Ellen did an amazing job with our family photos! She was able to entertain and delight my two young girls, capturing their joke telling and giggles! Ellen was efficient with our time, taking numerous photos in a relatively short period, and we had fun! I need more stars! Ellen was quick to respond to our emails (and fun to communicate with!) and her pricing was so reasonable I still can't believe it included her travel to Vermont. I'm incredibly uncomfortable in front of the camera, and as such had been dreading intimate moments when I might be able to feel the camera's attention on me, like getting ready with my bridesmaids, putting on my dress, and photos with my husband after the ceremony. But by the time Ellen arrived on our wedding day I felt like she was already a great friend, and that sense of ease and comfort brought me - and my husband, our wedding party, our family, and our friends - great joy, which is absolutely visible in our photos. Ellen even helped tie the back of my dress, and helped my bridesmaids with the flowers - come on! I absolutely want to be her friend. My husband and I had already decided on a hands off approach when it came to Ellen's wedding day photos, and my only request was to let me know if I needed to reapply lipstick. This was the perfect decision, as the photos are stunning, and better than anything we (or Pinterest!) could have come up with. She captured everything - not just the people, the landscape, and the architecture, but also the feeling and the energy of each moment - and looking back on the photos is like reliving our special day. What a treasure. Our photos came back to us only a month after the wedding, and when we shared them with friends we were flooded for weeks by emails, texts, and Facebook notifications with messages such as, "I can't stop looking at your wedding photos!", "these are so magical", and, my favorite, "your wedding photos are (insert 6 banana emojis here)", from a friend who had, until then, stuck their nose up at all emoji use - ha! Ellen is amazing. If you work with her, count yourself lucky!

A great photographer was at the very top of our list when it came to wedding priorities, and Ellen was absolutely amazing in every way. We could not have asked for a better experience! She was always quick to respond to emails, full of great insight and so friendly. For our engagement photos, she not only got up with us to start shooting at 6 am, but it was also downpouring rain. We have never had so much fun and the photos were beautiful! Ellen was a trooper the entire time. When it came to the actual wedding, I wish I could give her even more stars! My wife and I could not be happier with The Light and Color's work. Ellen was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. She was easy to communicate with and immediately put us at ease upon our first phone conversation. Before the wedding, she encouraged us to think about a shot list of photos - who and where - so that we were prepared on the day. We had to plan our wedding from afar, as we live in Los Angeles but got married in upstate New York. We were looking for a photographer who would not only capture the feelings and emotions of the wedding, but who also understood how to use the natural surroundings to accentuate the beauty of the event. When it comes to outdoorsy, naturally-set weddings, we found many other photographers whose photos felt either too washed-out or overly-saturated; they were obviously heavily edited. But having grown up in the area, Ellen was very familiar with the, ahem, light and color of the region, and it really showed through in her work. On the day, she was thoughtful and kind, with a great sense of humor that runs on the dry side -- perfect for us. Though we had planned to pass on a second photographer, Ellen ended up bringing an assistant, Haley, but did not charge us for it. Haley was awesome as well, with a very sweet and calming presence. They were both patient with us and all our knucklehead friends and family, and came in with a plan of attack based on previous conversations that we had had about shot lists. They made us feel comfortable and confident, with lots of great compliments. We also had a few photographer friends that may have been encroaching on Ellen's work, but she handled it in stride, never making a fuss. Never once did she get pushy, short, or demanding, and though she was happy to make suggestions, she always deferred to us in the end. Neither of them ever felt in the way or like a disturbance, blending in, but also getting along with any guests they interacted with. Ellen has a great eye, and picked a different location for our first looks than we had originally intended, but the photos were beautiful and we were very happy with her decision. We also made a point in our discussions beforehand that we wanted lots of photos of our guests. Yes, the moment is about us, but what often makes the best weddings so special are the people that attend, and we really wanted to be able to look back on the celebration with mementos of all our friends and family celebrating and having fun. Ellen did not disappoint on that front, as we have many beautiful and candid photos of our guests as well the insanely gorgeous ones of us. We loved Ellen so much that it was legitimately saddening to say goodbye. We had a great time with her, and could not be more stoked on how the photos turned out. We could not recommend The Light + Color more and would hire them again in a heartbeat!

BEST wedding decision we made was booking Ellen! When I saw what she did for two of my best friends I knew we had to book her too! She went above & beyond for us making sure our day was absolutely perfect! Also, she's amazing at not making you feel like a dork in front of the camera, the whole time felt natural & laid back. If you want artistic, beautiful and heartfelt pictures from your wedding day you NEED to hire Ellen. The photos are absolutely stunning. Ellen is able to capture the special moments without being cheesy or posed. She also was able to wrangle our 16 person wedding party which is a feat itself. The Light + Color is a must! Oh AND she got the pictures to us within TWO WEEKS. Yes two weeks. She travels all over so there is no excuse. Our wedding photos are the only physical thing we can take from our big day and I am so glad we used The Light + Color.

I was the floral vendor for a wedding that she shot this fall and I was amazed by how the photographs captured not only the couple's personality and the overall beauty and theme of the venue, but were of exceptional quality. The images ranged from intimate to formal and made you feel as though you were truly there experiencing the wedding over again with the couple. Can I give her more stars?? Ellen was like a ninja photographer, wedding coordinator and friend all in one. I seriously don't know how she does it, but she was SO helpful. She offered so many great ideas during set up, and even braided my flower girl's hair while we were getting ready! She was so fun to be around, my FI & I felt so at ease taking photos with her. I fell in love with her work when we were planning on eloping to CO, but after the guest list started growing and growing we ended up moving the wedding to Austin, TX. I was so bummed that we had to cancel, but Ellen gave us an unreal ( & probably totally unfair) rate including travel to TX! She travels, she's got an incredible talent behind the lens and is super willing to jump in and help out wherever help is needed. My MOH has already decided to use her for her Michigan wedding, and honestly, I'm super pumped to see her again because she's just that freaking cool. Best wedding decision ever!
