasonable for the expertise received.

I have been to therapy at several different facilities. Never have I seen the level of knowledge, skill, and patient focus that I found at SSOR. Unlike others, you will work with your therapist (not a rotating tech!) every time. They will bring expertise, creativity and genuine concern for you as a whole person to each session. JT was my therapist. I could not recommend him more highly!

Jeffrey Kail

I'm a runner and had been training for race but ended up with lots of pain in my foot. I was going to give up and not run, but I was able to quickly get an appointment with John Smith. John helped me figure out what was going on and gave me tools and exercises to help prevent the pain from coming back and keep myself healthy. I was able to complete my first ultra marathon thanks to John's help. I highly recommend his work and the practice.

I came to SSOR 12 weeks after surgery for a broken fibula and dislocated ankle. My physical therapist performed a complete evaluation at my first session, then began working with me to help improve the flexibility and mobility of my ankle joint, which was quite limited at that time. He helped me understand my injury and what was needed to stabilize the ankle and give me the ability to walk properly. Though my doctor said I could simply exercise at home, having supervision while I learned the proper way to exercise and stretch helped me know when I was on track and when I needed correction. The manual therapy, which included stretching and working the tissue around the ankle, helped reduce the swelling and soreness I was experiencing. Through the entire process I worked with one therapist, Curtis, which helped maintain continuity of my care and allowed us to build a relationship and work better together. The entire staff was friendly and professional, and I felt very welcomed and well cared-for. I would highly recommend SSOR to anyone needing physical therapy following surgery or an injury.

My experience was very pleasant considering my injury. Scheduling was easy and Adrienne my PT was knowledgeable and she really cared about my well being and my recovery. HIGHLY recommended it. My recovery was quick thanks to their help!

I could not move freely and confidently: sleep was difficult, getting dressed an ordeal, moving into and out of cars awkward and the option of taking the stairs became a non-option. My physician staff recommended SSOR KC physical therapy. What a great reference that was and how fortunate for me that Mallory Mahoney was assigned to work my case! Mallory helped me right away become comfortable with therapy and with being at SSOR KC. I was new to all of this, and she did a great job explaining everything along the way: ensuring I became familiar with the staff, comfortable with my surroundings and the support equipment and most importantly committed to working the program we would build together. Mallory’s communication was outstanding. We spoke frequently about what the issues were and how we were going to address them. We kept up to date discussing how I was doing and what changes there were in my symptoms and in my condition. Mallory was great at using that information to refine my recovery program and tailor it to what it needed to be next – which was taking the next steps toward loosening my movement and strengthening my step. Mallory always encouraged me. She made certain I felt no mystery with the program and what we were doing. Always focusing on the positives, Mallory would lead discussions about setting goals and making progress. She made sure I knew exactly what I was supposed to be doing until our next visit. She demonstrated each exercise and reminded me of why form was an important element of the exercise. Mallory would challenge me and she would remind me that at the end of the day – the success of this program was really all up to me. . . Mallory had a great attitude. She remained positive, pleasant and professional throughout the program. Mallory maintained her focus set on my condition, the program we were working and how I felt about it all. At the end of the day I left SSOR KC with the knowledge that Mallory was looking out for me and doing all she could to help me improve my prospects for a quality life. Mallory did a wonderful job with my recovery program! My movement improved and my step became solid. The exercises and stretches Mallory chose for me are continuing to this day to make a positive difference in my physical abilities. I am very grateful for the weeks of time and attention she shared with me. I strongly recommend working with Mallory Mahoney for physical therapy support to help get life back on-track. Mallory is a proven professional, an exceptional individual and a simply “awesome” physical therapist! Thanks Mallory!

I had been training for a Marathon for about 6 months and was within a month of the race when I got a shin splint in my right leg. I tried to run through the pain but was unable to complete several of my training runs. I read all I could about shin splints and tried every home treatment option I learned about. When I was 2 weeks out I tried to run 16 miles and had to pull up at 5 miles. I decided to pull out all the stops to make the race and found SSOR on line. I made an appt and Korbyn treated me. He understood that I was trying to get well enough to run a race and created a treatment plan to meet this goal. He treated me and suggested I go home and take a short jog. I did so with very little pain. I decided to do one more treatment and ended up with almost no pain with a week remaining until the race. I was able to complete the marathon and come very close to my goal time. I'm convinced without Korbyn's help I would not have been able to finish the race and would have to start all over with my training. Thanks and great work Korbyn!

After approximately a month of experiencing both shoulder and neck pain, I finally resorted to the fact that my injuries weren't going to fix themselves. I made an appointment with Curtis Kempton at SSOR and I am so grateful that I did! First and foremost, they were able to see me quickly and after a handful of appointments, I was nearly pain-free and my mobility had improved greatly. Not only did I feel so much better after my treatments at SSOR, but I left there equipped with exercises and stretches to help prevent my injuries from reoccurring. I cannot say enough good things about the quality of care at SSOR. I am back to exercising and lifting weights as if the injuries never happened. Thank you, Curtis!

I've been a patient of SORTS for at least three years. They are friendly, experienced and caring. Korbyn S is my therapist. I have the utmost confidence in him.

I honestly don't know where to start with this office without rambling or gushing. I made an appointment due to hip pain and Dan accurately diagnosed me with a labral tear with FAI in my right hip. After he referred me to Dr. Wingerter for an X-ray to confirm that I did not have a stress fracture, we got right to work. I have worked with both Dan and Jake throughout my treatment. In a month I was able to walk without pain. I am almost finished with my treatment and I will be running again soon. From the moment I made the appointment I knew I had come to the right place for treatment. Because of Dan and Jake I will not have to have surgery and I will be running again in less than three months of treatment. The atmosphere of the office resembles a sports training camp, with athletes of all shapes, sizes and ages working out with their therapists beside them. Classic rock is piped in from the surround sound and Dan is hovering around each patient, like a pumped-up football coach, making you laugh while you use resistance bands to do 'clams'...And like any coach worth his salt - Dan is there pushing you closer towards total recovery so you can go back to enjoying the activities that you love. If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of being injured or in pain - you will not find a better place to receive treatment. -Laura

Rachael at SSOR has been wonderful for my pre- and post-shoulder surgery rehab. She shares my passion for athletics and competition and understands the importance of getting me back to my sport.

Bethany Rogers

I've known Dan as a colleague for about 5 years now. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in many settings, and is an excellent physical therapist and athletic trainer. I have had multiple athletes treated by Dan and each has had a successful and positive experience. Dan doesn't only treat the "problem," he addresses the cause of the problem to help prevent the problem from reoccurring. Even though he is farther away now that he started SSOR, if I have an athlete who needs physical therapy I highly recommend the trip down to see Dan. Bethany Rogers, ATC

SSOR is by far the best physical therapy practice in the KC area. I have had my fair share of injuries (too many to count) in the past and no place compares. After working here as an aide, I was able to meet and get to know the AWESOME staff. Every therapist is incredible and the front office staff will always brighten your day. The place is filled with laughter and joy, which makes it a relaxing and stress-free environment to have pt. I decided to choose SSOR for my pt following hip surgery. With a little soft-tissue work and a strict home program, SSOR put me on the right track to recovery. I am currently working with a pt in Denver and she was incredibly impressed with how far I have progressed for being 5 weeks post-op. This I can only say is possible because of the incredibly talented staff at SSOR. If you're needing a pt in KC, this is the place to go - give them a call!

Marc Tower

SSOR exceeded every one of my expectations for physical therapy following an ACL reconstruction. I drove thirty minutes each way to get to the clinic, and never once considered it an inconvenience. Every minute of my commute was worth it. The therapists, especially Dan, spent ample time ensuring I was comfortable and progressing properly. I have seen other Physical Therapists, but now wouldn't ever consider going to anyone else. They very much care about each patient and every therapist was extremely knowledgeable. I'm now fully recovered, have confidence in my knee, and am so thankful my surgeon recommended SSOR. Hands down, it was the best healthcare experience I've had. Go there!

JT Christian

Simply put, Dan Lorenz is one of the best physical therapists in the Midwest. As a high school and collegiate athlete I suffered several debilitating injuries that called for physical therapy. During that time, I had the opportunity to work with a number of different physical therapists, none of whom came close to reaching the level of knowledge, attention to detail, and practical application skill as Dan Lorenz. Whereas other clinics and therapists simply read the doctor’s prescription and gave me cookie cutter programs to strengthen my rotator cuff, Dan made a thorough evaluation of my injury and then developed a program specific to my individual needs. The results speak for themselves: I spent 3 months basically wasting my time at the other clinics, while it took less than a month of working with Dan to get back on the courts. If you are serious about getting better, look no further than Dan Lorenz and his colleagues at SSOR.

Dawn Murphy

SSOR is GREAT!! Korbyn had my daughter back on the field after her ACL surgery in no time.. They truly care about their patients. I would highly recommend SSOR

Stephanie McCabe

Dan and his staff are friendly and helpful but not afraid to make a patient work to get better. I was assigned "homework" - bodywork which improved my day to day living quality when I performed and which I missed when I did not. I always left the facility feeling like my pain would eventually end and Dan was very attentive to my need to get back to my sport and my regular life. I would recommend this facility to anyone anxious to recover full range of motion, to anyone who wants freedom from pain, and to anyone who is willing to work to achieve both goals!

Doug Erich

SSOR is great and highly recommend them! Dan, Curtis, and tea, are a very caring and professional bunch and get you back from illness or injury as quickly as possible. I am a "desk jockey" and have had lingering lower back issues for nearly one and half years, and went to several care providers for help but nothing ever addressed the root problem. Curtis was able to isolate my pain points and provide therapy and exercises to strengthen those areas and make them stronger while substantially reducing my pain. I now have more flexibility and strength then I had before I came to SSOR. This group is good!

Marc Helfer

The best? Dan and his team were my first choice to lead my shoulder rehab, and they've far exceeded my expectations. Even just a few weeks into rehab, my shoulder started to feel more solid and strong, which was an unexpected surprise after weeks of immobility. I've worked with a number of physical therapists over the years, but SSOR are in a league of their own. Their impressive experience and education really give them a thorough understanding of the injury and rehab process. They easily have my vote as the best in the Midwest. Why settle for less? I wanted the best care to regain the highest quality of life, and Dan and Curtis planned and executed a rehab program that worked fast and efficiently. I'd say it worked mostly painlessly too, but these guys have a habit of finding tight muscles quicker than Marcus Allen running through a defense - and that was pretty darn fast. Not just superficial tight muscles, but deep muscles that are next-to-impossible to get to. They see it, feel it, test it, and fix it. I love their approach and I love my results. Just give them a call to see if they're a good fit for your injury. You'll be in a great hands with highly trained and trusted professionals.

As with every choice in healthcare, who you pick as your physical therapy provider does make a difference. Dan and his team at SSOR have extensive orthopedic and sports medicine related experience and it shows in the patient experience and outcome of services from his clinic. I have referred three of my neighbors who had children(ages 7-15) all needing physical therapy services. All three of them had uncommon diagnosis/injuires that when I researched, very few providers in the Kansas City area had even heard of let alone had actual treatment experience. All three of them had extremely positive experiences and thanked me on multiple occasions for referring them to SSOR and allowing their children to get back to what they loved most---playing sports! I had the pleasure to work with Korbyn. He helped me recovering very fast from a very bad ankle fracture, which resulted in an orif surgery. My ankle was very sore, stiff and I was still on crutches, when I went to see him for the first time. He got me to walk within 2 weeks, and now after a month of intense physical therapy, I can move around easily. Today was my last session with him. He took the time to set up a full rehabilitation plan that I could easily follow at home for the next 3-6 months, just to make sure I continue to recover steadily. I really appreciate his work ethic, full commitment to the patient and fun personality. Korbyn, thank you so much for taking care of such a needy patient!

Everyone at this facility was fantastic.

I've appreciated flexibility with scheduling and the emphasis on at-home exercise programs to minimize the need for in-clinic visits. I've benefited from my PT's knowledge to address my current pains, but also to give me overall insight into my own body build and how to strengthen most effectively.

I would like to thank the entire staff at Specialists in Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation and in particular John Smith for their professionalism and depth of knowledge. One month before I was to run my first ½ marathon at Hospital Hill I strained a glute muscle and needless to say I was extremely disappointed in the very real possibility that all my training would have been negated by an overuse injury. On my very first visit John assessed the severity of my injury along with other areas of concern and formulated a plan to help me achieve my goals. Along the way he’s been patient while encouraging me to make strides, informative to the point that I understand the process of treatment and I become better equipped to avoid injuries in the future, and jovial while staying in the context of the utmost professionalism. Moreover the attention to detail is admirable especially when factoring in treatments that span weeks and months. John has been at the forefront of my rehabilitation noting my progress every session and customizing it if he feels certain remedies aren’t facilitating the recuperation in a timely fashion and addressing new running injuries that are introduced through my own grueling training regimen. I highly recommend Specialists in Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation for individuals that need informed professionals to diagnose injuries, formulate a goal oriented action plan, and provide support and assistance in realizing a timely recovery. The atmosphere is relaxed yet tailored in such a fashion that a plethora of treatments can be administered under careful supervision. I look forward to not only completing my treatment with John and the staff but utilizing their wealth of knowledge in the future for any other activities I wish to pursue. Thank you all at Specialists in Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation, I truly appreciate everything you do.

SSOR really helped me conquer rehab when I blew my knee out, and has gotten me back to playing college volleyball. Dan Lorenz, and the whole staff of SSOR made my 6 month journey fly by. I would truly recommend him to anyone that is looking for the best physical therapy out there!

Mark Winters

My 11 year old son was struggling with lower leg and foot pain anytime he participated in physical activity. This was obviously a stressful time for us as parents since we could not come up with any medical reason for the pain. We saw Curtis at SSOR and were immediately put at ease by Curtis' ability to communicate to both us as parents and to our 11 year old son. Our son truly enjoyed the therapy sessions with Curtis and we began seeing improvement after only a few visits. Currently, our son is participating in multiple sporting activities and experiences ZERO lower leg and foot pain. We will continue to recommend friends and family to Curtis and the entire SSOR team.

David Pruente

I met Dan and SSOR about a year ago and really enjoyed the energy he brought to his new small Overland Park business. I enjoyed our conversations and his personality but never thought I'd need to see him professionally....Then I tore my hamstring and got to see him every week for a few months! Dan was great to work with and set me up with a program that allowed me to do most of my rehab at home on my own(and saved me a little $$). I wanted my leg back to normal as quick as possible and with Dan's help I was back at full speed in no time...Hamstrings can stay with you a long time and never really heal correctly, but thanks to Dan and SSOR I've been 100% for a long time now and haven't even thought about my hamstring in months.

Mona Prickett

Korbyn Steadman in the Overland Park location, was great to work with. This is my family's 2nd time using this facility. Both times have been successful and we saw results quickly. Radial Head fractures SUCK and PT hurts, but I would not have been able to return to normal duties as quickly as I did without PT. Thank you

William Fredrickson

Blew out my left knee last April - ruptured patellar tendon. Following surgey SSOR did a fantastic job of helping me regain full strength and mobility of my knee. Especially Dan, he is the best. If you ruprture your patellar tendon, he's the one to see. All seriousness aside, if you need rehab - sports related or not but they specialize in sports injuries - this is the place to go.

Jen Schlicht

After two orthopedic surgeons, a surgery. three physical therapy clinics (including one my dr called "for athletes only"), a broken femoral nerve and numerous tests, I was told that my last resort to solving my chronic patellar tendon pain and quad weakness was to see Dan Lorenz at SSOR. My doctor said "if Dan can't fix you, I'm not sure there's much else we can do." I had tried EVERYTHING and what would one more physical therapist hurt? I couldn't have been more surprised by my experience. After my initial visit Dan narrowed down the cause of all of my problems and encouraged me to trust him that this would work. As hopeless as I was that anything could help me, I went with it. And I'm so glad I did. In just shy of 4 months (about 10 visits) I am FINALLY back on a running plan. After over three years and all of the pain and tears, I'm on a running plan. I AM ON A RUNNING PLAN! Dan's mettons at SSOR are unlike the typical PT clinic. He did quite a bit of soft tissue work in addition to a very specific and layered strength training program. He didn't make me come as many times as I could afford, but gave me very specific things to do at home with periodic check ins for reassessment. This was also the first time anyone has actually measured my strength deficiencies in a way that was meaningful. My biggest disappointment in this whole experience is that Dan was not the first stop on this long journey. Please, save yourself the time and frustration and just start with Dan from the beginning.

Caitlyn Kidwell

I wouldn't go anywhere else for PT. Scheduling is easy, and the quality of care is unlike anywhere else in the area. Korbyn went above and beyond, and I can't recommend him enough.

Margo Stratton

Korbyn Steadman PT, DPT treated my leg tendonitis that had become so debilitating I couldn't get out of bed without screaming. With specific exercise, correction on standing, bending, walking and dry needling, I have recovered about 80% in several months. I had a hip replacement years ago and did not rehab properly then, so I needed treatment now. He is knowledgeable, professional and nice, inside and out. I highly recommend SSOR and Korbyn.

Lori Driskell

I recently work with Korbyn for lower back pain that I had been having for several months and he did several different things during therapy and had me doing certain exercises at home. I am amazed at how quickly he relieved the pain in my back. He is great at what he does!

Daniel Schulte

This place is more than just another physical therapist office. The staff is above and beyond caring and makes sure they tend to your needs and wants. I worked with Korbyn and Kenzie who are personable and very knowledgeable in their field. Thanks guys!!

Rick Worrel

Dan and his staff at Specialists in Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation saved me a few thousand dollars avoiding lower back surgery. After a handful of visits that included stretching and core exercises the pain from the slightly bulged disk was gone. The stretches and exercises are simple and can be done at home in case the pain returns. Throughout the visits, Dan explained how the exercises were designed to eliminate the pain and demonstrated each for propert technique. I also learned Dan has a passion for youth sports injury prevention. He worked with my 12-year-old daughter and created a workout program for her and me to train together. Her core strength has significantly improved enabling her to increase her speed and agility. I've been able to continue my core strengthening to mitigate future back pain. Dan's energy and passion is contagious. I'd definitely recommend visiting with him before having any ortho surgery. If you have a young athlete, I'd suggest having Dan assess foundational strength before undertaking and wasting money on skill and agility training.

Steve Francis

I recently had a total knee replacement due to long standing athletic injuries. Dan Lorenz and Curtis have done a great job in getting my knee back in shape with great equipment, location and unequalled professional credentials. I got right in and you can see why so many Kansas City professional athletes work with Dan.

Randy Staats

After spending the last 10 years living with nagging shoulder and lower calf pain (left over from years of playing competitive sports) I went to SSOR to get some advice on how to treat it. John quickly diagnosed some strength and flexibility imbalances and within weeks of performing a routine of prescribed exercises, I was already feeling better than I had in years. Now it's been a few months working with John and I'm happy to report that I have no pain and can pursue the physical activities I enjoy without the pain. Thanks John and SSOR!

Chris Sylvester

I had an amazing experience from the ladies in the front to the PT specialists in the back. As a firefighter I need to be healthy and ready to go. I had a few issues but they fixed me right up. I will trust them in the future to fix my needs if some should arise.

Katrina Radenberg

I learned about SSOR through a colleague who had worked with Dan and had so many good things to say I decided to check this place out after I hurt my shoulder working out. I had no idea what the problem was or how to fix it and I was completely impressed with everyone at SSOR. I specifically worked with Korbyn, and within even just one week I was making progress. I'm very active, so sitting at home resting was not an option. From the start, Korbyn made it clear that his goal was to help me progress and teach me what I needed to do on my own to get to 100%. It only took 6 sessions to get me back out there on my own. This is the first time I have done PT and wanted to keep going back and wasn't wondering how much longer I had to keep going. He was awesome to work with, and felt like he was consistently working to get me back to all the things I love to do, not telling me all the things I shouldn't do. I also think it's important to note that Dan works closely with all of the therapists and you can see the evidence of that. Even if he isn't working with you he knows what's going on with you. A lot of owners say they are hands on, but you can absolutely see it here. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, it's definitely going to be my new first call when I get hurt. This is also the first time I have ever been so impressed with a place that I actually took the time to write a review. Thank you so much to Korbyn and everyone at SSOR!

Erin Burvee

Kristopher Andersen

Best therapist I have ever been to!

Sharon S.

Worked before and after total joint replacement with Korbyn at SSOR. He is compassionate, knowledgeable and patient. Through our sessions he was able to help me achieve a good outcome and range of motion. I believe he genuinely cares about his patients and would highly recommend working with Korbyn.

Patrick LeCluyse

Dan & Korbyn have been a tremendous help in my recovery & training. I was able to get in quickly for dry needling sessions thanks to the helpful front desk. Both PTs took the time to talk through my case/issues, address the problem area and get prompt results. Certainly happy to have come across SSOR and their team.

Taner Neighbors

Dan and Tony did an incredible job of helping me out to heal my torn Achilles tendon. I had a new procedure done at Kansas City orthopedic institution and these guys really have become experts on the new technology that his hit the orthopedic world. I also thought it was really cool that I got to meet a world famous athlete that was also being treated in the same office right next to me! I ran into him at a later point, he also had incredible things to say about the Dan Lorenz. Keep up the good work guys, you deserve all the business you can handle!!!

Kevin Gardner

Had several sessions with Adrienne Fox. Attended for one reason and she showed me what the real problem was. The goal I told her I wanted to reach before softball season started was met. She rehabbed my injury, increased my strength, and challenged me to get better each session. Thoroughly pleased with the facility, the to staff and exceptionally pleased with Adrienne's knowledge, positive motivation skills, and overall ability to convince me how to keep myself fit.

Ann Blalock

I've gone to SSOR for two separate issues (shoulder and hip) and always felt like I received 5 star treatment. Korbyn, my PT, is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and just plain fun to be around. He made going to PT a painless process. I would recommend Korbyn and the entire SSOR team to anyone that is looking for sports or injury rehab.

Jared VanLandingham

Korbyn is the best.

Heather Bates

My son worked with Dan earlier this year to get further rehab prior to returning to soccer after a leg fracture and failed attempt with other therapy to fully regain his strength. Dan does a great job understanding where the weaknesses are and how to progress above and beyond. He knows when to push while still being aware of the difficulty and pain often associated with rehabilitating from injury and the drive athletes have to get back out there. He will shoot it to you straight and get the job done. It's a good atmosphere to train in and you can tell he really takes pride and enjoyment in every person he works with. I highly recommend the therapy you'll receive at SSOR!

Kent Rockwood Tyler

I 'shopped' around for physical therapy places. Went to four to check them out. Met with the therapist at each place 'eye to eye.' I picked SSOR. Korbyn is my therapist. He's awesome. But everyone at this location is awesome and very helpful. Recommend them highly.

Julie Smith

I have been to several PT offices and SSOR is by far the best. The staff is very friendly and my therapist, Tony Hentzen, was awesome. He listened to my issues and was very informative. I started out with what I thought was a shoulder issue but he eventually helped diagnose additional issues with my neck. I feel so much better! Thank you Tony

Kevin Bailey

Emma Kruger

All the staff here are wonderful to work with! Adrienne was my therapist and was fantastic! The therapists are very helpful, listen to everything and communicate with my doctor at all times. This was a great experience! Flexible appointment times, morning and evening to fit a busy schedule. They focus on more than just the injured area to strengthen supporting muscles. If I need physical therapy again, this will be my first choice!

mercedes aguirre

If you need therapy, a massage Or needling SSOR in Overland Park is the place to go. It is an awesome place. The staff is extremely caring, professional but also down to earth, supportive, knowledgeable and respectful. I am working with Korbyn he is the greatest!!! I can’t boast enough about him. I have been working with him for a while, since my back surgeries and he is an amazing person and Physical Therapist. He has helped me get stronger as well as educated me on the exercises and what to do and not to do. Just a Fantastic place....

Daniel Mauro

Before coming to SSOR, I had been struggling with hip and lower leg pain for almost two years, inhibiting me from doing any of my usual activities. I had spent over a year at another physical therapy and seen a chiropractor, a sports medicine doctor, and a physiatrist with no solution to my leg pain. Understandably, I walked into my first visit downbeat and with no hope of running or even doing everyday tasks pain free. However, after only ten short minutes with John Smith everything changed. John suspected hip FAI, and he sent me in the right direction. After visiting with an orthopedic surgeon, I was told surgery was the only way to fix it. I went through with the surgery and returned SSOR for my recovery. Although the recovery process was not easy, I always enjoyed my PT appointments because of how kind and motivating everyone there was to me. SSOR is without a doubt the best physical therapy place in the area. Whenever I encounter someone struggling with a sports related injury I tell them about SSOR because it is just that good. Thanks to all the help and support from the people at SSOR, I am currently running without any pain. Less than four months after my surgery I was able to do all my usual activities even better than before! I am so grateful for SSOR. I encourage you if you are struggling with an injury give SSOR a chance; you won't regret it.

Dan Lorenz is one of the premiere physical therapists in the country. His skill set and knowledge base are exceptional and Dan is driven to continually stay on top of cutting edge PT techniques. His passion for physical therapy and personal attention to patient care is evidenced by his success and outcomes.

Jack Casey

I came into SSOR unable to move my shoulder after suffering an injury while playing rugby. I was invited to a camp which was three weeks after the injury. Dan and Mallory gave me the tools and pushed me to be able to go to this camp. They truly cared about my well-being, while understanding my goals. I am truly grateful for their work, and I will make sure to stop by again to thank them and catch up with them.I would recommend them to anyone I know. I truly believe that they are the best.

Michael Martinez

I was introduced to SSOR by my work colleagues who had been clients themselves for many years. I worked with Dr. Tony Hentzen for nearly 3 months recovering from a torn pectoral tendon. There is no doubt my time table for recovery was reduced significantly by working with Tony. Tony is very knowledgeable and personable, helping make the road to recovery as open and comfortable as possible. Dr. Hentzen, along with the SSOR team, has a creative brain for developing and implementing the most up to date rehab techniques. After spending three months working with Dr. Tony Hentzen, I can confidently say that I will be a client of SSOR for life (of course, I am hoping to remain healthy, but if a problem arises, SSOR is the place)!

Melanie Heinrich

Kurt Junger

Great knowledgeable staff. Not satisfied with treating you, they want to fix your problem.

Rosanne Rosen

I selected SSOR because of the reviews I saw on Google. Adrienne was my therapist and I have to agree with some of the other comments posted -- she is terrific. Professional, enthusiastic, and motivating. She gave me exercises to do at home which have definitely helped. I had cracked my elbow and she has been a tremendous help in getting it back to close to 100%. I still have some work to do; however, today was my 'graduation' day. I highly recommend SSOR. Their facilities are clean, bright, parking is easy and the staff is very friendly and professional.

qtktlyn W

Before seeing John Smith at SSOR I was having a terrible time with my costochondritis. I was having continuous chest pain, difficulties breathing and could not even perform basic chores. After only 6 weeks I honestly feel like I'm back to normal and perhaps in even better shape than I was before, especially mobility wise. If I ever have another need to return to a physical therapist I will definitely be going back to SSOR and I would refer any of my family or friends to any of the therapists there as well. Thank you again John for all of your help and to the kind and friendly staff of SSOR.

Aaron Fountain

I have been in physical therapy on and off for many years due to lingering knee issues. I have been to many clinics and I feel that I am a fair judge when it comes to a quality physical therapist. Dan has been by far the best therapist I have seen. You can tell that he has a true passion for the field of physical therapy and it shows in his care of his patients and work ethic. He is also a leader in the field of physical therapy. He has helped me rehab from a knee scope and now a serious knee surgery and things are going great! Best PT in KC!

Lori Jorgensen

Great place for pyhsical therapy! Staff is super friendly and dedicated. They also have a great masseuse!

Mike W

My wife and I have benefited greatly from the PT we've received from John Smith at SSOR. My wife came with severe hip pain and I came with shoulder and back pain. John's technique using pressure on soft tissue areas of pain relieved a significant amount of pain after our very first visits. The prescribed exercises pinpointed exactly what we needed, and even though it hurts to do them (especially the foam roller I used on my back to loosen my extremely tight upper back, and especially the resistance bands used by my wife to strengthen her hamstrings and glutes), we both found that when we did them as prescribed, we improved our functioning every time. In fact, my increased flexibility and strengthening led to an increase in my golf driving distance farther than I've ever achieved before. We highly recommend SSOR. We both had done PT previously at other places, but did not have positive experiences, or as much relief from pain. SSOR exceeded our expectations.

Anne Stith

I recently worked with Korbyn to rehab a shoulder that had been hurting for months. He created a workout we used during our sessions and gave me exercises to do at home in between appointments. He is personable and professional and now several weeks later my shoulder is pain free. Great therapist, great experience!

Maddie Barber

I am not from Kansas at all, but I was in KC for an internship this summer and needed some PT. I searched this on Google and it captured my attention with the wonderful reviews more than any other PT in Kansas City. I worked with Korbyn to get back to running after a long and dark 8 months of not being able to due to a stress fracture. I only got to work with him for 6 weeks but I am now cleared to run and pain free! I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone looking.

Rick Lane

Dan Lorenz took care of my 14 year old daughter. When we went to Dan, he immediately knew what was wrong with her knee before we had the MRI images. He is very humble and yet his accomplishments are incredible. His education, articles, teaching and understanding of injuries set him and his staff apart from others in the Kansas City area. The pace and the goals that he set with my daughter were met with 100% satisfaction. We would highly recommend SSOR to our friends and family.

Cindy Martens

Great place for PT. Personal attention and knowledgeable staff. Clean environment . Nice to have a place to go for PT that isn't swarming with people where you feel like you're just another patient.

Krista Ware

SSOR has a very friendly and positive office. Jeanne was great to set an appointment and always greeted me when I came into the office. Thank you Chastity for staying on top of insurance----I know working with insurance is quite a challenge. I had a flare up and needed to come back to PT. I had already used my 25 allowed visits/insurance for the year. A BIG THANK YOU to Chastity for persevering to get an additional 6 visits which was much needed and much appreciated. Korbyn, my PT, is very professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and cares about his patients. He always listened to all of my concerns, questions and addressed them on the spot. Korbyn explained in detail what was going on with my hip and IT Band. He gave me a routine of exercises and a lot of helpful tips of what to do and not to do! Thank you Korbyn, for everything you have done for me...we made a lot of progress and I'm back to par!....you made PT enjoyable! I would highly recommend SSOR to family and friends. The communication from the initial phone call to make an appointment to insurance and patient care is phenomenal. SSOR's staff is very caring and efficient. Krista Ware

Ron Henkhaus

I would recommend SSOR in Overland Park for both physical therapy and massage therapy. They have proven to be very knowledgeable and caring, and have provided extremely helpful therapy for a number of my needs and problems; including therapy before and after a total knee replacement, sciatica, and spinal stenosis in the neck. I have had occasion to use their massage therapy services as well, and on top of being excellent, the massage therapist and physical therapists communicate to provide better services in both areas. The administrative staff must also be commended for their ever friendly and facilitative scheduling and help with insurance.

Marty Albright

Very professional and skilled staff. Korbyn did a great job for me. Would highly recommend.

Chris Thorendahl

My left knee had been giving me issues which kept me from running. My knee pain worsened over time and I was recommended to visit John at Specialists in Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation. He did a great job of explaining my issue and setup a specialized program for me. I began feeling better just after a couple of weeks. One thing I really liked is he was quick to answer my questions and reply to my e-mails. John got me back to running pain free.

Johanna White

My daughter was referred here from her college after back surgery. The therapist released 3 weeks early against doctors orders. Therapist Korbyn did not follow up with surgeon during the whole process and it took the surgeon multiple times to get a hold of therapist. They only did speak after we had to called ourselves for clarification of her restrictions. Releasing my daughter early to pitch causes aggravation of L4-5 and nerve pain down the leg. I asked to speak to the owner and was left a message from Dan. He said there was no need to call him as he was not involved in my daughters case. Very disappointed in how much we paid for therapy and not even being able to discuss a concern with the owner. If you want good therapy that communicates with your surgeon post op I DO NOT recommend them. Johanna White

I went to SSOR for ankle rehab after a pretty serious ankle injury. I worked with Curtis and only have positive things to say. Curtis is obviously very knowledgeable and knows the right techniques to get the job done. I felt very confident and well-cared for when going to SSOR and would definitely go back in the future if I injure myself again.

Kelly Johnson

Curtis Kempton and the team at SSOR were fabulous. I was experiencing chronic sciatic nerve pain that developed over many years. After having done three months of chiropractic care with zero results I decided it was time to make a change. On a recommendation from a massage therapist at a workplace health fair, I scheduled an appointment at SSOR. Curtis and the rest of the team were welcoming, engaged and intent on ensuring improvement. Curtis always made me feel comfortable, worked me at the appropriate levels for my age and condition while getting me to flexibility and strength levels that I didn't think I would see again. He was patient and always explained the importance of each exercise he introduced and how it worked toward the goal of reducing or eliminating pain. Thank you!

Jessica Jones

I am a professional volleyball player. Dan Lorenz rehabed my knee and shoulder back in HS (2003) in Chicago, so I knew when I hurt my other knee almost 12 years later the only thing that was going to make me feel better was to rehab with Dan! I moved to KS from Minnesota to rehab with Dan. HE is THAT GOOD! His new facility is awesome! It has all you need! AND the best part is that I had the chance to work with John Smith and Greg Herrebruck! They are amazing AS well! Best part of the whole experience at SSOR is that every single person who works there is a genuine, hard working, caring individual! If you are signing your kids/teens up then there is no better place to send them because of the care & knowledge BUT also they will leave with an amazing role model.

Peter Lucas

I had a total left knee replacement done in November 2012. I went through the in home therapy program as we all do. When it was time to begin out-patient therapy, I was referred to SSOR as a possible option to look into. After an initial consultation it was obvious to me that Dan’s approach to wellness was more advanced than traditional rehab, (I can say this because I had my right knee replaced 18 months prior and used a different facility to recover). I can say with complete honesty that from my first session with Dan and the staff I felt a definite change in my knee. The hands on approach of working the “kinks” out of the muscles which is a result of pre and post-surgery was the key to my accelerated recovery. That approach coupled with a custom workout was responsible for restoring me to complete mobility. Within 3 weeks of working with the team at SSOR, I was back to the gym and living my life with complete mobility. Of course, you have to “do the work” Dan assigns you, but if you follow the plan, the rewards are amazing! I would recommend Dan and the team at SSOR to anyone serious about reaching their peak performance after an injury. This guy is the BEST!

Katherine Hughey

Dan has changed my life!! I suffered from a hip labrum tear and bone impingement. I postponed surgery because another physical therapist told me I would never run again. Not an option for me!! After many months of pain, I found Dan through a mutual friend and I couldn’t be happier! Dan took me through pre-op preparations to help quicken recovery. I’m currently 3-months post-surgery and am recovering in record time. Dan understands both the physical and mental challenges to a sports injury. I am extremely thankful to have such a personable and knowledgeable physical therapist!

Kylie Deneen

For years I've dealt with back pain that sort of comes and goes. Low back pain especially. A few months ago I injured my lower back to the point that I wasn't able to sit or walk comfortably. A friend recommended that I see Curtis and he had me walking comfortably in no time, and back to my full exercise routine shortly after that. It was more than just that though! Curtis didn't simply fix the problem at hand and send me on my way. He paid attention to the underlying patterns and habits I had developed over the years that were contributing to the consistent pain and he made me aware of them. He helped me to understand and correct those habits and I feel like I now have the tools and understanding to continue developing new and healthier habits. Curtis and the whole team sincerely cared about my overall and long-term well-being and it was very apparent! The quality of care at SSOR is unmatched and I truly enjoyed each of my appointments (even the tough ones!) Thank you Curtis!!

David Russell

Ive been to more then my share of physical therapy. This is the absolute best place I've ever been. They actually take the time to treat you. Come up with a plan for you, that works for you. If your going someplace else, then you are missing out on the absolute best care in Kansas City. I cant begin to thank this wonderful group of people enough.

Keely Lumby

I've had ankle issues for 20+ years. I decided to have ankle reconstruction surgery in August and working with SSOR OP, I bounced back like a champ. With the help of Adrienne, I was able to surpass the recovery time line the doctor said to expect. The team here loves what they do and it really shows. Cannot say enough good things about this place!!

Ed Raner

Personal attention paid off.

Devon Burrell

I was having lower back issues, and thought what I was doing would help. Was referred by a friend to Korbyn, and he was awesome. He told me that what I was doing was actually making my back worse, and gave me exercises and things to do to help. After 6-7 days, it felt a ton better! Super glad I went, as I feel much better. Will refer and use again.

Kevin Gibson

I was referred to SSOR by my neighbor. Her son had knee surgery similar to mine and they had nothing but great things to say. Scheduling was a breeze and the front office staff is so friendly and helpful. This is my first experience with physical therapy so I don't have a lot to compare this with, but I will say I was blown away with the treatment I received. For me, Adrienne was a physical therapist, a motivator, and most importantly my biggest fan while I was there. She got excited as I made progress through my treatment and continued to push me further than I thought I could go. It is without hesitation that I highly recommend SSOR to anyone looking for physical therapy services!

Lauren Estes

My PT, Rachel, was AMAZING!! She helped me through recovery after an extensive knee surgery. She helped me regain strength and confidence in my knee and abilities. The entire staff really knew their stuff and made me feel comfortable in the clinic. Highly recommend!

Richard Galler

Chose SSOR based on its Google reviews. As it turned out I was very happy I did. I had physical therapy for about six months with Mallory to recover from rotator cuff surgery. I found the staff friendly and helpful. It seems to me Dan runs a good business. The place is clean and attractive. The therapists and front office people whom I interacted with were always helpful. Mallory was very knowledgeable and did a great job throughout. She was skillful & careful with my arm and shoulder which were very painful to move at first as anyone familiar with this type of surgery knows. In the beginning I had to be able to let go and trust the therapist so she could move my arm as the therapy required. I was always amazed how Mallory knew just when to stop and how far to push and just how to move it so there weren't any sudden pains and to give my arm the support it needed since I wasn't able to lift it myself in the beginning. I always felt I was in good hands and she consistently did a great job. Overall I was very pleased and felt I had chosen a well run outfit plus Mallory showed she was a first class professional therapist with a caring attitude.

Casey Engel

Rachael is the best- within two weeks I was dealing with my back injury so much better, and with significantly reduced pain. Office staff is incredibly friendly and helpful too; I can't recommend SSOR enough.

I couldn't be more satisfied with the physical therapy I received from SSOR that enabled me to regain range of motion with my right arm. I was diagnosed by Dr. Kirk McCullough with an impingement in my right shoulder. He recommended SSOR and with the therapy and exercises Tony Hentzen provided, I have nearly regained all range of motion in my 10 sessions. I first used another provider whose first priority was billable hours. I am so fortunate to have met Tony at SSOR who gave me exclusive treatment during my visits. Everyone was courteous and professional. I am so happy to give them my highest recommendation.

Last year I suffered from back and hip pain. I originally sought treatment at a different PT and made little improvement if any. They also believed the pain originated from a back injury. Finally I was referred to SSOR and received treatment from John and Greg. This is where everything turned around for me. John pinpointed the cause for my pain and concentrated on my hip. Come to find out I had a torn labrum and required surgery. Instead of spinning my wheels at another PT and not getting anywhere SSOR found the root cause and I was able to have surgery to fix my injury. Since surgery and continued therapy, I feel so much better. John really cares about his clients and creates a professional and comfortable atmosphere for his clients. Now I am back to the gym and in better shape than I have been in years. It wouldn't have happened without the expertise and support I got at SSOR.

Trying to find out what was going on with my leg/hip, I suffered through X-rays, a CT myelogram, and bad physical therapy until I found Dan. Literally my physician told me that if Dan could not figure it out, then he did not know what he could do for me. In less than 10 minutes Dan found the problem and had solutions to end my pain/spasms. Since then he has become my "go-to" person! I gladly refer folks to him knowing that he and his staff will be able to help the most difficult scenario. I go back to him if I feel something is not right for evaluation, correction and help. He has given me back my sleep and my activities. Cannot recommend he and his staff enough!

I recently had foot surgery that left me non-weight bearing for 8 weeks. I'm not the most patient person in the world and had no problem going the extra mile to get back on my feet as soon as possible. SSOR is about a 30 minute drive from my office, but they were recommended to me and I didn't mind driving if it gave me the best opportunity to get back on my feet faster. On my first visit , Dan laid out the plan and set my expectations from the start, which for someone like me is VERY important to see the end game and the path to get there as well as understanding by pushing myself too far could be counterproductive. I can honestly say, Dan kept me on track and I was successfully released by my orthopedic surgeon within 8 weeks of going to SSOR and couldn't be happier with the results. I would recommend SSOR and Dan to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and competent PT as well as great results.

All the therapists at Specialists in Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation are great. However, John is my favorite. John is professional and knowledgeable. I enjoy my physical therapy visits and always feel like, I leave feeling stronger than when I walked in the doors. I choose to drive 30 minutes to SSOR, driving past many other PT facilities, because of the quality of care I received. John and SSOR are the best!

Simply the best PT place ever... Even though Dan is terrible... But everyone else is awesome

Dan at SSOR is a miracle worker. I have been playing recreational baseball my whole life. At 50+, my throwing arm was feeling, well, increasingly old and in in need of strengthening. I saw no improvement after visiting several physical therapists. Unlike the others, Dan saw problems beyond the arm. He put me on a program to increase back and shoulder mobility, in addition to arm/throwing strength exercises. The combination resulted in fantastic results. I'm throwing with velocity and accuracy I haven't seen since my 20s. I am happy to recommend Dan and SSOR to anyone without hesitation.

The Beat Staff around by far the best place to go to get back to normal. They are very nice and work with your schedule.

SSOR is top notch. I had the pleasure of working with Mallory Maloney, one of their PT's. She was personable, professional, and highly recommended. I appreciated her honesty when she felt like my time with her was done, not string me along and collecting my money (which I dealt with with a different local PT office with my son). I definitely would not hesitate to return to SSOR with any new injuries.

I visited SSOR a few times due to a neck injury this past May. Everyone was very helpful and accommodating while sorting out a couple things with insurance. Korbyn did an excellent job of providing solid diagnosis with a focus on getting better as quickly as possible (not dragging things out like the chiropractor tried to do to get more money). He set realistic timelines, and I appreciated his direct lets-get-you-better approach. Would highly recommend this place to anyone needing treatment.

I first went to SSOR KC a few years ago for minor sports injuries. Recently after I had a major ACL and Meniscus injury and surgery there was no doubt in where I would be rehabbing. I worked with Korbyn for over 6 months and he has worked wonders for me. He pushes you to your very best with strengthening and rehabbing, while making everything funfilled even during harder times. 12/10 would recommend forever and always!! :)

SSOR was great at getting me back to running condition. Dan Lorenz and his staff are really good and I recommend them.

In for plantar fasciitis. Very happy with results as problem corrected within two weeks including home exercises. Rachael had excellent insights regarding the problem. Highly recommend her and the rest of the team.

Been working with SSOR since it opened, I had open knee surgery in June and Dan has been my PT since. My insurance doesn't cover very many PT clinics in town, so I chose to be a self-pay patient, i have no regrets, I wanted to work with the best and that's what I'm doing! I ended up having another knee surgery in December for additional cartilage damage and Dan and Curtis worked with me for my knee rehab and the additional back pain I developed from overcompensating. Being in the sports medicine profession myself, I've worked with a lot of physical therapists but when I became the patient, I chose to work with the best. I highly recommend SSOR to anyone needing PT care.

Greg and Dan were really great! I started with Dan and moved to Greg when we realized I needed a lot of soft tissue work. They were always very transparent with me and listened to all my concerns. They always explained everything they did and explained why things were feeling certain ways in my knee, ankle, leg and hip. They were great to work with and I trust them completely. We had trouble figuring out exactly what was causing my pain, but Greg quickly picked up on what was going on and started a treatment that quickly started showing improvement. He was very sincere and not in the business of dragging out service just to get more money. I always felt like I had his full attention not like other places I've been where they tried to balance 5 appointments at once. He will be upfront with you about what he thinks your situation requires and careful to address all your concerns... and he'll throw in a few funny stories about his kiddos. They seem to have a variety of clients from professional athletes to children to seniors. They're patient and understanding with everyone and work with you however you need to get you back on track. Their customer/patient service is outstanding. I highly recommend SSOR to anyone in the Johnson County area.

I am a firefighter in the Kansas City metro area. I had been dealing with back pain off and on for a year. When my doctor suggested physical therapy, I was reluctant. I didn't think a physical therapist would understand the importance of athleticism in regards to my profession. I need to be able to squat, push, pull, lift, drag, and move in all directions under a strenuous load. I used the internet to see what my options were and was excited to come across SSOR. One phone call and I was in. I was paired up with Curtis on my first visit. He and the rest of the staff at SSOR are incredible. After two months, I was pain free and back to moving like my old self. I will always be grateful to Curtis and the others at SSOR for putting my health and my career back on track.

I would definitely return to SSOR as I had a spectacular relationship with Korbyn. He helped me rehab from a severe rotator cuff tear. He helped me physically as well dealing with the mental challenge of a long recovery.

Jeff Grosse

Great staff and facilities! Everyone there is friendly and helpful. Hope I don’t need therapy anymore but if I do, they will be my choice.

Emily DeCoursey

Korbyn was very patient and did a great job helping me rehab my back and neck after a car accident. Jeanne and Chastity were amazing and made scheduling and insurance issues easy and convenient.

Shelly Bobbett

This was the best experience, with the best outcome I could of asked for. John Smith was excellent with his diagnosis and rehab of my knee.I highly recommend him and will choose him again if I'm ever in need of therapy.

Gary and Louise Hicks

Excellent care by Rachel on shoulders.

Kendall Gammon

The attention to detail and service that Dan and his staff exhibit is second to none. There is no one I trust more with both my health and my family's.
