I am an active 60 year old who suffers from athletic inflammation and scar tissue. I’ve torn the same rotator cuff twice (at 20 and 50 years of age), the same hamstring twice (20 and 60 years of age), a torn biceps tendon (at 61), but I have avoided the knife by believing I can heal myself with proper PT. I’ve been referred to multiple PT’s by my physician over the years, but I found Dan McConnell by word of mouth. My first visit was for chronic knee pain that Dan diagnosed as a misaligned kneecap. After fixing my knee issue, I came back after tearing my biceps tendon in the same arm as the rotator cuff, and he helped me heal both (as good as new), and he cured me of chronic burning and pain/weakness in my ankles after playing tennis. I will see Dan before going to the doctor for any athletic injury! He is a magician with joints and connective tissue. He loves the scraper (ouch) and I love Dan McConnell. I often joke that if I wasn’t married...

If you are in need of repair and don't want surgery I suggest you call and make an appointment to see Dan McConnell at NovaCare located in the Talleyville shopping center. Dan will get you back to where you need to be. I have tried several different rehab clinics and never found anyone close to Dan's skill set. I plan to stay active for a long time and I know Dan will make that possible. Our family and extended family all go to Dan as well as a close group of friends. If you are reading this in search of a good rehab facility I can guarantee that you can stop looking.

I went to NovaCare Rehabilitation for a partial tear in my Achilles tendon (Achilles Tedinopathy) with retrocalcaneal bursitis. My physical therapist (Dan), assessed the situation and devised a plan to treat my injury. After 4 weeks in a boot and 2x/week PT, Dan was able to break-up the tissue and reduce the swelling in my heel. My range-of-motion improved and I was able to begin active recovery after about 5-6 weeks. I am currently back to a limited running schedule with no issues in my heel. With a slow rebuild, I will be back to a "normal" schedule again. I can honestly say that the treatments were key in helping me get back to what I enjoy! Dan is the man:)

I will never go here for physical therapy again. When I started physical therapy I had problems with being taken back up to 30 minutes late, my actual therapist didn't even do the exercises. There were assistants who half the time didn't know what I had to do-as in they asked me! The therapists would then walk away, carry on conversations, or just generally leave me until I sat there giving the evil eye from across the room. Finally when I thought I was done with them, I received my billing statement. There were inaccurate charges! I only had ice/heat therapy for two sessions and they tried to bill my insurance for 8. The reason the billing company told me? "Oh it's not that big of a deal, insurance covers it all." Finally, after fighting for months to get an accurate billing statement they tried to send me to collections. Thank god I have emails proving the physical therapy office, the billing office and their collections agency are incapable of properly processing paperwork.

Trust me when I say back pain so no joke! I had crippling pain and my balance was terrible. I had one leg shorter than the other for no apparent reason. I called NovaCare and was able to be seen the same day. My pain went from a 9 to a 2 in less than 24 hours. My legs were back to normal and I had significant relief. People don't suffer, go see your PT. If you don't have one go see mine. Jayme works magic!!!

NovaCare Rehabilitation Center is convienant, and easy accessible. They have an excellent staff that are experienced regarding your rehab needs. They are caring and make you feel apart of their family. NovaCare is located right off the Oak Lawn Metra Train Station. Being a Metra rider, I found this Rehab physicality more convenient. I did not have to take off work to do my rehab. Opening at 7am I was able to make that appointment the catch the 8:07am train to downtown Chicago for work. There last appointment is at 6pm. I was able to catch the 5:18pm train from downtown and that train pulled into Oak Lawn at 5:52 - 5:55 of which I walked over to NovaCare for my appointment. Once my hour session was over, walked to my car and done. It's a excellent rehab physicality, yes I would go back if I have to.

My wife also went to novacare after having 2 surgeries. She recommended me to a therapist named shanna. I recently had a rotor cuff surgery and choose to go back to novacare because of shanna she is an amazing therapist who pushes you to your limits and gets results I know when I leave I've made progress and I look forward to going to my appointment. Other places I have been were very up tight and didn't really listen to you. The therapists at Physio work well with one another. I have personally worked with Shannon and Alex. Dan McConnell has helped me on two different occasions over the last three years alleviate my pain. He is very knowledgeable and explains in layman’s terms your condition and how he is going to tackle your issue. He provides great instructions on what you need to accomplish at home. The combo of physical therapy in the office and your homework assignments is crucial to getting back to being 100 percent. Dan has a team of PTs and students dedicated to your needs. Currently, student Amy is also working with me and she is excellent. If you need PT, I recommend NovaCare.

NovaCare Rehabilitation was a very pleasant and successful experience. I have been to many physical therapy centers and this one rates among the best. The PTs and support staff were very knowledgeable and were able to reduce my level of pain to nearly none. With the at home exercises, I am able to continue with my daily activities: swimming, aqua fit, senior fit workout (strength and cardio) and line dancing. Andrew was my primary PT and he was great, but you have to put the work into the exercises!

Off and on, I've been a client of NovaCare for over 3 years -- and for various problems. My athletic trainer referred me to their office. In many cases, they can tell you what your problem is without a medical test for verification -- I know because I fought for an MRI to confirm their diagnosis. NovaCare's PT's have an uncanny sense of body mechanics and anatomy which they have used to treat my knee, my neck and back, and my elbow. I would readily go (and have gone) to any of their PT's (and students) because I know their training and philosophy of treatment is consistent. Bottom line: NovaCare completely works for me and my PT needs.

A week and a half after my second knee surgery the professionals with NovaCare East Lansing have made a tremendous difference in my road back to normal use. I know the care and diligence they show in the evaluation process, exercises they immediately start you working on produce great results. I am already able to stop all of the pain medication and that is a terrific advantage. In my humble opinion YOU won't find better care anywhere.

My very first visit the staff were able to pin point where my pain was coming from, and relax the muscles. I’ll never be rid of the migraines completely, but thanks to my care plan, and the wonderful PT’s I’m down to one migraine a week, and my pain from a standing 8-10 to a 5 on an average day. Which means I can start living my life again, and I can’t explain how much that means to me!
